Fat Smashers Weekly Support 9/25 - 10/1

Good Morning Smashers. Hope everyone had a smashing weekend. I have had a good few days I have been getting in lots of exercise, two times a day! It has really paid off Im down 2 more pounds, for a total of 5 for the week. I really enjoy eating this way, Im not getting burned out on the same foods either. Well time to go make some breakfast.

Olivia86 and Mellybelly- I hope you two get better soon!

Dweeb- WELCOME. This is a great place, I am new to posting. I read the forum for about a month before my first post, and I love checking in with everyone, makes me feel good and on track.

I hate to say it, but I'm glad the weekend is over. I went home to see my sister and her family. As I mentioned before, my family isn't really supportive of my healthy eating. (I've always been the fat one of the family. I'm now 37. It's about time I do something about it. I wish they would see that!!!) "What, aren't you going to eat more than that?" "I made dessert, and you aren't going to have ANY?" "Now, you don't eat CHIPS?" For lunch yesterday, I offered to have the leftover broccoli from the night before and she really got upset. "And here I make this meal for you (chicken tacos) and it's not good enough." Good lord. It's hopeless. She ended up getting a business phone call during lunch and wasn't even there to stalk me while I ate. Incidently, I made a salad out of the taco fixings and it was quite delicious! Oh, and right after that call, she was on the horn to Mom, I think. What makes my dietary intake such a hot topic of disussion, anyways? Focus on Nephew. Focus on Nephew. Focus on Nephew.

Thanks for letting me vent. I'm not sure anyone around here would understand...

So, I get on the scale this morning, just to see how bad things really are. Since Friday morning, down 1.2 pounds. Hey, I guess I did better than I thought! [pat self on back]. I'm definitely going to keep this up!

I hope your weekend went in a positive direction... Tell us!

AuntieCiCi good for you hanging in there. Sorry you meet such resistance with family members.
It is my 6th or 7th day need to look in my journal lol. I have had no side effects from giving up the coffee. I had to do 2 16 hour shifts this weekend so I packed and planned. On the way home I so wanted a coffee. I resisted. But this morning I woke up starving. Kids were begging for homemade waffles. I did not eat any but I am still starving and want to cheat. I have not experienced this before I have been very full and have to force myself to take my daily allowance. I got on scale, knowing I should wait, hoping that would help me stay strong. I was very happy at my reading 7 lbs. gone. My throat is scratchy so this weekend all I had in my locker was assorted green teas. I did drink those. Do you think that is making me so hungry? It is time for a meal so maybe it will help me.
By the way I made a sweet treat for the weekend. I made this and divided it in 2 servings. I had eggwhites and veggies this weekend for breakfast and used oatmeal here.
I have also done the same with peach and blueberries last week and mashed one peach chopped another.
1/2 c rolled oats
1 apple chopped
1 pear chopped
cinnamon to taste
fresh nutmeg
1/2 cup applesauce(for peaches mash up a peach) It helps as you can not add butter and sugar.
added water as needed to help cook oats. I did use a little brown sugar sweet n low.
I cooked in rice cooker and toasted it in oven. You could simmer on stove. I ate it warm with vanilla soy milk.
Time to eat . I wish you all the best today.

I blew it, I blew it, I BLEW IT!

 I guess the fact that I did not lose any weight last week I was frustrated and just let myself go! I was so down yesterday and I had some yummy wine and just felt sorry for myself.

I already ate something bad today and I am drinking coffee with 1/2 and 1/2. I am still going running tonight and tomorrow I will get myself under control. I just wish I would have been to the 10 lb mark...I know that would have not gotten me so discouraged.

GOes to show you it is not the diet, but the dieter that makes it work. :(

thanks to all those that gave advice last week. I am still struggling and acutally worked out all weekend, stuck to plan. I got on the scale Sunday morning and had actually gained 1 lbs. I went to church and someone said that maybe I wasn't eating enough. Well I went out to lunch and we went to a restaurant where I didn't have any choices, so I got popcorn shrimp. I only ate about 1/2 cup and two hushpuppies, gave the fries to my son. Stuck to plan the rest of the day. But last night I had a pack of goldfish and sugarfree pudding. Thought I blew it, but my attitude has changed because usually in this situation I would binge, but I didn't. Well I got up this morning and was down almost 3 pounds. I don't get it...I have cheated three times in three and 1/2 weeks (nothing bad but not on plan) and the morning after I have always lost...I just don't understand that. Anyway I am not weighing again until Friday and then I am probably going back on WW, I will take a lot of this with me, but it is too expensive and I think my body needs something I am not getting from this diet to lose weight.

Phase I - Results

My Phase I officially ended on Sunday, Sept. 24th...I lost 9 lbs. I felt this was an easy phase, especially after figuring out exactly what could be eaten and creating a food plan. I also felt pretty good...well, up until Day 5. That's when I started feeling bad with a sore, scratchy throat. It took me down pretty hard and my appetite was diminished, but I forced myself to eat the allowed foods on schedule. I felt so bad that I called in sick on Thursday and Friday. (Sidenote: I did see on our local news where this type of illness was going around in my area.) I was only able to exercise 5 days of the 9 due to the illness.

I'm now on Day 1 of Phase II and I'll see how it goes. I know the weight loss will slow down, but I'm just hoping not to gain. I'll keep you posted.

HI everyone. I am new to this thread. I just started phase 1 today. I actually feel good. I may be speaking too soon, but this is not as hard as I thought it was going to be. But then again, I have yet to finish day 1.

bbobsgurl--wow, that is an amazing loss for phase I. Ihope Ican do as good as you. Good luck on Phase II!!!

Well I was on day 4 of phase 2 and went to a wedding reception...by the time we were served it was about 5 hours since my last mini meal and I was pretty hungry. I surprized myself though and stayed pretty much on track except for a half of piece of cake and 2 glasses of wine. I passed up a chocolate fountain! Unheard of for me. Well pride goeth before a fall and the favors as we left the area were giant chocolate turtles...It was too much... Later I had some cheese nips and they tasted soooo salty to me. I got right back on track the next day and am doing well. I am amazed at how when eating all this healthy food that junk food becomes unappealing.

spcdcider- thanks for sharing the recipe...It looks good.

A chocolate fountain?!?!

I would've died and gone to heaven lol

Day 1

It's almost time for the evening meal and so far so good. I really haven't had any trouble with the eating program.

My problem is going to be my hubby. He wanted to go on the program too and will eat about anything I put in front of him. But I have to pack him a lunch. He works out where there isn't a microwave or anything of that sort.

Other than a salad and fruit, does anyone have any ideas for packing lunches?

Also, I saw one of my doc's today, and he thought it great I was doing this program. He said the biggest thing to watch on detox is to drink lots and lots of water. He said it could make you sick feeling if you don't. Your body has to flush out the toxins.

Buttercupkitty...don't beat yourself up. We all have bad days now & then....heck-Friday night I had Chinese food & I don't mean shrimp & broccoli....I went for the sweet & sour chicken AND sesame noodles!!!! Felt like pure **** the next day for it too,but.....stuff happens......:dizzy:
Its called falling off the horse & getting right back on, that's all.

Question for anyone doing Phase 111.......I know we are allowed to have 2 cookies (the size of oreos, eg.), for a dessert if we desire.
Supposedly, per the internet, a 100 Calorie pack of cookies, like the peanut butter ones, have less calories than 2 traditional Oreos. Think this is an OK substitute??

Good luck this week to all of us. Enjoy the beginning of the change in the leaves, the cooler evenings, and walk, walk, WALK!!!!:carrot:

Hello Smashers..I had a tough day today, all I wanted to do was snack all day long. I made good choices but still ate more than normal. And this is the first day in awhile I have not exercised, but thats ok..my knees and shins hurt so I needed a day off I think.

Buttercupkitty- I know how you feel, I was in a depressed mood today. And your getting back on track and not just giving up!! That says alot!

dweeb- the only thing I can think of is yogurt and maybe a homemade cold 3 bean salad or some homemade salsa with veggies to dip. I made some tofu in a frying pan with alot of lemon pepper seasoning and I liked it better when It was cold, I sliced it VERY thin and cooked it VERY VERY well done and it reminded me of chicken.

thankyouforlovingme 09-26-2006 07:43 AM

Today is my first day on this diet! I woke up early went shopping for foods, and then took a long walk. Any helpful suggestions?

happyface 09-26-2006 08:15 AM

Shore ~ I don't think oreos themselves are actually allowed. This is just my interpretation. They list some cookies and are using the oreos as a size reference. I think oreos are more calories than the listed cookies. So, in my opinion, just decide for yourself. If you really want the pkg and you continue being successful then it is fine. If you notice you stall or start gaining then experiment with taking that away or changing it to 2 cookies from the list. I figure from Phase 4 (and maybe in Phase 3) we are going to have to play with what works and experiment a little to find the right balance. Obviously there are a lot of foods never mentioned so we are going to have to do trial and error. (hopefully not too much error. :)) Good luck! I can't wait to join you in Phase 3! I am starting Phase 3 on Saturday!

:)
