I'm on day 3 of Phase1 and loving it!! Would anyone like to be 'fat smash buddies'? We can check in with each others progress and push each other? :)

Ok sooo just got home from work... very stressful it was soo busy! I almost ate something bad but I'm so glad I didn't! :)
Breakfast: 4 egg whites w/salsa, bell pepper & onion Snack: frozen grapes Lunch: Split Pea Soup (24g protein! :) ) Snack: Apple Dinner: Banana, Carrots, Apple & Tangerine I did 30min. on my elliptical before I went to work as well! Hello again :) I just got home from work... hope everyone is doing well! I live in a new area for about 6 months now and still havn't made any girlfriends soooo I'm on here a lot.. as you can tell ;) lol Well I'm ready for FS day5!
Today: Breakfast: Apple Bake: Apple, Oatmeal, spenda, cinn. & 0 cal. butter spray (got the recipe out of the forums) Snack:grapes Lunch: Boca Patty & Sweet potato Fries w/ketchup & mustard Snack: Carrots & Tangerine Dinner: Boca Patty w/grilled onions & Steak sauce I looove the Boca burger patties I crave them even lol and they have 18g of protein! |

Today is day 6 for me and I'm still doing good... when I'm not doing well I just get on here and write in my journal and it really helps me! So happy to be on board with someone else - the support is going to be the difference between me making and breaking it I think. My family isn't so supportive and it's hard to eat the food I NEED to be eating when they're eating what I'd rather have! Here's a little background on me, I'm assuming we're about the same age due to your screen name (I was a 03 high school grad). I just graduated college in December...have my degree in education. I spend a lot of time on the road for work and only have access to a microwave a few times a week for lunch. I kind of sense this being a problem...I'll have to look in the recipe forum to see what I can do on those other days for lunch. I was always active in sports until my sophomore year of high school when I decided to quit - becoming more interested in music/drama. Since then, I've gained a good 10 lbs. a year going from 150 in high school to 224 in 2006. I lost about 25 lbs. in 2006 by doing the South Beach Diet. I've kept it off since, but the past few years, I've yo-yoed the same 10 lbs. never really getting anywhere. I'm so ready for a change. I need to cut out all of the processed/fast food in my diet. I'm not much of a drinker, but that's gotta go too. I look forward to seeing what fat smash can do for me, but I need to realize that all this is REALLY nothing more than changing my eating habits, I hate the diet mentality. Sorry to have written a book! :) I am actually starting tomorrow, today I blew it with toast for breakfast, haha. Other than that, I had a healthy day (not phase 1 though!). From here on out, I'm one dedicated woman...I WILL see 150 lbs. by August! |

Even though you had toast in the morning good for you for not ruining the whole day and getting back on track with eating healthy! It's so hard when you eat something bad in the morning.. I sometimes think I might as well give up that day, even though I know I shouldn't! My family isn't healthy eaters either which makes it harder... I live with my grandparents and every weekend my aunt & mom comes over to have a big breakfast... all the works... it sucks that I cant eat it lol but I have to pound it in my head it's not worth it! My whole famiy is over weight about 250-300lbs. I was raised by my mother and she's always had a problem with her weight& drugs, growing up she would aways use food as my reward... if I was sad, if I did something good, if she did something bad.. etc. I use food as everything now.. especially if I'm stressed or upset , it's the only thing that makes me immediatley happy. I did graduate in 03'.. my senior year was when I started losing weight when my stepdad went to prison and I was working at Subway Sand. When I turned 18 I moved out and by the time I was 19 I got down to 135lbs... At about 160lbs I started excercising with a girlfriend like crazy. I moved when I was 20 with a gf who ate like I used to and I fell right back into my old ways... I was also to far from the gym so stopped excercising and as of Dec 07 I was 190lbs... Luckily now I do know a lot more about healthy eating but I still get overwhelmed. My mom went to rehab Nov 06, and she's been asking me to move about 3 hours away where my grandparents lived, I told her I would if she stayed clean so we moved in May 07... I still dont have any close girlfriends here and I hate doing things by myself. Good job with the 25 lbs! Thank you for writing me I'm reay excited! Telling each other what we eat will help with ideas... I just started eating frozen grapes they're yummy... since I've started the Fat Smash diet I've been eating lots of fruits & veggies. I love steamed broccoli and I put some seasoning on it, canned corn, baby carrots, strawberries, grapes, apples, bananas & tangerines are my fav. Otherwise I usually have vegetable soups like split pea soup, tomato soup, vegetable soup or beans. I also just started eating fake meat... which I really like. The boca burger patties with mustard & ketchup, or morningstar farms has a lot of different fake meat options: chicken patty, sausage and even chicken wings. For breakfast oatmeal with fresh fruit, egg whites with fake sausage and veggies... I think I'm writing a book now lol.... ttyl :) <3 Jill |

I definately need support to. I have been doing different diets for so long it seems like when I tell my family I'm doing something they're just like oh ok, what now. So it's nice to be around supportive people that have the same problems as me.

I hear you! My family tends to be the same way, unfortunately. I am also a little impatient and tend to fail the diets instead of the other way around. This time I'm making a commitment to try Fat Smash for a month, no cheating, before I form an opinion about whether or not it's working for me.
My problem is that I'm well read...I've researched so many diets that I don't even know what is the *best* or *healthiest* way to lose weight. I focus so much on the RIGHT way that I don't even get started or give ANY way a chance. So that's what I'm trying to fix this time around. I agree with you. I don't know what's the best diet. I just started to make sure I don't eat anything processed. I know some diets might work for some people but it might not work for someone else. I know women that did Atkins and lost a lot of weight and have kept it off, but I never lost more than 30 pounds. You just have to find something that doesn't make you feel crappy during the day and is also helping you to lose weight.

So today I didn't work and I was barely hungry at all!! Crazy how when you arn't stressed it's easier lol I stayed at home today cleaned and did laundry... it's nice when it's done!! Lol... I still need to get on my elliptical hopefully 30 mins but at least 15 mins. I'm thinking about posting a few lil recipes I had wrote down awhile ago that sound yummy.. not all P1 probably P2 let me know if yall want to hear them too.. Hope you all did good! Today: BREAKFAST: 2 MorningStarFarms Soy Sausage Patties 2 Eggs (whites only) 3/4 cup sweet potato (browned in Pam non-stick spray) SNACK: frozen grapes LUNCH: Progresso Vegetable Soup I had lunch late and I'm still not hungry so probably won't eat anything else. I didn't sleep well last night though fell asleep at 3am and woke up at 7:30am grrr... I always go to sleep late 12-3am but I usually get 8 hours of sleep I hate when I don't. I'm about to start getting ready for work and after work I'm going to walk to my moms and back which gives me about 45mins to a hour of exercise plus the area I live in is sorta hilly lol So extra work! Good morning ladies!
I just started Phase I this morning. This is the first time I've done the Fat Smash so I'll be looking for support from you folks that have been doing it for a while. Jill: Did you lose all of that weight on Fat Smash? How long has it taken you? I have been on SlimFast and so far I've lost 31.5lbs. I was just looking to change things up a little and eat some more whole foods. I'll probably go back to SF eventually as I really like the plan and I love the food! My plan for today looks like this: 6am - Oatmeal w/ Vanilla yogurt & Strawberries 9am - Egg Whites w/ Homemade Salsa 12 - Homemade Vegetable Rice Soup 3pm - Veggies w/ Dip (dip is plain non-fat yogurt with herbs/spices) 6pm - Brown Rice and Homemade Veggie Chilli 8pm - Apple That seems like an awful lot of food...but I guess that's been my experience so far with "lifestyle changes" that work...there is a lot of GOOD food. Even with SF I was eating an unbelievable amount of food and still the weight came off at a steady 1-2lbs a week. I have a terrible headache from not having coffee this morning, but I just keep saying only 8 more mornings like this and then I can have coffee again! LOL I hope everyone has a fantastic day and I look forward to seeing how everyone else is doing on FS! Cheers, Tamara |
HI tleef :) Welcome! I actually just started Fat Smash, today is day 9 of Phase1 for me... the other weight I've lost slowly over the last few years going up and down! But I was 190lbs Jan 1st and until I started Fat Smash I was doing Weight Watchers unofficially, counting my points on my own, and started exercising again :)
Good job on your loss! I feel great with these 9 days... I really love how it takes away my cravings for meat, bread and sweets! It's so crazy I don't even miss them! I do miss cereal though lol but I get that tomorrow! Make sure you get enough protein everyday or that will also give you a headache :) I'm suppose to weight tomorrow, I started at 179-180lbs and you wait until day 10 to weigh... I'm excited to weigh... but yesterday I started my period so now I'll probably wait until I'm off because it fluctuates my weight GRRR... Have a great day! |

Hello Hello So today is day 10 of my 'Fat Smash Diet' which officially puts me into Phase2 and adds a few extra foods to what I 'can' have! This morning I had a bowl of Special K Fruit & Yogurt, yummy I've been waiting for that!
So you have to wait until day 10 until you weigh.... so I finally weighed this morning... Feb 1st I was 183 lbs.... today Feb 22nd..... 174 lbs =) Yaaayyyyyy 9 lbs!!!! I didn't think it would be that much! Now when I started Fat Smash 10 days ago I was 180 lbs, so in 9 days I lost about 6 lbs :cheer2: |
Yay Jillnicole congrats! I just started FS this week, I am on day 4 but would love to jump in here with you guys if you don't mind. I have read on here how some people have suffered from headaches, I personally haven't had much trouble from that, but I didn't drink much if any soda or coffee, my downfall is chocolate. I have been pleasantly suprised that I haven't really missed it. I work in a school and we had our valentines party day two of FS phase 1 (late due to an ice storm the week before) and I was so proud to resist all those temptations. But I was curious has anyone experienced any other side effects besides the headaches I should look out for? Also I have been a little discourage by the fact that we had another ice storm this week which has made getting the gym difficult but I should still be able to get in a few days.

MANDY... I would love if you joined us! The more the merrier :) I think the headaches are from loss of protein so you just have to figure out a way to have protein from something else :)

If I don't plan my meals in advance, I'm going to fail...it's as simple as that. I also think I need to start a journal of some sort for extra accountability.

I planned on starting one week ago but got hit with a horrible flu... just finished anti-biotics today... it was miserable and I still don't feel up to par, but I will be ok by Monday!

I decided to do EFS because I need to lose more weight- you are doing FS right jilli? I have both books but EFS seems better.... are you having good results on the regular one??
I researched them both lots and I think EFS will work well in the end. Plus I have a friend here who is going to do it with. Thanks for the welcome ladies! I am so pumped about it! |

I did get all done up, lol... Had a good day, didn't have any trouble. It's day 6 and I still can't believe I'm not really craving or missing sweets or bread. I really hope this sticks with me.
Oh and Wifey... I hadn't heard of EFS till I got on this forum, I too wanna know what are the main differences in the program? |
Hey girls! I officially start TOMORROW! YAY! (like i said, was really sick.... :( )
But I have researched this tons! You can do EFS BEFORE or AFTER you do FS!! No order is necessary. You can lose 12-30 lbs in a cycle, which is 3 weeks long. Then repeat the cycles til you reach your goal. He even breaks it up for different body types (alpha, beta and gamma) and adds tips for these (others lose weight quicker) such as eating and workingout. I have both books, but liked this one better, less guessing- it is more set up for you. Here is an example of a day. This is day one, cycle 1: breakfast: 2 egg whites or 1/2 c egg beaters and a piece of fruit meal #2: cup of sliced fresh fruit meal #3: 1 small salad veggies only 3 tb low fat or fat free dressing meal #4: 1/2 c beans, lentils or chickpeas 2 serv veggies you can also have 2 snacks during the day (100 cal or less) Depending on the day there are different amounts of workout time. He does "two a days" sometimes, where you exercise morning and night, which is a bit different.... but it is supposed to boost your metabolism. He changes the meals every cycle, every day. You get more stuff as the cycles go on. ALso there is a list of free snacks, with no calories, unlimited amounts. Also you can have diet soda, alcohol, etc. Some days you have no meat, others you do. Somedays you have smoothies and oatmeal...I mean there is variety, and there are recipes. Also you can have turkey, boca or veggie burgers yummy!!! I will update you each day and then you can see my results and my thoughts, and maybe you can do it too. I would say to check the book out and look it over..... I bought both on half.com and really like EFS more than FS. It seems you can lose weight quicker. So be thinking about me tomorrow- week one is usually the hardest. But we have each other!!! |
Today is day 12 for me I think lol and we still don't get bread but we do get cereal :) I don't miss meat at all... the only meat I've eaten since is like little pieces that are in canned soup. I use to be a huge binge eater no matter how good I was doing on a current diet... and I can HONESTLY say I have not binged once on FS!!! This is definitley a life style change for me.. I'm still nervous about the future but I'm so happy I started this! A few days ago I found some things out about my best friend that really turned my life upside down, but I havn't let it affect my diet, unfortunatly it has affected my exercising :( I havn't exercised since I found out... I just kinda feel dead and weak inside.. so I definitley need to just kick my butt back in gear.
I just bought some Walden Farms 0 calorie dressings/dips... unfortunatly I bought them BEFORE I read all the bad reviews lol... Oh well... So far I have only tried the 'Honey Mustard Salad Dressing' and I do like it. It's not over the top delicious kinda reminds me of something I'd buy at the dollar store lol but EDIBLE ;) Havn't tried the other things but I'm guessing they arn't too great... After I try them all which might take awhile I'm going to post about them. Mandy.... I figred you wouldn't have as much trouble as you thought since you'd be all excited :) Some times when I'm really excited it's so hard to think of eating because I just want all this fun stuff instead haha What'd you end up eating? Wifey..... So you're getting over your sickness right? I can't wait to hear about your first week! That is really sad about your best friend- but don't let it get you down!!! You can do it! Sometimes you just need to take a little time off... it'll be ok and before you know it you will be back to FSing!!! I will post lots about my first week so maybe you can try it out too!

Hey yea, I took some fruit with me and knew if we had to stop somewhere I could always get a salad. I was shopping with my 8 year old and he isn't always the best shopper, so I figured there would be a request to eat out somewhere since we normally do. To my suprise he never even mentioned, worked out great. And I hope thing get better for you this week, Jillnicole.
~Wifey please do bost all about your first week, I'm really curious about the difference, EFS sounds like a great plan too, I think I might check out that book too. But I'm going to stick with this at least through the next phase then I might do a little combining. I'll see if you like it first, ;) I have what may be a silly question too... Mandy................I think you go to Quick Links, Edit Profile, and then on the left hand side it says Edit Avatar... put your pic in there! As for the weight tracker I think you need at least 10 posts before you can get one...
