THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE
When we count our blessings.
It isn't hard to see That lives most valued treasures are the treasures that are free.
For it isn't what we own or buy that signifies our wealth.
It's the special gifts that have no price our family, friends, and health
BE THANKFUL
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something.
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
Because they give you strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes, they will teach you valued lessons.
Be thankful when your tired and weary. Because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.'A life of rich forfillment comes to those who are thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles.
And they can become your blessings.
SUE ~ those are such lovely sentiments and so true; perfect for this special holiday. These words would be so appropriate for CHRISTMAS too. Thanks for posting them for us all!
YES, GARY ~ they are both beautiful and smart young ladies too! Hope you all had a great day.
Sure can tell all the folks here are very busy with family and friends and celebrations; hope you all had a good one too.
Take good care, YFE ROSEBUDPrayers ascending for you and yours ...

Well my Thanksgiving Day was great as usual. Angie and I braved...and missed....the rain yesterday morning as we did our 5K Turkey Trot. We took the dogs and visited with folks along the way so our time was not good...around 54 minutes (we didn't get an official time because we couldn't go down the chute with the dogs) but we had a great time They were expecting 5,000 people but with the rain I think that was down a bit.
We went for coffee afterwards then came home and rested until time for me to make scalloped potatoes and Angie a spiral ham....easy stuff. In the afternoon we went over to my ex-wife's and SO's house. We were joined by my friends and family for an awesome meal. I did over eat some on the main course but stayed away from desserts...only because I was too full I did do better than the past on my portions....not braggin' here though since I should have done much better
Waiting for it to warm up a bit outside and the wet ground to dry a bit then I will start putting up some of the Christmas decorations we have. Angie is at yoga right now and I need her guidance.......on where to place things in the yard and on the house. We usually throw up a fake tree and Ang decorates it to the max but this year she has pre-ordered a real one from the wrestling team at her school to support them, it will be here next week-end.
I have been driving to work past my church for the last couple of weeks. The process started on tearing down our old church...the meeting hall for the last 20 years...anyway Friday it was all gone and emotions all at the same time. My son was baptised as an infant in that church (which as I have mentioned turned into our meeting hall after the new church was built 20 years ago) and we have many fun times with church, school and scouts activities. So looking forward to the New community Center we are building
AUNT SUE ~ Enjoy that shopping!
ROSEBUD ~Hope the chores are done and the snow is "nice"
LAURIE ~I hope your Thanksgiving was nice with your mom
BARGOO ~Continued prayers as we pass each other in the threads
KAREN ~Good to see you every now and then
WILMA ~Years ago there was a Samoan player from my area that was a pretty good Canadian football player...his name was pronounced Pow-Pow but I forget how it was correctly spelled...Paopao?
NITA ANN ~Keep those little "Kids" warm
RONNI ~Any way you can get that 5K in will help! My kids have been to Mall America several times
GINNY ~My step-d is cold too...having to stay in NYC for Thanksgiving this year with work at the zoo.
NUMPSTER ~Yep sometimes I do have long days....especially when I have 2+ commutes each day on top of 8 hrs. work. But it is always changing with us....sometimes close to home...sometimes we stay in hotels...just glad to have work right now!
RUTH ~I loved those church plays when my kids were little
Hi, Everyone! Sounds like everyone has had a busy and enjoyable Thanksgiving/weekend! We had unexpected change in plans and ended up having my mom over on Thanksgiving. Made ham as she is allergic to poultry, but had a nice afternoon playing Monopoly with her-she's cutthroat at that game-who knew Then, DS1, D-I-L and the 4 grandkids came Thursday night and we had the turkey and trimmings on Friday. Had a great time with them-really enjoyed being able to play "grandma" to the kids (ages 10,9,2,and 7months). Some of you may remember that none of them are really my grandkids, as DS1 is my DH's from his 1st marriage and the older 2 grandkids are D-I-L'S from her 1st marriage, but I really love all of them and got some time to visit more with D-I-L. They're not too happy living with DS1's real mother, as she won't clean up the house even though there are little ones there, but they are looking for a house to rent or buy, so may not be there very long. Prayers for that would be appreciated. Beyond that, we are just so happy to be able to see them more often
After all the visitors and eating, the scale showed an increase of about 2 pounds, but I'm hoping most of that is probably water weight and might be gone in a couple days-I guess I'll just deal with whatever. I'm back on plan today.
You've all been in my prayers daily, sometimes even hourly, whenever one of you pops into my mind (God's prodding!) and I hope everyone has a really nice Sunday. Snowing and sleeting here now, so we may not be able to get to church tomorrow, but we'll see what happens in the morning.
HOWDY, EVERYONE ~ I just know that some of you are just recovering from your Thanksgiving Feasts, and the rest of you are glued to that box watching football, football, and more football!
HI RONNI ~ so glad that you were able to spend some fun time with your mom, and your family's children and grandchildren. I think it's so fun to have them around at celebrations like this; Christmas will be an exciting time for them all too. Prayers that they will find a nice home to rent or buy real soon. Thanks for all your prayers as well.
HI GARY ~ yah, we have lots of snow now; seems mother nature is making up for arriving so late. We went a-hunting for all our Christmas decos today; will start putting them up tomorrow, as it was getting dark by the time we found them all. Yah, the 'chores' are getting done, slowly but surely ...
HI GINNY ~ hope you and yours had a lovely Thanksgiving too!
HELLO TO EVERYONE out there in 3FChickie's land ... especially, all our MIA's ...
Hope you all have a blessed and restful Sunday; and take good care of yourselves ~ your fellow encourager ROSEBUDPrayers ascending for you and yours ...
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had a great time and ending up staying the night at my parents and then headed out Friday afternoon for some shopping. I ate too much on both days and ended up 2lbs heavier this morning but I think that will come off quick. Somehow I hurt my leg today while I was doing 30 day shred, during the jumping jacks. Behind my knee is where I first felt the pain, it is really sore now especially when I have been sitting awhile and then get up. I'm sure it will feel better within a few days.
I am watching the Charger game, haven't seen my daughter in law The cameras aren't being cheerleader friendly today.
We had our second Thanksgiving yesterday, my son and dil and daughter and kidnapper came over. We already had Thanksgiving with my son at my ex-wife's but my daughter and sil were away with his mom for the day. A nice afternoon but I really didn't need MORE STUFFING!!! in my belly
Church was cool today, our old church is all torn down now and hauled away
RUTH ~ I hope the knee gets better.
ROSEBUD ~ I did get all my decorations up on the outside and Angie got the inside done....waiting to pick the tree up next week-end.
RONNI ~It is tough with all the "extended" families We have so many around here with Angie and I both being divorced and our large families and my ex-wife's family...large...being close with us...people outside "our world" can't figure out who's who! In fact this morning I had Angie on one side of me and my ex on the other side of me at the altar for communion. Sounds like you had fun...warning...don't ever play Scrabble with Angie...not a pretty picture she goes for the jugular
RUTH ~ have sent up some prayers for that knee: gotta watch those jumping jacks. I couldn't even attempt them with my bad knees and legs. I keep to simpler things like walking, hand-weights, my stretchy band, chair aerobics, ski-walking (gonna get those poles out tomorrow, as they help me walk so much better), and very easy yoga stretches (for the physically challenged like me).
GARY ~ good for you guys, right in time for the month of December. We did get our front deck done today; but we have lost our white bulbs somewhere. Back to hunting tomorrow!
HOPE EVERYONE has a great week coming up!!!
Take good care all, your fellow encourager ROSEBUDand prayers continue for you and yours ....
Happy Monday all!
Hope everyone is doing fine getting back into the swing of things.....and recovering from Thanksgiving. Not enough time to say hello to everyone, but I am thinking of you and praying for you. See you later.
Ginny
HI FOLKS ~ well, we had one doozy of a ***snowstorm*** today; with very nippy northeast winds that freeze your skin right off. We tried to put up our 'penny' lights; got them up, but they look a bit harried. Will have to straighten them up on a warmer day.
Becuz of the storm, we didn't even try to go anywhere today; we stayed home and did some more sorting and planning for Christmas. We found those light bulbs; gee, GOD is faithful ... I prayed and ask my Angels to please show me where they were; here they were in a box right under my desk! Haha; must have put them there for safe keeping.
HI GINNY ~ hope you had a good Monday too; and that those kids aren't straining you out too much on your bus route. My father did that for a while; but I think the strain did get to him eventually becuz he retired from that and went into something else.
Just popped in to say hi; hope you all have a great Tuesday! Your fellow encourager ROSEBUDprayers ...
Rosebud-glad you found those lights and have been able to put up decorations. I love this time of year, usually, but, for some reason, I just don't feel "into it" this year. I'm putting up some things, but may donate some of our decorations. It just seems like too much as I'm aging. Now, send your angels to my house to help me find DS's spare car key. DH had it last and that's always a bad thing.......
Ruth-praying for your knee to get better. I've had knee pain off and on since an ice skating fall in high school, so I know how painful it can be. Don't hesitate to see a doc if it doesn't feel better in a few days.
Gary-I've wished many times over the years that DH's ex was someone we could get along with (you and your ex are probably the exception in most cases), but it's just not going to happen. I always when you talk about doing things with your ex-it's just amazing to me!
Well, not much going on here today, but I have a couple prayer requests. DH is having rotator cuff repair surgery on Monday. So, prayers are needed for safety during surgery and healing afterward. He will be off work at least 3 months and possible 6 months. He has enough sick leave built up, so we won't have financial issues, but our request is for him to get help for his depression and be easier to live with during this next few months. The DS's and I are a little afraid of the tension level raising on a daily basis, since DH will be home, unable to drive for quite awhile, and irritable. Whenever we have mentioned possible depression to our doc, DH sloughs it off and says he can handle it. So, that's maybe part of the reason I'm not looking forward to the holidays this year.
HI EVERYONE ~ we're having another storm right now; so I'm just staying indoors to keep warm. The snow stopped, but it's pretty windy and cold tonight.
RONNI ~ does your DH like to do crafts or puzzles (like jigsaws)? Maybe you and sons could pick him one up for after he has his operation of something he really likes (say cars or trucks) to help him pass the time. Maybe you all could brainstorm ideas for things to keep DH busy and you guys busy too during the next while. Plan outings and activities ahead of time.
Remember that Christmas is about celebrating our LORD's birth; keep it simple. We are doing the same thing this year; keeping things really simple and we are also donating some of our extra stuff to goodwill (lights and decos too), as we have way too much now). Our bodies hurt way too much now, so we are focusing on stuff that is easy to put up, like ornamentals that go on the lawn or front of our deck. For anything difficult like lights, maybe get the DS's to do them; and do just one simple line.
We are skipping the big lights the snow has piled up around the building already and it will be too difficult, so I just suggested today that we forget all that complicated stuff from now on. You don't want to do anything that takes the focus away from the JOY OF THE SEASON. Keep it small and simple.
Both my DH and I had/have serious shoulder injuries; DH had surgery and lost some of his shoulder bone and muscle from deterioration (osteoporosis); we know about shoulder pain. I strained mine again during this move, but it is better now; nothing like rest and pain meds and prayers. Encourage your DH to take low dose tylenol when it's needed, esp to sleep. Surely, his doctors will give him pain meds, but if they don't offer it: be sure to ask for it; even insist on it. Why should he and everyone else suffer when it isn't necessary?
Have sent up prayers for his operations for the doctors and his recovery; and will continue to during the next months. Chin up; look for the positive and don't worry about what hasn't happened yet. Let's all pray for a very successful surgery and recovery plus little pain too!!!
HI TO EVERYONE ELSE ~ hope everyone is having a great first week of December; enjoy every minute of every day folks ... as best you can. That's what GOD wants for us all! Put your focus on Him; put your trust in Him; rely on the promises in His Word; and pray to Him; and praise Him often ... yes, praise Him; there is nothing that lifts your spirits more than when you praise Him in word and song!!!
Take good care, your fellow encourager ROSEBUD prayers ascending for you and yours ...
