  • Week 4 this morning...eeeek...got a 2 5 min runs in there!! Wish me luck!! xx
  • Good luck Jynx, you can do it!
  • Sorry to hear of your injury Redsox, hope you're feeling better soon.

Argh! I'm frustrated! My monday run will likely be put off, time seems to be the biggest issue for me these days. I have stuff to do every night this week only one of those nights is anything active (dog agility on Thursday). Maybe I can run if I get home early enough, I can't run past 8 or so or I'm up until midnight. Anyone else have that problem?
  • Hi everyone!!

I just finished w1D3 and I am very proud of myself.

i have ALWAYS wanted to run but always let my weight scare me away-not anymore!1

i found week 1 okay-not easy, but today's third run I finished without having to talk myself through the last two running intervals.

I'm looking forward to starting week 2 on Wednesday

  • how's everyone's Monday going?

jynx: how did the run go?

nan: good job finishing week 1! It's probably the hardest one since it's so new to the body. Thrive from the excitement!

well, today was W7D1..I was up and off to work early and was able to get the run in around 3:30 this afternoon. The good news is that I was able to finish the 25 minutes! I didn't think I was about 12 minutes in, but i slowed the pace to 5.0 and completed it..then I cooled down for about 5 minutes and wanted to see 3.1 on the treadmill so I ended up running another 5 minutes and ended up at 3.14. Whew so now i'm icing the leg while the boy makes dinner. Hope everyone's runs are going great today!
  • what speed does everyone run/jog/walk at?

I thought I was at a good speed but it seems most people I read about are going faster.

    I walk at 3.0 and run(jog) at 4.5

My goal is not speed I just want to be able to get to running 30minutes straight.

Am i going too slow though?
  • Nantucket, I think you should run wherever you are. You can increase the speed later.

But because I'm curious about what others are doing, I walk at 3.7 and run at 5.0.

W5D1 for me. That's three five minute runs. It's getting easier!! The first five minutes were, dare I say easy? The second five minutes were a good workout and the third I really didn't want to do. Just like weight lifting reps!! LOL!

I'm really worried about that 20 minute run on day three of this week. And yet, I'm toying with running 24 minutes so that my 5.0 mph pace will bring me to a full 2 miles.
  • Nantucket - just run wherever you are the speed will come when you get comfortable with the running. When I was doing C25K, I walked at 3.5 to 3.8 and ran at 5.5... I've worked up to averaging over 6.0 on a good (non-windy) day on my runs now (about 3 miles)

Eliana - I totally understand that! I dreaded the 8 min runs but of course, when I got to the end... I saw the mileage on the TM and wanted to run more to make it a round number... I guess I got more exercise from it. Heh.

For me it sounds more impressive to say "I ran two miles!" than to say "I ran 20 minutes!" LOL! The first sounds impressive, the other sounds easy, even though they're the same thing.
  • Back on the horse today. Just did a lot of walking last week. Allergies are kicking my butt. Makes it hard to breathe. Got the 30 day shred also at Target and may throw that in the mix. Hopefully I can get through W5 this time. That last day kicks my butt.
  • Great job everyone! I'm still here, on the sidelines, cheering you on. I think I'll be strong enough tomorrow for a short walk.

Keep up the great work Ladies!
  • Week 2 day 1 done

I decided to up my speed a bit to 5.0. It was going well at first but around teh 15:00minute mark I thought I was going top be sick so I went down to 4.5 for the final run.

It was hard, really hard but I did it!
  • I had to slow down my speed after starting the last week I was getting really discouraged and thinking of quitting. I only slowed by .5 but still I feel bad about it, the running got a lot easier though. What's more important? Should I repeat the last week until I can do it faster or should I just move on at the slower pace? I was supposed to do a 5km fun run at the end of the month but I don't think we're going to have the money for me to enter.
  • Woooo - last run tomorrow AM! I think I am going to start over tho when I am finished to increase speed. I walk at 4.0 and run at 4.8 right now, I want to finish a 5K in 30 minutes!

AuntyJam - slow your runs down to get it done. If you do not feel confident enough to go to the next week, repeat the week. DON"T QUIT - it will be harder to start over again!
  • lights: congrats on almost being done! You're doing the exact same thing I'm doing! I walk at 3.7 and run at 5.2 (except when I want to dieeeeee and I lower it to 5.0) and I plan to do it again when I'm done with 5.2 as my slow and 6.2 as my run so I can get to 30 min 5k.

I just completed W7D2, it went a lot better this time. I completed it with ease and the first time I checked the timer it'd been 15 mins already! I added 2 minutes of 6.2 after a quick 3 min cooldown walk and it felt like I was FLYING. I'm not sure how I'll get to that point!! I've done the entire thing insidfe and I'm going on vacation next week so it'll be my first time outside. I've done it all with a .5 incline so I'm hoping it'll be a smooth transition.

On a good note, today I took Bayer prior to going for the run and my leg didn't throb to the point of tears! I just want to finish and then get it checked. I have tendonitis in my knee so I'm assuming that it's just an inflammed tendon that hasn't gotten used to the idea of me running.
