11 miles. I was dragging my butt miserably the entire time. I had an overall pace of 10:02 and average heart rate of 160. I always feel like this on morning runs. In addition to that my garmin took a century to find a satellite and ughhhhh bad run. Time to drag my butt to work!
I've been so depressed about my running, or rather the lack thereof.
About 3 weeks ago, on a beautiful spring FL day I decided to go run on our local trail. The honeysuckle smelled so good, and the day was so pretty that I did 6 miles (with some walk intervals), a personal record. The next day though, I had no voice and my face was swollen like a chipmunk. What I hadn't realized was that the pollen was horribly high. It triggered massive problems with my sinuses that I've been dealing with every since.
On my second doctor's visit my Doc nixed the idea of running outdoors for at least a couple of months. My chiropractor had already banned me from any major running on treadmills for awhile. Where the heck am I going to run? Or should I just walk steep inclines on a treadmill to burn more calories. (Chiro is fine with me walking on a treadmill, not the running )
Last night my BIL dropped by with a pamphlet on the local community colleges' indoor track. BINGO! So tonight I'm going to go check out the indoor track. It's got resilient flooring which my chiro is thrilled with and air filtration which is what my doctor wants.
Anyone ever run on an indoor track before? What should I expect?
+3.1 this morning. I tried something like Lydia's treadmill HIIT pattern from the May Weight & Resistance chat (varying speeds & incline) and it kicked my tail but good!
dixied - you could also go the elliptical route. It's like no impact, so that should make your chiropractor happy...
+7 today
I'm one of those few folks who doesn't like the elliptical. I asked my chiro about it, thinking I could just "deal with it", but I think this indoor track is really going to work well for me. I did 4 miles last night and it was AWESOME. No pain anywhere, and I felt "fast" again. This morning I ended up on the recumbant bike at the gym just to add some variety and did 6 miles of intervals, I cranked up the resistance past where I normally would. My legs feel like jelly. I love that feeling!
What's the distance of the track, Dixie? I think the only thing it to watch the curves. When I go to the high school track I try to alternate directions if I can (ie if I am the only one using the track). One time I ran 5 miles on the track all in one direction and my knees really bothered me.

I'm glad you have found a good option!
10-1/2 laps equals a mile. I did find myself leaning a bit on the curves, I guess I thought I was a motorcycle. I'm going this morning to find a lap counter, I can't seem to count past 3 laps without getting distracted and losing count. I tried a couple of stores yesterday with no luck, so I'm headed to office depot of all places for a tally counter. It's just a little clicker device used to take attendance and count votes. Never thought I'd buy running supplies there. Someone suggested putting pennies in my pocket and switching from one pocket to the other to keep track, but can you imagine the noise?
EZ - Why didn't you go to yoga with her? That could have made for a really special date night. Unless you twited yourself into a pretzel and had to spen the night at the ER, which would have been special in a whole other way.

My watch has a stop watch function with a lap counter. It's just a Nike digital watch. But if you had a watch with a lap counter, you just press the button with each lap and it will hold your count for you.
Do you mean ten 1/2 laps equal a mile or 10 and a half laps equal a mile? I think you meant the latter---that is a lot of laps to keep track of! Is there a higher quality high school track you could use (meaning the track is higher quality, not the high school, although higher quality high schools usually have higher quality tracks!). 4 laps = 1 mile that way.
