Registered...C'Yall there!!!
|
I'll join that group - since the iPod tracker will only work for my outside runs - sounds like fun - I'm off to join now! :D
|
Yay! I'm so glad everyone's getting on the runningahead.com bandwagon! I'll join the group as well, even though I won't be running any time soon. If anyone feels like looking at my running log from when I WAS running, my name on the site is LisaMDJ. I love logging my runs on there -- especially this past summer when I was training for my half and I had lots of longer runs to throw on there and be proud of!

Ewww. Only 2 miles today - new shoes, and some confusion (my technical ineptitude!) with the iPod. Also, my long length running pants keep falling down... not pretty! Bah. This losing weight thing is great - except for having to get new clothes - !

see, I dont think I can join runningahead now. I was a moron and didnt download my coolrunning data before the move to active, so now it is stuck on active and I cant get it off. So if I move I lose 3 years worth of data.
All I want is good data tracking. I could start there, but it is sad to lose all that history you know? |
Active says they will send me an excel sheet of my data (eyes rolling at the likelihood that it will all be there as much of it was missing in active) if runningahead can get it in there I'll switch. I may switch anyway and manually load my 2008 data. The shoe tracking data is kinda important but I can fudge that if need be.
OK I am sold...this is even better logging than cool runnings was...I'll get my key data in there if I can and fudge the rest. |
I GOT MY OLD DATA OUT WOOOHOO!!!!
Now I just have to re-enter my data since I started at Active and I am good to go...so long active!!!! It took less time to import my old data to runningahead than it does to log ONE run on Active. Fortunately I have been sick a lot lately so there isnt that much data to add! |
I've been logging my workouts for January on runningahead and it's really cool :bravo:

Beginning walk/jogger here.
Is there any way on runningahead to log treadmill miles? It seems to ask for outdoor conditions only. Also, what is fartlek? Tempo? |
you can log any kind of miles you want. You dont HAVE to put a route in or fill in any of the other stuff. I dont do weather unless I specifically feel the weather affected me (i.e. icy or 103 degrees)
If you want to designate treadmill miles separately (I do) then create a route named "treadmill" - just name a route and save it, ignore the mapping fartlek is "speed play" - free form speed work, it usually takes the form of running along, pick a mailbox or telephone pole and run faster for some random period of time (i.e. 2 telephone poles) and then return to normal pace. tempo run is best used once you have been running awhile. Tempo is a pace typically described as "10K - 1/2 marathon race pace" and is an extended run at that pace. It might look something like warmup for 2 miles at an easy pace, run for 2-6 miles at tempo, cool down. It is a stamina technique. My log is messed up on what the different types of runs are called, mine all say steady state, but actually steady state is another specific paced stamina workout (slower than a tempo, faster than a standard run) |
5.5 miles for me this morning - that's my longest run so far, and I really feel like my goal of 10K is in reach. I FEEL like a runner! :D
|
Ennay, glad you could get your old data :)
Heather, congrats on the 5.5 miles. That's on my training schedule this weekend, six miles next weekend and then my 10k the weekend after that! I did 2 miles this morning. |
Heather - you won't have a problem with 10k if you can do 5.5 miles.
I also have a treadmill course saved. I have a load of routes saved because I used to measure all my runs on there, but now I've got my Garmin I just pick the one with the best description and change it to the actual mileage if it was a slightly different route. I put weather down if it's particularly memorable (pouring rain, strong winds, extreme heat), but not most of the time. I rarely do the temperature (except for extreme heat again). I also don't often do notes or details about what intervals I did, but I still find what I have entered very useful to look back on. I kind of did tempo this morning, I did 1 mile warm up, then 3 miles at what my schedule called "brisk", then a cool down until I got to the gym (1.4 miles). It was between marathon and half marathon pace, so probably a nice speed for a bit of a sustained effort during marathon training. At the moment my main problem seems to be slowing down enough for my longer runs. I've done more speedwork than normal in the gap between Amsterdam/New York and marathon training, and now I'm more used to 5k pace, it's a struggle to slow back down to marathon training pace. I know that I can't sustain 5k pace for 26 miles, so I need to run slower, but it just feels so slow when I try! |
actually going on that site may have given me the kick in the pants I needed. I answered a question about weightloss and pace and realized that the 6 lbs I have regained was probably the difference between a sub 4 marathon and my 4:02:53 and that some of my predictors are falling off as well. Some of it is due to injury, but some of it is my reformed gut.
I think I look fine, I am healthy, but binging is hurting my running. NOW I care. (sleep and depression apparently werent motivating) |
Hey gals! Three miles for me this morning (plus a one mile jog to the gym). My iPod sensor said it's low on battery. Already?! I got the thing for Christmas and have only logged 45 miles on it. That seems like it went a bit fast. I'm not interested in buying a new one every three weeks. Anybody else have experience with these?
