OK I just figured it out! We have an Autumn Fest (3 day event) here in our little town, the last weekend of September. The event starts off with a mile run for the kids to participate in. The start of Saturday is a 5K run here in town followed by the parade and such. I have decided to make that my goal...to run that with others from my community! I believe in myself and think that is more than enough time to build up to that, what do you all think?
|
Chela, you can definitely be ready for that - my guess is you could prob be ready by May for a 5K! Running comes more easily/quickly than you think :)
|
Thanks scenestealer, I was hoping to be so that will get me there and time to keep practicing!
|
Morning all! Helen, I thought the same as Kara when I read your post - she ran 3000 miles in NINETEEN DAYS? :lol3: I need to try waking up before I log on here! ;) Fantastic work!!
Laura, glad the thigh is starting to feel better!! Lisa - from one teacher to another - praying for snow for you!! ;) I'm off to check out that runningahead.com site... |
I am indeed on runningahead.com - highly recommended. I think if you go onto my running blog (linked in my sig) there is a link to my training log on the sidebar - that will take you to runningahead and you can see what I do.

Update: my leg is feeling absolutely fine today (no pain or soreness whatsoever), and this after I did another 4.7 miles on the elliptical last night!I know the elliptical isn't the same as actual running, but at least it gave me some low-impact mileage. So, I signed up for the half-marathon last night. I'm SO excited - week and a half to go!
|
 that runningahead site thanks !!
|
I did 3 miles, in the rain, pushing a stroller no less!
Scenestealer--glad you leg is feeling better, a half marathon, how exciting! Chelavon--I think that's more than enough time! You could probably do one before that with ease. I did my first 5k about 2 weeks after I finished C25k and did pretty decently. Good luck and keep it up! |
Okay all - I caved and bought the Nike+ iPod thingy for my shoe... and new shoes - hahaha!! - and some outdoor running gear... but I am going to wait until tomorrow to try it all out. Maybe I'm tired from all that shopping!
I also signed on to runningahead.com - marvelous! |
Laura - well done on signing up for the half - very exciting!
I did just over 7 miles this evening. The first 3 miles or so were chatting with someone I haven't seen for about a month (and comparing our new Garmins - she's got the 205 and I've got the 305), then I sped up a bit towards the end. Tomorrow is a rest day. Would anyone be interesting in starting a 3FC group on runningahead? |
A running group on runningahead would be fun... although I'm no heavy duty runner
Heather -- Aren't new running toys fun :woohoo: |

To sign up you can probably go straight to that link, or if you click on the community tab at the top of the page on runningahead, then go to groups you should be able to find it if you search for 3FC or 3 Fat Chicks. You should then be able to join it. I've never done this before though, so let me know if it doesn't work and I'll fiddle around with the settings...
|
Oh, I'm headed off to join the group as soon as I log off of here! Thanks for setting it up, Helen!
Laura, so glad to hear your thigh is feeling better! Yay! Good for you for letting it heal! Chela, have fun training for your 5K! Having a race goal is so motivating! Leeda, way to go running in the rain! With a stroller, no less! Superwoman you are!!! Ilene! Heather, have fun with your new shoes and gear! I find my iPod sensor to be not terribly accurate, but it's definitely within +/-0.1 mile so that's good enough for me. I love how it cues you to the mileage, and a couple runs ago, Lance Armstrong up and came on my iPod telling me I'd set a new mile-personal record! I didn't know he lived in my iPod! I got in my scheduled four miles today in the freezing (literally, it was -7*C outside!) windiness! I have discovered that I do not prefer running outside in the winter. Hopefully Germany will have a winter that isn't so frigid. Off to finish up dinner - portobello burgers over romaine tonight! Kara |
O-be-kay-be, I got registered on the runningahead site. It's just Helen and me so far, so come on over gals!!!
