Probably. If I suddenly start banging out some PRs I would likely recalibrate, but my pace has been pretty stable for 4 years. Ballpark accuracy is good enough for me though.

Welcome Liz! Glad to have you on board!

I trudged through my four miles this afternoon. I'm still recovering from a cold, so I think that's sapping some of my energy. I did it, though. That's what's important!

3.3 miles today - but outside! Big deal for me... hope my treadmill will forgive me!

 hey Liz...

Had a nice 5k run this morning... took me 40 mins, I'm such a :snail: but I don't care :D ...

HeatherAngel 01-08-2008 05:12 PM

Ahhh, Ilene - you must be somewhere near me... this very UN-January weather pulled me out for my 5K this morning, too! :D

Heather it was gorgeous here, I'm in Cornwall.... I've since discovered that I sprained my ankle/heal though... I thought it was a bit sore when I got home I iced it then I relaxed a bit and when I got up OUCH it was painful... I tried going around a little old lady on the side I thought she wasn't going to take then she decided to go on that same side and I sorta fell in a crack in the sidewalk...
:coach: So let's be careful out there girls and boys, it doesn't take much to sprain something

I'm still taking a break from running due to the weird pain in my left thigh :( It's only been there today and yesterday, so I'm not overly concerned yet, but I just want it to get better so I can get some mileage in! It was weird tonight to watch Biggest Loser while sitting on the couch instead of cruising on the elliptical.

Had my 10K over the weekend. Unsure about how I feel with the results. On the one hand it is a PR because I dont run many 10k's, although it is slower than a 7 miler I did last year. Last fall I was running at a predictor for 50-51 min 10K, and it ended up being 52:50. But I didnt run for 2 months so I lost a lot. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I could be disappointed in a 53 min 10K. The kicker is that I have been sick ever since with some weird stomach bug that started about 5 am before the race (I thought it was nerves) so maybe that was a pretty darn awesome 10K.

Slid down my driveway on a sheet of ice this morning but I had already fueled up to run so I went to the gym to dreadmill. :p

Ennay,
That was a pretty darn awesome 10K!!!

53 with a stomach bug coming on is great, don't stress about it!

I did just over 10 miles this evening. It seemed like a good idea when I set out, but by the time I was committed to doing the full distance rather than taking a short cut it started to absolutely pour with rain, and the last few miles were not fun at all. Still, you can't control the weather on race day as I keep reminding myself when I have to force myself out in it.

I'm running into work tomorrow too, so hopefully it will dry up overnight.

Well...the good news is I am not preggo :carrot: I really absolutely shouldn't be able to be, but doesnt stop a girl from fretting when she has had the queasies for 4 days straight and nothing makes it feel either better or worse ....combined with periodic dizziness and killer fatigue.... wait, when have I felt this before?:o :yikes::faint:

the bad news is I am sure of this because while I have heard of dh's getting sympathetic pregnancy symptoms, I have never heard of 1 year olds getting them:no:. Gotta go clean my car now. :dizzy:

I just ran a very short run outside (1.4 miles), and my left upper thigh has started to hurt again. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? I created a new thread in this forum, but no one replied, and I'm a little stumped. Basically, it's like my left upper outer/back thigh - not quite my hip/butt though - and it's sore like I slept on it wrong, but worse. On Monday it was awful, so I was walking with a slight limp all day, Tuesday it was just slightly sore, and today it was fine, so I did the short run tonight. Now it's just slightly sore (less so than yesterday), but I'm worried that the run hurt it more and it will flare up overnight. Anyone ever experienced anything like this? I will definitely not be running more till I figure it out!

ennay 01-09-2008 10:59 PM

Laura - possibly piriformis or psoas. Not sure what to tell you except ice, rest and stretch.

I have a chronic psoas pain (I think it is psoas, no one has ever been able to tell me) that comes and goes and gets neither better nor worse with running and gets worse with rest. Ironically although I have NEVER seen this as a remedy for ANY kind of pain, it tends to get better with races. I have had it be almost crippling a few days before a race and then after the race it disappears...no clue why.

tomandkara 01-10-2008 02:30 AM

Laura, hope it feels better soon! I have no ideas...sorry...

Ennay, glad to hear you're happy about not being preggo! I think your 10K time was terrific as well - about ten minutes faster than I could've run it!

Look at my ticker! I "ran a marathon"! Do you think I'll be able to finish it in less than a week and a half on race day?!

Off to put away groceries.

Kara

HeatherAngel 01-10-2008 10:09 AM

Morning! Kara - you're funny! You're doing great!

Ennay, if you're happy, we're happy :D But if you DO want to pop out a sprog, you cans end it to me, COD. ;)

Laura - sorry to hear you're in pain :( Hope you feel better soon - nothing more frustrating than not being able to run for an injury.

Helen - you're amazing. Would you like to be my new hero? ;)

Okay - running day for me, though I haven't gone yet.. okay, okay - I'm GOING! :lol3:

Heather :D
