Thank you for the welcome ! Thank you for the motivation. You have no idea how much I need it. I am in the mindset where I just want to eat whatever I want and not care. However, when I go to put my clothes on I get upset with myself that everything is so tight that I just want to throw it away.
I made a major change 2 months ago when I stopped drinking diet coke. I am and was a diet coke addict, lol. I figured I would stop one thing at a time, and now that I have conquered diet coke I figure it's time to give up sweets.
Firstly a big to chikitababe lovely to have you on board. Has MEOWEE said when having physical challenges to overcome the weight loss journey is that wee bit harder. Firstly Holly look how far you have come on your weight loss journey you have lost a big chunk of weight and that is a great achievement. I think as many find that last few 10 to 20 pounds are difficult to budge. If at all possible try and work into your calorie intake a sweet treat or carb for that matter. That way you will not have to work like crazy to burn those extra calories. I have a sweet tooth I must confess and especially around the time of the month the sweeter the better Oops I digress.
Like yourself I have physical challenges which limit my exercise regime namely I have MS. So you have to play it day by day to let me see what my body will allow. I have found people on this thread a huge support when times have got a little bumpy along the road but it is a great comfort that someone understands what it is like when the body will not do as you want it to do and it is failing you.
Sorry best sign off ladies as we are experiencing a thunderstorm. So take care for now and bye bye
Hi purple . Thank you for the welcome! I get discouraged when I yo-yo in weight, but often forget that when I had my third child almost 7 years ago I weighed 181 pounds and have lost a bit. Thank you for the reminder! I am sorry to hear that you have MS, but, it is great that you are trying to be healthy.
Well, today was a HUGE challenge. We went to a family reunion where there was junk food galore...chips, soda, diet soda, burgers, hot dogs, mayonaise laiden salads, cakes, brownies, YIKES...you get the picture. I did sooo well; I had 2 slices of watermelon, a piece of bbq chicken (ate the skin though ), and some black cherries. People were like "these cakes are sooo good".....my reply is yea, they look good but I am trying to BE good, lol! So, I made it one day without junk. I know it sounds silly, but, it really is a triumph for me, lol. I did manage to get a little exercise in too....I push mowed for 45 minutes.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. I guess it's back to work tomorrow!
HELLO EVERYONE ~ just came in to check in; I can't believe I have been gone for so long. Our holiday was extended to this Wednesday, so I'll be able to do a proper catch-up then. I had to come home today, as my BIL, who is a piano tuner, wanted to start a tune-up of my 100 year old piano for me.
It will take him a while, so we are heading back up to the cottage and he will follow us later. We also needed to pick up a few things as I had only taken enuff stuff for 8 days, not 11. We are having a great time; listening to music, dancing, playing games, and visiting ...
MEOWEE ~ THANK YOU SO MUCH for starting up the JULY thread for me; I had planned to do that before I left for our holidays, and plum forgot with the rush of packing and such. Nice that you are here to help out like that.
Sorry about that hemmorage in your eye; I have a had a couple of small one in my lower right eye that upset me, but they went away in a couple of days. What are they from; is it from blood pressure or something like that? I never really new what was causing them; and yes, they don't look good. The last one (I had just over a week ago), was a bit sore too. I hope this doesn't become a regular problem for me.
VAL ~ I have half of the 5K race done; and will finish the rest this week. We have been doing a little dancing; I hope that helps. Well, I have slipped a bit on this holiday (way too many treats); so I will have to get back at it hard when we get back. I'm gonna have to re-double my efforts for sure.
HEY PURPLE ~ on the 8+ plus stone that you've lost; you have done fabulously girl. Thanks for the well-wishes on our holiday; it feels weird to go away from home for so long; the place seemed odd when we came back.
CHIKITA ~ your move to Florida sounds like fun; you have done well for someone who has had three children, and have already lost quite a bit of weight ...
Hope all our American friends had a great JULY 4TH HOLIDAY! Well, I'm off again; will be back on Wednesday night sometime. Take care, and thanks for keeping this thread going ladies: your friend ROSEBUD

It has been a busy day for me today as I have had family to dinner my BIL and family. So I made sure it was a health meal even down to the dessert which was my banana, unsweetened cocoa powder and vanilla essence blitzed up in the blender to a smooth paste. It makes a small desert but nice for the end of a meal to round it off especially when you have guests.
CHITKABABE WOW you did so well especially with all those goodies there to tempted you. You need to give yourself a big pat on the back for how well you did and the good choices you made. So you ate the skin on the chicken I think you are allowed especially as you are from the States and it has been a weekend for celebration. Another amazing bit of exercise you got in was pushing around a lawn mower for 45 minutes think of the amount of calories that must have burnt off.
It is easy to get in the mindset of focusing on the negative things we get in what I call the revolving door situation and you go round in circles only seeing the bad points in yourself. Sometimes it takes an outsider to stop this going on and say hey wait a minute look how far you have come. You have done so tremendously well even given up coke. Better woman than I I still have about 1 to 1/2 a can a day. I will not allow myself anymore than that. I wish I would give up this comfort blanket I hide under but I will tackle my weight first then have ago at that.
I gave up cigarettes some 7 or 8 years ago which was really hard and made me pile even more weight on. I have never been slim my sister has always been very slender and I have always been very overweight. Though I hit my 40's and thought it is now or never to tackle my weight. So for the first time ever I have really tackled it with earnest. I think this weight is the lowest I can ever remember being in my adult life. The one thing I am getting from people now is are you stopping losing weight now surely your at your proper weight for your height. Well my BMI suggests that I am not at my proper weight for my height and still carry a lot of weight on my hips and waist. The one good thing with being tall it makes me carry my weight well so people can not believe I am as heavy as I am.
Well it is time for me to go and get my night medications. So bye bye ladies and take care of yourselves.
I am back again as I posted my posted I noticed Rosebud had posted at the same time. So I came straight back to just say a quick hello glad your having a wonderful time with your family.
Thanks for the well wishes on my 8 stone that I have lost much appreciated. Hope the rest of your holiday is just as nice. So till your safe return take care xx
Well . . . I'm running late again . . . been cleaning closets this morning (I have to be "in the mood" for stuff like that). Anyway I was ruthless about throwing stuff away -- 8 bags for garbage and 3 bags for Salvation Army -- I'm so proud, but exhausted and very hot and sticky, even with the A/C going full blast.
Hope everybody else has a great moving and shaking kind of day also . . .
yay Rosebud is back! (I missed the whole 'you going on vacation' part) welcome back! Did you take pictures!? Dont be too hard on yourself about the 5k -- the whole point is just to encourage us to be active
hi Purple and meowee and welcome chikita! Hope you all are enjoying the summer
hopefully I will get a chance to come by before I head south on Friday to see CIRQUE DU SOLEIL!! (it's on my 'do before I turn 30 list')
It was was missing in action yesterday as it was my busy day yesterday as I was up early for me at 7.30am went along to have my oxygen therapy. I ended up going to bed it was so tiring for me.
I feel better today for having my oxygen therapy. I went shopping in the city today. Feel like I have walked the length and breadth of it well I definitely have done my exercise today I also managed to get a couple of pieces of jewellery in the sale and from the market 2 lovely cardigans.
VAL
Gosh has the CIRQUE DU SOLEIL come round already I can not believe it. When you booked it seemed ages away now it is here. I hope you have a wonderful time there in Winnepeg. I think that is where you said it was going to be held. Nice to have a list of things to do list before a certain age.
MEOWEE
Wow you have been busy clearing out your wardrobes and all in a good cause for the salvation army. I bet you have made lots more room to put new clothing as your body changes with losing weight.
It looks as though it is going to rain again today. Yesterday it rained constantly the fine drizzle sort. Today at the minute it is not raining but it is looking very likely looking at the sky.
Nothing planned for today until going out tonight for playing cards, plus fitting in a walk before the rains start. So all in all a lazy day which I can handle Tomorrow will be much busier as we will be going to my parents house in the morning. Then on to pick strawberries / raspberries at a pick your own farm a couple of miles from my parents home. Not done this for a few years as last year the weather for our summer was so wet that it destroyed the fruits. I will pick more raspberries as I do not mind those frozen though strawberries I do not like after they are defrosted due to their high water content.
No more news to gossip about today So till next time take care
for the raspberries they are my favourites -- the strawberries run a close second, though.
Well, one more disgustingly hot and sticky day to get through and then things are supposed to cool down considerably for Friday. The humidex at 9:00 pm last night was still reading 39C/102F. Today is the usual Thursday 'mall-crawl' with my buddy LouLou -- wonder what I'll wear? I know the outside places will be extremely hot and expect that the inside places will be far too cold.
Hope everybody else has a great moving and shaking kind of day . . .
HIYA CHICKIES ~ Ya, I'm finally back and at my PC again. My SIS & BIL decided to stay one more night; they left this morning. DH and I spent the day bringing stuff back home and cleaning the cottage before we left. We finally got back around 7 pm tonight, but everything is done and now we can flop ...
We put away all the essentials and the rest can wait until tomorrow; I think DH has already crashed (into bed) early.
HEY PURPLE ~ HI to you too; it seems weird to have been gone for so long. Loved to spend so much time with my SIS & BIL and the time seemed to fly by. We played lots of games each night too. We also had some adventures as well though. At first the hot water wouldn't come on and a plummer said it was an element and fixed that; then a few days later, our toilet busted ~ what a mess that was! Of course, it had to happen on a weekend, so we had to wait to Monday and then DH installed the new one for the owner (he's handy that way).
HI VAL ~ Yes, I got some pics; I'll try and show you some. I think I walked the 5K at least three or four times over this holiday; it seemed like I was on my feet a good part of the time. We kept busy, busy, busy the whole week and a half (well, it turned out to be a 12 day holiday if you count arrival and departure days). We sure got an areobic workout today ... mega housecleaning, but we left the place spic and span.
MEOWEE ~ sorry to hear that you get such fowl weather out there in the east. I would have a hard time tolerating that much humidity. We had a lot of rain which brought out the Skitters and No-See-ums all the more, but we did get 4 or 5 days of sun. Yesterday was cool but that was good cuz the bugs hate that and stayed away; and today it was gorgeous: sunny with cloudy breaks and a nice breeze.
Well, I'll share some more about our holidays tomorrow; got lots of work to do to get all the linen and clothes laundered over the next few days. Glad to see that everyone is doing well here and we even have a NEWBIE: CHICKITA: do come back and post often, so that we can get to know you better!
Take care, your friend ROSEBUD

Hi Ladies
This is a very flying visit this morning as I am due to go to mum and dad's soon then off to pick strawberries and raspberries (yummy).
I ended up going to bed very early for me as I was so tired, we cancelled going out because of this which is so unlike me. Feel somewhat better this morning with a good nights rest behind me.
Good to see you back Rosebud and that you have had a wonderful time even if the cottage did throw up some problems. It is all part and parcel of a family holiday.
My neice is due to go to over to Ireland in under two weeks time. Her parents will take her to the airport and her uncle will pick her up the other side. Whilst she is over there the rest of my neices family (ie mum, dad, and sisters) will join her for their holiday. I think she is stopping for a month where as here parents are there for 10 days I think. I know that she is very excited about going over to see her cousin who is this same age.
Right time to shift myself otherwise I will be getting dresses in the car not a pretty site I am sure bye bye ladies till next time
