Default So tired of being sick, tired, and fat

I swear, everytime I try to lose weight, something physical happens. For years I battled with endometriosis, and finally had a hysterectomy (and both ovaries removed) last fall (at 26). I don't think my hormones are right (had them switched once already) I am HUNGRY all the time. I had my thyroid removed when I was 15, so that's an obstacle too. I have Lupus w/ moderate to severe joint pain/fatigue. Now I've been diagnosed with this awful baldder condition-Interstitial Cystitis- back in December. My bladder hurts when I take a short walk, and I can have no artificial sweeteners, limited water, and limited fruits. It's just sooooo frustrating. I feel sometimes like I'm making excuses, then I feel like I might be depressed, but some days it's just so hard to get out of bed- especially with two kids.

Any advice on how to handle this with weight loss? Tips? TIA

I would really talk to a nutritionist. I feel your pain in the thyroid department (had mine removed over a year ago). My best advice is to just start eating less, by cutting your portions in half. It helps to have a friend hold you accountable. you will be hungry, but just push yourself. It'll suck for two weeks, but once you get over that hurdle, it'll help. I'd also talk to your doctor(s). The most you can do now is just to start eating less. Good luck.

Thanks! I'm counting calories now and will see how that works. I've never talked to a nutritionist, do I ask my primary doctor about it?

it really IS much harder with extra hurdles like that. The thing that does me in is pain and lack of sleep.. put those two together and me staying on plan feels 500 times harder.

If it is hard to do your daily activities.. tell your doctor. I know it can be like fighting a losing battle trying to lose weight with fatigue and depression.

As for helping with weight loss... what worked for me was calorie counting/chugging water like no other... as well as low impact exercise like walking. That and following my calorie limit reeally closely.

Your eating plan is probably the best place to start and cutting portions and/or counting calories works well for this. Have you thought of low impact TAI CHI and YOGA or PILATES? These are all much easier on the joints than other activities, and like VAL says, walking is a good choice; and is the most recommended physical activity. You certainly have lots to deal with right now.

Yeah, I'd ask your doctor for any referrals to nutritionists. The only thing my doctor told me to do is to watch my portions, but I don't have the same health problems as you do, so you might need to do more.
