MONET: I am a lazy butt EVERY DAY. Believe me, missing one day is nothing. You are awesome if you walk every day or even 4 days a week! BTW, I am in Atlanta area too and I can vouch for you - It's SUPER COLD!! I accidentally wore a skirt with boots and no tights yesterday w/o checking the forecast. FREEZING!
JEANNE: I know what you mean about feeling better when someone else has the same problems. I feel better too, because I feel like less of a failure and loser if I'm not alone. I hope that you and I both LOSE WEIGHT when Jan. 1 gets here. OK, Jan. 2. Also, I must confess that I ate out of stress yesterday. As soon as I got home from work, I raided the pantry and it was because I knew my dh was on an important (possibly life changing) phone call in the next room and I was nervous. I see all this in hindsight, but thought I was "hungry" at the time.
JOSIAN: I gained about 20 lbs from the time I met my husband till we got married - less than a year! I guess it was the stress of trying to plan a wedding in a short time, the happiness and laziness of being in a content relationship, and getting my birth control pills worked out. Now I've gained about 10 more lbs and I think my poor dh fell in love with a much thinner woman only about 4 yrs ago. BTW, he's gained a few as well.
MEOWEE: What is the "old 80/20 rule"? Way to go on sticking with your diet! That is quite an accomplishment at this time of year!
Yep, we did get our snow . . . but only a couple of inches . . . of the really wet and heavy kind and the guy who does my driveway hasn't shown up yet . . . maybe he figures it will melt soon anyway because it is supposed to warm up later in the week. In the meantime, it isn't enough to keep you housebound or anything. As a matter of fact, it looks kind of pretty . . . of course I'm only saying that because it is the first time this year. After a few more storms, I won't be thinking kind thoughts about snow any more.
Discovered a new low-cal, low-carb taste treat . . . Mango/Lime Salsa . . . great on fish and on chicken. The kind I got is President's Choice which is a house brand of Loblaws which is a Canadian chain, but I imagine you'll find something similar in one of the local US brands or one of the international brands. Whatever . . . try it . . . you'll like it.
The old 80/20 rule just means that if you do good stuff 80% of the time, the other 20% probably won't ruin things completely. You can apply the same philosophy to almost anything.
Anyway . . . glad to hear everybody is doing OK even if not perfect . . . but hey, perfect can be so boring sometimes Keep things moving and shaking gang. Just do your best and the rewards will follow. See you soon.
NOt as cold as it has been but snow is on the way and even more this week end,,,my bs was way up there 180 this morning,, ,,I work today so it will be better ,always do better at work,,I have been having these way ups and way downs,,then eat to bring the downs up and end up with a high in the a,m,,,,crazy,,before we left to go shoot darts last night it was 60,,ate something and took my shoot and it came up,,by the time I got home it was low again so ate again and it was high this morning,,,think I will try the tabs next time and not eat,,

Yesterday, I had a BG of almost 400 in the afternoon for no reason that I could see. It took over 20 units of Novolog to bring it down, and it was still 196 when I got up this morning.... I'll keep a close eye on it today and see what happens.
Misa, when I first met my husband, I gained 10 pounds because I quit smoking. I'm now down 20. I am going to wait until after the holidays to really jump back on the wagon, and just maintain for now.

Hi all. Everybody seems busy. I'm struggling with my weight. My clothes feel uncomfortable and I've slowed down. Feel really lazy. Am thinking of going back on the fast in January if I can the insurer to pay for it. Rosey: I hope things settle down for you. Thanks for the website tip, I'll check it out.
Wow is it ever cold this morning . . . we had more snow overnight and somehow it isn't nearly as pretty as it was yesterday.
Just dropping by to mention that the FFM was good to me again at my WWI this morning. I got to move my ticker another 1.4 further east. Oh boy, I can almost taste those 230's now.
Well gang, I hear hungry cats and my morning calling to me. Have a great day moving and shaking your way down that long winding road that we are travelling. Together we can do it. See you all really soon.
Had a terrible day yesterday. Horrible mood. Stress induced (I am laying out a 160-pg book for print due on Friday) I am working on the Table of Contents today. See the light at the end of the tunnel.
Going to de-stress today and wait for edits to come back. Try to get more exercise today, that should help.
Meowee, Great results!!!! Congrats on your weight loss!
Rosetta and Rosey, sorry you are both struggling with rough patches. I hate the feel of uncomfortable clothes and feeling like you have no energy. The only way to get out of that is to move! Slow at first...5 minutes...then 10...then 15. soon you will have the energy to go 60 minutes and feel so much better.
Rosey, I would love that kalua recipe!
Holey Smokes Josian! 400! that is incredible! Definitely hope you are doing better.
Jeanne, hope you are feeling better too! Do you play in a dart league? My dad used to be in one years ago. He has passed on now, but I love remembering those fun days.
Where is Misa, Monet and Glen? Hello whereever you are LOL.
Finally! The Bgs are back down again. They stayed in the 300s all day yesterday until I checked it before bed... Got them in the 110s again: it was 126 this morning... Sometimes with Type I you never know what to expect.
With BGs that high, I feel sluggish, tired, and hungry.... All I want to do is eat which compounds the matter.
Well, off to work. I have a meeting tonight with lots of finger food so i'm going to save up my calories for tonight.
Hi good morning,,just a fast drive tho and have to get ready for work,,good to see you Rosey,,and sorry about the stress,,,I can relate with the kids,,have been going tho it for about 6 months now with my oldest son and his wife ( that I love like a daughter ),,so hard,,all we can do is listen and maybe give them some of our life stories if they ask,,hang in there it wil get better I hope,,or you will come to a place for you that it is easier,,
Viki,,you are always so positive I love that about your post,,Yes I play and hubby on a dart league,,have for years,,this year not much of a team but still fun,,,makes the long winter go faster,,,Meowee,,we got snow last night and is cold here also,,,and cloudy,,
Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA. My son, who has been out of work since July, got a job this morning! He is so excited! It is a job he has been wanting for years. He will be traveling all over the country for it, and using photography. Right now he is contract until they are ready to hire permanent employees in January or February. They told him they can keep him really busy all this month though and the pay is really good, so he is very happy. His first trip will probably be to North Carolina, then he may be sent to New York, Chicago and to California. He doesn't mind snow and cold, so good for him! I would be hoping for California if I were him!
The grandbaby is fussing today. His mom thinks he may be teething. Poor thing...I hate to hear him cry.
I have a private art student today, so I need to go prepare for her. I will check in later!
It is damned cold here this morning...but hey we are still above 0°F at a tropical 6°F. I hate taking the dogs out on mornings like this. Brrrrrrrrr!
BG was 92. Looking forward to a sunny day. Still lots of work to do on this book, so I suppose I should get to it. But had to stop by to say hello and have a great day!
I wrote this terrific long post addressing each person and my power went out and I lost the whole thing. Now I gotta go to work and can't rewrite it. Stupid technology.
Anyway, I went back on injections and am so thrilled to have the pump DETACHED from my stomach. I feel like a free woman!
A tip for INSULIN USERS: With the insulin pump, there is a concept called "Insulin on board" and it can be useful in injections too. If you took insulin 1 hour ago and your BGL is 75, you still have "insulin on board" for 3 more hours, so you know that your BGL is dropping. If you took insulin 4 hours ago and your BGL is 75, it's steady because you don't have any insulin on board, so therefore, you don't need to eat to bring it up. Fast acting insulin lasts for 4 hours, peaking at 2 hours. Long-acting insulin does not need to be considered in this concept.
Another tip for SMOKERS - Try Zyban, a prescription pill, to quit. I took it 1.5 yrs ago and have never smoked again. Ask your Dr.!
Ah yes, the "on board" rule. I live by it. I quit smoking 5 years ago with the use of nicotine patches and chewing up many a straw! (Smoked since age 14).
It is funny how we feel completely opposite about the pump vs. shots. I would MUCH rather be attached to the pump and poke myself once every 3 days than poke myself 5 times a day... at least that is how I see it... it can be inconvienient for showering, and um... bedroom activities, but it made my life much easier... Now that I'm on my husband's insurance I'm going to re-qualify to get back on!
I took my last sick day of the year today... The BGs are through the roof again and the tummy is in an uproar... I had some indian food yesterday and I don't think my system liked it... I was actually very good at the meeting... Go figure.
I will be off and on all day (the joys of a laptop and wireless network) while staying in bed... drinking lots of water and taking lots of insulin...Grrr.
