Weight 167.2 lbs FBG 112. No real changes. Weight and FBG bouncing depending on what I eat. So all is normal.

Carol Sue Hope things are going good for you. Hope your not having trouble getting on here again.

Got my call this afternoon. Start chemo next Tuesday morning. I've gone on line to find the best way to eat etc in order for the chemo meds I'll be on works better and hopefully keep from having a lot of side effects. Will consider talking to a dietician at oncology to help me with this. It says it is better to eat 5 or 6 small meals instead of 3. So will be changing my woe. Not sure how this is going to go but hope to do it without too many bad side effects. May not check in too often once this gets started.

Trish, what kind of pork roast do you buy? One time I bought one called Pork Twender Roast and bc it was good. Otherwise I buy Pork Loin or Tenderloin. I prefer Pork Butt but DH doesnt like the dark pork which I love. I also like Country Ribs.
Its a good idea to research your supplements to see if they are okay with your chemo.

I just received a text saying that I have a doctor appointment with PCP. I. have to get my bloodwork done tomorrow. I think it will show that the Mounjaro is not helping me. I take my last shot this weekend. I will tell him I dont want to take it anymore. I saw on the internet that the price for some other GLP1 is going down below $200, but thats still a lot. I think I can lower A1c with out it. Diet, exercise and the meds I take.

Carol Sue We usually get a pirk tenderloin or a butt pork. I love the way they fall apart when it is cooked so tender, We both like them. I'm sorry the Mounjaro isn't working for you especially since it is so expensive.

I've been checking on how to eat while taking the chemo meads I will be on. The big thing I'm going to having to work around is my A1c. My weight was back at 167.2 this morning but FBG was 112 yesterday and 116 this morning. I don't like my A1c going up.

I will meet a nurse I don't know Friday that will explain the treatment to me and hopefully answer all my questions. I'm trying to figure out how to eat small meals every 2 or 3 hrs to help me avoid side effects. I probably need to add some plant protein to my woe.

I hope your lab work won't be bad.

Carol Sue I hope your lab work goes well.

I will be staying with my low carb woe because my FBG is going up. Tues was 112, yesterday was 116 and today 118. That isn't going to work for me. So I will stay lower carb. Will try to keep them around 50 to 70 g. Weight was down to 166 lbs this morning. I have one more set of exercises to do and I will have my exercises done today. Info I read says no heavy exercises around treatment so I will only do the lighter versions for a few days before and after treatment and then us the rest of the month doing the heavier ones. I got us and exercised normally this morning and what they say about cancer patients is true. I perks us up. I don't know if it is a mind thing or really physical, but I felt great immediately after doing some of them. Tai Chi is recommended for balance for cancer patients so I want to find some that I can add to my routine. Feeling optimistic today.

I'm happy to see the scale down another pound to 177. Blood sugar was up a little.
I checked my lab results on my NJ portal and they are good, not great. A1c went down from 10 to 7. That 10 last time was very unusual and may have been an error somehow. im telling him I will not continue Mounjaro. I think I can do this on my own.

Elon Musk took Mounjaro for weight loss. He said he had to stop it because all he did was burp and fart. 🌝

Trish,I pray that all goes well with your continued treatment. Soon we will hear you are cancer free.

I have so many people texting me now i dont know who is who.. There is one who talks likee my original friend. I found out that Kevin Costner was a fake. His management made a post that said he does not post or text so anything you see is an imposter.

Carol Sue I am so glad your A1c was down to 7. 10 does sound strange for you. I had to laugh about Elon's statement. He is such a brilliant man but I can see him having the personality to say whatever. LOL

I have my consultation this morning with a nurse to learn more about my treatment. I went online and watch Dr. Amy Watson who had ovarian cancer and is 8 yrs cancer free. She offers to help you get through with it on how to eat etc and will do it all for free. I may end up getting her help because she says you don't have to experience all the side effects. She tells you things to eat the day before treatment, the day of treatment and 3 to 5 days after. She says you need to bulk up on carbs the day before. Then the day of treatment eat snacks of boiled eggs, trail mix, fruit, crackers etc and then the 3 to 5 days after is 30 g of protein at each of 3 meals and drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated. I will work at doing this so I can keep my FBG down or at least my A1c in a normal range. I've kept my A1c around 5ish through this and would like to keep it there if at all possible. Haven't been able to get it back down to 4 while in treatment. I just don't want to have to take diabetic medicine as that is just brings on other problems. I will still get lab draw once a month so will be easy to watch. It will just be a challenge to balance it for the bs readings. And yes I intend to be cancer free and ring that bell. What man can't do, God can. Besides nothing will work with His help. I think how you eat along with treatment is a big help too.

Dr. Amy says there are 2 foods they say causes cancer alcohol and processed foods. I often wondered how keto/low carb people end up with cancer. Now I wonder if it is all the alcohol and especially processed foods they eat. Even non nitrates foods, she says could be problematic because they don't really know if it is the nitrates or the way they are processed that causes cancer. As she said there is just so much they still don't know about cancer.

When do you see your doctor?

Have good day everybody.

My consultation reviewing treatment etch went very well. The nurse was very pleasant and encouraging and wrote down all my questions that the doctor needs to answer for me. She will email me his answers as I've asked him to tell me which meds and or supplements I may need to stop or maybe take differently so I can work with my treatment. One thing I did learn is that I cannot have grapefruit or anything made with grapefruit as it can stop the treatment from working. She also instructed me to eat 6 small meals a day so I guess I will eat 6 snacks instead of meals from now own. Exercise is okay but listen to my body but don't over do that would make me too tired as fatigue is the big thing with this treatment. The treatment is supposed get rid of the ascites/fluid off my stomach. The great thing is that I have a prescription for nausea that is to be taken the first 3 night after treatment and if it doesn't work they can change it. And the really big plus is I do not have to take steroids that I heard causes weight gain like I did the last time. I told her that I really don't want to gain weight while doing this treatment.

It was a really good appointment.

Trish Im glad things are going so well for starting your treatment. You are in my prayers.

Yesterday the scale said 177.0 but today is up to 178.2.

My appointment is tomorrow at 10AM. Im not looking forward to it because of telling him I cant continue the Mounjaro. I think I could have brought my A1c down on my own. I think the 10 was because of this really good bread we were buying at Walmart bakery and also ice cream. I still eat them but not as much.

I Have to buy pie crust mix and disposable pie pans to make pumpkin pie on Wednesday. I will make 6. Two for us, 2 for step daughter to serve and have leftover, ans 2 for znyone who wants a whole pie. I bought the canned pumpkin and canned milk yesterday. We had to rush out of Walmart yesterday. I felt terrible, but im okay now after sleeping all night.

I would like to make a pumpkin roll for DH also because he likes it so much. I have 2 small turkeys in my freezer and dont know when I will cook one for us. We like to eat leftovers for a couple days.

So many things to do this week. I'm glad im not hosting.

Carol Sue I'm so glad you are staying below 180 and I agree you know how to bring your bs down. I do too, but I'm having to learn how to make this new chemotherapy work without gaining and keep my FBG down.

My weight is still 166 lbs. My FBG seems to stuck within the range of 112 to 118. I found my copy of Dr. Westman's food plan to follow and I've decided to continue using it on some days and may also use some plant protein along with it such as lentils or legumes and I do love quinoa and will choose to get it to eat for the carbs I need to eat the day before infusion day. Otherwise, I will pretty much stay low carb from the day after infusion until the carb bulking up day before infusion. I do need a lot of protein along with this and I get tired of all that meat.

Carol Sue How do you make your pumpkin pie filling. I bought a can and tried just adding sweetener and it was gross. Maybe I could use the other can I have the way you make your pie without the crust.

My niece was supposed to bring smoked turkey meal to us for Thanksgiving, but I don't want her to come around the first few days after my treatment. On top of that her Daddy has been going kyacking since DS passed away and he stepped on mud on the riverbank and fell and broke his leg. We don't like the advise the doc he saw gave him so he will see his primary tomorrow to see what he really should do. They told him it was cracked, but just walk on it and it would be painful but would heal. Sounds crazy to me. He has crutches when he broke his foot on his other leg, so he wearing the immobilizer because it stops the pain and using his crutches to get around until he sees his primary. I don't think they will be going anywhere that day. DH has been buying steak every time he goes to the store so he says we will have steak for Thanksgiving. He may have to do everything that day and not sure what my appetite will be so I'm fine with that. I never got to the store so never got to shop for Thanksgiving. I heard that when you have your infusion, don't eat your favorite foods which makes sense because you don't want to associate an bad experience with your favorite food.

Have a good Sunday.

Popping in to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving week. Not sure what I will feel like after having my first infusion tomorrow although I don't expect anything bad to happen. I've got all my snacks and water ready to take with me in case I need them. I don't expect to need any of it, but prepared just in case. They always have snacks available if needed, but they may have only candy left from the holidays so far. I've got cheese crackers. I plan to go back on low carb maybe almost carnivore the rest of the week.

Carol Sue I hope your doctor's appointment went well.

Have a great day everybody.

My weight was 165.4 this morning was 129 this morning after a carby day yesterday plus the fact I had to get up at 6 am to be at oncology by 8:45 am for 9 am appointment with doctor before 4 hrs of cancer treatment. I wasn't sure I would feel like writing, but I feel so good after treatment that I wanted to sharel

I had 2 anti-nausea meds, One long term 30 minute infusion that is supposed to last 2 weeks, and a short term injection that lasts 3 days and then a 20 minute infusion that should lessen side effects. Then I had 1 hr infusion of carboplatin which I've had before. Sometime around about 23 minutes into new drug I just call Doxol (not sure of spelling but that short name doc uses with me), I started itching. I have itching from time to time and different places than usual. I reported it and they stopped the infusion for a few minutes (they wanted me to sit 5 minutes and then I wanted to go to restroom) so I was off it probably close to 10 minutes. Any way the itching stopped and they started infusion again and I completed it with no problem. Surprising to me, I was hungry for a cheeseburger when we were through and I felt great. Still do. They say any side effects I might have could be in 3 days... Thanksgiving day. I'm not sure I will have any at all.

The only thing that I might experience with the Doxol treatment is a bump in FBG because they have to give it with glucose IV. So I got first 2 hrs meds with regular iv and one with glucose. I actually laughed and told DH that I felt so good that I could be on a sugar high, but not sure. He didn't think so because it was only 5% glucose solution and I didn't get the whole thing. So might be my imagination. But it feels good to feel good regardless. At least I'm not like dishrag like I was the 1st time I did chemotherapy back in 2023.

Carol Sue I know you are busy making all those pies. I told DH that if oncology give me glucose because it makes my doxol med work better, then for Christmas I want one of those packages of frozen cheesecakes that holds only 2 slices. I go back on hydration and at least 90 to 120 g protein tomorrow way up until the day before my next infusion on Dec 23.

Any way, let me know what the doctor said when you saw him yesterday. Did he let you stop the Mounjaro? I hope things went the way you wanted. BTW Did I ever tell you that I live not too far from Space X here in Central TX. It is a couple or 3 little towns from us. When they fire off their spaceship engines, it sounds and sounds like an earthquake. Took a while to get use to it but sometimes we don't notice it until it is almost over.

Have fun making your goodies. I look forward to hear what you are going to make for Christmas goodies. I might check into some of that myself sometime before I go for for 2nd infusion.

Day 2 of this cycle. Only had a headache and hay fever symptoms. Took tylenol and zyrtec. Slept really good.

Weight up 3.2 lbs to 168.4 and FBG 154 after the 1 pt saline and 1 pt glucose solution and chemo treatment. BP was perfect. So doesn't affect bp. That is wonderful to know. Called oncology about the FBG and he talk to primary about solution since I have 6 months of this and can't take any antioxidants and the OTC berberine and blood sugar pills I took for years are antioxidants. Therefore, I asked primary to send me a prescription for a low dose of some diabetic medicine. I want to keep control of my diabetes.

Felt great when I got up, but need a nap now. I did all my exercises I wanted to do. Eating low carb as best as I can. Still don't want to do keto but may have to. Will see. No appetite makes me have to make myself eat a little bit. Tomorrow is the day side effects may or may not hit.

Have a great Thanksgiving Eve.

Sorry Ive been missing. On Thanksgiving weight was down to 174 due to overnight potty issues. Yesterday it was 175, today 176. so creeping up.

Thxe doctor agreed that I could stop Mounjaro. He liked the drop in A1c and advised to keep it down. i will try.
We had a great time at Step daughters on Thursday. All the food was good. The pies burned a little, just the crust.

Trish, look uo Libbys Famous Pumpkin Pie recipe online. that is the recipe I follow. Or if you buy Libbys Pie filling the recipe is on the can. Be careful. Do not buy Pumpkin Pie Filling. It has the Sweetner and Spices in it and its gross. Just get the Pumpkin. When it comes to the sugar I use half white and half brown cuz thats what my mother used. and the spices, I only use half of each one because we dont like it real spicy. I bought Great Value canned Pumpkin. I use refrigerated pie crust.

I pray for you going thruv this treatment, that all goes well.

Today I am cooking our little turkey so we get to eat leftovers for a few days. it is less than 10 lbs. I will stuff it and maake mashed potatoes and cole slaw.

I will be back later.

I have several friends texting me now, all with the same name. I am guessing who is who. One talks like hes the original friend .
