Mad, I am sorry to hear that DH got a concussion and hope he improves and doesn't have any lasting effects. But I am happy to hear your weight is going down! Enjoy the rest of your time there.

I made another flax muffin today. This time I used 1 1/2 pkts of sweetener. I can't remember what sweetener it is. I only use it for tea. That was the right amount of sweetener, not making it actually sweet but cutting the harshness of the flax, and I put a teaspoonful of cocoa in it but probably need 2. I can't believe how much I like them. I can't get DH to even try it. I know it would have to be way sweeter for him.

Hang in there, Trish. Your body is adjusting to your loss and will start dropping weight again.

Carol Sue I used to make the flax muffins when I was doing Atkins. I used them to make home made low carb Egg McMuffins as well as using them for any other thing you can use regular muffins for. I also used it in place of HB buns for my burgers.

I agree about the weight. I figure that I've gotten down to the weight I've had on me for so many years that it is the weight that is going to be tougher to lose.

I got an article from EatingWell online magazine about how Dolly Parton eats to stay so thin. I found it interesting that she eats low carb during the week and eats what she wants on the weekend remembering moderation. I found that interesting as she is so thin. I think they were saying she likes or keeps in mind the 80/20 rule. I remember years ago when DH DM told me she heard Dolly Parton say she never could lose weight until she ate 6 small meals a day and reading the article I wonder if she still has to do that since low carb seems to curb peoples appetite.

Trish, I looked up Dolly Parton's diet and found that article but there was another article that said she's tried every diet there is, even the cabbage soup diet. So even doing low carb now, she probably tried 6 small meals a day at some point, too. Keeping carbs low seems to work for everyone if they can stick to it long term. Dolly carries all her weight in her upper body. LOL

We are going to the casino today so I will make sure I have reading material on my Kindle. Their WIFI goes in and out so I have to have things already downloaded. I guess they don't want you to get online, they want you to spend money.

Carol Sue I'm sure Dolly has been like the rest of us dieters. She has tried everything. Seems to be the dieter's MO. LOL Hope y'all have a good day at the casino and you can get some good reading done. I agree the would rather you be gambling than reading.

This will be more of a flyby since I'm trying to get as much of my house cleaning and moving things around so I can get everyone in the house. I don't want to have to do much of anything Saturday before they get here. I want to be able to enjoy visiting with everybody. I am used to having big parties like this because DH#2's family was huge and then when we did things with my family it was nothing to have 30 people show up, but this all so new for my DH. He just doesn't know how it is going to work.

Weight is down ..4 of a lb but still in 183 range. So probably just fluctuation. I seem to be locked into a routine lately of nothing until 3ish and then a snack between 6 and 7. So hopefully something will have to eventually give.

Got to get busy. Hope everybody has a really great day.

Hi there; managed to stay at 160 so my eating yesterday was fine. Fasting again today. Feeling determined right now.
Chatted with my sister today and she and I are making arrangements to go to Quebec for my Uncle's interment. He died in January at 96 years old, the oldest of my father's siblings. There are just 3 of ten left. SO DS and I will have a road trip together. I don't think we have ever done that before. We have done to overseas trips together and got on ok, and know we can share a hotel room together, so it should be ok. So I want to be comfortable in my clothing and with my body by then and getting below 160 and well down into the 150s would be good. But I also know I have often gotten stalled around 160. See how the day goes. Not planning to eat. I seem to be doing ok doing the alternate day fasting. With no guests coming, I should be alright. We hope to go visit my cousin soon, but we had to do some driving yesterday so that can wait until Sunday or Tuesday.

I think I read that Dolly had done the 6 small meals thing and it helped her to lose weight. Perhaps she has people doing the food prep and service for her. I would have difficulty with being hungry and wanting more. If I like something and am enjoying it, its hard for me to stop. But perhaps one gets used to it. I don't know if she still does that. She is not having weight issues now, by the looks of things the last few times I have seen her on tv live etc. I hope she is doing well, I admire that lady.

Trish I hope you enjoy having your company.
Carol: Let's hope the casino trip is good for both you and DH.
Pipsicle: keep up the good work. Every little bit is a victory.

Check in soon friend

Fatmad Great at staying at 160. You should be able to at least get into the 150s soon. Fasting seems to agree with you so well. It will be nice to be able to spend some time with your DS on the trip to Quebec making a sad trip good.

I would be afraid to try 6 small meals a day because I think they need to be more snack size meals I don't think my meals would ever be that small. Besides my bs does best when I have at least 4 or 5 hrs between a meal.

Today has been good. 2MAD seems to be the norm right now and I will keep it that way as long as I can. I read last night that collagen powder helps curb appetite so I'm thinking this just may be why I don't get very hungry and when I do eat I feel full sooner and longer. I am just thankful for it.

Trish: so glad 2MAD is working for you. Its a great way to go. I agree, it would be hard to keep those "small" meals small enough. And according to Dr. Fung's fasting theory, would affect insulin levels in a negative way over time. For you and I with blood sugar issues, avoiding the high constant levels of insulin by TRE really helps and is important.

I think DS and I are not so sad for this trip, but want to mark this, and see our other aging aunties and uncles. The three that are left are in their 80s, I think one auntie may turn 90 this year. We won't have them for long. They are the glue that keep the family going. I stay in touch with my cousins through FB but might not make the effort to see them after the elders are gone. They seldom come my way. In fact, I think there is only once a couple of them came my way since we were adults. However, right now, seeing these people after a long time of avoiding everyone for COvid19, should be good.

Today should be an eating day, planning an omelette for brunch, and sausages on the grill for supper. Its supposed to be sunny and warmer again. yay. At least we don't have the heatwave the west has.

Today DH had to get up early to drive step daughter to work. I went along so we could go to Wal-Mart. DH also had to go for breakfast. He also wanted Goodwill but they were closed.

DH eats every 2 hours. He never eats a big meal, not compared to how most men eat. There is always food left on his plate. A woman on LC ate 6 times a day. But her meals were snacks. She did not cook and 2 meals were protein shakes. She ate no carbs The weight fell off her. I think when its low carb and small portions there isn't much of an insulin response.

I'm not on plan. I'm just coasting.

Fatmad I can understand about wanting to see the aunts and uncles you still have. I have to say it feels really strange to have none of mine left. Just siblings and cousins. We aren't too sure how many cousins we have left and I keep up with those who are on FB as well. Cousins who were born to Mama's 4 older brothers are all gone as far as we know. There is one girl who was closer to DBS age that we lost track of once Mama died and she may still be living but no one knows what her last name is.

I got a message on FB that one of Mama's twin sisters daughter is coming this way sometime at the end of the month. She hasn't met our cousin who does all the genealogy of our Mama's family. So we are going to get us all together so the family who hasn't met her can. We may find a restaurant to do that though so we can relax and just visit with each other. I think I am the oldest of those of us who are left so it seems to fall to me. We do have 2 older cousins who are Mama's oldest sister's boys, but I don't have any idea if they are still living. They were a lot older than me. The other twins' kids were not healthy and not sure any of them are still living.

Carol Sue I can't really say I am 100% on a plan but I hope the 2MAD is sufficient at this time. I may just keep doing this for a while and see what happens. I would like to slide into more of SBK woe eventually. Not sure I want to track but may go back to tracking although I still want to have the attitude of IE along with IF. How long did they say it would take to know if your DSD got the house or not?

Of all nights not to be able to sleep, I wasn't able to go to sleep until sometime after 4 am this morning and I had to get up at 7:30 to get ready to go to beauty shop. I really don't want to take a nap because I want to be able to sleep tonight so I can get up kind of early in the morning to finish things up before I have to start cooking for my part of tomorrows meal.

Staying home the past 2 Fridays because of beautician having eye surgery, I really got off schedule. She looks good and I would love to have surgery on my eye lids where they have begun to sag. She says if it bothers my eye sight that Medicare will pay for it and mine wouldn't be a little easier than hers because they cut and stretched the skin on her forehead but mine would just be an in office procedure and is easier to do than pulling up the skin, but I won't even think of it unless it ever begins to interfere with my vision. However, I have to say she looks good. Personally I wish I could do something about my turkey neck. LOL

Waiting for my perm to process, I was watching people walking in and out of Target and suddenly I realized that it being practically next door (same parking lot) and I that when I left the beauty shop that I could go there and pick up a few things I forgot to get the other day and I had planned to do that, but the parking lot was full so I decided not to fight the crowd. I think now that everything is opening up for the first time in over a year (even Target is not requiring masks) that people are going to be really gathering for the 4th of July to celebrate from the look of the store parking lots. From now on I will remember that I can go Target and not have to go to the local store unless I am buying meat. In SC Target used to have a really good cosmetic department which means I could shop there on Friday without having to wait until DH and I make a trip to Walmart for meds once a month.

Hope everybody has a nice day.

It seems the server was down this morning and although I wrote a long post I was unable to submit.

I posted a lot about family. Basically I have no aunts or uncles and the older cousins have passed. My mother was not close with her family and therefore neither was I. My father was old so his parents were gone before I was born. DH keeps in touch with his 4 brothers, but none of them keep in touch with each other. DH is the hub holding the family together now that his parents are gone. We never go to their houses and they only come here on holidays, but not since Covid. Maybe this year.

I have not weighed since June 30. Today I decided to start over and lo and behold I am down to 188. That's a miracle with the way I've been eating. No fasting, no control. No tracking so maybe I'm not eating as much as I thought. Or maybe its the fiber in the flax muffins. I will continue daily.

I thought my recliner broke yesterday. The foot rest would not stay closed, so I couldn't get up. DH held it closed so I could get up then checked it. A spring had come off but didn't break so he was able to put it back on. I don't know why it came off but I'm glad I have my chair until I can buy new. I want to buy online but know we have to try them out. I hate shopping with high pressure sales associates.

Trish, today is your get together so I hope all goes well.

Mad, I hope you have a good trip with your sister.

Carol Sue Glad DH could fix your recliner. Ours are electric and it is bad when I'm sitting in my chair and the electricity goes off and can't put it down to get up.

DBS and DBIL will be here in a couple of hours to get started with the burgers and hot dogs. I've got my baked beans in the crockpot. I need to slice and chop some onions and the lettuce. I think DH is going to slice the tomatoes. Some people can't come because their in-laws are having gatherings and some are working so it is iffy if they can make it. So it looks like we will probably end up with about 26 people instead of 40. Not as many kids which might be good since weather is iffy. One weather report says 80% chance and another says 70%. Radio shows a lot coming this way and I just hope it will rain and then get out of here. Any way, looking forward to seeing those who can make it.

Weight up 2 lbs today. Not sure what that is about. DBS and I talked last night and she wants to eat one burger and one chili dog on SLMG bread so it will be easy to go kind of careful with sticking close to OP with us both doing more of a low carbish. I figure we will be more moderate carb today. I plan to get right back OP SBK starting tomorrow.

Well guess my break is over. I need to get some things done. I'm actually caught up and actually ahead on all I wanted to do before any one got her so I'm good.

Hope everybody has a nice 4th weekend whenever and however you celebrate it. Stay safe. Looks like a lot of people I know are celebrating today and I think that is because so many people go to church on Sunday.

Trish, I hope all goes well for you.

I want my next chairs to be electric because I want a lift chair. I think you can use them as lift chairs only when you need them. I just don't want to have to buy new again if I need a lift chair. I never thought about being stuck in the chair if the power goes out.

Well, the party went very well. We probably ended up with between 15 to 20 people because a lot of them didn't make it. However, we had a lot of fun with those who came. We ended up way more left overs but I sent it home with DBS & DBIL because of their kids. I'm going back on LC maybe SBK tomorrow. DBS remembered to eat her hot dog on SLMG bread and just ate HB without bread. I forgot and had a HB on a bun but I did remember to have the hot dog on SLMG. We both over did the chips. DS made potato salad but made it with Ranch dressing instead of mustard. It was very good but I didn't keep any of it because DH won't eat potatoes and I can't have it on LC or keto.

My siblings and I are worn out. The kids were going to see fireworks and the rest of us are home crashing. LOL One of my nieces thanked me for holding the family together. It was fun but can't do it as often as I used to.

Hope everybody has had a great day.

Trish, I'm so glad your party went well and everyone had a good time. We are only cooking hot dogs here and I will have mine with a full carb bun. I have never had potato salad with either mustard or ranch dressing. DH likes it with just mayonnaise and doesn't like me to change it so I don't try anything different. I might eat some but not very much. We like it when its first made at room temperature rather than after its been refrigerated. I don't know if I will make baked beans or not. It depends on if DH wants them.

There will be fireworks tonight that we can watch from our porch. Last night DH sat outside and watched the ones the neighbors set off. I hope the rain holds off.

I'm hoping to eat brunch today rather than breakfast and then our cook-in around 4. I want to go back to 2 MAD in 5-6 hours so I can start losing again.

We went to Applebees yesterday and I am getting used to them not serving rolls or bread. I really don't need them. So I had a nice low carb dinner, chicken with broccoli and a salad. They put a lot of spinach and other greens in their salad so I eat it all! Yum! My body says Thank You!

____________________________

I went back to bed and got 2.5 more hours of sleep. DH didn't get up yet. The scale still says 188 so I held the loss. Incentive to go lower.

DH went to get Egg McMuffins so I had that around 10:45. Now I will try not to eat more until we eat our hot dogs. DH will probably want to eat early. Either way, it will be my last meal of the day.

I have a load of laundry in the washer. I'm still learning how to use it and what setting to use. As long as the clothes come out clean that's all that matters. The dryer is pretty basic and works great.

I typed a long message and lost it and I am too tired to write it again. I took meds last night for pain in leg and back and then had to take 1/2 OTC sleeping pill and we know how that leaves me so groggy the next day. So today will be a recovery day from the long day yesterday. I enjoyed it though. One way DH is much like my Daddy is that by the time my niece and nephews said bye a dozen times and hugged about 3 times before they left, DH had most of the clean up done and things put back in place. The kids laughed about how we had hugged each other so many times saying bye and kept talking. I told them DH always thought that was funny how my family does that. He says it takes us forever to tell each other good bye. Unless DBS and her Hubby to do something Labor Day, we probably won't do anything again until Thanksgiving. I think we have all decided when our cousins come to town later this month that we will go to Golden Corral so everyone can get what they won't to eat and there is an area where we can put tables together so we can visit without bothering anyone. One cousin who does our grandmother's genealogy will have a lot to share with everyone.

Carol Sue Your salad at Applebee's sounds good. I will have to check out their online menu and see if we would like eating there for a change. It would be nice to have another choice when my sisters and their hubbies and DH and I go out to eat.

Sounds like you have actually made it to the 180s. I am happy for you. I want to get back to my 2MAD between 5 to 6 hrs too and I want to do it as a combination of SBK/IF/IE and not sure I will even track. I asked DBS how she counts her carbs. She doesn't subtract fiber or anything. She just goes by the carb listed itself. I forgot to ask her how many carbs she eat each day. I think she just chooses to eat whatever is lowest carbs. I noticed yesterday that when she got hungry she walked around eating a beef patty instead of eating it with as a burger. Thinking back that may have offset the carbs in the chips she was snacking on. It obviously works for her. I don't know what size she wears now, but even the small dress she had on just hangs on her.

I had to take Lasix last night because of all the sodium in the chips and I also had issues yesterday but not diarrhea thank God so with that and the fluid pill, my weight was back down to 183.8. So I'm thankful for that. I think we will have eggs for lunch today because I don't want to gain any of that weight I lost since that loss was mostly because of the fluid pill. Main thing is I'm back OP and hoping to get down to 170s soon.

Well, I'm going to go take a nap. I hope everybody has a nice 4th and enjoys the fireworks. We didn't have many around here last night but could have them tonight.
