Trish, I wonder why the center changed DS meds? I don't like the idea of them doing that. Some depression meds cause weight gain so maybe that's why they did that but I don't think they should. I hope you are able to lose several as she is.
I had a nice visit with DiL. They are spending Thanksgiving with her parents. She doesnt realize that that makes me happy! I don't want everyone coming here but I do it because I feel that I have to. My house is really too small for that many people. My table seats 6 and my living room seats 5. I can fit extra chairs but it is not comfortable. Her parents will be leaving for AZ in December and won't be back until spring. I don't know how long they will continue to do this. FBG 123 Wt 189. Candy is gone. I want to try the double fiber bread to see if the extra fiber is beneficial to me. Net carbs are low, but I am more interested in the fiber right now. I only eat it at breakfast. But if it is going to be hard to find I still have 3 breads to choose from, the SL, the Aldi's 45 cal, and the Nickles 35 cal. I like them all so I have no preference. |
Mad Glad the scale is being nice to you today. DH and I got our flue shots as soon as Walmart got them in so we are good till next year.
Carol Sue Glad you had a good visit with DIL and won't have to cook for a bunch on Thanksgiving this year. I hope DGS will be going to his Daddy's again this year. I think that is when he see him and his other GM. DS is going to her DD in San Jacinto and DH and I don't plan to go anywhere. We will stay home and watch football. That will be my 3rd week on my shots and I really don't plan on eating a lot of goodies for Thanksgiving. I figure I will cook some chicken tenders and cornbread stuffing and whatever else DH wants to go with it. Not sure if I will even have any dessert or not. We usually like cheesecake but don't know if I will even do that or not. Christmas will be more challenging for sweets because I really like Christmas candy but am planning not to have any if I can keep from it. DS DD and her husband are planning a trip to Paris for Christmas so DS already said she and DH will spend Christmas with DH and me. As for DS medicine, they didn't take her off of any medicine, but they had added one. Her primary didn't want her on both and thought he could take her off of the original and her take just what the clinic gave her as he would have liked her to get off the old one. However, she had such a difficult time coming off of it that he took her off the new and put her back on the old. Her doctor sent her to the clinic so he is working with them. I slept 8 hrs last night after dozing in my chair off and on yesterday. I've cut back some of my supplements and may do away with some altogether as I run out. I cut my Vitamin C back but cut it back too far according to how it affected BM. So today I added 2 back but I think that is too much so will cut back 1 tomorrow hoping that it will work at giving me just normal movements. FBG was 131. I think it must be from eating nuts for a snack. I only ate enough to satisfy hunger. However, I did drink some Chrystal Lite and wondered if it was the sweetener in it. Weight was down a fraction more to 213.2. I am so very thrilled with that. If the shots helps you lose faster, maybe I can lose 2 lbs a week. That would really be nice. Planning shrimp scampi today over noodles. I think I will cook it in the lemon butter sauce and then drain it so that I just have the flavor of the lemon butter and put mine over a small helping of noodles. I will probably have a salad for the side. That is what I did yesterday with the chicken nuggets cooked with whole wheat flour. I fried them and then drained and pat dry the nuggets to get all the fat off them and then had a salad on the side. I don't eat sauce with my nuggets. I'm kind of falling back on how I cooked when I did low fat dieting when DH#2 was diagnosed with CHF. I hope everybody has a nice day. |
Trish, I am as excited as you are about these shots. I am looking forward to how they are going to work and hoping you get good results.
We went to the casino today because the weather is supposed to be bad tomorrow. We did not do well, and DH SAYS we are going to skip next week like we did last week. We'll see. LOL Our bedroom TV broke. It used to be our living room TV but we got a new one for the living room. Now DH is going to take the one from my exercise room and put it in the bedroom, and we will get a new one for the exercise room. Walmart has really dropped their prices. We watch a lot of TV in the bedroom. Both of us put the TV on when we go in just to lie down and we always have it on until we fall asleep. I like to use the one in my exercise room to watch my soaps while I exercise or sometimes I use an exercise DVD. |
DH decided he didn't want the TV from my exercise room, he wanted a new one for the bedroom and wanted a 32 inch. The one that broke was a 48 inch, way too big, but I thought 32 was going to look minute by comparison. After seeing the 32 in the store he decided he wanted a 40, but ended up buying a 43. I sure hope he's happy with it. If he doesn't like something he can get very annoying. Now we have to find a way to get rid of this old one that broke. The trash man won't take them.
So we spent the day running around in the rain. We went for breakfast. :( You know I hate that. I picked up a book from the library, checked Target for the TV first, then to Walmart. It is supposed to changeover to snow. I wanted to make hot sausage for dinner but by the time we got home it was too late. I am NOT going out again so he will have to think of something fast for me to make. Hope everyone is having a good day. |
FBG 126 and weight 213.4. Looks like weight is bouncing which used to be a good thing so will see. I just don't want to gain anything before I go to the clinic Tuesday. I will weigh a lot more because it is going to be very cold Tuesday and I will have to wear heavier clothes and shoes. Doesn't matter weight loss is weight loss when it starts coming off.
I guess the 131 FBG the day before must have been caused from the Crystal Light cause I had a few nuts with mandarin oranges last night. We didn't have the shrimp scampi because DH didn't want it. So we had chipped beef. He had the left over KFC coleslaw and I had a finger salad with mine. Then later that evening I had a shrimp veggie stir-fry with a bit of cocktail sauce in it. I need to start having low carb evening meals or snacks rather than just grabbing something. Breakfast this morning was 2 eggs, chopped ham I bought a few weeks ago with some mozzarella cheese for flavor. So today is going to be more of a low carb day. Carol Sue Sorry the casino trip wasn't more productive. Will the weather play more of a roll into when you will be traveling to the casino during the winter weather or do y'all put snow tires or chains on your car and go on? I wonder how your DH will handle those things after having that fall last year? I'm glad y'all found a tv for your bedroom so you can keep your tv in the exercise room. Y'all stay safe in the weather you are having. Mad and Pipsicle I hope all is well with y'all today. Everybody have a great day. |
Trish don't worry about your starting weight at the center. You will have similar clothes on every time you go. I always weigh more at the doctors because of clothes. I wear slip on shoes so I can take them off. And I wear a lightweight pair of slacks and light shirt, even in winter. LOL
Over the winter we fit the casino in according to the weather forecast. We go on days when there is no snow or rain expected. Our car goes ok in snow but we don't take chances. We only go out for necessities. Our other vehicle is all wheel drive but still only go out when necessary. Someone else could always slide into you. |
Our gas is out and it's going down to 28 tonight. It was on when we cooked dinner but DH just tried to cook something and there's no gas. He checked the furnace and the pilot light is out. He called the gas company and they are sending someone out. But when? He just saw a neighbor and is asking him if they have gas. Or is it just us? The neighbor has had so it's just us.
|
Oh my goodness Carol Sue. I sure hope they got someone out to get your gas working before it gets so cold tonight. We are going to be 48 tonight ourselves and our high tomorrow will be 55. We are slowly going into colder weather.
|
They came and checked it out and found we needed a new meter and put it on. I'm so glad he tried to cook or we wouldn't have known until it got cold during the night. So now we wait to see what is going to break next.

FBG 125 and weight down to 212.4. So glad to see that happening. I am beginning to think the shots will work even for me since the pills have finally started working. I've had 2 bottles which is a month so that makes sense according to what I read on the reviews on Amazon.
Carol Sue I am so glad you have gas and I too am thankful that your DH tried to cook and found it before it got cold. Your blessed it happened before the weekend. It looks like everybody is having cold across the country. Headed out to the beauty shop and the grocery store. Funny how we don't need much since DH and I are eating so much less me to lose weight and him to keep his BS down. His is running between 130 and 150s so much better than it was before and that is without the G. He just takes the Metformin, Farxiga and Berberine. Have a great day everybody. |
Well, we took the new TV back and exchange it, now DH wants to take this one back. There is so much involved in getting these TVs set up. We want an old people's TV that you bring home, plug in, and watch. Is that too much to ask?
Glad you are doing so well, Trish. You are just jogging along toward Onederland!!!:woohoo: |
Why can't I get back on track????? I getting sick of this!
l just want to mention for newbie and lurkers that a good place to start when you are first diagnosed is BloodSugar101.com. Lots of information there and it's also good for someone who has had diabetes for a while but is struggling. No matter how you look at it, diet is the key to control.. |
Hi all: just busy the last little while. I ate the last two days, and got a little out of control yesterday. Also was constipated, so didn't weigh this morning. I am fasting today so will weigh tomorrow. I am no longer stopped up, so feeling better. Happily did not have to "do" anything to make it happen.
DH and I will go to market later this morning to get food to cook for the rest of the week, then stop at the grocery to get anything still needed. I went to the Niagara area yesterday to visit my elderly Auntie in rehab hospital. She broke her hip a month ago and is in a rehab facility to regain her mobility. She is my mother's sister and my godmother and we have always been close. She has always been thin and I have seen her losing some weight and muscle over the years, although she has always been active. Looks like she has put on a few pounds and they are working her hard so she is doing well. She is in relatively good spirits. The hard part is her daughter, my cousin was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September or late August. This cousin is just 6 months older than me. I may have mentioned this before. So I had a great visit with Auntie and then my Uncle arrived and I enjoyed a visit with him as well. Since my cousin in the #1 help for her parents, I have reassured her I will be happy to take on a helping role for the rest of their time on earth. She also has a brother who is somewhat helpful, but he is often out of the country for work, so can't always help. I think the Grandkids will also be helpful so we will all do our best. I think I would also find it hard and I would worry if I was dying, about my parents if was still here. So we all just want to reassure her as much as possible that we will be there for them. My uncle had a weight problem until he was in his 60s, and his heart had problems, He lost a large amount of weight with South Beach, and has kept it off for over 20 years. He has been very support of my weight loss journey and with all the things with my parents' illnesses and deaths. I feel lucky to have a positive family environment unlike my husband's family. Hope everyone is doing well. |
Mad, I am glad you have the family connections you have. I am not close with the few family members I have left. Some are not interested in being close a relationship with me and some I am not interested in. They are cousins, neices, nephews. .DH stays in touch only with his brothers, no cousins. Neither of us have living aunts or uncles. DH is second oldest of 5 boys, all still living but lots of health problems so it's a toss up who will go first. Mostly heart disease, no cancer. Older brother has liver disease from heavy drinking.

FBG 123 and weight was 213. I will do my best not to weigh every day when I start going to bariatric solutions. Going to see Daddy today because we need to be here for some deliveries tomorrow. We ordered some area rugs for the entry hall and although they are the same style but different sizes and shapes seems to be coming from different places. We ordered them from Amazon. We are thinking about ordering more of the same for the kitchen. The floor tile gets so cold during cold weather so it will be nice to have them. They will be coming starting tomorrow through the 20th of the month. I don't want them to be sitting on the front porch and us not here to get them inside.
Carol Sue I'm sorry you are having difficulty getting back on track. I agree that diet is the key to control. I goofed yesterday because I found something I thought would be acceptable because I looked at the carb count, but got home and told DH about it and he said "how much sugar is in it"? I was shocked that it had 10 grams of sugar in a serving. They will go in the trash or I'll save them for DGGS to eat when he is here. Probably safer to throw them out. Just can have some temptations around. Mad So glad you had a good visit with your aunt/godmother. So sorry your cousin and family are going through this ordeal of cancer. I know how that feels having gone through it with my Mama. It is nice that in the midst of it that all of you can give your cousin peace of mind as she faces leaving her living parents. Prayers for you and family coming y'alls way. Hope everyone has a good day. |
