Carol Sue I was surprised about the thyroid being okay after taking that test. They were also selling something so maybe it is rigged. I actually am surprised but glad that it was okay. When I found the article that gave the symptoms that shows your aren't eating a significant amount fat kind of explained what the problem was. You know me. I go all the way on anything I try and when they said low fat, I decided to use low fat, but some things you could either get with fat or fat free so I was cutting a lot of fat out. I now believe that is wrong. I have put the fat back into my eating plan. I don't eat a lot but since MFP has a way to track fat, protein and carbs, and I was finally able to set the grams that I want each day, I have it set up so that I up to the fit as close to what they told me to eat as well as what I have read about the fat.

My calories are set between 1100 - 1500 so I am tracking 1500 as a high, protein set at 25% which is 94g and they said 80g, fat is 40% and the rest which is 35% is carbs. However, while the carbs do include some starches those starches are to be grains and then most of it is to be veggies, I'm sure. Or at least they are for me. Of course, on MFP you have to set the grams close to what you want because the percentages are rounded off to 5's and 10's.

Took my first Wellbutrin (generic) when we got home yesterday before dinner. I'm not to taking meds like that and don't know if it was the pill or the fact that I had done nothing but go all day but I slept like a baby and didn't want to get up this morning. I didn't take Tylenol but did take the Tart Cherry at bedtime, but if this was from the Wellbutrin, I won't need anything to sleep at night.

Mad I have worked so hard to eat healthy etc through the years and I have to say that while I was surprised at the thyroid results, but I was more shocked at my overall test results, I am happy to know that taking the supplements to fit what I feel I needed over the years, especially when I had no insurance and doctored myself has paid off and I am pretty healthy for my age. I think that comes from living with my aunt for years who was into health food and eating properly. She lived to be 90. All my lab numbers were in the normal range and even the blood sugar was only up 1 point. The thyroid was on the lowest end of the normal range and always has been and hopefully as I continue to eat right even that will improve. I consider myself blessed. However, I see and know some things that I feel at this age that needs to improve and hopefully I can correct that with weight loss and exercise. I'm taking Wellbutrin for weight loss, but DH thinks it might help me with all the stress I've been under since moving her and what we have gone through with Daddy.
Have fun with the little ones. I know you love that.

Lazy day today except some exercising. Looks like we aren't getting the rain they said we were going to get. They have moved it to Thanksgiving Day. I did all my shopping so I wouldn't have to go tomorrow when I leave the beauty shop. However, I thought of something I wish I had bought so might run in and grab it before I come home tomorrow.

Oh weight was the same 210.8 which isn't a bad thing. If things work like they have in the past, that just means a whoosh is in the future if I behave myself. FBG 113. YAY!!! There are some real improvements going on. So all is good.

Y'all have a great day today.

I am happy to say that I have had 2 successful IF days behind me now. DH and DS says the Bupropion won't work for 2 weeks, but I'm wondering if that is if I was taking it for depression because I've had no problem with hunger especially tonight. I had a 6 or 7 hr eating window yesterday and by the time I did have some hunger, but it was past 7 pm and I didn't want to eat so I didn't. Tonight I've had no hunger at all. It has been a good day.

fatmad 11-22-2019 08:05 AM

Trish: I find if I don't take my wellbutrin early in the day, I have trouble sleeping. But yes, it does work quickly for cravings, which is why it is so helpful for smoking cessation.
So its working for you. If a bit of that is placebo effect, that's not harmful. Glad you slept so well too!

I'm 152 this morning, after doing a good job with eating yesterday, sticking to LCHF. Not sure how it will go tonight, we were planning burritos because they are easy to eat for our little tailgate picnic. So I expect tomorrow will be different if I step on the scale. I will fast tomorrow and perhaps will skip the weigh -in.

Have a good day everyone

pattygirl63 11-22-2019 10:51 AM

My weight is hung up around 210.8 to 211 today, but I think my body is making some adjustments because my FBG was 107 this morning. So that is great. I am keeping my calories around 1200 or less and plan to continue to do that. I also plan to limit the starchy carbs and not eat as many as they say to eat although I do need to eat more veggies.

Mad I always appreciate your incite. I'm glad your weight is moving down again. Fingers crossed the burritos don't mess it up too much. I think IF helps you loads and hope to use it to work for me as well.

Speaking of them (dietitian with bariatrics), I've decided I am not going to take copies of my MFP tracking because I don't really understand why I can't get on their apps and no one seems to know how to help get on it. I seem to get the run around. I would rather they just say "I don't know why or how to fix it" but they just pass me to someone else. I realize things were kind of crazy when I went to get my shot last time, but I wasn't happy with the fact that I have to keep up with my weight loss which is fine but they didn't tell me that. I am hoping that my doctor will take over giving me the Wellbutrin mainly because I was told that I will have to see the NP every month to get the prescription refilled and it costs me $50 to see her to get it and of course my shot is always $15. I told DH that I'm not going to pay $50 to get the prescription for a $9 medicine. So if primary won't refill it for me next month, I won't take it. Plus the NP won't be there so I won't be able to get it any way. So other than the shots, I am pretty much on my own. So am going to adjust this plan to more of a LCMF diet plan since I don't like doing lowfat. Plus I'm able to continue IF along with this way of eating too.

I am very excited that Dr. Fung Obesity Code Cookbook is coming out and I got word from Amazon yesterday that mine will be delivered November 29th. I am thrilled to get it before Christmas cooking since DS, Baby sister and their hubbies will be here for Christmas dinner this year.

Well, some how beautician got DS and my appointment screwed up and I go at 11:30 instead of 11 so I want to take the time to do the bike for 20 minutes and eat breakfast so I need to get busy.

Carol Sue I hope all is well with you today.

Y'all have a great day.

Wannabehealthy 11-22-2019 11:51 AM

I am fine. My day is screwed up because I didn't get up until 10. So much to do! Yesterday we went to the casino. DH said it is the last time. :D. Are you seeing the pattern, here? But this time we spent all our free play and also our points. We rarely spend our points. He says we will go to the PA casino once or twice a month. I repeated "once or twice a month" and he said yes. So we will see. They were giving away turkeys but the line was so long we weren't going to stand in it. Turkeys are so cheap. But when we were leaving the line was shorter so we got 2 turkeys. I usually cook 2. My step daughter is getting one from work and giving me that one too so I will save one for Christmas.

Trish, I hope your doctor will prescribe the Wellbutrin. I guess you are not getting side effects. That's good. I am surprised they are not being more helpful to you for getting on their website. That's not right after all the money they charge. If the doctor writes the rx then you only have to.pay for the shots.

Mad I could go for a burrito right now! DH will not eat them. Sometimes I buy individual frozen ones at Walmart to sooth my cravings. I'm sure yours were better!

pattygirl63 11-22-2019 02:26 PM

Carol Sue I'm glad you are okay. I could have slept another hour if I had know about the mess up with DS and my appointment. It turned out that when she switched us from the old time to the new that this day got skipped when she entered the new time for the rest of the year. No big deal. She decided to work next Friday after al since her DH is working, but I had already decided that I don't want to do anything next week except go see Daddy so still plan to skip next week. I told her that way she could still take off early if she wants too.

Yes, I hear "one or two" trips to the other casino. LOL Bless his heart, he just can't help it. I guess everybody has to have some vice and this is his. It is nice you got 2 turkeys though because you will use those. I thought about buying a turkey but decided not to because DH didn't want it. I would have loved to have had a smoked turkey but they think they are gold so I wouldn't buy one.

I haven't got a response from my doctor yet on the rx, but he takes Friday's off a lot and may not even be there. It would be worth having to go see him one time to get it him to do it than to have to pay $50 extra every month to the NP. I wouldn't mind spending the $50 every 3 or 6 months, but every month is crazy.

There was a young woman at the beauty shop who told me you can get B12 shots all over town. She gets them for her skin. However, she said that the cheapest she has heard that you can get is $20 a shot so $15 for what I get is pretty good. She said she also went somewhere and got a glutathione shot for $150 that kind of cleanses your system. I didn't know all these things went on. She is thin so I assume she does these for her skin to stay young looking and clear.

I've been having a backache lately so I took ibupropin last night for the pain, but no Tart Cherry Extract. I slept pretty good, but I woke up very early and since I thought my appointment was earlier got up and got dressed. Now I'm kind of sleepy so think I 'll sit back here and relax till time to cook our late lunch.

Edited: To say, I heard from Primary doctor and he said he would give me refills on Wellbutrin next month. All I have to do is call his nurse or have the pharmacy call him for the refill.

Wannabehealthy 11-22-2019 07:04 PM

Yay on getting the Wellbutrin refills!

DH's brother wants another turkey so I am going to give him one of mine. If I still want one for Christmas I will buy one next weekend after Thanksgiving. They should still be on sale. The price will go up around Christmas.

fatmad 11-23-2019 08:24 AM

Well, last night went off well. We had our little "tailgate" picnic of enchiladas. (I am sorry, I get the names of different Mexican foods confused) which were wonderful and delicious. This restaurant is run by a man whose daughter has coeliac so all the food is gluten free, and also delicious. And the family we were hosting love the food there too, so we were all happy. The kids had dance class before hand, and then their Mum put them into pyjamas for the Polar Express train. Many if not most of the kids were in PJs so that was fun. Before the train started the show started in the "museum" shed at the station, with some of the early scenes from the movie being acted out. We all got "golden tickets" and boarded the train. They of course serve hot chocolate, just like the movie, and the characters from the movie move through the train cars acting out scenes. When we got to the part about the caribou crossing we looked out the windows and could see a set up of reindeer all lit up. A little later we "arrived" at the North Pole and could wave at and see Santa, with elves dancing around. Then the train stopped and Santa boarded and he and the elves passed out the silver bells. The little girls were enchanted. Especially the youngest. It was a rather expensive treat, but the reactions made it worth it and better than buying yet another toy for kids who have lots.
DH and I had a ball. Sorry if I am going on too long. I don't have grandkids and these little girls (the littles) are my substitutes and I just love having them in my life.
With the carbs from supper of course, comes the weight. Back to 154 this am, I will fast today, and stick to plan the rest of the week. I am not worried, this is a temporary blip from the treats. I don't have any social plans in the coming week that involve food. So I should be good for some extended fasts and get on track again.

I noticed a note from Maryjane, and hope you feel welcome to chime in anytime.

Its the weekend, but we have lots of meat in the freezer and don't need anything from the farmer's market today, so no shopping trips for now.
Happy Saturday friends

Wannabehealthy 11-23-2019 11:18 AM

Mad, I think it's great that you get to enjoy time with the littles, especially considering the part you played in them being here. I did not have children, but got to enjoy DGS when he was little. He is now in the preteen years, just about the age his Dad was when our lives began to intertwine.

I have never had enchiladas but I've seen them made on tv and would probably like them. Unfortunately, I will.probably never know.

I couldn't sleep so got a up at 5:30 and had a cup of coffee and read for a while. Then I got sleepy and went back to sleep until 10 again. I'm very surprised that I fell back to sleep after coffee. I guess my body was really tired.

Today I am going to clean out the refrigerator to get it ready for Thanksgiving food. I probably have enough leftovers in there for a meal, but they will get tossed. Wings, pizza, not sausage, pork and sesuerkraut. The wings are from yesterday but I won't eat them because DH will be wanting new food today. I can't eat everything!

pattygirl63 11-23-2019 11:43 AM

Mad It is so nice that you are able to find so many restaurants you have found that make gluten free foods so you can go out and eat and visit with friends, etc. The Polar Express outing sounds wonderful and getting to experience it with the littles that you played a part of bring into the world I'm sure made it even more exciting. DH and I have a set of movies we watch every year from Thanksgiving until after Christmas and the Polar Express is one of those at the top of the list. It seems to bring the child out of both of us. I'm glad y'all had such a good time and those lbs will be back off soon.

Carol Sue I noticed yesterday that I need to clean out my fridge too. However, I probably won't do it until tomorrow. We are going to meet DS out at the nursing home today so she can give me Daddy's billfold in case I need it while she and BIL are out of town this week. They leave Monday morning and will be back sometime next Saturday afternoon. I need to clean mine out and I also need to use the 1/2 &1/2 I have in there to make a fresh batch of yogurt. I will have to cook this one to make it because they have been open and are left overs from the 2 batches I made without cooing. So I plan to do that tomorrow and clean out. DH puts the trash out tomorrow for pick up on Monday so anything I can't put down the garbage disposal can go out to the trash tomorrow.

My weight is back down to 209 even this morning. FBG was 118. If I keep it and don't lose another lb this month, I've lost 5.6 lbs so far this month with another week to go. Since we aren't doing anything big for Thanksgiving and DH doesn't want any desserts, I might can lose a little more by December 1.

I am excited about taking the Wellbutrin because I am finding that I don't get hungry and since I'm not going to be keeping my food tracking to turn in to the people at bariatrics, I have decided to take advantage of the Wellbutrin. I did so well with 2MAD but had a problem with hunger. Now that I am on the Wellbutrin, I decided to go back to eating 2MAD starting today. I've never been brave enough to not eat before going somewhere especially out to see Daddy but I am going for a 20 hr fast today. If I make it today, I will try it again tomorrow. Just going to take it 1 day at a time and see how I do.

Pipsicle Looking forward to hearing how your Disneyland trip went as well as the whole week.

Maryjane I hope you always feel free to join us here.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Wannabehealthy 11-23-2019 01:19 PM

Trish, I always used to be afraid to go anywhere without eating too, but not anymore. No matter where you go, food is always available somewhere. You won't starve. Its much better to have that fasting period.

Yay for 209!

fatmad 11-24-2019 07:19 AM

back to 153 this morning. Its an eating day, but I will plan to stay on LCHF track. Yesterday was busy except I did not get out for a walk, so that's on today's agenda.
I look forward to hearing about everyone's Thanksgiving plans as the date gets closer. Cleaning out your fridges is just the first step in that.
I know turkey is the tradition, but are there other mains that people make?
Have a lovel Sunday

Wannabehealthy 11-24-2019 08:31 AM

I got up at 8 this morning, so back to my normal. I don't like sleeping until 10 but feel better if my body needs it.

I haven't had anything but Turkey for Thanksgiving and that's what most have but there was a woman at work whose family was pescatarian and they had fish and shrimp. She ate meat when she was out but never at home. There are some who just don't like turkey and they serve all sorts of foods.

Today is the day we put the turkey out to defrost. I have never bought a fresh turkey.

pattygirl63 11-24-2019 12:23 PM

I made the 20 hr fast yesterday and I'm working on another one today. Weight bounced up to 210.4 for some reason and FBG was 117 which is around where it is most days now. My bs before I finally ate yesterday after the 20 hr fast was 97. So I was happy about that.

We have no big plans for Thanksgiving this year. We don't care for turkey too much any more especially to cook a whole one so we are just having chicken with stuffing and some veggie. DH has no desire for dessert so we aren't even having any. We are the kind of people who are thankful everyday so we feel like everyday is thanksgiving for us

Nothing going on today just relaxing and watching the Cowboys

Y'all have a blessed Sunday.

Pipsicle 11-24-2019 01:44 PM

No change- WHEW!

Carol- Glad to hear your sleep is getting back to normal.
Patty- Great job on the fast and your new program.
Mad- Love hearing about your tailgate and train trip with the littles.

So today, on "official" weigh-in day, the scale is showing no change. Although, earlier in the week it was showing between a half pound and two pound loss. Having a fair amount of frustration because I am making so many better choices. I'd really like it to see it pay off somewhere (BP still up, haven't test FBG for a while, A1c is up). With regards to fasting, I have been doing 16 hour fasts with regularity for a while. Is it common for A1c to go up?

I did really well on my trip to Disneyland and only overate a little on one day. The trip was fantastic and I really love going there. I picked this time because it is a slower time for the parks and we almost spent more time on the rides than waiting in line for them. The hotel bed was very comfortable and I slept really well.

Going to see my relatives this week. I have been visiting my niece and nephew as much as I can to be supportive of them (started when their parents were going through a nasty split). However, before that I was estranged from my family (rough childhood). I really wanted my husband to come for the early part of the week and then visit his family the second part. I needed his support since I have issues with my family. However, he's decided to visit his family for the first part. I'm tying not to feel abandoned but I do. My daughter who is 14 will be coming with me.

Once I get through this week, I want to go back to doing longer fasts. I'm not convinced it is really helping me with better BS but it helps me reduce my calories. I am hoping that will help me lose more weight. As of right now, I am looking at a gain for the month. It seems unlikely that I can lose two pounds or more during Thanksgiving week to post a loss for the month.
