I hope you feel better, too, Trish. Colds seem to hit us harder than they did when we were younger.

Your weight has been coming down nicely. I see a pound loss every once in a while, nothing earth shattering. Down is always better than up.

I ate terrible food today. DH wanted burgers from Wendy's, so I tried the chicken tenders they have been advertising. I ate them, but didn't really like them. I'm glad I got the 3pack instead of 4.

I think I'm going to go to bed early tonight and watch TV until I fall asleep.

Wannabehealthy 11-28-2017 08:39 AM

I got a good night's sleep, but I still have the sniffles and congestion. Just can't shake it.

Yesterday, when I was shopping in Walmart, my knee was really hurting. Then when I got home my foot started hurting, too. I thought that pain was gone. Then I realized I hadn't been taking the Tumeric. I didn't want it sitting out on the counter with my grandson here for Thanksgiving, so I had put it away in my bedroom. So I had forgotten to take it for a few days. I took 2 this morning as soon as I realized it. The bottle says to take 3 per day, but once I get it built up in my system, one a day seems to handle it, and I can even skip a day here and there. I want to take the least amount that gives results. I never believed that this would work, but I'm amazed at how much better I feel with it. I'm almost out, so I will have to get another bottle. I bought it at Walmart. It is the one that contains the black pepper because that is said to activate the absorption.

Hope everyone is doing well.

pattygirl63 11-28-2017 07:52 PM

Not much changed here. I took a sleeping pill last night and should have taken only half as it always makes the next day bad. I've been sleepy and groggy all day.

FBS was much improved in spite of taking Nyquil around 6 am this morning. I think they use a sweetener in those meds now instead of sugar. I forgot they use sweeteners and I have had some potty issues from it, but not as bad as it would be if I used diet food or took Metformin. My FBS was 154 which is a big improvement from the upper 170s I've had lately. I think the WW plan is going to be very helpful. I think I eat healthier when I'm on it.

DH went to the doctor yesterday for him to approve his eye surgery. DH told him he had cut his Metformin back to 1 a day. Doc wants him to take 1 1/2 instead of just one. Hope that works for him.

Carol Sue Sorry about the inflammation and pain, but at least you know why and how to correct it. I hope you get over the cold soon.

My Daddy called when he got home from the doctor's office and wanted me to go to the doctor. I told him they can't do anything about a cold because it is a virus. I assured him that I am doing all that can be done and I will be fine. The main thing I'm trying to do is see to it that it doesn't become worse. It started with a scratchy throat and I didn't want it to become a sore throat. It actually feels better today. A little bit of cough still hanging on. I think when this sleepiness wears off that I'll feel a lot better. It seems to have settled in the sinuses and sinus meds will help that.

Haven't been too hungry today. Made myself eat just to help with healing. Took me a while to get dinner cooked because I would get tired and have to sit for a few minutes. DH said that he should have just heated up some soup, but I felt we needed a good balanced meal instead. I don't think I will be eating anything else today which will make me eating only 2/3 of my points for today, but I just don't feel like dealing with it right now.

I'm going to relax and maybe sleep through this movie DH has on. Catch y'all tomorrow.

Wannabehealthy 11-29-2017 10:11 AM

Trish, I'm glad you got a lot of sleep. It's what your body needs for healing. I haven't had a sore throat in a long time. My cold is just runny nose, watery eyes and coughing up congestion from my chest. I would start to think it's pneumonia, but I don't really have a fever and what I'm coughing up is clear. I'm just tired of blowing my nose. Every once in a while I get really tired, and take a little nap.

Last night I woke up around 4 and I wanted cucumbers. LOL I had to google to see if that meant something in particular. It did not. DH doesn't like me to eat cucumbers because I was eating a lot of them in the days leading up to my heart surgery. I really don't think that had anything to do with it. They are healthy and low calorie. I almost got up and ate last night, but I fell back to sleep instead. Maybe I'll have the cucumber for lunch.

I didn't eat a lot yesterday but what I did eat was carb. DH wanted hamburgers for dinner and I didn't want that. I wanted spaghetti, but didn't have any, so I cooked some noodles with butter. That was dinner. When I don't feel good my body wants comfort food. I took my full dose of Glimiperide yesterday and FBG was 147 this morning.

I have a list of things I need from the store. I need ground beef, and there's only one store here where I will buy that. The rest of the things I need I'm going to get at Target. I buy their brand of paper products, so will get the rest of the things I need, also.

It has been unseasonably warm here all week with lots of sunshine. I think next week winter will be back. I wouldn't be mad if the whole winter was like this.

We put up our outside Christmas decorations. We don't put up as much as we used to. Just enough. The inside will be decorated closer to Christmas.

I hope you continue to feel better and continue to do well with WW.

pattygirl63 11-29-2017 11:37 AM

Carol Sue Thanks. I am a little better. No scratchy or sore throat today. I think I am just dealing with a sinus situation because I can feel it in around the nose and sinus area. I'm taking Sudafed for that now.

I too need to go to the store, but haven't felt like going. I sleep at night but I don't sleep as good as I would without this sinus problem. I will be glad when this passes. Hopefully by the time I go to the beauty shop Friday, I will feel good enough to go to the store. I need to go to Sam's to get fish. I buy my codfish there because they are nice sized fillets.

I think that is funny about you waking up craving cucumbers. I find that interesting. Must be something in it your body needs.

I am enjoying WW. I decided that the $19.95 a month is not a bad price if it keeps me OP. My weight is coming down. It was 213.2 this morning. I am not going to count it until next Monday as I know my weight bounces around. I like being able to eat whatever I want to eat as long as I stay within the pts. I also like not having to count the low carb veggies and fruit. I don't eat a lot of fruit, but I can have it with no problem. FBS was 160 this morning, but not sure why as it was 154 yesterday. I know it bounces so not going to worry about it. I know that WW will work so I'm just going to go with it. No more bouncing from one diet to another.

Have a good day.

Wannabehealthy 11-29-2017 12:44 PM

Everything I read says that fruit contains fructose, which doesn't affect blood sugar, but I don't believe them. It seems to affect mine some. I do eat it though. I try to have a banana every day and now I bought some apples and am having one a day of those, too. For a while, DH and I were splitting an orange, but we can't seem to get good ones lately.

Eating whatever you want is what makes WW attractive, and you don't have to eat carbs if you don't want to. I did WW low carb and it worked for me. When I say "Low Carb" I am referring to starchy carbs, like bread, pasta, rice, etc. I always eat the carbs in vegetables. They contain fiber which I feel offsets any carbs they contain. I even eat starchy vegetables, in small portions.

I ate some cucumber for lunch, so my craving has been satisfied. LOL

pattygirl63 11-29-2017 06:51 PM

I have had very little to eat today. I had peanut butter with 1/2 banana and Gala apple for breakfast. I didn't feel like cooking so DH made us soup. I had a can of cream of broccoli soup and thought it sounded good. I didn't eat all of it as it tasted awful. I won't be buying that again. It almost made me sick to my stomach. I forgot to check bs before I ate and DH suggested I eat a piece of toast so I could take them. That is all I've eaten today. I thought maybe that would get rid of the after taste of the soup I had for lunch.

All I have done is sleep. I do that when I'm sick. I'm hoping that feeling will be gone tomorrow. I told Daddy that I feel like I have cabin fever from being cooped up here all this week. I need to get to the store, but wouldn't even attempt to drive right now with the way I feel. [

B]Carlo Sue[/B] I'm glad you took care of the cucumber craving.

Wannabehealthy 11-29-2017 08:11 PM

Well, Trish, now I'm craving a pork chop! LOL Honest, I KNOW I'm not pregnant.

pattygirl63 11-30-2017 10:26 AM

Carol Sue Are you sure? LOL I think what is happening is that your body is starting to tell you what it wants. At least you are craving good healthy foods.

I don't eat more than 3 fruits a day and most days only 2 because I think there is a reason they say for diabetics to only eat 2 or 3 fruits a day. I eat the banana to mash the cinnamon in so I can eat it. I usually forget to eat other fruit that I have here. I try to go at least 4 hrs between meals and no snacks so I don't eat fruit all that much, but I think 2 or 3 is ok. I am trying to eat an apple a day because it is supposed to be so good for us. I did read that oranges are a good fruit for diabetics too. I think it is the vitamin C in it.

I finally got a good nights sleep for the first time this week which really helps me feel more human today. My noticed my throat wass still a little sore at night, but it clears up during the day so I've decided that is from drainage. I'm beginning to think this was caused by a sinus allergy. I started taking some sinus pills yesterday and it helped a lot. My DS and BIL wanted me to go to the doctor, but I don't go to the doctor for every little thing. I know my body and new with rest etc, I would be fine. I assured them that I would have no problem going to the doctor if I felt that I needed to.

Since I'm feeling better today, I'm going to start getting busy around here. I got my house nice and clean before Thanksgiving and I want to keep it that way. I don't have too much to do to keep it clean and since I'm not exercising right now I can count my housework as exercise on WW. I think they just want you moving. This is the first day I have felt like doing any cooking or cleaning. I have a basket of clothes I need to fold today. I usually fold them the same day I wash, but as Hubby #2 would say, we've been living out of the basket of clothes. LOL.

My weight has been coming down a little each day since I started WW. I hope it keeps coming down. It feels so good to see the scale moving down. I am back down to 212.6 this morning. This would be great except it is only a 1 lb loss the month of November. I have bounced up and down so much. This encourages me that maybe doing WW will keep it going down and I will do better next month. Anything below 212 will be new territory for me as I haven't weighed less than 212 in years. I am excited about that and encourages me to keep going.

My sister has seen some of her friends who still do WW and they told her that it is easier to lose on now than it has ever been. I'm looking forward to see what the new plan is when it comes out in a few days. I hope my sister will decide to do it again. One of my her problems is that she doesn't like fruits and veggies and those are freebies on WW.

The last time I did WW their website didn't work very good, but seems to work well this time. I get upset because they don't have a lot of foods on there, but then I decided that someone has to put it in there so I am adding some of my foods to their list. Maybe that will not only help me, but others too.

I had DH get me some eggbeaters when he went to the store the other day. I am going to have an omelet made with them this morning. I plan to cook chicken tenders for our main meal. I'm still trying not to eat too many high carb foods. I do believe the rule of no more than 5 high starchy carbs is probably a good rule to follow an it is easy to follow that plan with WW.

I better get busy. Have a good day.

Wannabehealthy 11-30-2017 01:25 PM

Today I put 3 eggs on to boil right before a friend stopped in and I forgot to set the timer. I guess you know the rest of the story. LOL The water boiled away. We heard one egg explode, and the other two were burned and cracked open. They were completely ruined, so I made 3 more. Good thing eggs are cheap. I want to put them in beet juice and vinegar for pickled eggs.

I'm making stuffed peppers for dinner. I got over my craving for the pork chop, but did buy a new package while at the store so I have them on hand the next time I'm craving them. I used to love pork chops Then DH only liked them cooked in sauerkraut, which I didn't like. For some reason now he likes them "fried." He calls it that, but I call them "grilled" because I cook them on my grill pan, just sprayed with Pam.

I agree that the foods I am craving are healthier foods than most people crave. I'm glad. I still eat some junk food once in a while, but mostly that's because there's no healthy food readily available. Junk food is quick.

Maybe you can get your sister interested in preparing some veggies so they are more tasty, so she will like them. It's really good for weight loss to fill up on fibrous vegetables.

pattygirl63 12-01-2017 10:11 AM

Carol Sue I've done that before with the eggs. I get involved in something else and forget about them.

I'm headed out to the beauty shop this morning. I need to go by the store after I get my hair done, but may not. In fact, I wouldn't go out today at all if I didn't need to get my hair done. Daddy has CHF appointment Tuesday so I need to look half way decent. Not really sure how today will go.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new WW plan. I read on one of the WW groups on FB that they are going toward more protein, veggies and fruit.

BBL

Wannabehealthy 12-01-2017 10:35 AM

Trish, normally when I boil eggs, I wait until the water starts to boil then set the timer for 10 minutes. My new procedure will be to set the timer for 9 or 10 min and see if that's when it starts to boil, and then reset the timer for the 10. That way I won't forget I put them on.

Did you actually sign up for WW again? I have been waiting to see what you think of it. I have been reading about the new plan and it sounds very good. Some have posted that they are adding more 0 points foods, such as lean meat, eggs, beans and fish. These are all foods I like and eat often. I realize that 0 points does not mean unlimited. I also read that the daily points count will be lower, but that's to be expected. The numbers they quoted indicates that points went down by about 22 %. Someone said it is getting closer to Simply Filling. I might check to see if I can do a 1 month trial once they get this new plan rolled out. My only complaint is that once they get a plan going good they come out with something new so they can make more money.

On another site, someone said that WW changes their plans and makes it harder to lose weight so you will have to pay for a longer period of time. But that wouldn't make sense, because if you're not losing, you're most likely going to quit and try something else. Human nature is going to be to continue something that is working well for you. No matter what plan you are on, how much and what you eat is up to you in the end. They also addressed the need to eat all your points. I remember when I was going to meetings they said that many people don't eat all their points. I don't think it's necessary as long as you are eating to satisfaction. There are always weekly points if you are hungrier on some days.

EDIT: I just checked online and there is still no mention of the new plan. They are still referencing Beyond the Scale. Also, there used to be 2 meeting places in my town and they are no longer available. The closest one is 7 miles away, and I know I won't go there, so if I were to join, it will have to be online. I really like meetings. I am going to hold off on this until they roll out the new plan, which might not be until January. Then I will reconsider.

pattygirl63 12-01-2017 01:37 PM

Carol Sue No, I didn't have to sign up again. I had paid for 3 months originally and it was up today. I just wrote a note asking them not to stop my membership and they billed me today to continue the subscription.

There is nothing on the WW website about the new plan changes as of yet. It is supposed to come out on December 3rd. I did read online that there are going to be some lean proteins including some beans, but not all that will become 0 pts foods. Also some fruits and veggies. I did read on WW site this morning where they are encouraging us to eat healthy fats. I think they must be leaning more toward eating healthier low carb foods and less sugary foods. From what I am reading, I think higher carb foods and high fat foods will probably cost more points. I am wondering if they are leaning more toward the Simply Filling plan they once had. I look forward to seeing the changes.

I didn't go to the store. I just didn't feel up to it. I don't know if DH will feel like going shopping this afternoon or not. We have enough food to wait until tomorrow or even Sunday. I don't really feel bad, I just feel quite myself yet. I just need a few more days to get my strength back.

Wannabehealthy 12-02-2017 09:50 AM

Trish, the new WW plan has already been released in UK and I found this website that explains it somewhat and gives a list of the 0 point foods.

https://www.slenderkitchen.com/blog/...freestyle-plan

I can still get online on WW with my old sign it, but since I am no longer participating all I can get is the articles....none of the tools. I am going to look into it more after the new plan is up and running.

I am gradually feeling better. The problem is, I feel good enough to go out, but I think I would get better faster if I stayed home and rested. DH doesn't see it that way and likes me to go with him all the time. Someone said Mucinex helps get rid of the congestion. I will have to see how that effects blood pressure. I know I am to avoid decongestants. My foot pain is off and on, but not nearly as bad as it was.

I hope you feel better soon, too.

pattygirl63 12-02-2017 01:11 PM

Carol Sue Thanks for the link. I copied and pasted to print out the info. Since I like a lot of these foods, I don't think it would be difficult to keep points low.

Glad you are feeling better. I am feeling better too and wish I could stay home today, but we need to go to Sam's and Walmart. I was wanting to wait until the new WW plan came out but with this list, I can get foods that work with the plan.

Have a good day.
