Fatmad I am learning how to do WW on my laptop. I just don't do a lot of things on my phone. I wish they had WW books with some of the new info, of course, they may have but they didn't offer and I haven't asked. I may ask later. I just don't want to go to meetings. I hate weighing with them later in the day dressed and I get tired and bored with the meeting after a few of them. I do like the fact that I can go in on WW online and plan my meals when going out to eat. We are going to McAllister's Deli today and I've already tracked my planned meal. Not want I wanted originally, but a lot less pts. Same thing happened yesterday when I was meeting a friend at Bojangles when I decided to eat before I went and just had coffee when I got there. I am enjoying using WWSP and will probably keep my membership for a while, maybe until I get the weight off and bs in check.
FickleHearts My FBS was all over the place when I first started. I also get the higher morning readings, but they come down later in the day. I'm only taking Metformin and it doesn't really bring bs down like Glimeperide and others. My FBS was 163 yesterday and today. I noticed that I had one day last week when it was 163. Scale moved down a lb and one more lb and my ticker will be correct. It is strange that everyone does so well with the low carb, but I do so much better with lowfat. So I will be staying with that to. I don't use a lot of FF foods however, I do use lowfat and some Light foods. I think one reason WW SP is good for me is that the new formula counts sugar, fat and protein encouraging more protein, but less sugar and fat. |
Trish, I think the biggest problem I had with WW the last time I did it was figuring the points in my recipes. I had to figure the points of each ingredient. Mostly I ended up guessing. I guess I just don't understand points. I am the opposite of you, I didn't do well when I did it online but did much better when I attended the meetings.
I really wish we had a TOPS nearby. They are a lot cheaper than WW and they don't require you to follow any particular plan. |
Carol Sue I haven't tried making a recipe yet, but I have made up some meal plans and saved them. Example, I eat oatmeal the same way each time I eat it except that I change the fruit in it. However, the fruit I use is always 0 pts. I now can just hit oatmeal breakfast and it automatically comes up with the correct #pts. However, I can change ingredients or ingredient sizes if I want.
I think there are a lot of other good things I can do with the site, but I've got to do more reading and learn how. I really think a recipe will be easier to track as well. Any way, it is working great for me so I believe this is going to become my eating lifestyle. |
Evening everyone
I'm not a fan of WW, but my reasoning is MFP tracks so much more for me. I can check my calories eaten, carbs, sodium and exercise as I go along during the day. I use the app on my phone and since I eat some meals over and over they are right there to add. In my mind, WW, keeps saying it works, but then why do they keep changing their plan? ( I know it money I'm being sarcastic lol) just my 2 cents. |

Also, something that helps a lot of people to lose weight, is to eat mostly similar things. I am having one of 4 things for breakfast every day now. so I save these as "meals" and don't have to worry about or think about points each time. I am working on having similar lunches, and maybe a few suppers. Some books also talk about re-learning about the purpose of food, to "fuel" our bodies. Not treating food as a reward or pleasure. I am not sure I want to go that far, but those of us who routinely overeat do have to learn to have a different relationship with food, one that works for us and not against us. I am finding this really hard to do, all day, every day. I will probably be griping and whining about it a lot. Sorry in advance. |
My body is loving the WW SP plan. My FBS was 151 this morning. I just noticed that my ticker was accurate yesterday. However, I am actually .2 lb lower. So .2 lb more and I will be below it. So I should have a weight loss next Monday which is my WI day. Slow and steady. WW says I should exercise 22 minutes a day so I'm doing 25 minutes 6 days a week on the bike. Gives me approximately the same amount of weekly exercise. I'm not using my exercise pts for food.
DH is taking me to Texas Roadhouse for our anniversary tonight. I've already planned the meal. I am only spending 11 SP for the meal. I'm ordering a 3 or 4 oz steak, steamed veggies and the salad dressing on the side so I won't get a lot of it and we won't get the bread. Steak houses are always easy for dieting. Fatmad I have 2 or 3 breakfasts that I eat the same with small changes. I love the fact that I can create the meals and save so that all I have to do is choose the meal and the pts are there. I did do a couple of recipes like that too. I like the fact that it keeps up with my foods that I use regularly too so I'm not having to search as much. DH and I pretty much eat the same meals each week so I plan to take some of our regular meals and create them too so it will become easier to track. I think I am going to love the new site when I get used to it. I also love the help chat as well. I talk to a helper last night because I wanted to see if they have books with the SmartPoints like they have always had before for PP. I ordered them and I also noticed they have a little SP calculator as well so I ordered them. I also asked how I can know if the frozen dinners pts or PP or SP. She didn't know the answer to that one, because she said they will be putting the SP dinners out as the old PP sell out. I don't eat a lot of frozen but DH doesn't like lasagna and I do, so those meal WW makes that he doesn't like, I buy for me to have without cooking them. Have a great day everybody. |
I got to my lowest weight ever on WW's. Sounds like the new plan is shifting to more low carb than low fat? That seems interesting. I'm glad it's working out well for you pattygirl63. :) Enjoy your steak and happy anniverary!
I did the control test on both monitors and both came out okay. It's got to be the dawn effect. It's the only logical thing I can think of. I go back to the doctor on Wed and I'll discuss it with him then. I'm also going to ask to see if he can recommend an endo. My weight loss has stopped completely, but it did this last time I got on keto. I stall out for about 2 weeks. Annoying, but nothing I can't deal with. I need to start walking again, I think that would help my readings and the scale, but I'm really depressed lately and getting the motivation up is hard. It's not really the diagnosis, just personal stuff in general. I'm hoping it'll clear up soon. |
Trish, I didn't know TX Roadhouse had a steak that small. DH gets the 6 oz and I thought that was the smallest. He is not a big eater. I usually get the roasted chicken as I am not a big steak fan.
I think it's nice that you can use the WW frozen meals because that would help when you and DH don't want the same thing. That is a problem we sometimes have here. We are supposed to go to Tx Roadhouse this week because we have a coupon that expires the end of the month. The cable guy is coming today, so if he is gone early enough we will go today, if not, tomorrow. I usually get a salad and fresh vegetables instead of a potato. They always put the dressing on the side. I think it's unusual that they put eggs in their salad because so many people are allergic to eggs. This sounds like it's really working for you, Trish. |
FickleHearts The first time I went to WW years ago I lost weight, but couldn't afford to keep paying to go then moved where they didn't have meetings and of course we didn't have computers then. Strange thing is that I have never gained enough to weigh what I weighed the first time I went. I've gained and lost up to where I was when I quit, but have never gained those lbs back. But when I've tried WW after that I just couldn't seem to lose except one time my late DH aunt attended meetings and she made copies of the diet for me and I enjoyed it then because they use the exchange plan and I learned how to use it to cook for my whole family. All the other plans just didn't work for me. I am thankful this one does.
Glad you monitors are working okay. Carol Sue I don't know if they have a 3 or 4 oz steak or not, but I figure I can either go ahead and use the SP which I can spend or I will cut it in half and bring the other half home for DG to take for lunch tomorrow. I won't use but enough of dressing for 1 or 2 pts and by eating the salad and steamed veggies I don't have to count as they are 0 pts. |
Trish, DH gets the 6 oz steak and doesn't finish it, but we bring it home for the dog. DH is a small eater until it comes to snacks and sweets. I usually get the saland and steamed veggies too, but I splurged yesterday because it was planned, and it was my belated birthday treat. I enjoyed it and am back on plan today. I even had a beer, which is very unusual for me. LOL I brought half of my meal home, but I'm not really hungry for it. The dog might get that, too.
I would like to do the old exchange plan from WW. I just don't like figuring out the points. It's just me. I know thousands of other people do it just fine. When I did it last time I figured out the points for some foods and then just ate those foods over and over. |
We enjoyed our dinner at TX roadhouse. I ate the 6 oz steak and DH and I halved a dinner roll. With all my exercise, I earned 12 pts yesterday, but I still didn't use them. I still have 25 weekly pts left after eating a little more yesterday than usual.
I remember them telling me last time I did WW that I not only needed to eat all my daily pts, but I needed to eat the weekly as well. I just might try that. However, I'm not sure I will ever eat all my weekly pts. One nice thing about doing this is I am eating a lot of veggies as well as the fruit I like. I love grapefruit and now I can eat it again. I have a new low this morning. :carrot: Down another 1.4 lbs and WI isn't until Monday. FBS was a little high, but probably because I took a benedryl last night to help me sleep. Have a nice day. |
I used to bank my weekly points and activity pts for the weekend so I could have a "cheat" day. Cheat mainly consisted of a DQ blizzard or maybe a burger and fries. Wasn't really cheating, but felt like it LOL.
Grats on the WL! Mother nature came to visit me today, so that scale definitely won't be moving for a while. Oh well. :D I feel lighter. Does that count? LOL! |
I finally got back to exercising today and I feel so good! I hope I stick with it. I don't usually do formal exercise on weekends because I'm out and about and consider that my exercise.
Ficklehearts, that weight gain is temporary and beyond your control. It will go away again. I wouldn't worry about having the cheat day. This one woman on another thread does a diet that has a cheat day every week and she has really lost a lot of weight. It's all in how you work your plan. Trish, WTG on the good weight loss!! You are working this!!! |
I used to try 'cheat meals' but they always turned into more then a day...lol
Now if I really want something like chips ( my weakness) I'll buy a big bag when I have company, put them all in a bowl and share. It's the only way I can do it. I'd eat chips before anything.... |
I believe that ww says you "must" eat all your daily points, but the weekly ones are optional, like eating back fit points. I found that eating all my weekly points didn't get me weight loss, but I used some for flexibility, so I didn't stress about going 1-2 points over on a day. When I had 26 on the old plan, I usually found I ate 30 points worth most days, to avoid feeling hungry or deprived. That was just my need.
This time with the 30 SP, I am only going over a point or two most days. I also got back on the treadmill in the morning the last 2 days. SO skipped Monday and Tuesday exercise after an all nighter Sunday into Monday. Takes a bit to talk myself into it. I went out with a friend tonight and we visited and played a game of "upwards" which was fun. We both had a small treat at the cafe where we played, and managed not to pig out. very happy with being able to socialize without over-eating. Also did well at the lunch potluck at work. Keep up the good work everyone. |
p.a. not everyone can do cheat meals or cheat days. I tend to do better if I just stay away from the foods I shouldn't be eating. I also don't like to do substitute foods, such as low carb or low fat recipes for baked goods or treats. If I eat those things I start to think I can eat the real thing, too. I have somehow lost my taste for sweets and baked goods and I want to keep it that way. On the other hand, some people can't eliminate things altogether or they feel deprived and end up bingeing. One day last week I got so hungry for chocolate cake. I knew better than to bake one, so I bought just a slice of it from the store. I enjoyed it when I ate it, but I can still feel that sugar cursing through my veins! It gives me a yukky feeling.
Mad, when I was single and used to go to the dance clubs with my friends, they always went to the all-night Pancake House afterwards. I just said my goodnights and went home. There was no way I could eat late at night like that. |
My FBS is down to 139 this morning. Thank God. I hope I have it low enough by the time I go to the doctor in March that it will be down further. Even though my A1c won't be real good, I will be able to tell him what I am doing and show him how the numbers have come down with the new WW plan.
Fatmad It makes me feel so good to not feel like I'm on a diet any more. I finally feel like I'm a normal person when it comes to eating. There have been situations where I have eaten some of my weekly point, but I prefer to save those for when DH and I go out to eat or special occasions. I don't feel like I have to eat them. Like you when I had 26 pts sometimes I felt like I needed a little more, but I find that I don't really need the 30 pts. I seem to only need about 28. I am really beginning to enjoy and even look forward to riding my recumbent bike too. That is a nice feeling because I used to really dread it. I feel so much better after riding it. I remember thinking my pastor was crazy when he talked about how you could actually want to and enjoy exercising. I didn't think I could ever feel this way about it. Ate too much salty carby foods yesterday so today is going to be a lower carb day. Have a great day. |
Other than the weekend before I was diagnosed type 2 and my oatmeal cookie binge, I haven't cheated since I went back to low carb. The cheat day I was mentioning was when I did WW's back in 2003ish? :) I want to drop a good 30 lbs before I cheat this time around and am hoping to do so by May. We're going on vacation and I'm wanting to go horseback riding. I meet the stables weight requirements now, but I'd like to be in the 180/190's at least by then.
I won't be too terribly upset as I can ride now, but it would be nice. As it is, I managed to drop another lb this morning. I'm hoping after sleeping later tomorrow I have another gone, but to be on my period and have a drop at all is pleasant! I retain so much water this time of month. :( I now officially have 10 lbs to lose to get back to my pre Christmas weight. So frustrated at myself, but I made the decision to eat horribly and now I have to reap the consequences. BG is still wonky. In the lower to mid 90's before bed and then 120's to 130's in the morning. Back to the Dr. on Wed. I'm wondering if my hormones are out of whack. |
Morning
I've been bouncing up and down for months now and frustrated. I did well all week, lower carb and sodium got back into the 240's and this morning BAM bounced back into 250's.....ughhhh I'm updating my tracker and avatar , maybe it was giving my bad karma lol Carol I'm like you I can't do the crazy low carb desserts or treats out there.... |
Hi folks,
I've been lurking for a little bit and thought it was time to join the discussion. I'm a type 2 who is just getting back into the swing of things, now about a month in. I've been doing okay with it and brought my readings down significantly, but they're still far from ideal. I'm getting low on meds though and need to find a new doctor before I can get more, so I'm afraid I may backslide some. So a big challenge this week. I'm so inspired by all of you. This disease is murder, and you're kicking it with grace and realism. I want to be like you when I grow up! ;) Anne, Who is undercaffeinated, undermotivated, and over it. |
FickleHearts Congratulations on the 1 lb loss. I don't know why our FBS bounces around so. I am beginning to look at what I eat the night before.
I am not sure I am a person who needs to eat low carb. I'm noticing that when I eat low carb that my FBS is higher than it is when I eat carbs. Not real sure what that means. I am going to be start keeping up with it more closely watching it more to see if it is just a fluke or what. Anne WELCOME!!! Glad you decided to join us. Good luck on journey. I hope you get a good doctor to work with. I have a really good doctor who seems to really care about DH and me. After all these years, FBG is still a mystery to me. My reading yesterday was 139 and the eating the day before was more carbs than usual. Yesterday was a low carb day and my FBG was 173. So asI said above, I'm going to keep an eye on it to see what is going on. Have a nice weekend. |
My doc has told me to stop worrying about FBGL because it can drive us nuts and is not necessary unless we are on insulin. He says HA1C tells the true tale. (I love him! I know his mother and have seen his baby pics - adorable as a baby too!)
So I am avoiding all sugars, limiting wine, eating three balanced meals, no snacking and :crossed:. I've even lost a little bit. Unfortunately my foot pain is keeping me from walking but I'm "on the waiting list" for toe surgery. I was referred in August 2014 and the surgeon is now working on the April 2014 referrals! It's an elective surgery so ... in the meantime, it's very painful; to walk my dogs or shop and is affecting my lifestyle. |
Ruth, I have heard that about FBG too, that it's not the main factor. My doctor doesn't even ask about fasting, just goes by A1c. Somewhere I read that when you are working toward lower BG, the fasting reading will be the last to go down.
Sorry to hear about your foot pain. Sounds like my knee issues, only worse. Hope you can get it fixed, soon. Trish, I have not changed my eating a lot, but my FBG didn't go down until I started taking my Metformin at bedtime. And it's still higher if I don't have my egg at bedtime. I think maybe there is too long between your last meal and the first meal in the AM. Your body thinks it's not going to get food so it releases glucose. This is why they suggest that we have a small snack before bed, but the snack differs from person to person. Since you are doing so well, I would hold back some food from your meals and eat it before bed, instead of adding more food as a snack. For me it has to be the protein and fat from the egg, but it might be different for you. Welcome, Anne, jump right in with us!! |
for many of us, a snack in the evening is needed to reduce fasting blood sugars, but we don't want to do it (we want to lose the weight) or haven't saved enough points etc.
The thing to do, is make it a very small snack. Try 10 peanuts. There is enough protein and fat to make it digest slowly, but enough carb to help keep you from dumping sugar from your liver overnight. I agree that A1C is important overall, but high fasting sugars mean we are dumping glucose overnight and don't have good control overall. Having highs isn't good for us, generally. |
Well, Mad, that's why I suggested keeping something from your daily allotment to eat before bed as your snack, rather than add something on top of what you eat all day. I have found by trial and error that 1 egg, usually scrambled, keeps me from having the dawn phenomenon. I tried 2 eggs once, didn't work. Just one egg. I have tried other things, and the egg worked the best. But that's just me. I think Trish tried it once and it didn't help. We're all different. I talked to a woman on a Diabetes Forum who uses a small piece of Slim Jim. It works for her.
|
Finally I'm back into the 240's.....I ended the month of January with a .8 loss. Woooopiedoo! It's ok it was a loss and I worked my butt off to get back into the 240's. Now to work towards the 230's.
I've been eating a prepackaged 100 calorie unsalted roasted almonds. Works perfectly for my fasting number in the morning. Right around 5.6 any higher carbs and I shoot up to 7. |
Good job, p.a. You have to find what works for you!
|
HI gang:
busy work weekend and sleep recovery. Hoping of more sleep tonight and a bit calmer rest of the week. SO what IS working, is the tracking is helping me with these irregular hours. Thats when I fall off the wagon and stop eating right and then can't get back on to a good food plan. Its working well for now, and I will keep tracking. But for now, off to bed again. Have a good week |
I find it amusing I weigh 7 lbs heavier than I did pre-Holidays, but I've lost inches so all my pants fit looser.... I read somewhere that metformin helps with weightloss, specifically visceral fat, so hmmmmm. I refuse to give the credit to the drug though. I've ate 1200 or less calories a day now, started my walks and started dancing in the evening, and not cheated once. I'm going to credit my hard work and my huge calorie deficit since I'm not eating my workout calories back.
Prior to my diagnosis, I had ordered 3 boxes of girl scout cookies. They came in this weekend. I sold them to my co-workers. On one hand, I'm ecstatic they are gone and temptation is dead, but on the other...... sniffle. You can only get them once a year. Oh well. |
Fickle, wow, thats great. When did you start the lower cal eating? Muscle is heavier than fat, so the exercise may be doing it too, and the extra muscle will help you burn more calories. Good news all around
|
Haven't had time to post much. Food plan is good WI was yesterday with a 2 lb loss. FBS isn't really low but it sure isn't as high as it has been being. I tried to go to another Metformin to take 2 times a day but I cannot take more than 1 a day. However, I think with the 1 Metformin, the WW SP and exercise that it everything will finally come down. Might be a little slower but that is okay. I am pleased with the 2 lb loss this past week.
In the past I always want to do this quickly, but not any more. At my age, I think slow is better. I want to lose the weight slowly because I don't want to wrinkle. Vanity. LOL [B][/FickleB] Great job with the cookies. I always loved the girl scout cookies. I don't know any girl scouts any more so never get that temptation any more. Fatmad Tracking has helped me a lot. My best friend who comes for coffee on Mondays likes to have some type of baked food. I bought some mini muffins for her this time. I thought since they were mini that I could have one. When I put in the info on WW, I was shocked that those little things were 9 pts. As you know when you only get 30 pts, you don't want to waste 9 pts on something that small. I've changed what I wanted to eat at restaurants because the pts were too high. I've give up the cream in my coffee because I don't want to use the pts. It does feel good to go out to eat and eat normal. I'm at the pt where I think pts when I look at a food. p.a. Congratulations on the .8 lb loss. I only loss about 1 lb for the whole month of January, but hey, we lost. I noticed we are close to each other in weight. My goal is to get under the 220s. Ruthie I'm glad you got your A1c and talked to your doctor. I read somewhere that the FBS reading was not as important as the readings through out the day. I've tested during the day and they run pretty good. I've even had a few normal readings during the day. Carol Sue, Anne and everybody  |
Trish, you think 2 lbs in a week is slow? 2 lbs is great! One lb a week is 52 lbs a year!!
Fickle, don't worry about the cookies. The girl scouts don't really make them, you know. tee hee! Do you believe my DH told me he thought the girl scouts made the cookies and was disappointed to find out they don't? LOL |
Hi Trish and all,
Tomorrow marks one month since I got back in the swing of things. I weigh myself on Mondays and Thursdays, and as of yesterday I've still only netted a 5 pound loss. I was down by 6 but gained one back this weekend with some splurges. That's okay. But the blood sugars have been creeping up again and I have to nip that in the bud. I found a doctor's office that's taking new patients and got an appointment this Thursday, so we'll see how that goes. I'll let you know. Trish, throw a little of that magic weight loss dust my way, will you? ;) Seriously, way to go! Fickle, you're stronger than I am! Every year I see the girl scouts selling outside the grocery stores and I have to firmly tell them no. It breaks my heart a little because I know how they can use the money and they try so hard, but it's too big a temptation for me. Fatmad, I have to track things now. I resisted it for so long because it used to make me obsess about food. I don't know when or how that changed. Keep it up! Go, p.a.!!!! I'm loving the tips everyone is sharing about timing things. I may not get to post every day but I'm here absorbing and wishing you all health and lower pounds. Anne Who was a First Class Girl Scout and works to be a first class woman |
Well, just got back from the Dr. I've lost 10 lbs in three weeks and he's ecstatic. He's increasing my met dose to 1500 a day now and eventually wants it up to 3000. It only messes up my tummy if I eat a lot of sugary foods, which lately has only been stuff like bbq sauce, or heavy fats. It doesn't bother me that bad though.
pattygirl - Hey, a weekly 2lb loss is healthy and awesome! Way to go! I was a brownie, but never made it to Girl Scout. Our local troop stopped it about the time I would have transitioned. So I never got to sell cookies, which was a good thing. I can eat a box in one sitting.... I did learn though that I can just donate the money and the troop will use it to send to the military ladies and gents stationed out of country. Definitely going to do that next time. Anybody use MFP to track? The moment I stop tracking I start cheating, so I have to do it. I've been back into the keto swing now for 3 weeks. Started the day I was diagnosed. I don't think my Dr. actually expected me to do a diet at all LOL. He seemed really shocked at the 10 lbs loss and the fact that my blood pressure is now perfect. I'm just happy with the inches lost. My green dress fits again! WOOT! I think once I get back to 207, my weight loss will slow down again. Right now I'm getting rid of stored glycogen and water. But 2 lbs a week is fine with me. I'm not in a hurry to get it off. I just want it off. |
FickelHeart I lost 2 lbs this week but only one was a real loss. But at least I am losing and I am thankful for that. I've had a difficult time losing and keeping it off and scale moving the past few years.
I've decided that low low carb is not for me. I am absolutely loving the new WW SP and my FBS was 136 this morning even though I had a little more carbs yesterday since we ate at Golden Corral although I didn't eat the favorite carrot cake. It just didn't interest me. Maybe because I knew I could have it as I had the pts to spend. I did have a few bites of the peach cobbler because it looked like the one Mama used to make. Had 2 bites and ditched it as it tasted awful. I did go heavy on the veggies. I had seen where some WW people eat Skinny Pop pop corn so I bought a big bag of it at Sam's. I ate it for a snack when I took my Metformin and my FBS was lower this morning. I love pop corn and this one is lightly salted and plain. So I will snack on it when I take the Metformin at night as long as it works. I am making tacos today and I always like taco salad. I was excited to find that my high fiber/low carb tortilla is only 1 pt. I can have a taco salad with the tortilla bowl I'll make 9 pts. I'm also using the new WW dinners because it is easier since I don't cook but once a day for DH and me and I can have some of the foods I like that he doesn't. This is so easy whether eating at home or eating out. And I'm learning if I make some things here at home rather than fast food, I can cut the pts down tremendously. I've decided that I can use the tortilla to make myself a pizza and still get DH one from Pizza Hut. I have found what I can live with. It doesn't even feel like I'm dieting. :carrot: |
I am down a couple of pounds, but not at ticker yet.
Maybe soon. Exercising is really hard right now. I got home from work and was sore sore, by upper back and shoulders were so achey. How to keep active when I just hurt all the time. ack. I did walk about a bit at lunch, but without a tracker, not sure how much. Will have to save up for a new one, but have many concerns. Is there a tracker thread? SO here's the thing with trackers: I don't need lots of bells and whistles, so lower priced and simpler is fine. I wear a medic alert bracelet, and they have a new deal with garmin for tracker/medical alert bracelets. and since I need a new bracelet as well, that could be a good deal, get both needs met at once. However, there is a new deal about them. Apparently, the blue tooth feature that lets it track you and sync etc also lets others track you. In fact malls and some stores are tracking how often you visit by your fitness tracker. The world of data mining and privacy invasion are real. And we are helping them out by wearing these things. only certain brands have privacy settings. (like the apple watch, which is the one I am sure I don't want) Any thoughts? |
I have a Fitbit One that I keep in my pocket because I have heard of people who clip them on and lose them. I didn't want something that I had to wear on my wrist constantly, that's why I chose the One. I also have a Fitbit Zip that I bought at Goodwill, new in the box, for $2. I keep that as a backup in case my One breaks or gets lost. I think you have to research them all and see which features you want. Be sure before you buy, so you don't miss something. Read the online reviews, good and bad. I just wanted basic information, as they are not 100% accurate.
Yesterday I was notified that my niece had a heart attack 2 weeks ago and is in intensive care on life support. They are ready to try removing the respirator and see if she can breathe on her own. She has a lot of heart damage. My main concern is that she may live after they remove the respirator, but will never recover enough to have a quality of life, and linger for years lying in that bed. She wouldn't want that. She is only 59, and a wife, mother and grandmother. |
Morning everyone
Carol I'm sorry for your family....I hope she's ok Fatmad I have a Fitbit but I got mine using my air miles...free is good! I love mine. I also heard about stores etc tracking people , why can't they just leave things alone.... Trish 2 pounds,,,,yeahhhhh Ficklehearts this year I noticed when the girl guide cookies were out, they asked if you wanted to buy a box for the food bank. I think that's another win-win situation. Of course I bounced back into the 250's the day before my weigh in.... Sighhhh I made my diabetes check appt for the end of the month...I'm really trying to get 5 pounds off before then. But I'm really hoping to lose 5 pounds a month before I head back home for a holiday... |
Carol Sue :hug:So sorry about your niece. I pray she will be alright. This is probably difficult for you since you have experienced some heart problems yourself. I hope if she lives and is able to recover that she will see that you have done well and follow your example.
Nothing much to report here today. DG is back to his old ways of missing school. I texted his Mother and told her about it. She said she was tired if this crap and would take care of it. I told her that I was sorry but I was tired of it too. He finally talked to me after she called him and woke him up. I told him I didn't have much to say to him that I thought we had all made things too easy for him and it is his life. That I have one son that has never grown up and had thrown everything away even his children and still hasn't grown up. I have learned that if he wants to graduate, he will straighten up and do it and if he doesn't that no one can make him do it. That the decision is his. I told him that you always have crap thrown at you in life and you have to grow up and decide what you want and life and fight for it. The choice is his. Other than that everything is going pretty good here. I just hope we can get him graduated in May and then he can move back to FL with his family down there. I thought dealing with kids this age was over when my kids got grown. Whew, is crazy for a woman my age. LOL Y'all have a great day. I am going to. |
Carol Sue
I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. Only a year older than me. How sad. I hope things work out well. |
