Shannon, I gave up on only posting once a day when I figured out tentatively that my pain was from my psoriasis.
Good job on 100 % OP!! I've not had a day like that in a while although I'm "in control."
I have a funny story to relate. We were ordering 4 car rim online. They were $89 each. The website offered a 25% discount on any order over $100. DH told me to place 2 orders, each for 2 rims. He said each would be over $100 so we would get 25% off each one, equaling 50%. LOL I had the hardest time explaining to him that it didn't work that way! He is very smart when it comes to fixing things, but math is not figured in there!

Carol Sue I am sorry I didn't mean any offense. I was just always told that it was all about balance balance balance so I wasn't sure if it was like the only way. Now I know
I am still figuring out how things affect me. Last night I had spaghetti for dinner plus 2 small slices of italian bread. But I took a small portion instead of how I would normally have eaten lol And then I got that 117 BS after dinner. So I must be able to atleast handle that reasonably enough.
I could totally sit down and eat an entire loaf of bread as well. And in the past sadly I have
There is so much trial and error and having to learn what works for you. It can seem really daunting.
My doctor was very happy though she said she wanted to wait and talk about the diabetes the next time I see her in 2 months.
Shannonsnail Thanks! I feel so happy about it! I am sorry yours is going up though I am bipolar with severe anxiety. Before counting calories was both good and bad for me. It kept me focused where if I wasn't focused and on a routine I couldn't function much less stay on plan. But at the same time I would obsess that I wasn't doing it right, I wasn't getting enough calories, getting too many, etc... and feel overwhelmed and not able to do it. But now I am on medication so I hope it balances me out so I can do it and stick with it.
I am sorry about all the house stress that is no fun I hope you find something soon!
pattygirl63 This CAD really sounds interesting. I look forward to hearing how you do on it. I love my carbs so much that I don't want to give them up. But I also have alot of negative feelings like pressure to go low carb. Maybe one carb meal could be a good balance of those emotions. Are you on insulin to offset the one carb meal?
Thanks ladies You are all so full of information i feel like a sponge lol

Thank you! So far so good today too but we'll be eating dinner at a place I generally "cheat" so I actually just ate a second lunch, lol, in hopes of staying low carb at dinner. We increased our viewing of houses from 2 to 4 to be more productive and we leave town at 4 pm to meet the agent at 5 pm so I estimate dinner to be around 7 pm....hoping I won't be completely starving. I just fed Olivia again too and will take snacks for her too. Something about driving from house to house turns her into a starving beast. She's already whiny today too, lol.
We just went to the bank and prequalified for a loan so we can make an offer if we see the right place. The repeat house today has alot of potential and was my favorite last time til I saw the one with the bigger lot that I thought Mark would prefer but he says he actually likes this house better online (he was not with me before) so we'll see. It doesn't have the front porch and screened porch I'd like (which the other one did) but it has a shady backyard with a nice deck and sunroom plus alot more actual rooms. The kitchen is pretty too. Keep me in your prayers! This is such a frustrating process on top of the emotions with deciding on moving to a smaller town....am I making the right decision? Is this a safer/better place to raise my daughter? Will we be completely bored in a smaller town and wished me stayed here? Etc etc. It is easier to deal with all that when you have to work in a specific location rather than being able to live anywhere.

Glad we can help you learn! It's a testimony to how unique we each are just in how we are able to lose weight and/or control BS! If I eat pasta my BS is ok as long as I don't also have the bread, lol! Tonight we will eat at a steak place that serves bread and potato with each meal AND has a free ice cream bar!! I usually cave to all of it. Tonight I'm going to try to stick to low carb bc if we move we will be eating there alot (hubby's favorite restaurant) so I need to learn to eat there with my new way of eating.

A quick flyby. FBS was down from 158 yesterday to 142 today. So will give a CAD a chance to see if it will help get me back to losing. Weight is also is down a little from last week from 123.8 to 122. Considering my overeating carbs this past week, that isn't bad. I'll give it a month to see if it works for me like it has in the past.
Shannon Praying the contract goes through for you and you have found your new home.
Y'all have a great day.

Shannon, I am praying for you with the house! Maybe this is the ONE! It sounds really nice. When we bought our house it had been on the market for a while with no one interested, but it was perfect for us and fit our budget. I think it was because the yard has a hill going up in the back which leaves just a small useable area. But we like it because it eliminated a back neighbor. Our kids were teens by then and didn't use a back yard.
I love baked potatoes and that is one of the concessions I sometimes make when eating out. Not every time, but once in a while. As long as I eat my protein first I don't usually have a problem.
Moonkissed, I am not offended. I should probably suggest that people follow the directions of their doctor or diabetes educator, and then tweak that information if it doesn't work for you. I just tell people this is what works for me. Everyone is different. Other diabetics tell me that they eat some carbs with every meal and I am just downright jealous! LOL I know my problem is portions. I could probably eat carbs at every meal if I ate a small portion, but I have a tendancy to get carried away, and therefore eliminating them is the key for me. Since I also want to lose weight, low carb helps with that, too.
Trish, I think you might be able to do CAD if you start out by limiting the portion of carb at your reward meal, and then increasing gradually until you reach the point that works for you. Last night I got a fish sandwich at the casino. I really wanted that bun and I did eat a couple bites of it, but then took the sandwich apart and ate the fish with the lettuce and tomato and it was good. When I got home my BS was 97, but that was 7 hours after my meal. LOL
Rennie has deserted us again, along with the others. What did we do to chase them away? LOL

I meant to also say last night that I was proud of myself for finding a low carb option at our dinner location. First time I have ever skipped the bread, potato and ice cream there! My BS was 98 before bed and FBS 109....impprovement! The rest of my family left this morning for an overnight at the beach so I am gloriously by my lonesome today. LOL! I am meeting a friend for a late lunch (at a place I know what to get for LC, yay!) and the rest of the day I will be cleaning and cooking. My house is still a mess from our cousin's visit, laundry is backed up, haven't been on a regular grocery shopping trip, etc. trying to get my house back in order and do some make ahead prep with LC foods.
On the house.....I'm getting all nervous of what if it's not the one and we shouldn't make an offer. I will be honest, it has two shortcomings -storage in pantry and master bedroom closet are both less than what I'd like. The pantry is prob ok because there are more cabinets and drawers than my current home and the laundry room is next to kitchen and there is room for putting in extra shelving there. Master bedroom closet is ridiculously small. It is a big room with a huge bath but a tiny closet, lol! Other than that though, it is great. It has a very large bonus room upstairs with full bath that can be used for Mark's office/guest bedroom/home theater area, it also has a lot of walk in attic space up there. Mark would have the privacy he needs during the day for work and can watch his very loud TV up there at night. There are 3 bedrooms downstairs which fulfills Mark's dream of us mostly living on one level (in case of failing health or mobility issues). We would have our bedroom, Olivia's bedroom and there is a smaller bedroom that would be great for my crafting or I could give her the smaller room and make the larger one a crafting/play room. The master is by the kitchen and stairs to bonus while the other two rooms are on the opposite side of house so there is privacy. And the yard is just simply awesome. Plenty of room for Olivia to play, Mark to fly his planes and me to have a garden. There is already a tree swing! The garage is 2 car but actually has some extra room so it could be consided 2.5 cars. We have a 1 car garage now and do not use it for parking. So, the only drawbacks are the pantry and MBR closet.

Ladies I'm here doing ok up until today. I had a horrible off eating day yesterday and I mean horrible. My stomach was full but I kept thinking of things that I wanted so I ate them. Scale was up today and so was fbs.
Trish and Carol Sue thanks for thinking of me. Trish you're right I do look for you when you're away Carol Sue you don't do anything to chase anyone away. I'm always reading and gaining knowledge here As I always say you all are a boatload of information I thank you
Shannon that house sounds nice. Could you possibly use one of the other closets for you or Mark instead of sharing the one in the master bedroom? or is there a possibility to maybe have one of those closet space creators come in and redo it, just a thought, especially if it's the price and area that you want. Best of luck to you.

Rennie So good to see you today. Hope things are better. I've decided that we just have those days. Not sure why.
Well, my week of experimenting is over. Weight and fbs going up. I refuse to lose total control and have to fight this again. Yes, I'm still going to do IE because I do think I am overeating if I'm eating by the clock or any reason other than hunger. However, I'm back on low carb. I know I can use CAD for a back up when needed, but I do not think that I can make it work any more because it doesn't fit my personality. I do know it can work for some people because I know a woman on the CAD thread on a low carb site that started CAD when I did 11 1/2 yrs ago and she has kept her weight off with it for years. It just doesn't fit me as a daily lifestyle. As my doctor told me, "You should know by now what you can and can't eat. You shouldn't have to test". He is right, I actually know that Atkins is the way I should eat, but I know I can't do that any more. However, I can do modified form of low carb.
The wedding was beautiful. Glad we went because I didn't see many people there from our church. They changed things at the last minute and invited all at the wedding to the reception, but we hadn't planned to go so and had to get meds and get a few groceries. So we didn't go.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
BBL

Trish, I think we keep testing and trying to fit carbs into our diet because we want it to work, but it's not going to change and we just have to face that. I struggle with that, too and probably always will, but as long as I mainly do low carb I'm not going to stress over it. I rarely make or order french fries for myself, but will eat a couple when DH has them. That way I get to eat a couple but not a whole order. I do the same with his baked potato. He will cut off a small piece for me. I'm like a mother finishing their child's food off their plate. LOL
Rennie, I'm glad I provide information for you, but I wish I could practice what I preach a little better. I know what to do, but doing it is a different story.

Well I was down 1.2lbs this week. Slowly but surely getting there. That means I am just 11.2lbs away from Onderland!!
My FBS was high this morning 143 but I ate badly yesterday I wish I could have better control sometimes. I seem to just put my brain on hold. But I am going shopping today and I have a good plan so I think I will do alot better.
Trish I'm sorry your week experiment didn't go well but atleast it seems like you learned some things from it so that is always good.
love2b150
Shannon goodluck with the house! If you don't love it I wouldn't put an offer on it but it sounds really great. Closet/pantry can always be worked around if it has everything else going for it!
Anyone have good low carb snack ideas? Right now I am doing cheese & nuts but I have to be so careful not to overdo the nuts it can be hard lol

Moonkissed, I have recently developed a liking for celery sticks and pepper strips. I prefer red, orange and yellow to green. I never liked them before.
Shannon, I know you and DH have needs for the spare bedroom, but depending on how small it is, you could turn it into a walk-in-closet. My son and dil almost bought a house that was very short on closet space. They hesitated on putting in a bid, and then found the house they ended up buying. So I guess I'm saying if you're not really sure, hold out for something else. My kitchen is very small and short on storage space, but we have a basement and I have shelves and an old kitchen cabinet for extra food etc. What about a laundry room. Some people put shelving in a laundry room for extra storage, and you did say the garage was big....or am I getting the houses mixed up?

I've missed you Rennie! Thank you for helping me out last week. I'm finally back to normal
BS was 98 before bed and FBS was 95...yay me! I also finally lost all the weight I gained from being backed up and am at a new low of 180.2. Not sure if I will still meet my July goal of 173 but at least I'm back to where I was before getting so constipated.
Yesterday I ended up being gone all day. Went to meet a friend for a planned lunch at 1, didn't leave til almost 5 and since it was close to another friend I had not seen in several months I stopped by her house and we hung out a while and went for dinner later. I didn't get home til 10:30. I thought my family was going to be gone til dinnertime tonight but alas, they decided to come back early and will be home in a few minutes....oh well, break is over, lol!
I need to talk to hubby about whether we are making an offer on the house. The utilities and taxes are MUCH higher where we would move, like double on both. I'm not really sure why since it's a small town and we currently live in the state capital. We got copies yesterday of the house's last year of utility bills and the range was crazy $222-574/mth with the avg being around $400. Here, we pay fairly consistently $240/mth. We knew this about the area so it's not like a surprise, I just know it's causing Mark to hem and haw more about going forward. We'll see. Rennie, in regards to the closet, we would probably store his hanging clothes in the closet where his office would be. It was just really surprising to me that it was so small. I think that room runs next to the garage so I don't think we could build it out later but I haven't looked at it closely of course. It's way too small for a closet company to "fix" lol! I swear I think they forgot the closet and had to add it after the room was done, lol!
