Hello everyone! The kiln was unloaded, and stuff glazed and reloaded. After I got it all in and turned on, I realized I had only about four smallish things and one large thing left! Not enough for a full load, or even enough to justify firing again, so I guess I will wait to glaze and fire the pieces that are left and hope I have enough for the show.

My bg was great last night and horrible this morning. It was 114 last night and 181 this morning. Used to be it would be about the same at night as in the morning, but for a while now, it just seems to climb and climb at night.

MEOWEE: No running down the street pushing the stroller! I have had a terrible time with arthritis in my right ankle and pain in my heel, so I tend to limp along .... I keep hoping to hear you got a box in the mail....

SHANE: Congrats on reaching goal! That is awesome! You look awesome too!

THIN: You are doing great! I did not know you could take a vaccine for Montezuma's revenge!

JEANNE: Do you need my address to mail me MY jams? Sounds yummy!

ROSEY: Poor little Daisy! I love it when it snows here (doesn't happen buy maybe once a year!) and watching the cats walk through it! They pick up each paw and shake it off as they walk. They just don't get it!

MONET . . . Your comment about loving Snow reminded me of a very, very long joke I heard once about a couple who moved to Canada from somewhere in the Southern US . . . it went on for pages. Anyway, started out with the excitement of the first snowfall and the thrill of buying a shovel and a snowblower. Next page told about the invigorating workout in the freshly fallen snow while clearing the driveway for the first time . . . and so on , and so on , and so on. Well . . . by about the fourth page, and a foot or two of snow in a couple of weeks --- you guessed it, the house was up for sale and they were heading back home to Atlanta (or wherever). If you think you are limping along now, try pushing that stroller through an inch or so of snow. Take it from those of us who know . . . the thrill of the first snowfall wears off very quickly. BTW . . . No box yet . . . will check again tomorrow. The money came out of my bank account . . . Hope it got to yours.

Which reminds me . . . better make an appointment to get my snowtires on. ROSEY, did the Subaru dealer recommend snow tires for all four wheels? That's my advice, anyway, for anybody with four drive wheels and living in a snow-belt area. That's what I do.

Hi there JEANNE . . .

Hi all,

Thanks for the welcome NightengaleShane, the diabetes doesn't bother me too much but the weight does. I had a look at your photos last night, huge congratulations on hitting your goal, you look amazing!

Meowee, I'm in Scotland, Uk and I don't think Cool Whip is something I've ever seen over here but I'm going to avoid looking for it now incase I develop an addiction too.

I feel like I've had a bad day today, grabbed a sandwich on the go at lunch time and when I checked the fat it had 20g in. Trying to get back on track and get motivated.

I hope you never get it over there . . . but, you've probably got something just as nasty . . . these 'frankenfoods' seem to be taking over the world.

I know! who would have thunk it. It's not approved in the USA yet, so I guess us Canadians are the guinea pigs.

Hi Meech, this is the best advice I can give you - always be prepared and know what you are going to eat. have it ready. As long as I've got my lunch or my dinner planned, I stay on track and do really well... the only time I fall apart is when I'm not prepared and put in a situation like you were... lunch on the go, and you grab the easiest thing, which isn't always the best thing for you.

Tomorrow is another day, try and stay one step ahead of your meals. Good luck

By the way, I love Scotland - I've been over many times and have family there (Inverness, Dunfermline, Glasgow) August 2006 we went to the Tattoo in Edinburgh, it was an amazing night... I'll never forget it!

Thanks ThinGirl, I've taken what you've said on board and been shopping this afternoon with the husband (also chef so prepares all my meals!). Stocked up on a load of fresh veg, some low fat sauces and bits and pieces aswell as dextrose tablets and juice boxes re my hypo thread. I'm going very gently with this at the moment but I think when I get a bit more further on I'm going to have to be more serious with it and either start calorie counting or following a diet plan.

Scotland is a beautiful country, my mum is Scottish but I lived in England most of my life. It's very much home now although the cold rain at the moment is a bit depressing

Hello everyone! I got up at 2:20am and checked my bg last night. It was 128 when I went to bed and 140 at 2:20. When I got up at 7 it was 151. So it appears to just climb all night.

I unloaded the kiln this morning and got a few nice pieces. I found I had forgotten to dip the handle of the creamer in a set in the glaze, so I had to fix that, and so I scrounged around and found enough stuff to fire a kiln load. It is off and cooling already and I hope the stuff looks good. I have a boat load of pots, and I spent several hours taking pictures tonight. Unfortunately, I did not have the settings correct and they all look bad, so I will have to redo it tomorrow. Sigh.

MEOWEE: Yes, I got the money today. I hope your box comes soon. On the snow, I agree with you totally! I grew up in the Chicago area, and the first snow fall was wonderful. Then the next one was fun, the next less fun and finally it got to be dreary and depressing having to shovel and shovel. When I was in 8th grade, we got about 5 feet of snow overnight. Now THAT was awesome! The biggest snowfall I ever saw. The drifts were so high I could walk onto the garage roof! I don't think I would like it now, though. So I am glad to live here in Hotlanta where we get one snow a year, and everything closes when it does snow!

It is bed time here, so I will try and get on tomorrow and say hello. The craft fair is Saturday and I feel so overwhelmed! I sure hope I make some money for all this work!

I'm just beginning to realise what a great place 3FC is. There's soooo much information on here and the goal stories and photos are a real motivator. I've started diets before but my head has never been in the right place for it and I've never felt I've had the support there before particularly with anyone understanding what it's like to be diabetic. I'm fast becoming a 3FC addict (sounds better for me than the dreaded Canadian Cool Whip!). Just wanted to say thanks really, this is my new favourite place.

Hi gang . . .

OMG . . . I am so far behind . . . I'm going to post this little story about why and then I'll go back and catch up on everything I've missed.

I was missing yesterday. Started out having to do a bunch of work for that good old Company I'm retired from; then it was the normal "shop 'til you drop" day with LuLu. When I finally did get home, I just couldn't take my eyes off one of my "purchases" long enough to even think about doing anything else.

Yep . . . I'm back up to six cats again . . . all LuLu's fault; she decided she wanted a second cat (bringing her menagerie to 2 cats and seven dogs). So one of our stops was the local SPCA where she picked out a very sweet black and white kitten, about 4 months old, which she has named Casey and I picked out a very sweet white male with two little grey spots on his forehead (look like parentheses - one by each ear), about 10 months old that I have named BLIZZARD.

Next stop, the Vet where we found out they both have fleas and they got the 'supposed to kill all the critters within half an hour' treatment. Don't know if that flea treatment worked, because he seems to be doing a lot of scratching -- when he isn't terrorizing Purrecious by chasing her around the house . . . hey she needs the exercise.

Just proves once again that the bullies of the world eventually meet their match . . . First there is Mouse who used to terrorize poor little Goldi . . . then along came Purrecious who constantly bullies Mouse . . . and now, Blizzard is taking her to task. Actually Blizzard doesn't seem to like anybody (but me -- he's a cuddler) right now, but he's just trying to find his 'place' in the pecking order so I imagine things will settle down fairly soon. Actually -- both of the kittens (Frick and Frack) and Mouse are in hiding at the moment. I had to go out first thing this morning (for lab work) and I haven't seen any of those three all day -- maybe Blizzard flushed them all down the toilet. I imagine they'll wander out when they get hungry enough. Anyway, will take some pictures of the newest addition as soon as I get a minute.

Back later . . .

Just dropping back for a minute . . .

Glad you like it around here MEECH . . . most of us would be lost without 3FC . . . it definitely helps keep me headed in the great downward direction . . . and it is 100% better for you than COOL WHIP. Although Cool Whip is considered a free food by the American Diabetes Association when consumed at the level of 1 TBSP per serving daily. And, that does mean a level Tbsp. Good luck . . . doesn't work out for me.

Wow MONET, that is really strange, at least in my personal experience. My BGL will only go down over time (without food or some form of major stress) until it hits too low and then it shoots up. This disease really likes to keep us guessing.

Amazing THIN . . . we hardly ever get to be first with new drugs in Canada.

Well, ROSEY . . . I think you have to find that retired guy another hobby to keep him busy and out of your hair.

Anyway . . . my BGL started and finished in the mid sixes (about 115 to 118) yesterday. It is a little better this morning at 5.7 (103). Wonder where it will go from here.

Speaking of new drugs . . . here's an instereting little article about a recently concluded test in Australia in connection with Retinopathy . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...11/07&q1=&cen=

Well, my day is disappearing quickly so I'd better go check up on all these quiet felines and then get something constructive accomplished around the house. Have a great day, everybody . . . keep doing the good stuff just as much as you possibly can . . .

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Eating and BS have been horrible. Been busy getting ready for my last couple craft shows. Plus having trouble with our one kitty. she doesn't want to use the litter box. If she's downstairs fine, she'll use it. But doesn't always want to go downstairs.
