Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. Son got sick, life gets crazy, you all know how it goes. Monet: I'm sorry to hear about your husband. My hubby is in the military and we just got word some idiot high enough up in the government is shutting down his squadron. They had assured him he will be placed in a position up here, but it's really scary not knowing anything for sure. I'll keep your hubby in my prayers and you also. Welcome to all the newbies. So nice to see all the new faces. I need some help with some breakfast ideas. Currently I eat some egg whites with cheese, and then a fruit with that. Sometimes I swap out the fruit with a slice of Orowheat Light bread (low in carbs and calories). The problem is that I don't enjoy a lot of meats, so I'm very limited with what I have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My injections have been going well. My a.m. blood sugars are still up, though. They are right around 140-160. Now, my after meal readings are going down, so that shows that I am controlling it during the day. My guess is that my doc will up my meds when I go back in two weeks. Hopefully everyone is enjoying their weekend. Have a great Sunday! Chach |

Joyce,5 pounds on SBD already is great. Joyce, now thats a lot of kids, grandkids and great grands you got to love you !It does help to have others care and cheer you on so we will be your cheerleaders.:cheer2: :cheer: Susan, nice to meet you.I like that fitday. Chach, could you have oatmeal with fruit? What about a slim fast shake or one of those low carb breakfast bars . The sun is creeping out this morning, but I am not gonna try and drive to sunday school. The roads are a solid sheet of thick ice, with 5 new inches of snow on top of that. |
Hi Everybody . . . wow, a busy Sunday morning around here is unusual but a delight to see. I woke up to another day of whitness this morning . . . the wind is just howling out there and the blowing snow is so violent I can't see the house across the street sometimes . . . the sun is peeking out again which is definitely a nice touch. My BGL was 4.7 (85) this morning so that should shape up to a good day.
ANNIE . . . . . . OMG, that dinner sounds absolutely wonderful. My only word of warning is a concern for the saturated fat . . . but I know you don't eat that way all the time. ;) Isn't this weather getting tiresome? CAITLYN . . . . . . Your weather sounds worse than ours. :( I hate ice. You are wise to stay off the roads . . . where do you live? BTW, I have no experience with the "Chat" feature, but I will check with the other Mods and let you know what I find out. SUSAN . . . . . . Your Fit Day looks pretty good to me. Since a lot of Diabetics are very much impacted by carbs, I might suggest that you cut the bread a bit and up the vegetables. You get a lot more volume (and fibre)for your carb dollars. ;) You might want to have a look at the Food tab in the purple stripe on the 3FC home page. I know it has some Carl Jr's information. It also has a pretty complete listing of calories, etcetera for over 7,000 food items and can definitely help with your calorie math. :D JOYCE . . . . . . so glad you found us. Also glad that the most recent knee surgery is settling down. I'm sure we are all glad about those two things. ;) For me, personally, there is another reason I'm thrilled to have you joining us . . . now there is actually someone here who is older than I am :o . . . even though only by 3 or 4 years. It will be so great to have someone else around who will actually remember some of the references I make to 'the times when dinosaurs still roamed the earth'. :lol3: CHACHEE . . . . . . Oh yeah, I remember those sick-kid times. :^: Certainly hope DS is feeling better soon. I'm a cereal person in the morning, just love my oatmeal with some raisins and cinnamon. BTW, a lot of people find that they experience what I believe is called "Dawn Syndrome". My doctor tells me I'm an anomoly in that I usually have my lowest readings in the morning. For me, a morning fasting reading over 6 (108) usually means I had a hypo event in the middle of the night that didn't wake me up and my liver kicked in some extra glucose to bring things up. You might want to check your BGL about 3 am or so a couple of times (if you happen to be awake to go to the bathroom, or nurse a sick kid, or something) so you get a more complete picture before you talk to your doctor. Time for me to see if I can accomplish anything constructive today. Hopefully I'll get back later to talk to everybody. I have to be at the hospital by 7:45 am tomorrow for a Surgery Pre-Admission Clinic before my Friday D & C. Can hardly wait since the silly GYN's receptionist gave me two conflicting pieces of paper . . . one says I'm staying in the hospital after my surgery and the other says I'm going home the same day . . . hopefully somebody will tell me for sure, tomorrow. :dizzy: Anyway, don't know when I'll be able to check-in here tomorrow. Well gang . . . you all have a great moving and shaking day. If we just keep doing our best we will be rewarded. See you soon. :carrot: |

Happy Monday everybody! (You are all rolling your eyes at me, aren't you? heheh) Yesterday I ate and ate and ate! I hate the constantly hungry days. I have noticed, though, that I tend to get that way when I start my days with a lot of protein. Anybody else find it super important to eat in a specific way? The next few weeks are going to be challenging because I am on a strict budget. Hopefully I will have better luck soon finding work. *sigh* Anyway, that's just more time to exercise, right? right? *crickets*
:D .susan. |
Hi there, gang . . . . . . Hope you all have been having a good day. I spent far too much time at the Pre-Admission Clinic at the hospital, but at least I know that I can plan on coming home on the same day (Friday) after the D&C. Should only be there about 4 hours, all told. Yeah, right . . . I wonder how long it will really be? :^:
OMG it was cold out this morning, especially since it was still dark when I left home, but even when I was coming back and the sun was shining so beautifully . . . once again, it was the wind chill that was the real problem. Actually, I think the temps are probably what the weather department would describe as "seasonal" -- however, we are just not used to seasonal this year. :o Had the down-filled coat on for the first time this year and boy, did I ever wish it had more ducks inside while walking to and from that hospital parking lot. Anyway, glad to hear everybody is doing pretty good today. Keep up the good work, gang, and I'll see you later. :carrot: |
Happy Monday ya'll!!
today has been a crazy day.... started off with a surprise on the scale... a good one!!! I'm down 7.5 pounds this week!!!:carrot: The only thing I can figure is that I've been retaining some water and it seems to be gone now- after my Hida scan on Thursday, I seemed to be in the bathroom more- it's like my body was flushing out the poison they put in me for the test (it's a nuclear test).... ahh.... i was surprised with the scale! Chachee- I'm on Byetta and have found that I have to have something with protein in the morning or I'll be sick- I usually am eating on the run to work- common things for me are toast with pnut butter or cheese, cream cheese on a bagel, milk works for the protein too... or yogurt... so sometimes I have one of those and some dry cereal... the weekends give me more time to cook- but then it's usually scrambled eggs or something... meowee- when I've had D&C's in the past, I was usually out withing 4 or so hours.... monet- sorry to hear about your husband. rosey- don't ya just love sleeping in somedays?? Glad to see all the posts!!! have a great day! Reba |
 good luck meowee. hello to all the new people.
glen :) |
Howdy:D
The ice is still on the roads but I am venturing out ,on account you can't keep me locked up for long. SusanFood in the morning makes me hungry also, so I eat a boiled egg or broth and skip anythang heavier until about 4 pm. MonetThinking of you and hoping you are doing ok. I will check in later. I might just go do some doughnuts and spin my tires.:yikes: :belly: |
Hello to all! I weighed this morning...and was pleased to find a two pound loss! I will take it! I am being more careful about how I use the Byetta, and I know that helps. I was not waiting long enough after shooting. It just seems to work better if I wait at least 30 minutes.
Same old same old here. My husband has an appointment with a consultant his company hired to help those who were laid off get going on finding jobs. It will be interesting to hear what the consultant says about job prospects. He is a JAVA programmer, so the job market should be good. Take care all! |
GLEN . . . . . . Hi Guy. We miss our rooster when he goes missing.
MONET . . . . . . Congratulations on the loss, chickie and so glad to see your humour is hanging together. Good that your husband's company is doing something to help out with the job hunting. CAITLYN . . . . . . You be careful out there, girl. Don't want to see you getting in trouble with either the ice or the doughnuts. REBA . . . . . . Wow that is one terrific loss, whatever the reason. Enjoy it. Well, I finally had a little meltdown . . . likely related to the stress of the upcoming surgery, even though it is only a minor procedure. I hate a whole litre (quart) of NSA frozen yogurt last night. The taste was worth every calorie (about 650) . . . the gas pains from the Maltitol that kept waking me up all night were not. But, but, but . . . my BGL was only 5.1 (92) this morning. I shudder to think what it might have been if that had been regular (with sugar) yogurt. Another great little rationalization routine, if I do say so myself. :o Anyway, today has been much better and should stay that was since I don't have anything alwful in the house to get into. :D It was nice and sunny today and the wind finally died down to a dull roar. Supposed to be milder (only around the freezing mark) and sunny again tomorrow. :beach: Have a great moving and shaking time tonight, all. Keep doing the good stuff just as much as you possibly can. See you soon. :carrot: |
Hey everyone.. am sitting waiting for my dh to get home to see if he is to have more back surgury:?: i dont handle stress well either and soothed my nerves with a chocolate chip muffin warmed in the microwave and then put lo sugar vanilla ice cream on top and then chocolate syrup.. yikes.. do i feel any better; nope; was it yummy; you bet.. did i check my sl levels nope didnt want to know so meowee that was a good choice..mine was realllllllly baddddddddddd..but we all do things like that and the trick is to recognize it and go on to what we know we are suppose to do from there..by the way meowee good luck with your procedure( ) ive had it done too..hello to everyone else ..((((((((hugs))))))))) rosey  ( that was the last muffin thank goodness :^: )
