Hi everyone,

CHACHEE: Does byetta come in pen form? These are easier for some people than a vial and syringe because you just set the pen, hold it to your body and push a release button. You don't "see" the needle. I'm surprised the Dr. didn't put you on insulin with an A1C of 14, but what do I know?

MEOWEE: What is your mother's name? I haven't come up with the right names yet, although I have a list going. BTW, I want to know the gender as soon as I can, so I can name it and quit referring to it as "Little Buddy".

Good Morning . . . although it's already 11:30 here . . . :dizzy: After my two naps yesterday, I didn't get to sleep until after 2 am last night/this morning and then, naturally, I managed to sleep in until after 9 am. So looks like another weird day coming up. I will not nap. I will not nap. I will not nap. I hope. :^:

CHACHEE . . . . . . So glad you like your Endo; that usually means you will do well. Both the metformin and the byetta are going to work great for you, I'm sure. They are pretty much the only meds that do not add weight. I inject insulin twice a day and I am also very needle phobic . . . believe me you get used to anything when you have to . . . I use a pen for my insulin and the needle on those is much less scarey. Actually the injections hurt less than the finger stab to test BGL. You will do fine. :D

MISA . . . . . . I don't know for sure (we don't have it here in Canada) but I think Byetta is available only in pen form. BTW, my Mother's name was Madelaine. Definitely not a good choice for a boy. ;) How long before you'll be able to know the gender?

Have a great moving and shaking day, everybody . . . see you later. :carrot:

Misa: It is in pen form. I know it will be easier than the traditional syringe, but it's still my fear I need to overcome. Oh, and as far as finding out the sex of your baby, my ultrasounds (done by two different technicians) showed I was having a little girl. Turned out to be a little boy. It's only the second time my doc was ever wrong! So, go with your instincts, because mine told me it was going to be a little boy. :o)

Tomorrow morning will start the byetta. Hopefully I won't get too sick to start with. I'm hoping that it will be just fine and I won't have any issues at all.

Anyway, have a great day everyone.

Hey everyone! I am back from the studio. We had a good productive time. We tested two new glazes and were excited with the results. We now have a dark blue and a beautiful emerald green to add to our palette. We had a few disasters...a pot I needed for a comission came out cracked. I am getting used to disasters I am sorry to say! :)

CHACHEE: I take Byetta. I am not crazy about needles, but it has been very easy to use the pen. I lost 6 pounds the first week I was on it, then a few more pounds until I had lost about 12. Then the weight loss stopped, and now it has crept back up again. I am pretty bummed about that. I still feel ill a lot from it. It does an admirable job of keeping my bg levels good even if it doesn't work in the weight loss area for me.

MISA: Good to see you! I am glad things are looking good for you. Will you deliver at Northside? They have a fabulous labor and delivery department. My daughter went there and thought it was great.

JEANNE: I hope you are staying warm! I too wonder about Viki. I checked her web page, and it has not been updated since December 12. I will check and see if I can email her.

GLEN: Howdy! I hope you are getting the bgs back in control!

ROSEY: Men can be so oblivious! Good idea to carry stuff, and store stuff in the car so you don't suffer lows. Stay warm!

REBAR: Good to see you!

MEOWEE: How did you do on the naps? Insomnia causes a rise in bg? Hmm, that perhaps explains something for me. Mine was not bad this morning, but I suspect it will not be too good tomorrow. I have had a lot of aches and pains today, and slept poorly last night. It sure would be great to figure out a pattern....

meowee 01-12-2007 09:23 PM

Yippee . . . I think I've finally got the estradiol out of my system . . . I actually stayed awake all day today (well, all day after my rather late start.) What a feeling of power. :D

The GYN called today (actually his receptionist called - don't think he wanted to answer any questions over the phone). I have an appointment to see him on Monday afternoon. Since it usually takes weeks to get an appointment, I don't imagine this is going to be great news, but at least I won't have to wait too long to find out for sure what is going on. I hope he doesn't want me to go back on the estradiol regardless of what else he has to say.

MONET . . . . . . Glad you had a fun day. I know what you mean about figuring out a pattern. Trust me . . . over the years you learn more, but I don't think you ever really get it figured out. As soon as you think you've got a good handle on things; they change again. :?: Having said that, of course, I think I know what was going on with my BGLs today --- 5.7 (103) this morning because of late start to the day; 7.0 (126) before lunch, about 1/2 hour after hearing from GYN; 5.2 (94) at dinner time, after I'd calmed down again. But I wouldn't bet any money on that rationale. Just making some semi-educated guesses. :)

Anyway, everybody, I hope you have a really great evening. I'm off to bed. Afterall, I'm not used to being up for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time. :o Keep things moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you all tomorrow. :carrot:

Good morning y'all,

I can't believe i'm already up this morning... I did some housework for a while and then was wide awake and i read for a while and then it was almost 2am!

this morning, I want to finish the housework- bathroom and bedroom and then I need to prepare dinner for my sister's birthday later the day...

I did get all the Christmas stuff in the attic with the help of a friend... took us 40 minutes or so... and boy was it a workout- I was sweating and my heart rate was up....

Meowee- I'll be sure to check out the new sticky... Don't ya just love waiting to hear from the doctors...

Monet- glad to hear you had fun with the pottery. I've never tried that. I do some crafts and painting- watercolor, mailboxes, some glass stuff.... I've even done some pastels. My best friend is an artist and I help her with art shows etc... I've taken some classes with her when she has them...and then I do get private lessons whenever I want them... she does chalk talks at church and stuff and we work with the creative arts team... i've actually done some work in a worship service- talk about a leap of faith!

Chachee- I'm on Byetta too.... did your doctor start you on the 5mg dose? My doctor started me on the 10 and I had a few rough days... I've been on it over a year now... it's been great with my blood sugars, and I've lost some weight.... for me, the needle with the pen doesn't usually hurt- the lancet to check my bs hurts more... I did have to learn/still learning, that some foods don't sit well with me....lettuce for one... I can have everything on the salad, but not the lettuce... and I have to eat protein in the morning. I used to eat some toast or dry cereal and/or fruit- now I have to add a little peanut butter or cheese to that toast or something with protein or I will be nauseous and sick... learning things like that help...

Misa- what's wrong with little Buddy?? i work in a first grade class room and know the names of the kids and still refer to them at timesas Buddy, sweet pea, etc... :hyper: Congrats!

Well, time for me to run and finish that housework!

Reba

Just want to wish a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MISA.
Have a great day, Momma-Chickie.

Glad you popped in here, REBA . . . It was beginning to look like I was talking to myself . . . :dizzy: . . . something I do with regularity, of course. :o I have an appointment with the GYN for Monday afternoon. Since he had told me that 'no news was good news' before . . . this probably means it isn't. :( But we will cross the bridges as we come to them.

Chachee1028 01-14-2007 07:29 PM

Hi ladies!

Just wanted to check in really quickly. Busy weekend, just like everyone else.

I started the byetta injections yesterday. Just a slight headache and some fatigue. I think my stomach only bothers me because I am such a wussy with needles. It's getting a little better, but stings a little.

I better go for now. Going to track my food.

hi everyone, i have been here awhile now but there is so much to read and do i haven't posted too many times and forget where i have, ha, my name is liz and i sighned up on the getting to know you page.
i am very happy with myself. this last week i was watching my food, following ww points, i have all the stuff but don't go to meetings, too expensive for me. I really was good all week, yesterday i ate a little too much pasta and pudding but i still lost according to my scale.:carrot: my sugar is still out of whack but i am being better testing, sometimes i didn't test for weeks, well 4yrs of type 2 and i am almost where i was when first diagnosed, i take glucophage, 850 mil. 2 in morn and 1 in eve. the dr will probably put me on a new one soon but i hope to keep going on this diet.

my granddaughter, jordan who is 12 was here overnight sat, so sun. we looked at pictures all morning, she loves to do that, i realized that all her life i have been fat, i look at those pics and it makes me so mad  and i want to cry, how could i let myself get so big and deny her a grandma that could do more with her, i feel so sad.

Hi gang . . .

Afraid I am in a rather non-talkative mood today . . . just got back from my follow-up appointment with the GYN and I'm a little bummed out. :( He doesn't think there is anything really awful going on, but based on the ultra-sound from last Monday, he's decided I need to have a D & C and its scheduled for a week from Friday. In other words, we are still kind of doing exploratory stuff. I had a D & C about 30-odd years ago . . . maybe this is supposed to make feel young again? It doesn't.

Our weather has taken a decided turn for awful . . . went from OK (but dull) to absolutely horrendous in the half hour I was in the doctor's office. It's supposed to give us about 8" of combined snow/freezing rain overnight and then continue snowing for most of tomorrow morning as well. Right now, though, everything seems to have stopped again so maybe we will get lucky. :^:

Anyway, you all keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. :carrot: Mr. Carrot is feeling a lot more lively than I am right now, but hopefully I'll be in better humour tomorrow . . . see you soon.
