Hello ladies!
Meowee: Good luck on your upcoming procedure. I've never had that done, but have heard it can be stressful. I'll keep you in my prayers. Thanks to everyone with their breakfast ideas. Here is the problem for me: My doc says no more than 50 grams of carbs per meal. I checked out the oatmeal label and see that 1/2 cup is right around 30. I like the original without anything on it. And if I only did 1/2 cup, I would definitely need something else with it, and fruit would probably put me over the limit. I'll keep working on it, and thank you again for all your suggestions. I was home with my son today. He was running a 102 degree fever this morning. So, I finished up a baby quilt, made a hat and did a little cross-stitch. I also cooked a great dinner--blackened cornish game hens, mixed veggies with edamame. I slightly blew it today, and this is the first day that happened. I had some cereal and then a sugar free ice cream treat. I probably shouldn't have, but compared to what I used to eat, it was a healthy "blowing it". I'll do better tomorrow. I'm bad when I am home and bored. Well, I better scoot and take care of my buddy. Have a great day everyone! Chachee |
catlyn i hope that wasn't ment spinning your tires to go get doughnuts to eat.
 wtg to all the weight loses :) glen |
Good Morning, gang . . .
ROSEY . . . . . . Wow, your meltdown sounds absolutely delicious, but I fear you are right that it had a higher impact on your BGL than mine did. Oh well, we'll both get back on track and keep looking forward and downward. ;) CHACHEE . . . . . . Have you had an appointment with a dietician or diabetes education specialist yet? IMHO . . . (a) I think your doctor probably means NET CARBS (Carbs less Fibre) which is what the CDA and ADA guidelines indicate, and (b) I also think the 1/2 cup on the rolled oats package means dry measure. My bag says . . . 1/2 cup (dry) has 27 grams carb, and 4 grams fibre for a Net of 23 grams; leaving lots of room for some fruit. When you cook that 1/2 cup with 1 cup of water it doubles in bulk and, with or without the fruit, I find it pretty filling and we are about the same weight. GLEN . . . . . . You are probably right about what Caitlyn meant by doughnuts. :D Naturally, my fat little self automatically thought of the kind you eat. :o Well, this was my WWI morning . . . and two of those three pounds I was raving about being gone last week are now back again. BOO . . . HISS  Oh well, it's probably a lot of WWW and will soon go again, I hope. My average calories for the week were about 200 per day over the week before, but even at a total of 1400 too many, that does not equate to a 2 pound gain. The human body is such a fun thing to deal with. :o Hey, nowhere to go but down. ;) Have a great moving and shaking day, gang. Keep doing as much of the good stuff as you possibly can and the rewards will surely follow. See you soon. :carrot: |
Just checking in. The weather is still gray and kind of rainy looking. I would much rather have snow than this gray stuff. At least it can look pretty! I feel really sick this morning from my Byetta. I forgot to take my morning bg ...duh!
Not much is happening around here. Tom is working on updating his resume, I spent some time this morning playing with the grandbaby. I need to go to the store. Have a great day everyone! |

Monetlet me send you a lil sunshine:flow1: :sunny: I like it all sunny and cheerful too. Do you got a good book to curl up with? Hey I know! Rent that new movie about those men that go out and rescue folks in the ocean. I watched it last night and it was the best movie!
Glen and meowee........I meant the doughnuts you do, when you spin your car around on the ice and let the wheels spin. he he I don't eat sugar as it makes my eyes blurry. cachee....hoping your lil one is over that virus real soon. What kind of baby quilt are you making? I need to make a baby gift for a baby shower next month. I keep my carbs at 25 per day. It sure puts a damper on a gals pig outs. :fr: rosey...I would be nervous if my husband might have to have back surgery  Has he ever tried wearing one of those waist thingies on his waist? It's like a big velcro belt. I weigh about once a month now. I go by how my clothes fit more than anythang. I have lost over 100 and want to loose 100 more. I hope 2007 finds me at goal. But I figure if it don't ,then life is like a box of chocolates, cause not one of us knows exatly what we are gonna get. Hi gang . . .
Sorry but I'm afraid I only have time for a quick HELLO, too. Been on the run all day and things will remain fairly hectic this evening as well. Then I have to get to bed early so I can be up long before the crack of dawn to get to the hospital for 6:30 am - talk about a ridiculous hour for surgery - oh well, hopefully that means I'll get home again early, too. And of course, the weather is absolutely beautifully calm and sunny today; and of course, the weather is forecast to be beautifully calm and sunny on Saturday. Tomorrow . . . windy and 4 to 6 inches of snow . . . doesn't it just figure. Don't imagine I'll be on-line tomorrow and maybe not for the weekend either, but I will be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, everybody, just keep on moving and shaking :carrot: |
Hey y'all,
It's Thursday... one more day and the weekend is here... how was your day? We had sunshine here... nip in the air but the sun out- that was a blessing. When we mentioned being able to go outside for recess, the kids cheered... we haven't been out all week with the rain. Kelli, the teacher I work with was out today. She's had a sick child and been sick herself this week... when it comes to subs, I end up teaching the class and the sub works with Madison... it's easier because I know the routine, how things are done etc... Madison cried at first this morning... but she settled down to normal! This evening, Theresa stopped by when she got off work and we went for a walk before she headed home... my tummy is not happy at all with me right now... I sure am ready to find out what's going on...according to the nurse, my HIDA scan was normal from last week... and I sure figured I had gallstones from my system... It's Thankful Thursday: I'm thankful for: the Son the sunshine laughter of kids hugs from kids friends family each of you What are you thankful for? |

Hi Rosey, Thanks for the info. 75mg of carbs is pretty low .......I think about what most people on Atkins would consider a maintainance level.......probably a lot lower than most people. My son is moving to Anchorage March 5th so we will probably be there to visit someday. He works for the Army Corps of Engineers. We have 10 kids and they are getting farther away. I don't like flying but it has become a must in this family. ha! I would like to learn more about the diet of people with diabetes. My mom who was thin was sure I would get it someday. I am 57 and don't have it yet but would like to avoid it if possible.
