Wow, gang . . . . . . I am having one of the weirdest days I can remember in a very long time . . . partly weather . . . partly me . . .
Woke up at 5 am with a nasty hypo of 3.1 (under 56) . . . and to think I had been worried that I would oversleep and be late for my ultra-sound (oh, such fun, that was, ). Anyway, as I'm making my way to and from the hospital on another very mild but dull morning, the radio is nattering about how it is going to get even milder as the day progresses. Stopped and picked up a new Rx and got home and took the first dose and then decided I needed a nap about 10 am. Wake up again a couple of hours later and we are in the middle of a blizzard and there's about 2 inches of snow already on the ground. It's like a whole different day out there. Thought I must have pulled off some kind of RipVanWinkle routine. Still couldn't stay awake for long (that's why I mentioned the new med; some kind of reaction, maybe?) and it is now going on 6 pm and I've had two naps today and . . . looking outside now, it is like the whole blizzard thing never happened. :?: Except for the fact that the radio confirms that it really did happen and that the roads tonight are in extremely treacherous condition as a result of the earlier 'freak' storm. Really, really, weird . . . Hope both the weather and I do a bit better tomorrow. :dizzy: Hi JEANNE . . . . . . glad to hear you got something for the tooth. I hate that kind of pain . . . it is so hard to ignore. You'll probably have fun to night, in spite of yourself . . . at least I hope so. :^: Hi ROSEY . . . . . . keep warm, ice princess . . . from the sounds of things, your Alaskan frogs need fur coats to make up for the hair that is freezing off them. :D Hi ANNIE . . . . . . was the weather equally weird in your part of the province or are we hogging all the strange stuff over here on the mainland? Well, I'm going to head downstairs and see if I can salvage anything of what I originally had planned for today. Tomorrow is another day, thank goodness, because about the best I can say for today is that at least it is hard to overeat when you spend most of the time asleep :D Have a great evening, gang. Keep things moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. :carrot: See you all tomorrow . . . I think that's going to be Tuesday . . . I think. :^: |
Hi there everyone..yes It was freaky here today also ..I think from the Island Iam only a couple of hours from you ? worked some of the fat of my butt..was going to say that I worked my butt off butthen again that would be only wishful thinking:D anyway cleaned all my floors up stairs ..if you seen my house you would know why iam tired :( but I told myself that its all a good thing for exercise .. walked down to get mail ..again you need to see my drive way to believe it... 3 hours sleep last night and the day before also ... then I read an artical saying that green tea is excellent for you , but can cause insomnia in some people:stress: anyway since i had 3 cups yesterday I might be awake all night :D ..
need to get more water in me and fllush my system ... BG was 6.0 whooooooooohooooooooooo:cheer2: by the way .. did the read up on the Q10 I was so impressed that I will check with doc Charlie of course and then go buy me a big bottle:carrot: :carrot: Annie |
I need help please?
hi all, it has been a wierd winter here in ne pa. i am liz and i am 51 and weigh 278, i have been diabetic for 4yrs now, still not under control. i also am depressed, take meds and go for counseling. I just don't know where to start, i know i need to lose lots but it is so much and my energy is gone. i am married and have 2 grown sons with spouses, youngest has 2 girls, 12 & 8, they are the apple of my eye, i love being grandma, my oldest son and his wife are expecting their first child, a girl in may, i really would like to get some of this weight off.
i am looking for a friend for support, i am disabled with a bad back and am home all the time, i like all kinds of crafts, reading, puzzles, pets, kids and everything that makes me smile. i have 3 dogs and 5 parrots [not all big ones] guess you could say i feathered and furred my empty nest. ha i would be a good buddy as i have a great ear and broad shoulders. i know it will be hard to lose with all that is against me but i feel like i have to do it now or never and i really want to. have a great day hugs liz  |
Hi to everyone! Thought I would jump in here. I posted on another thread but thought I would jump in here since it's the monthly chat.
This morning was my full physical and fasting blood work. I need to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to make my appointment with the endo doctor to get that started. I know I can do this, just need to focus. I've been surprised how many people are battling this same issue. I never would have thought, even with the gestational diabetes, that I would end up being diabetic. I also wanted to say hello to AKRosey. I am also in Alaska and agree--it's wayyy too cold here right now. I know we've got a lot of snow, but I'd much rather run my snow blower instead of running indoors because of the cold air. Brrr!!! Thanks for letting me join your group! |
Hi Liz,
Our posts crossed, so I wanted to also say hello to you. Sounds like you have a lot of the same interests as I do. I love to do crafts and have two doggies. It's always nice to make new friends, especially with the same issues! |

Hi, all. This thread is busy. :welcome: to the newbies. This is a good place to post. We're all struggling with the same thing. I'm single, 60, and live in a small city apartment. Work fulltime. Have had Type 2 for over 10 years.
Haven't been able to slow down the holiday eat-a-rama. Last weekend happened to be in the neighborhood of Trader Joe's and bought up some bad stuff. Just got a call from the weight loss doc's office. I have to go in tonight instead of Thursday for the exam and weigh-in. I'm really not psyched up to face the music yet. :p  to all. |
ROSEY: Just out of curiousity, I went to Google and mapped Nikiski. Wow..you are way up there! :) It looks rather sparsely populated, too. Keep warm! I bet it is really beautiful around there, even in the winter! I hope some day we can get up there and see it.

LIZ: Welcome to the board! We are all in the same boat here...and happy to have new friends to help supoort, to learn from and to encourage. I am 53, and was diagnosed with Type 2 about nine months ago. To add insult to injury, I went in for the lab work on my birthday. :( Please jump right in, tell us about yourself, share what your needs are and how we can help you. Are you following any particular plan? I have been doing Sugarbusters for a while now. The past month I have been kind of bad though...I really need to get back on track. What kind of crafts do you like? I am a potter. I like working on the wheel, but get a hankering for handbuilding now and then... I also knit, but not well! I have a degree in art education, so I dabble in all kinds of crafts and arts. For many years I taught, and did cake decorating. I try not to do that TOO much now, as I have so little will power!
CHACHEE: A warm welcome to you too! Another crafter! I love arts and crafts too! (see what I wrote to Liz above!) Another Alaskan! Wow! Where are you in Alaska? I grew up in the Chicago area, where it was MUCH colder than here in Atlanta, but gosh, -27 is just MIND boggling! Not to mention horrific sounding! Do you have to be careful about going out in the cold? Like keeping your face covered to keep from getting frostbite? It would be grand if you could post some pictures of what it looks like ... I would so love to see! |
