I hope everyones Sunday is going well. Yesterday my eating was off, but my calorie count was still within range. I walked 90 minutes yesterday. Todays menu: What I wrote for yesterday.

Jasmine: how do you make your fruit smoothies???

PellMel 10-08-2006 03:43 PM

This a.m. weight @ 151; down 2lbs. from last week. Not going to confess to my actual eating habits as too strange for me to comprehend at present; though will say I stay between 1200 and 1500 each day. I do what exercise makes me feel comfortable with each days' calorie intake, sometimes giving massage is enough. TTFN.

Hi Chris! I know it is hard to give some foods up. I was so bad about still overeating for a while which is why I only lost 50 in like a year. I could of lost double if I had been stricter but thats ok, I am slowly making lifestyle changes and not just "dieting" . One of my biggies was cutting the potatos doown to 1-2 times a week. I feel like I am alot more in contriol than I was before. You can do it with the wine! It just takes some perseverance!

Congrats on the 3 Fiona!! Good job Sznn!! Hi Mookie welcome! Make sure to weigh in today so next week you will know what to go by! Great job pelmel!!!

Hey jcatron243. I do it a few different ways. It depends on what type of fruit you like. My hubby is a smoker and I have read that pert of the reason smokers have health trouble is because it depetes their vitamin a. Grapefruit( and carrots) are supposed to help that. My typical day lately, grapefruit can be substituted for pineapple or anything else you like. Sometimes we also throw in blueberrys or strawberrys. Just experiment and see what you like. :D

1/2 a grapefruit
1 orange
1 apple
1 banana

That is just for me, i double it when he is joining me. It taste great! I have also been reading in different places that your body needs to detox in the a.m. and to drink only water and eat fruit til noon. I have also read that if you eat fruit with other foods sometimes the fruit can spoil in yourt tummy. Not sure how true it is but it sounds good to me. It is a great , light way to start my day and when i do that, which is most days, I am able to stick with my good eating plans. It also takes up a small portion of cals so you have more to splurge on for lunch and dinner and snacks. :D

I am also down 3 pounds today so i am really happy about that! Especially since it said I was up yesterday after my food binging the day before BUT I also got my period! SO I don't care. Anyhow the scale is at 226 today. hooray! It was 229 a week ago. :D

I am also really happy to because a month ago I was 235 on September 9 and the previous month I had only lost a pound cause I had been so bad with my eating and exercised less in August. But I had decided to start really focusing on portions and not eating out twice a week with pizza and getting my walking back up etc.

Anyhow I told my self that I had 1 month til my hubbys vacation and that I wanted to lose 10 pounds by then, his vacation starts tomorrow! So I am almost there! If I hit 225 tomorrow I will have done it! If I don't then I am only 1 pound off. either way that goal gave me the determination to kick my butt and get in gear!

Okay yesterday I did really good with my eating.I had my smoothie for breakfast and a slimfast and a bagel w/ ff cream cheese plus a cup of coffee for lunch. I had a serving of total cereal for a snack and a yogurt and for dinner we had chicken rice and veggies with some bbq sauce. I did have some p[opcorn too in the evening, wound up at 1785 for cals, protein was 24%, carbs was 54%, fats were 22% or my daily, not bad! No walk though.

dollypie 10-09-2006 12:16 PM

So I am down two pounds from last week (168 to 166). Jasmine I had a pizza binge last night too. I was doing good all day long and then some friends came over and brought pizza. I had three pieces and dipped them all in ranch dressing. Then when they left I ate another piece before I went to bed. And yes then I had indigestion some last night. I knew I would, but the pizza was there. Next time I am going to make sure they take it home with them. I didn't discourage me from making it to the gym this morning, I was ready to go. Had a good workout on the elliptical and did some weights.

Question: Since I way overdid my calories yesterday, do you think I should restrict them more today to compensate?

So I bought the trick or treat candy yesterday at the grocery store. When I go home I buried it in the pantry. Out of sight, out of mind. But it's there for when the kiddos start coming around.

Jasmine31 10-09-2006 12:24 PM

Hi dolly! Well i don't think you should necessarily restrict yourself. If you don't eat enough, you wont lose either! Have you seen the link I found to the womens nutrition calculator? I LOVE it! Make sure you have a "lighter" day today though. Great news on the weight loss, you can do it! What I usually do is eat out once a week so make sure you leave oppurtunity for that. i also found a link online for the pizza so I was able to put it into fit day. Are you using fitday too?

My "maintenance" with exercising 60 minutes a day is 2865.2. I try to keep it to 1600 to 1800 most days so that is a daily deficit of at least 1000 cals a day. So times 7 days a week = 2 pounds! I just looked at my average over the last week, I had one bad day(2000 cals) and one really bad day!(2400 cals) but it still averaged out to 1850 a day. That is a deficit of 7105 cals for the week! Look at this link and that will tell ya what you need to do calorie wise.

jcatron243 10-09-2006 12:50 PM

Dolly I calorie cycle myself. This way I can have a higher calorie day and not feel guilty about it. I have two 1200 calorie days two 1400 calorie days one 1500 calorie day one 1600 calorie day and one 1700 calorie day. That gives me an average of about 1430 per day. I am not losing quick, infact at the moment I am stuck, but I heard it takes a month to start losing when you are calorie cycling. (I hope that is true) I been doing it for almost a month now.

Planning for today:
Protein shake and coffee
snack apple
lunch: lean Cusine spinich and mushroom pizza and Apple
snack: banana
Dinner: 1 half chicken breast, 1 cup broccoli, 1 cup brown rice
Snack: 1 cup popcorn or 1 cup of carrots

20 min stationary bike/ 20 minute pilates /20 minutes weights

Neesy_20 10-09-2006 02:09 PM

Last monday I weighed in at 233 and I weighed myself on friday and I weighed 229. I weighed in today at 229.. so no loss over the weekend.. which is disappointing for me. But oh well, 4 pounds in a week is good enough. I need to quit getting on the scale every day. I keep thinking about giving up or cheating but then I'd just be cheating myself. How is everyone else losing weight? Are all of you just calorie counting/exercising?

FionaMSC 10-09-2006 02:10 PM

Congrats on everyones weight losses!

The working out the average day of calories looks like a good idea to me! Some days I only have about 1200, then another I might have 1800, but feel guilty for it, but like you say, if you average it out, it's 1500, which is what I should be on at the moment. I'll look into doing that more!

Not a bad day today. Usual breakfast and lunch, with snacks of a fruit salad I made up to take to work, with melon, grapes, raspberries and kiwi. Dinner I had bangers and mash! Do you call it bangers and mash in the States?! ITs just sausages and mash, and I did an onion gravy. The sausages were a lower fat variety and I used spray oil to fry them with. It was YUMMY!

No gym today, but the dog got a nice long walk, and I walked instead of the getting the bus from work.

Jasmine31 10-09-2006 04:39 PM

Hi everyone! Hi neesy! Yes I am cal counting and I walk about 60 minutes a day, 3mph. That is great on the losses everyone!

SarahMahfoud 10-09-2006 05:30 PM

Well I said goodbye to my diet last week and totally pigged out while visiting my dad and sister. I was going to weight watchers but I find the meetings boring so dh is bringing me home a scale tonight. Gonna just make a new weight tracker if Ive gained cause I dont it to show a gain lol. I just wanna start fresh. A new day, week. Im back counting my points and I finished my excersize for the day. Its amazing how my jeans went from way lose to way tight in just a week. But Im Back!

dollypie 10-09-2006 05:31 PM

Thanks for the advice girls. I won't beat myself up about it and just try to keep my calories around 1500 today. I am trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet.

Jasmine thanks for the website it was very informative

jcatron I might try cycling my calories each days, that may make it to were I don't feel like I am depriving myself all the time.

Neesy 4lbs in on week is great, I would not try and do more than that!

PellMel 10-09-2006 06:23 PM

Remember, everyone, that weight loss should generally not exceed 2 lbs. per week. Starting a new specific routine usually causes dramatic losses in the first couple weeks, but after that you should level off. It's frustrating, yes, but slower weight loss is much healthier and you have a better chance of maintaining the loss.

FionaMSC 10-11-2006 01:13 AM

Welcome back to the diet Sarah! Hope its going well - I know how difficult it is when family are feeding you up!

I managed to get only half an hour cardio vascular in at the gym last night, but every bit helps, right? I have a 15 minute brisk walk there and back from home so theres a bit more!

I had my usual breakfast and lunch, then made a spanish omlette for dinner - delish! I even managed to get a low fat tiramisu in as my snack! :D

jcatron243 10-11-2006 02:04 AM

Dolly: I never feel deprived. It is really a nice way to diet, I do have to say that I am not losing as fast as I did in the beginning, but I guess that is true of all diets no matter what type you are on.

today (Tues) I got a special suprise, my sister showed up with her two babies (18 mo and 3 mo) and we went for a walk, then a shopping trip. I didn't get pilates or strenght training in but I did get a walk in the morining and then a walk/jog tonight.
Menu for Tues:
16 oz sugarfree fat free carmel latte
chicken ceasar salad (3 Tbs of dressing)
half protien shake and banana
packaged south beach diet turkey and bacon wrap, 1 oz baked tostitos
apple

Hi, guys! thanks for the birthday wishes. -- sorry so late
I need to get on more frequently than I do, everything just seems to be so crazy in the evenings. I am at work right now and at a point when I can jump on and read the thread. You are all so motivating. I need to get back on track with my eating. I have been working out every night but my calories have been around 1500 - 1600. I need to stop that.
Congratulations to all of you who lost weight!!! - great job!
SarahMahfoud - I'm with you! My sister and her kids came to visit this weekend and the food and wine flowed -- I am trying to get back into the swing of things.
Good luck everyone!
