Good morning ladies!!! Happy Monday to you all! I hope everyone had a spectacular weekend!!!
LovelyLeah ~ good to know! Perhaps I'll just stick to my HRM, it seems to be doing the job. :) Stupid TOM and his water weight. I gain every single month right before he shows up. Grrr. Noggs ~ Doctor's scales are evil! No matter how precise mine is, their's is always saying I'm heavier! I try to make it a point to avoid the doctor's office at all costs for that very reason. ;) VickieLou ~ I love your can do attitude!! :) Delphi ~ Awesome job staying on track! I agree, any kind of eating program that is difficult now, will be impossible to maintain. I know you can get the weight off and keep it off for good--I know it! I immediately fell off the wagon after getting to my lowest weight. I didn't know how to maintain. It is definitely a different kind of challenge. Aw, friends turned romantic, how sweet! Hubs and I were the same way. Glad I could give you a chuckle, I remember it being such a hot topic back in the day. ;) LOL Homeschooling here is pretty lax...which for me, is not so great. I am really cranking it up big time this year so as to catch up and get the kids up to speed. On the positive side, they have more friends (real quality friends) now than they have ever had and my middle ds, he is happier than he's ever been which was not the case before. So, it's good. :) lovemylife ~ You are so right, Saturday and Sunday are just like any other day!! Awesome job on the loss!! I used to love gardening...not so much now, I just don't like weeding. LOL If I could find a way to not have to weed, I'd be good! ;) JacquiD ~ I hope your RA is better today! We're driving. The kids and I take a trip out there every year (if possible) to visit family and this year my sister is getting married so it's extra special. Hubs will fly out later and then drive back with us. berryblondeboys ~ woo hoo on the whoosh!!! dangerouscurves ~ it's great when you find something that works for you, congrats!! Gordongirl ~ woo hoo on no gain!!! Here's to those 170s sticking...at least until you see the 160s. ;) WTG!! Had a pretty good weekend here, it was gorgeous on Saturday and I spent a good chunk of it just relaxing outside. Ahhh...yesterday was hot and humid, so I hid inside. LOL At least I got a little housework in. ;) Today is rainy and I plan on getting some school stuff organized and maybe some trip prep done. We leave in a couple of weeks and I haven't even started writing lists yet! :stress: I am also kind of starting to worry about which workouts I am going to do. I'm not so sure I can do my usual one at my mom's, might have to improvise and change it up, we'll see. I'm off for some much needed coffee!!! :coffee: |
I had a mental break-through yesterday. I realized that for more than a year now, I've been eating as if I'm trying to get away with as much as possible. Yesterday, I tried eating as healthy as possible. It felt familiar -- that's how I was eating when I first lost the weight! Duh.

Everybody who's ever been on a long-term diet has experienced them, so we're really not that different. We just might have to be a little more patient because sometimes we are forced to move a little more slowly, but we can do it! :cheer: And of course shedding excess weight is easier on our joints, but eating healthy foods and taking vitamin D is probably the best thing we can do for our autoimmune disorder. If I thought I could go without a cheat day, I would, just because I think food affects our condition that much. But realistically, I know I don't have that kind of willpower. Having a cheat day keeps me on track the rest of the week. (At least now I try not to go too crazy on cheat day. I used to just have a quick-carb-fest, lol!) So just keep going, girlie! It will help! :flow1: Joy, I love your self-awareness! Just by posting your realization, you have helped all of us to stop and think about whether we really are giving it our all. Thank you! And I just know your renewed efforts are going to pay off for you! :cp: Lovemylife, that's a fantastic loss after a weekend! Great job! :carrot: Gordongirl, woohoo 170's! Keep that scale moving down! :jig: Sandye, Thank you! And I hope you have a wonderful trip! It sounds exciting, especially with your sister getting married! :congrat: to her! As for exercise, anything you can do will be better than nothing, so just do what you can! Congrats on another new low! :flame: |
I'm a little late but I would like to join this thread.
I weighed in this morning and found that my weight is at 196. My goal for June (what remains of it) is to drop below 190. |
Jacqui Are scales must be synced in some evil plot against us!
So TOM can't decide if it's happening or not. For a week now I've had bad cramps and now the bloating but no TOM. I think it's because I just started a new birth control a week ago and maybe it was ready to go until my BCP said no and now it's throwing a temper tantrum. I'm going to pause my BCP for a couple days until it works itself out. That's what my doc has said to do in the past. Leah, they might be! I've been wondering if my jump up could be TOM-related too because normally I'd have TOM by now, but at my age (54), you never know what's going to happen month-to-month, lol! |
My weight this morning was 80.9kg :)
Only 1kg left until my June goal! 84.4 ------- 80.9 --------- 79.9 So happy! Well done everyone, loving this little supportive group!! |

Good morning ladies! Thanks for all the encouragement and support. :grouphug:
Yesterday's weigh-in was a great success. I'm down 1.5 lbs! I was hoping for a little more but I'll take it. Lower numbers mean I moving in the right direction! Even if I'm whining all along the way. :goodscale Jacqui D and Delphi: Thanks for the insight on ibuprofen usage and water retention. Ages ago, I read an article that said allergy meds and anti-inflammatories can cause weight gain. At the time, I didn't worry too much about it. Did some research yesterday and realized that I need to ease up all this pill popping. There's no reason I can't survive on just one allergy med per day and take Advil only when I desperately need it. To think I was doing more harm than good. Hope everyone has a fantastic day! |
Good morning girls!!!
Gardenerjoy ~ I reached that point a couple of weeks ago too. Here's to continued success in that area! JacquiD ~ Thanks! :) She is Super Bride, so prepared and has all of her ducks in a row...it's amazing. I told her she needs to become a wedding planner! LOL Magistra ~ :welcome: Good luck to you with your goal this month!! :) LovelyLeah ~ bummer about the BCP. I am perimenopausal and sometimes skip a month and it messes everything up (including my husband's heart rate LOL). Hope it sorts itself out. Ambience ~ Great job on the loss!!! :carrot: EnglishMcTeach ~ Funny how extra calories can help to get the loss going again. I just had to alter mine as well, great job on figuring it out and getting the scale moving again! boatingmommy ~ sorry about the gain, but I loved your commentary off to the side. lol dangerouscurves ~ :woohoo: congrats on the loss!!! For my allergies, I try to stick to a low dose saline solution nasal spray though. My main issue as far as allergies is nasal congestion. Sometimes I just can't breathe through my nose! The nasal spray seems to work as well as anything else for me. Boating, time to buckle down! You can do it! :dust: Gordongirl, your body's just making the adjustment into the 170's! Let it do its thing and down you'll go! English, good job adding the calories! Too many people think that the lower they go in calories, the more they'll lose, and the body puts a quick nix on that! So, I took Aleve again last night (almost forgot I have to have a wisdom tooth out today, figured I'd better load up) and I regained the lb I had lost yesterday when I didn't take Aleve for 24 hours. I'm going to take it again today and perhaps the next few days, although I might switch over to Ibuprofen, which I kind of like better but which also has water retention properties, so it will be interesting to see what my weight does in the next week!

Alright ladies and gents...its HUMP day. Friday is almost here.
boatingmommy ~ Don't ya just love it when the kiddos get involved? My middle son has been walking with me and we just ramble on. Its nice to have that one on one. Jacqui ~ Well isn't that a pickle..eh? I do try not to take any anti-inflammatory if I can. But sometimes, there is no way around it. Perhaps on those day, extra water might be in order? Perhaps that might help a bit. kelijpa ~ Looks like that downward trend is getting you real close to goal. Awesome!! hepzibah ~ Great job on the drop. :carrot: LovelyLeah ~ Not having enough time to make a meal is our biggest problem here. Take-out is just sooo easy and we can use that time to do other things as opposed to making dinner. I know people say plan ahead but for the life of me, I just can't for any extended period of time. Grrr. Hopefully your day picked up for you and good choices were abound. :D magistra17 ~ :welcome: to the challenge thread and :congrat: on that loss. You are well on your way to seeing the 180s soon. VickieLou ~ :bravo: for getting back on-plan. It can be hard, so be proud you did. Keep up that groovy work. iDream ~ Soooo, a baby fix..eh? I keep saying that. Of course, I politely asked the doctor to break my babymaker and he did, so no mas babies for me. But man, I see a wee one and I almost just break out in tears. I miss those days with the boys, you know, before they could speak  (Just kidding.) In any case, hope you had fun with the nephew. And yeah, the after-TOM-whoosh has bit the dust for me as well. The older I get the worse it has become, TOM that is. I was talking to my doctor about it and was even thinking taking a more invasive approach to correcting Eves burden on me. ;) In any case, your loss has been steady. You have come a long way and you are doing marvelous darling. dangerouscurves76 ~ :cheer: on the loss. And oh nooooo, no allergy meds to? My dermatologist has me on Allegra daily and some topical cream for a stupid rash on my arm and I had no clue that would be detrimental to my weight loss as well. Guess I'm gonna have to go google that one as well. Thanks for the heads up. gardenerjoy ~ What a revelation. I had to ponder that one as well. I think I really do that while I'm losing weight this time around. Just what can I get away with? What can I sacrifice? Definitely some food for thought. Awesome that you saw the light. Hope it works well for you. :D __________ Well, oh my goodness what a day for me yesterday. Just busy, busy. Flat tire which was full of awesome. Furniture guys finally brought our "replacement" furniture we ordered like 10 years ago. Just an FYI, if you buy furniture, GET THE INSURANCE. We have on everything we buy and it is totally worth it. After 1 years use of our dining room table/chairs there were so many scratches in the wood etc.. that when they came out to see it they were just like yeah, you can just switch it out, its not worth fixing. So basically with insurance which I think was a little over 100 bucks, we get a brand new dining set and the only out of pocket cost was us adding a new insurance policy. I digress. So anyway, the guys come over "oooh and ahhh" and knock my stuff off my desk etc etc.. Good times. Finished all my work, clocked out and got to work on the yard. Then dinner for the boys and video games for me and that was all she wrote. Bing bang boom! I really hope today is less eventful. Its supposed to be in the upper 90s today, so perhaps a nice walk after work will be on the agenda. And in other news and probably more relevant to the challenge...I'm down another pound. So, yeah, thats great. Its probably because I spent so much time yesterday picking up stuff the furniture people knocked over at my house. Okay, I've rambled on incessantly. Sorry. VickieLou ~ Congrats on the BIG loss!! :carrot::cb::cp: JacquiD ~ Sorry about the regain. Sometimes though, pain outweighs weight. I honestly didn't know that either of those meds had water retention properties. Hmm...as I've gotten older, I've developed some hip/sciatic issues and have been taking both of them more than I'd like. I might have to rethink them. Hope your wisdom tooth doesn't give you too much grief! Magistra ~ tiny losses add up to big ones! Great job! :) LovelyLeah ~ I am not a big fan of cooking but even less so on super hot days, I feel ya! Hope you were able to stay the course yesterday! :) hepzibah ~ Awesome job on the loss!!:carrot: boatingmommy ~ If there was a glue smilie, I'd send it your way. :D Sounds like you had a nice time with your kiddos and got a walk in to boot! Yay! Delphi ~ Oh believe me, this womb is not for rent--no way, no how!! :nono::nono: I just needed a quick little baby fix. :bb: Gone forever are the days of pregnancy and nursing (and late night changes/feedings/wakings...). I do miss it terribly, that first year is my favorite...sigh...I too wish to remove the burden of TOM permanently from my life. Alas, I can't really justify it. I don't have any major issues other than it is a pita to deal with every month. Still...I would love to get an ablasion perhaps and just call it done. lol Furniture insurance? Good Morning Everyone! It's Wednesday, only two more days before the weekend:)
Magistra17: Congrats on the awesome weight loss LovelyLeah: You are doing great, keep up the good work Hepziban: Great job with your loss Jacqui: Good luck with the wisdom tooth being pulled. I had mines pulled some years back and it wasn't fun. Let us know how you're doing. Boatingmommy: Congrats on the loss. I try to get my son to go walking with my daughter and I but he never wants to go lol. Delphi: Sounds like you had a really hectic and busy day yesterday. Hope today is less stressful. Gardner Joy: I have been really focusing on a healthy and light as well. The last week for me hasn't been stressful at all. I haven't been obsessing over eating, so I call that a victory lol I just think that my mindset is finally where it should be for this journey. Keep up the good work IDream: I'm not a huge fan of a lot of heat either. I prefer 80 degrees and sunny. Well everyone have a great day! I'll try to check in later |

Jacqui Sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth. Just the thought (and memory) makes me cringe. Don't worry about water weight. The nice thing about it is that it's completely temporary and brings about a pleasant whoosh when it's done.
Delphi That's sounds like one intense day!! Congrats on the drop too! iDream That was me yesterday. It was super hot and muggy. I made myself a large jug (1/2 gallon) of poor man's lemonade and sat inside and drank it. It's mostly water with 2 tbs of sugar and 4 packets of crystalized lemon. You could just use lemon juice but the brand I use is True Lemon and it's just straight lemon juice dehydrated, I love it! I can keep it in my purse and make any water lemon water. ___________________________________ (iDream, I'm stealing it too! ;)) After this weekend and waking up feeling hungover from dehydration I've increased my water intake a lot over the last few days since I haven't had any where to go. I'm really bad about drinking enough water, especially when I'm out and about. I don't like having to constantly go to the bathroom. But I think this water increase has really helped get rid of the water weight. I'm still waiting to hear back from my new job as to when I can start. I'll be happy to get out of the house and getting a paycheck. I have a large purchase coming up this summer! My boyfriend and I are getting engaged and we're semi breaking from tradition because I'm also buying him an engagement ring. He's a ring guy and has always lamented how only the girls get a ring when they're engaged. The wisdom tooth was not a problem! :woohoo: It came out very easily, 2 shots of novacaine, 2 hard tugs, and it was out, no drills, no stitches, no meds other than 800mg of the ibuprofen I bought this morning. Now if the recovery will go just as smoothly, that'd be awesome! :crossed: I have to rest, which won't be hard considering that big of a dose of ibuprofen makes me sleepy, and follow orders about what and how I eat/drink. etc. Other than some pesky water weight, I should be just fine! :D
Hepzibah, woot woot! Keep it going! :flame: Turtle, looking good! Almost there! Looks like just a little water separating you from your goal right now! :carrot: Leah, Congrats on the great new low! :bravo: Good job on the extra water! And congrats on the new job and upcoming engagement! Wow! Those are some major wonderful events! :yay: Also thank you, I was lucky with my tooth! Magistra, another drop, yay! :dancer: VickieLou, you'll be pushing past 204 before you know it on to Onederland! Lovemylife, thank you for the positive thoughts! Sandye, I agree, pain does outweigh weight loss sometimes. We do what we have to do! Joy, yay! Good for you! Keep it going! :broc: Delphi, sorry about your "full of awesome" flat tire, but happy to hear your furniture was finally delivered! :cp: Gordongirl, that bump up is just water. It will fall back off! Boating, glad to see that weekend water weight coming back off! :cb: And glad you got to spend quality time with your teenaged son! (Sometimes things are moving so quickly when they are that age, it's hard!) :) |
Jacqui That's amazing that it went so smoothly. I'm really scared to get the rest of my wisdom teeth pulled. They only pulled one because my insurance will only cover one at a time. The other 3 are supposed to be really difficult so I've been putting it off.

Is that why they have to take them out? I've had all 4 of mine since I was 21. The one they took out became loose (which I'm sure is why it came out so easily) and infected and so they had to take it out. The other 3 are fine, so they aren't messing with those. Keli, looking good! Keep going! :dancer: |
Good Morning Everyone! It's almost TGIF
Yesterday at work we had a retirement party for a manager that was with us for 43 years. They ordered tons of food and a beautiful cake. Sweets are my weakness. I'm proud to say, I didn't eat any of it. One of my co-workers cut me a piece of cake and brought it to me. I wrapped it and gave it to another manager that works a different shift. I was so proud of myself to resisting the temptation. I think my mind is were it's suppose to me for my healthy lifestyle journey. Well, I hope everyone has a great day. Will check in later:) |

I had two of my wisdom teeth out awhile ago and it wasn't a bad experience at all. I didn't even need the prescription pain medicine they gave me, just tylenol. I know other people have more pain than that, but at least for me it wasn't bad at all. And congratulations on getting engaged! You must be so excited! :congrat: |
