Still holding breath I've made it past 142. Will rest easier once I'm out of 140s.

Was doing well today but nibbled on some cheese and crackers after the gym. Roll on tomorrow and my mega workout day.

I dropped another 1.5 lbs this morning, although I’m not sure it was real. Normally I weigh myself when I first get up, which is about 6 am. This morning, I didn’t get up until 8:30 am, since I’m still sick and taking medication that makes me groggy. So, I suspect some, if not all, of my 1.5 lb loss was due solely to weighing much later than normal this morning. We’ll see whether or not this loss sticks tomorrow morning.

Jacqui: A half pound is good! It’s a shame you don’t take after me, since I hate pumpkin, so you wouldn’t be tempted. That said, I hope you enjoy your treat day!

Joy: Glad to see you lost again.

Minneey: Let’s both get out of the 140’s quickly!

Woodstock & 183StGB: No change is better than a gain!

Sum: October is YOUR month…way to go!

Amanda: I hope you’re back to your ticker weight very soon.

Rhiko: Good luck getting into the 64’s…walking will help.

yesterday's weigh-in: 76.6kg (175.5lbs)
yesterday's calories: 1800
yesterday's exercise: 10k
today's weigh-in: 82.2kg (181.1lbs)
change: +2.6kg (+5.6lbs)

like seriously? I couldn't gain this much in a day if I tried.
Wherever this came from, I hope it's gone just as quick.

On a happy note, I'm back to running after 3 weeks basically without. I ran 10k yesterday - 20minutes slower than the last time I did that distance on 9/29, but I was glad I was able to pull through.
I went on my 'hard' track this morning, it's really steep uphill, and it was so foggy I couldn't see more than 5m, but it was really relaxing and fall makes everything look so pretty. I'm Feeling sore now, but it let's me know I did something :)

Jacqui_D yay pumpkin Festival!! :P

Tuscany I hope your drop was real! And feel better soon :)

Joy well done on your all time low!

take care everyone :)

Bad day today. Didn't weigh in. Definately off plan - second day this week. Looking for some healthy dinner ideas for Sunday night... Something that feels like a treat (hate Mondays) but is healthy healthy healthy... Will check the other threads for inspiration.

64.5kgs! :woohoo:

I suspect the whoosh has come from my 10km run that I did two days ago. Either that or my TOM weight is being kind this month  (which I doubt). If I hadn't had that pizza, I could have been at my goal for the month, or at least very close. Oh well, lesson learned.

196.4 this morning...FINALLY, after 10 days, downward movement on the scales! That's a total loss of 5 lbs. this month for me but at the rate I'm losing (1 lb in 10 days!) I won't make the 7.4 lbs. goal I set!

Ever since I got into ONE-derland I started losing sooooooo slow!:?:

I am very pleased :) I have been on this diet for one week and have lost 5 lb! I hope to lose 5 more this week. I am taking sunday off...Is that bad? comments would be welcome as long as they are not rude.

Jacqui_D 10-20-2013 12:10 PM

Healthytobe, everyone here is very nice so don't worry. Congrats on being 5 lbs down! That's fantastic! By the way, I tried to PM you in response to your introduction thread and it did not allow the PM to go through, so here is a link back to that thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/intr...hi-im-new.html. Luckily, you are a member of this challenge thread which I also belong to! Anyway, keep going! You are doing great! :cp: Oh, and I take a day off each week and it's been working great for me. I stressed out last week, but that was time-of-the-month (TOM) related, both physically and emotionally. So no, Sundays off are not bad as long as it works for you! I hope you do lose 5 more lbs this week, but don't become discouraged if you don't. Weight loss takes time and patience, and our weight tends to fluctuate naturally. We just have to keep plugging away at it.

gardenerjoy 10-20-2013 12:14 PM

healthytobe: we're rarely rude on this thread! Jacqui_D makes a cheat day work for her, so I'll be looking for her advice on how to manage one well. I find it easier to stay on course nearly all of the time because so many of the foods that I no longer eat are trigger foods. It's not worth it to me to have one day off if it means that I have cravings for a week or more -- or worse, that I actually end up off plan for weeks or months. My exceptions are for travel, but even there I'm still learning how to make that not derail me for a long time after the trip. I feel like I'm just now recovered from the aftermath of my France trip in June.

Edited to add: Jacqui_D is a fast responder!

My lowest weight since sometime in June -- woohoo!

healthytobe: Congratulations on your initial 5 lb loss. Some of us have success with cheat days, others don’t. Best thing to do is give it a shot and see if it works for you…good luck!

healthytobe congrads on the 5lbs!
I didn't do a cheat day for the first 3months. I was really looking Forward to eating all the things I was craving on my birthday (Pizza, cake, chocolate, cheese fries...), but I would eat one Piece, and be like: this is good, but I'm full/had enough of that. I think Food really is addictive, and I guess distancing myself from it for a while helped me make smarter choices. But I still have "planned days off plan", I think it's legit.

Anyways, have a great week everyone :)

Healthytobe, as Tuscany mentioned, cheat days work well for some people and not so well for others. I always gain .5 to 2.5 lbs the day after cheat day, but it's water weight and usually falls away in the next couple of days and then I keep losing. I never cheat on any day except cheat day, not even one bite. And I always go back to my diet after cheat day, without fail. But as GardenerJoy mentioned, for some people cheat day is a trigger that causes them to fall off the wagon, so it's a really bad idea for people whose hunger is stimulated by a cheat day to attempt them. And then as 183StGB mentioned, some people do well just having an occasional cheat day, not a weekly one, or even just a special cheat meal. They plan for it, and it works well for them because they are able to pick back up with their diets afterward. The only way for anyone to know if a cheat day will work for them is to try it. Do expect to gain water weight the day after any cheat day though!

Sum, looking good!

183, good luck with your classes! I hope you have a great day! :book2:

Marymo, good luck! :crossed: I'm glad you are back on track!

Minneey, okay, time to have a beat down with pound #142! :club:

Stiletto, oh no, I hope you are feeling better! I'm glad to see you losing weight but sickness is not the way! I'm wishing you well!

Joy, lol, I don't know how I sneaked in before you!

gardenerjoy 10-21-2013 09:58 AM

stilettolife: hope you're feeling better!

marymo: yay for getting back on track -- I really think that's the most valuable skill I learned in this version of weight loss. It's the reason that I was successful after almost two decades of not making it happen.

dcapulet: love that you saw 189.9. Sometimes the scale takes our goals SO literally.

I do zumba 3 times a week missed one day and the one other day I really didnt give it my all and I think that might be why I didnt loose much this week. However I am taking it a day at a time. Hopefully I get to come here pretty soon and share my excitement of hitting my Oct. goal! Great start of the week to everyone!

Jacqui: Way to drop another pound!

Joy: You’re almost at goal…keep going…

Minneey: Hang in there! You’ve been at or around 142 for 13 days now, and I know how frustrating that can be. I stayed at 143.50 for 16 days, from the 1st to the 16th. I wandered down a bit, but kept returning to 143.50…it was driving me nuts. Then, all of a sudden I started to drop. Just stay on plan and it WILL happen. In the meantime, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the whoosh fairy pays you a special visit tonight! :crossed:

183StGB: Hope you enjoyed your Spanish class. The tickers can be very motivational. I’m looking forward to seeing yours.

Sum: You’re staying below goal, which is good.

Rhiko: I hope you get another whoosh soon.

campana: Good luck in reaching October’s goal…you don’t have far to go!

dcapulet: Congrats on making it into the 180’s!

Campana, you can do it! :cheer:

Minneey, Maybe 142 is a set point for your body. I've always thought that 197 was a set point for me and when I finally hit it, just as had happened when I had dieted before, it took me a while to get past it. I'd go down to 196, even 195, but then I'd pop back up to 197, just as you are doing with 142. The theory of set points is that your body is adjusting to a new high that it feels comfortable leveling out at, and that's a good thing because when you slip up, that's the weight it goes back to instead of the next set point above it. I know that if I stopped dieting today, my weight would drift back up to 197 and then it'd level out there for a long while--months even years--because it's done it before. And having my body settle there is a lot better than my next set point up, 210. I know some people don't believe in the theory of set points, but I do based on all my years of yo-yo dieting. I know that 197 is a set point for me and knowing that helped me not to feel too bad when I lingered there for longer than I wanted to on the way down because I knew my body was getting away from the 210 set point. Whether or not you believe in set points, try not to feel demoralized. You aren't doing anything wrong. Your body really is making adjustments. Just stick with it. You will get past it!

Rhiko, I hear ya! I've gotten to the point where I don't dread TOM as much anymore because I know it will bring a drop (although my last TOM did mess with me some), lol! :D

Tuscany, yay for the 130's! :spin:

Sum, I'm glad you enjoyed a day off! :T That water weight will drop back off soon!

Turtle, congrats on the new low! Woohoo! :broc:

For Minneey, I'll echo what others have said. Some weights are just sticky. Most of this month, it looked like I wasn't going to move off of 77.35kgs and, then, I finally did. The only thing I changed was an apple + cheese in place of a more grain-centered snack. While you're waiting for the scale to move, you might amuse yourself by making a small change like that.
Also, how tall are you? Is it possible that your body has decided this is your goal weight? My original goal was 150 which is the mid-point of the normal BMI for my height. But I read some studies that said longevity was most correlated with the lower end of the overweight BMI, so I kept an open mind. In the end, I declared my maintenance range to be 165-170, which straddles the line -- at 165 I'm at the high end of normal and at 170 I'm at the low end of overweight. I can maintain this weight and still be reasonably happy with what I get to eat. Of course, I'm still an overeater at heart, so I would love to eat more, but I can live with this way of eating for the rest of my life.

I had six straight days of losses, so I can't complain. Although I was rather hoping it would end in a stall, not a jump.
