Lindsy, I totally agree with Slammer about weight loss and stress. My sister has been stuck at 213 even though she has been exercising like mad and staying on plan. But she just got a job that she is going to start training for on Monday and has been so worried about this for a couple weeks. Stress and lack of good sleep can really halt weight loss and/or cause a slight gain.

I hope you'll be able to get a day off soon. Isn't it against the law for them to make you work so many days without a break?

As for me, even though I only got in 3 days of exercise this week, today was so much cooler and overcast outside, so I decide it was a good time to prune all my roses down for fall (yeah, I know I'm a bit early, but they were getting out of control). So I pruned, deadheaded and trimmed my arbor hedge. I was out there for over 3 hours non-stop, and I am feeling it now. So I am counting that as a workout. :D

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Sandy - I think that def. counts as a work out! My weight loss slowed down as I was getting ready for my half marathon yesterday. It was a thrill to run it.

sandcar150 09-11-2011 12:19 PM

What did you place, envelope? I hope the weather wasn't too hot for you. Congratulations on completing it!!

envelope 09-11-2011 07:34 PM

I was the last person to finish that jogged the entire time. My chip time shows 3 hrs 40 sec. Considering I thought it might take me up to 3 and 1/2 hours to finish I am very happy.

sandcar150 09-12-2011 12:03 AM

Good for you! And you did the whole race without having to walk. Great job!!!

Slammer 09-12-2011 08:13 AM

Whoa, envelope! Congratulations. That's a great achievement!!

Good morning, my beautiful witches! :witch:

Just a quick pop in to say I lost another pound this week. I'm trying to look at it as a good thing, even though I was hoping for more. I'm dying to see onderland. But I'm going in the right direction, so I'm happy about that. :D

tab11 09-12-2011 02:41 PM

Congrats, envelope! Awesome accomplishment!

Sandy, a pound is great! Way better than a stall or gain! I'm sure you'll get a big whoosh soon, and be in Onederland in no time!

My goal for today and tomorrow is to eat slightly below my normal daily calorie plan, like 2 cupcakes worth, since I ate three of my boyfriend's b-day cupcakes over this weekend instead of the one I planned for. I now realize why I haven't been baking cakes and cookies since I started this in February. It's too darn tempting. Oh, cake.

I read an article recently on habits and how they can be a detriment to weight loss; I can't post the link since I don't have the post count yet, but you can find it by googling "Mens Health" and "Why you eat when you're not hungry". One of my main overeating potential downfalls is snacking, especially popcorn, while watching tv, so this struck close to home. I'll finish my very-generous, portioned out plan amount of popcorn, and just think when I've finished, "what? is that all I get?" It's probably because I associate watching tv and movies with snacking; like they go together and if I'm still watching the show, I should still have snacks going down my gourd. The next time I plan a snack while watching a show or movie, I'm going to try to eat with my left, non-dominant hand, like they mention helps in the article. I'll let you know if this helps me break my habit and feel satisfied when I really am!

Good job ladies! We are getting close to Halloween I'm getting super excited!!

My and my scale are not on good terms right now. I have no clue what's happenin. So right now we arnt talking lol. Iv been having terrible cravings for sweet things. Mostly chocolate. It's gonna be the death of me. :(

Wish me luck! Lol. Have a nice day ladies!

envelope 09-13-2011 07:45 AM

Sandy - any loss is a good thing! :0)

Thank you all for the kind words about my 1/2 marathon. I was very proud of myself for following the training schedule and finishing with out walking. Not that there is anything wrong with those who walked...they were out there busting it too. I was just amazed that I was able to do it! I have a 10K in a couple weeks and then I am going to start training for a very hilly 10 miler...so I will be adding in more hills.

sandcar150 09-13-2011 10:43 AM

Envelope, it's so nice to have goals like that to look forward to. My mom was a runner. She did so many races and marathons and has a nice collection of medals to show for it. She even competed in the LA Marathon in 2000 (she was 60 years old at the time) and placed 8th in her age group, finishing in just over 5 hours...in the rain no less! I was so proud of her.

Lindsy, prior to starting my blog, I was the chocolate queen. Sweets and me were great friends. I've found the only way to squash that craving is to eat a diet high in protein and low in refined carbs. After 3 days of eating like that, it's like someone extracted my sweet tooth. I kid you not!

Tab, great advice about the snacking. It is so easy to eat with abandon when you have a big bowl of popcorn in front of you while watching tv. When you hit the bottom of that bowl, it's like, "Wow! I hardly even remember eating that." Please let us know how it works out eating with your left hand.

Yesterday was a low energy day for me. It didn't help that I was still so sore from that yard work. But today I have to get some stuff done, regardless of the fact that I'm still a bit sore. Sometimes you just gotta say "Just do it!"

Have a good one everybody! :dracula:

TheLindsy 09-13-2011 03:58 PM

There's the problem with me. I'm vegetarian. So having a high protien diet is super hard. :( but I'm going to try that! Chocolate and me are gonna break up!!

Anyway idk how many of you chicks use a smart phone. But I just Downloaded an app calle myfitnesspal. It's pretty sweet. You can scan the barcore on food and it will pull everything up. It's nice for me cause I'm too lazy to actually wrote everything down. And since my phone is practically glued to me it makes it easier! If any of you wanna add me, my user name is thelindsy we can be friends on it. And see what eachother has been up to! :)

Slammer 09-13-2011 05:43 PM

Sandy-- a loss is a loss! Good job, and show those low-energy days who's boss! The Nike slogan is actually my weight loss mantra :D
tab--that's an interesting idea... I might have to try it next time I snack at the movies :D
Lindsy-- I wish I had a smartphone :( My sister-in-law is actually using that app, and she says it makes her diet a lot easier.
As for me, I have come down with a stomach bug :( But I'm down to 164, so that's 4 pounds in two days, which I comfort myself with as I worship the porcelain god even though I know it will just come back in water when I can eat again! Keep up the good work, ladies!

sandcar150 09-13-2011 10:48 PM

Lindsy, yeah, it would be a little harder to follow a high-protein diet being a vegetarian, but I think it can be done. I guess lots of fish, cheese, greek yogurt, eggs. That sugar demon is a hard habit to break without it.

Slammer, I'm sorry to hear that you're sick. That is not a fun way to lose weight. Drink lot of water and get well soon.

Well, my energy came back, thank goodness. I got so much more accomplished today. Had a great workout and even felt thinner.

Come on, ladies, let's shake our booooooties http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../Go-Stewie.gifand get these pounds off my Halloween. I am determined to be in onederland by then.

Slammer 09-14-2011 08:21 PM

Thank you, Sandy! I've been drinking a lot of water and was able to keep food down today, so hopefully I will be back in the gym doing some light exercise tomorrow. I'm glad to hear you have your energy back, and that you had an "I-feel-thinner" day. Those always motivate me.
