  • I am on day 77 and getting ready to drink a cup of coffee and then go for a jog.

My weight bounced up this week after a big woosh last week. As much as I would like to have a steady loss, I think it is normal to have some weight fluctuations. The scale will pay off the weight loss it owes me...soon I hope!

LGW - You have a lot of long shifts right? I think that you may be right about not getting enough sleep. Your body is probably thinking what the heck is going on!?! Just keep at it, and the weight loss will catch up with you.
  • SaturdaY!
    Hi all:

just finished logging my calories for today--I was just reading that logging food is one of the most successful tools for weight loss--those who do so lose more and keep more off than those who dont. so I am keeping track. it is so easy to forget to log an item and overdo it!

LGW--yup I went on a walk about and I found out once again that I have to come back and face up to what I want in life and it is to lose this weight!!

Tyla: good job on the pound!

env: Yeah dont worrry about a rebound--that is entirely normal. its like the body want to make sure that we are serious or something!
  • Well, I've plateaued--again. I didn't lose anything. I am now just "grimly determined" (as I wrote in another post) not really "motivated". If I can't lose any more weight, then this way of life is the only thing keeping me from gaining uncontrolably. So, I can't give up. It's really frustrating but I'm hopeful that I'll see occassional drops in weight if I keep at it.

I'm off for two-weeks of vacation back to Minnesota. So, this will count as one of the suggestions I've found for ending a plateau--taking a break. Upon return, I'll be back on track and get to it. For now, I have to be cautious to prevent "vacation gains". I did really well two years ago (after that huge weight loss), so I hope to use that strategy. Last year's vacation, I was able to maintain. Looks good for this year ("**fingers crossed**).
  • vacation!!
    Hi all;

I was just thinking about vacations because I usualy do very badly and I am going out of town at the end of this month and really want to have my head straight for then.

so my plan is to log in everyday, keep my food log, and weigh myself every day until then so I am really in gear.

    take care all!

    sno
  • Snobrocade: avoid the all or nothing mentality while on vacation. If you eat healthy MOST of the time you will be successful. If you are anything like me, dining out is waaaayyyy better than my food, no matter what it is! For me a nice veggie omelet, side of grits or oatmeal for breakfast and a protein, veggie and salad for lunch and dinner and maybe a dessert with only one of these meals would be satisfying. Oh and rum and diet coke for those drinking times of course (do a google search for low carb alcoholic beverages). I'm not sure what plan you're on?
However, it soulds as if you ahve thought about it which is the first step! Hang in there! I will be looking for your post!!!!
  • Day 17!

LGW, my body was doing crazy things like that for a while. I realized it was stress. You can actually gain weight from stress.

    envelope, congrats on day 77!

sno, thanks for the congrats and you are right about tracking.
  • tyla: I've decided to stick it out and stay OP! I have 1 more week of this crazy schedule!
  • Monday
    Hi all:

a very good day today--I do the best when I start out with fruit and yogurt.

thanks for the tips on vac LGW--I think the advice on the all or nothing is apt--I tend to go all out if I just go over. so I think not overeating is a good plan and if I am fairly strict up until then my stomach will be shrunk which will help.

    keep checking in twyla

LGW--if I go off it is usually in response to stress so I think if I could learn to stay on plan or at least relatively on plan when I am under stress I would do much better.
  • Day 79 is almost done. My weight has been pretty much the same for the last 8 days.

I have been very hungry on Tues and Wed lately, so I decided to go up to my 1800 cal limit today to see if it helps any. If not, I will really have to consider increasing my cal limit for those days. I think that when I am done with my races (1/2 marathon and 10K in sept and a hilly 10 miler in Oct.) I will not need quite as many cals.

  • Hi, checking in. Envelope, Sno and LGW: you guys rock--constant vigilance, weigh-ins, running, and modersation. Yeah.

I'm off for a two week vacation with kids (hubby stays home for work and we're getting built-ins installed by my son's classmate's contractor mom). I come back to a new bedroom! Woo hoo.

Vacation is super tough as the whole darn point of going home is to visit my favorite things: Dairy Queen, the State Fair, Perkins, and so much more. Oh right, I also see all my relatives. Actually I love the very much but the food is a major component to my growing up. I really have so many memories tied to food plus an activity.

I've done alright in the past few trips. I'm trying swimming and walking to find new exercise strategies. I have been plateauing alot all summer while staying on plan and biking alot. Now, I'm trying to switch up exercise and have one day a week that is high cal (ie up to the level of maintenance--or about 1800 cals on a slow moving day).

I'll check in a few times while away. Stay motivated folks! Hope all goes well with everyone.
