maddiesmom - you look gorgeous in your dress! And I love how you did your hair! So sorry you were continuing to struggle with the numbness thing - what a trooper you are. Best of luck tomorrow - we'll all be wishing you a quick recovery.

Dance: Thanks! The dress was the only one I could find that I liked and had sleeves - everything seems to be sleeveless and I still need more work on my arms before I show them off. Thanks for the compliments. I found a new hairdresser who is amazing and helped me find that style. I really like it. How is your knee doing?

Surgery went well - very nervous though. Doc came in and told me what was going on and of course that scares the crap out of you. After surgery, I just couldn't warm up - ended up with heated blankets. Doctor said he removed a pretty big piece of bone that I guess had broken off, so at least there was a reason for all this pain. They removed the herniation as well.

I was out of the hospital by 1:15 and took an awesome nap on the couch. I have a super sore throat from the breathing tube they used and it will be sore for a couple more days. I'm able to walk around, up and down the stairs, just fine. Just getting up and down is a little sensitive. All in all, I feel good. My hubby has been great and his boss told him to work from home tomorrow and Monday, so I have someone here. So I'm taking it easy for now.

Hope everyone is well! Got weighed at the doctor - 196 - not too bad considering I ate Olive Garden and Pizza yesterday (hey, figured it was my last meal before surgery so I splurged - when this is over, it's back to working out!)

Vicky-glad your surgery went well. You've got to be sore. Is the numbness going away now? Glad your hubby is taking good care of you. Take it easy for a few days.

I've been walking some but not as much as I want to the last few days. There is a 5k walk coming up on the 16th. I am gonna do it. Looking for someone to do it with me. Im gonna ask my sister in law but I dont think she will. Gonna ask a few friends. Its a walk to stop domestic violence so I would like to get as many people as I can to walk.

I was bad yesterday and has chinese for lunch so today my weight was 190. I know its from sodium so I have been downing water today. Hopefully Im back down to 188 in the next few days.

Sandy sent me a msg. She is done with training and is now in the Academy, she said its more training but easier than what shes been doing. Hopefully she has more time soon and can check in.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Allison: The numbness hasn't gone away yet, it's going to take awhile - doc said maybe months, but we'll see. He may have me go through physical therapy to help strengthen my left side. We'll see what he says at my 2 week check up. Pain isn't too bad - thanks to pain meds and rest. I can walk ok, sit ok, and lay down ok, it's the transitions that hurt.

Watching what I eat so I can get back into shape. I have to say, it's a good thing that I was working out before this happened. I am using my leg muscles a lot more, so thanks to Jeff for making me do all those squats! I'm sure the healing process would be a lot slower if I were 80 pounds heavier.

Taking it easy for the next week - next Saturday we get our new carpet, so I'm hoping I'll be ok enough to help Matt a little bit. Don't want to over do it and hurt myself though.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Get out there and get some miles in for me!

Vicky-glad your pain is tolerable. Hope everything starts feeling better soon. Dont overdo it if you dont feel up to it when the carpet comes in.

Walked 4 miles today and registered for the 5k. Its a walk not a run but thats ok. Im not a good runner. Having a hard time getting anyone to commit to walking it with me. Everyone has an excuse, but I told Chris, with or without someone to walk it with, I am doing it. Theres another one the following weekend. I might do it too.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.

Hey Ladies. I got a little break from the boys tonight. Their dad came and got them for about 3 hours. Hes gonna drop them back off to me at 930. I didnt get a walk in. It was dark by the time I got back home. Im gonna get a workout in before they get back though.

I want to walk 4 miles tomorrow. Trying to get in as many as I can to get ready for the 5k. Im gonna try to run some of it but I know I wont be able to run it all. Nothing fun happening here. Gonna get some groceries tomorrow, need some veggies. Theres a farmers market on Wednesday when I have the boys. Need to go to it. It will be done soon.

Slow board...

Allison: good for you doing the 5K, regardless if you have a walking buddy or not. I need to get some walking in, I'm sure I'm not doing enough right now for my rehab. Gotta get around the block at least tomorrow.

Managed to get through the day without any pain killers, so that's a bonus. I gotta learn to live with some pain, I can't drive and work on the meds they gave me. I also managed to drive to and from Maddie's daycare, so my hubby won't have to worry about that when he returns to work tomorrow (he's been home with me since Thursday).

The hubby has been a trooper, he's Mr. Mom, Mr. Nurse and trying to get the house ready for the carpet installers this weekend. I don't even want to think about the amout of work we'll have to do in the next few days to get ready. Plus, he's still working on retiling the kitchen, which has to be done before Saturday. Life is busy for him and I feel horrible that I can't be more help. I can't bend at all, and he is already yelling at me for doing too much.

Go back next Wednesday to see the doc, so we'll see how I'm healing. I'm able to move around better, but really want to get back to the gym, which I won't be able to do for a few more weeks. Jeff has been really sweet and checking in on me though - one of the few friends who actually texted "good luck" to me the day of the surgery and then had a texting conversation on Friday to see how I was doing.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hey girls - missed you all! We just got back from our quick trip to New Orleans last night. It was fun but it was a tough place to try to eat healthy - lots and lots of fried stuff and very few veggies and fruits.

burgundy - your 5k plans sound great!

maddiesmom - it must be so frustrating waiting to heal - hang in there!

So, yesterday I took an exercise break to give my feet a chance to recover from all our walking in NO but today I'm going to get in a run at lunch. What are you guys up to today?

Hey everyone. I only have a few minutes but wanted to check in.

Vicky-glad your hubby is taking good care of you. Hopefully the healing process is easy and quick for you. Take care of yourself and dont try to do too much.

Dance-we missed you too. Glad you had fun. Bummer on the no veggies and fruit part.

Gotta get to the boys house soon. Seems like thats all I do lately. Still need to get to the grocery store. Hope the farmers market is still going on today. Its a little rainy out. The scale was nice to me again today. One more lb to 50!

burgundy - Lucky you - our farmer's markets shut down at labor day - I wish they were still around. How exciting to be that close to the big 50 - how are you planning to celebrate?

Dance-it was a rainy day so there were only 2 booths set up at the FM. I got a few veggies but not as many as I wanted. Guess I'll just have to get them at the grocery store. Gonna work in the yard today. Gotta get a tree cleaned up that fell a few weeks ago. Maybe I can get Chris out there today(he might want to wait til Sunday). Ready for Saturday to get here, wanna walk that 5k!!!

Ok, girls - I suck! I've been a lazy bum since I got back from New Orleans and I'm turning that around as of today. I think it's TOM or something but I've been kind of low and wanting to eat bad stuff. Enough already! I'm going to get out for a run this afternoon and am only going to eat healthy stuff this weekend.

burgundy - what are you cooking up this week? I'm thinking I need to make some veggie soup.

maddiesmom - hope you're doing okay with your recovery!

Dance: I am so not motivated, it's crazy. Since I can't work out, you'd think I'd be watching what I'm eating - NOPE! I guess for me, exercise and eating well goes hand in hand. I need to start watching what I eat again.

Back is ok, not great, but not horrible either. I'm dealing with the pain (I have to live with it, right?) rather than taking the pain meds. I don't want to come reliant on them. Flooring comes tomorrow and we still have so much to do. I feel horrible that I can't help my hubby more, but I'm doing what I can. I was sitting on the floor of the closet putting my ebaying clothes in suitcases since we're getting the closets recarpeted too. I'm a bit sore, but I'm thinking it's because I haven't used these muscles in awhile.

So, carpeting all day tomorrow, then moving back into my own house in the evening. Taking Madeline to an apple orchard on Sunday - it's over an hour away, but my mom's been taking me there since I was a kid, so I want to have that tradition for my little one. Pony rides, hot apple cider, pumpkin and apple picking and homemade, hot cider donuts (my downfall, but we're not buying a lot of them). Should be a fun day as long as the back holds up. It's supposed to be 60, so should be great.

Anyone else have plans for the weekend?

maddiesmom - holy cow! for someone who's recovering from BACK SURGERY (!!!), you are one active girl! Love the idea of the apple orchard - what a nice tradition to share. I so know what you mean - when you're exercising, you just automatically make better food choices. I'm hoping to get on that bandwagon ASAP

Nothing too exciting on the schedule for this weekend - I have friends staying with me that are in town for to manage sales at a holiday market of sorts and we're having dinner with them tonight at an asian place with healthy options. And Sunday my sis, my niece and I are going to that holiday market to get some early xmas shopping in.

Hope you all are doing great

ETA - after three lazy days, I finally got a run in
