Enjoy those cravings AmberKay....
I had a cup of cranberry juice blended with blueberries and a scoop of protein powder,,,seems it killed the sweet craving. Still want the cheese,,,and the goop....it looks like goop when its all together...cheese sour cream and salsa
I take my sweet tooth out with a glass of crystal light/peppermint tea.
Also, the grocery store in the city I just moved to has an entire section dedicated to organic foods(YAY!), so I'm going to look around there for some healthy things to replace the bad things that I love so much.
I crave chocolate and or peanut butter and in any combination! But what's worse, I crave chocolate, but I hate it! it gives me heartburn and makes me feel pukey, but, I still crave it! that really sucks
I have random sweet/salty/tangy cravings. I have a million ways to deal with them...
* Have some. Completely restricting a food does NOT work for me...but I'm ok if I just remember that what I allow myself every now & then isn't as important as how much of it I have.
* Eat lots of fruit. I have a huge sweet tooth, but I would take fresh, ripe fruit over candy any day. I'm happiest when my fridge looks like an orchard.
* Just smell it. Over three quarters of my cravings are just a reaction to the smell of something. For me, most foods do smell better than they taste...so I just smell whatever it is and remind myself of that fact.
* Get some exercise/brush my teeth/go to bed/put lotion on. Stuff that distracts me & makes me feel better about myself than food ever can.
I crave hamburgers alot. Hamburger meat is so expensive I can rarely afford it but when I do put away the money for it I always eat way too much of it.
I have double whammy with my cravings. I LOVE French fries and sweets. and..i'm trying to become a pastry chef, and testing new recipes....bad bad bad. I'm slowly trying to find ways to reduce/eliminate them...but its a slow process.
1. Avoid it for a while (cuz it may be a habit)
2. Find an alternative (40 cal fudgecicle for a chocolate candy bar)
3. If it is still on your mind, go get one. (just one..portion control it). Chances are it isn't as good as you dreamed it would be because you've started acquiring better taste buds now. If it is, you got your fix for a while.
I keep some dark chocolate set aside for my chocolate cravings. I don't like it in huge quantities like milk chocolate, so a little bit satisfies me. Plus antioxidants are always good!
I went to the drug store and while I was waiting for my meds, I saw hershey's kisses. They come up with new limited edition flavors. Before I would eat the whole bag in one sitting. It really is something I can't have in moderation and they don't sell portion size small snack packs. I looked at 30 different types of candy. Obviously I was wanting something. In the end I reminded myself I haven't eaten supper yet and picked up some gum for the ride home!
