I really didn't want to get up again today. I did the recumbent bike for 40 minutes and my upper/lower body weights. I didn't get to the gym early enough to get into the steam room. That'll teach me.
Hi everyone--I haven't posted for awhile or even logged on to read others' posts. I got super duper busy with various work projects and I thought I only needed a week off but it grew to 2 weeks and now it's almost 3 weeks without a workout and I feel like crap. Honestly I finished most of my extra stuff late last week but it's just taking me awhile to get my motivation back. I made lots of extra money though, which is great right before Holidays.
Anyway, I have been guilt-tripping myself for the last few days to get a workout in. Last night I was supposed to get to the gym and left work too late to do it, so I ended up raking leaves and doing yardwork in the dark. My back is sooo sore today! I was really trying to make a workout of it and apparently it worked.
I need to get some cardio in today and I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to cram it in. I'm really trying to get back on schedule though!
Okay, y'all have me pumped up! You are an energetic bunch, and I love it!
This morning I worked out to 2 videos: Quick Fix Cardio Hip-Hop -- I did a 10 minute dance segment; and Core Secrets Accelerated Core Workout -- 45 minutes on the stability ball.
Yay Melra!! I missed you! Even if you can only get 15 minutes it that will make a difference. Extra money is always good, but you have to take care of yourself too! My goal weight is 138.5 because that makes me officially "normal". I want to make that by my daughter's birthday 3/5. We can do it together!
Hi Dancing Angel! Great job. I wish I could do tapes at home, but that just doesn't happen for me. I would never do it.
Lifted weights today and ran two miles on the treadmill!
Melra - welcome back!! Raking leaves is totally a workout! That is why we live in a townhouse and have a yard service
Hi there, Dancing Angel - it sounds as if you had a great workout this morning. Those stability balls are rough. I used to have one, but my DH and my dog played with it until they popped it.
Melissa - no steamroom this morning? Bummer! I love the steamroom even more than the sauna.
Hello All! Not sure how this works, but jumping right in! My goal is to exercise 5-6 times a week, 45 minutes to an hour total each day (preferably at one time, but I'll take it in increments). I watched a fitness show this morning (Weighing In), and that's the regimen the trainer put the participants on. I really want to do stairs, so I'm either going to make a million trips up and down my basement or second floor stairs, or else I'm going to try and find a nice, lengthy set of stairs somewhere else. Anywhoo, enough rambling.
Since I started in this thread today, I'll just post what I've done so far today.
Tuesday, November 8:
20 minutes of free weights (during commercials, lol).
I know that isn't much, but I am planning to go walking this evening. And it felt good to be getting in exercise while watching tv!
Hi DoingIt! Go ahead and jump right in. We just track the minutes we exercise and add them all up at the end of the month. I am trying to top last months total, but really it is just fun to see it all add up.
I did my 35 minute treadmill hill program this morning, then had 15 minutes left for the steam room. Yay!
This morning I did Kathy Smith's workout -- "Fatburning Breakthrough". It is a step workout, with 2 cardio "waves" including light toning and abs. Total is 50 minutes with warm-up and stretch. It's a real good one for making you sweat!
Have a wonderful day, and keep moving and shaking it.
I had wanted to run, but TOM started, and the thought of actually running with these cramps did not seem like fun at all. I also spent 5 minutes in the steam room just relaxing.

Yesterday I walked 12 laps around the track which is 3 miles. It took me a good 45 minutes to get it done. Right now my goal is to just work out 3 days per week; Tues, Thurs, and Sunday. Soooo many times I have been gung ho about working out 5-6 days per week. It will last for about 2 months and then I get really burned out and not work out for a month. Blechhh...don't wanna be doin' that!
This morning I did a video workout -- The Firm Crosstrainer. It is 56 minutes of mostly strength training, some quite intense. It uses various dumbell pairs; I used 3, 5 and 8 pounds. (I'm thinking I need to step SOME moves up to 10 pounds!) It also uses their "fanny lifter," which is a 2-part step. It uses the 8-inch and 14-inch heights. So, I'm feeling pretty virtuous today after using all those muscles!
Dancing Angel, you like workout videos too? I have a collection of about 40 right now. I also noticed your weight loss ticker -- you've lost almost 200 pounds -- that is awesome! Way to stick to it.
Today I did Leslie Sansone's 3 mile walk. So, I'm done with my workouts for the week until Sunday. Feels good to accomplish that.
Ran on the treadmill at the gym - 5km in 31:42. I am pretty happy about it because I felt really good and strong the entire time. I could have run more but I really had to use the restroom
Dancing Angel - I think that is the same Firm workout my sister has - she loves it and does it all the time.
Wazzu - congrats on finishing your workouts for the week!
Thursday is my rest/stretch day. I keep meaning to figure out if my gym has a pilates/yoga class on Thursday. I think that would help with the stretching.
I ran 7 miles this morning. It should have been 8, but I ran out of time and had to be at work. As it is I came in without makeup and my hair wet. It took me 113:11 which are 16 minute miles. I was running at about 13 minute mile pace, but every 9 minutes I walk for 1 so it messes with my time. I burned 639 calories! That is a 1/2 day of food for me. So cool!
I love when this thread gets active. Come on everybody! Get in a great workout before the weekend!
Wazzoo, I LOVE workout videos! Living in a cold climate, I can't always get out, and I don't have time to drive back and forth to the gym. I get up around 4:30am; the house is quiet and I push back the furniture and go for it! It's my special time.
This morning I did a step circuit workout -- Cathe's Body Fusion. It has 3 circuits, the first two being pretty basic but intense enough to get me to sweat. The 3rd circuit is quite intense. There is some toning to break up the cardio portions. It comes up to 50 minutes total. (there are other workouts on the DVD as well) This one is one of my new favorites.
