Melra, I'm walking to and from a program I have to attend every weekday for the next six weeks. It's a half-hour walk there, and I'm committed to NOT using my car! (it's killin' me, darlin')

I'm so tired right now, I can't even READ your posts, but I will assume that you are all doing fabulously, and will try to catch up on the reading soon.
Big hugs for all of you, and keep up the good work!!

Talking yay for me! and yay for us!

ellis-you're doing great! an hour every day is quite a commitment of both time and energy. keep it up!

I ran 20 min continuously tonight for a total of 1.75miles (is that a decent rate?) Honestly, I don't know that I would have done it if you hadn't posted, Melissa! Thank you! I felt sooo proud of myself when I was finished--I totally geeked out at the gym and I was talking (okay, kinda gasping) to myself while I was running "3 more min!" "90 seconds!" and it worked--I ran the whole time, even after I wanted to stop b/c I knew I would be so elated if I went the whole time. I did some of my strength training but some guy was hogging the equipment I needed and I had to go. Don't they know I've got goals to make? sheesh!

wow-I have been sooo much better about working out in the past couple of weeks! All of the exercise has already paid off--I met my very first weight goal!

Woo Melra! You go girl! 20 minutes is excellent!

I would see that 20 minutes and raise you 21, but Thursday is rest day for me. I do the same talk with myself. I think it really helps. When I am actively doing the exercise my inner voice is much nicer.

Glad you are keeping up with your walking Ellis. Get some rest and come catch up. We are doing a great job keeping each other motivated. I didn't really want to stop and do my strength training, but I also didn't want to have to post that I didn't do it. So I stopped and did it.

Wooohooooo!!! Look at all this exercise!!! I'm SOOO impressed

I did take yesterday as my day off. It had to be -- too busy and way too many interruptions. But I got up at 5:15 this morning and did a 45 minute step tape. YAY ME!!! And this is totally weird and embarassing, but I actually got teary eyed when I got up and started moving and started remembering the moves of the tape (it's a fairly new-to-me tape, but I have done it a few times, just not lately) and I realized that I was remembering the routine, and looking forward to the butt-kicking I was about to get (it's a pretty rough tape -- I was pouring sweat at the end!!!). Isn't that weird??? To get all emotional because I was looking FORWARD to exercise??? Anyway, it felt great

Way to go, Melra!!! Go for 21 today!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Melissa, that arc trainer looks WILD!!! Have you ever seen a treadclimber? I'd LOVE to try one of those -- it's a cross between a stepper and a treadmill. Supposed to give a walker a runner's workout. Now THAT is for me!!! Too bad they're 2 grand

Ellis, way to go on that plan for walking!!! You can do it -- and think of the $$ you'll save on gas!!!!

OK, gotta get to work...

Rachel

rachel~ way to go! 45 minutes-good for you! That is way too early in the morning for my night owl self, oy. I've been there on the emotional outburst thing, but mostly it's just me dorking out and wanting to whoop! for myself.

21 minutes, huh? Alright...it's a beautiful day here today sunny 83 normal humidity...I'm going to try to run outside, which is always a little harder for me than the treadmill. 21! At this rate, you guys will have me running for an hour by the end of the month! (I'm just kidding about that-don't get any ideas!)

Melissa~good job on the strength training--glad you made yourself do it!

Last night I decided to jog over to the afterschool care place to pick up my daughter and I took a long roundabout way to try to get in my challenge minutes. I overestimated the distance though, b/c I got there in 19min, so I didn't match my time or Rachel's challenge.

My shoulder is still pretty sore from the other day, so today I'm going to try to get some low to moderate cardio in for like 40min and maybe some abs which I feel I've been slacking on this week compared to last. I used the elliptical machine on a higher power setting and I was amazed at how much it was working my leg muscles and heartrate at even a slow pace, so I'll probably do that.

good luck today everyone on workouts!

You are doing so great Melra! Take it easy on your shoulder, if you like to treat that kind of stuff with heat try Thermacare products. I love them for sore muscles.

I did my upper body workout this morning and just ran my 25 minutes at lunch. It was a 4:1 day, so the most I ran at one time was 4 minutes. I was tempted to try to run the entire 25 minutes, but I just go a new watch with a fancy interval timer. I can set it to beep after 4 minutes then after 1 minute then start over. It is fantastic.

melissa~ when you are doing your intervals, do you use a pretty brisk pace when you're walking, or is it more of a cool down, regroup minute before running again?

It is a fast pace. "Fitness walking" as our coaches call it. When I do it on the treadmill I run at about 4.2 and walk at about 3.8. Hope that helps!
