Here's 3 things to stop doing:
1. Eating grains even whole grains are poison 2. Eating refined sugars this is a huge list of products 3. Eating refined oils this is a bigger list! Don't do those three and you are basically primal! No need for obsessing over counting calories and tracking macros. Comnpletely conquer those three and eat what remains somewhat balanced and you will see results. Here's ten things you should try to do: 1. Eat lots of animals and plants. think of plants as those you can eat raw - no grains 2. Move around a lot at a slow pace. the science is very solid behind this - take a long leisurely walk 3. Lift heavy things. one a week keeps the muscles strong and healthy 4. Run really fast every once in a while. I do this in the pool. It stokes fat burning hormones 5. Get lots of sleep. not so easy for me, but try 6. Play. what a change in my spirit to start playing more 7. Get some sunlight every day. when the sun it out, you should visit it 8. Avoid trauma. good advice here 9. Avoid poisonous things. this includes lots of food stuff 10. Use your mind. read GCBC, then move to the next Reading material on topic is highly motivational for me. Also I live in the Mojave Desert. My little town is known as the Gateway to Death Valley. You all don't know heat. It will be 110+ here for weeks very soon. We consider 100 degrees to be quite pleasant. It was 103 at 9am today. |

And... UGH...I'm melting just reading your temps. I imagine are Canadians are sweating a bit just reading those temps too! |
We actually have an egg frying contest every year. A used car dealer does it. You cook on the hoods of cars. First one with a solid yolk wins a tank of gas. It doesn't take long.
I have a question. What supplements if any is everyone taking? I'm not a fan of supplements, but I keep reading this or that and adding one. I'll list mine later. I'll be on the road for a couple hours. |
My weight may not be coming off as fast as most but I have noticed a difference in my clothes. Last summer I bought new shorts, this summer they are falling off. Today I have an older pair of shorts on & I think they might fit better then when I had bought them. I had a shirt on that I didnt think looked too bad on me then I saw a picture of me in the same shirt & could see a difference in it.
Today I took the kids to the museum. We ate lunch there cuz I knew they would fall a sleep on the way home. I got a turkey wrap for my lunch, did not sneak any frys or chips & drank water. The wrap was not very good & am now hoping that I will not pay too much for eating it. |
Bob; I've been doing some research on supplements as well, keep reading about people on MDA taking them. I'm thinking of starting a fish oil, vitamin D, magnesium. I'm in the process of finding where I want to get them from and if I want to do a krill oil or standard fish oil. What are your thoughts?
Tyma- sounds fun, at least you were inside! You couldv'e done much worse than a turkey wrap, something like that would effect me less than sugar, sugar is my colons worst enemy!TMI! I am waiting to go jogging outside until about 7ish. I'm trying to train some for a 5K that is in my town on Aug 14th, it will be hot, so I've got to start jogging outside to climatize my body, lots and lots of water will be on hand tonight! Nevermind that...its still 98, hitting the treadmill! |
Hi Kara,
Fish oil supplementing is probably the one I read about the most and the worst one to ask me about. No doubt the standard american diet is way too high in omega 6 fats and fish oil seems to balance that nicely, but once gone primal we eliminate the most vile offenders of omega 6 overload (the refined oils). So we naturally solve much of the problem. I do supplement omega 3 after large grain fed beefy dinners. I have eliminated chicken only to make room for fish, which has been enjoyable for me. Swordfish last night was beyond excellent. I got lucky. It was "reduced for quick sale", which can be bad news for fish. I eat a lot of fish and probably pop three low dose omega 3s a week. Some primals obsess about the 3:6 ratio. I am still trying to decide if it is necessary. I do have a recipe for those who love seafood that I call my mega omega 3 salad. I try to make it every weekend. I am the only here who likes it. It is quite fishy, but that's the point afterall. I'll post the recipe if anyone here is sure they love fishy. I'm talking traditional Caesar's dressing with anchovies and it's topped with tuna or salmon or both. |
I want the recipe Bob! Me and fish are best friends, probably due to growing up around water. When I lived in Hong Kong we would pick out just caught fish from holding tanks to feast on! So pass along any fishy goodness!
So I made it to the gym, jogged 1 mile then did some deadlifts and bent rows. It can be so intimidating there when all the muscle heads are in there at night bonding over their metal weights...but I squeezed my way in and did my thing, I never would have done that 6 months ago, even though I could lift then I didn't have the security. I'm starting to think Primal has changed me more than I realized, all that carb fogginess is opening new sides to myself. I also had some great news related to my business today, its a booming! I'm very excited about life right now and I owe a lot of it to the energy Primal living has given back to me. Have a great night! |
My husband researched fish oil for a project at school and came to the conclusion that it like most likely very important. Also that at least a 2:1 ratio is important.
There is a huge fish oil study that will be completed and out in about five years, which will give us a definitive answer about using fish oil as a supplement. I have been reading here but have been very low energy, not knowing what to say. I have been in ketosis for ten days now. I just came out of it r/t feeling dizzy and sweaty at work. I didn't take my blood sugar, but I did drink 4oz oj and within ten minutes I felt MUCH better. Despite my ten days of ketosis, I haven't lost a single pound! Gotta love my metabolism. Takes a licking and keeps on fighting me tooth and nail for every single ounce of fat. :dizzy: I'm not giving up, though. I had to eat what I could during my shift to give myself enough energy, but I;m getting right back into primal. I didn't even stray very far! Just a few ounces of potato and a few ounces of OJ. Man, cheating used to be a big fat cake and pint of ice cream. |
Omega 3 was the first supplement I added back into my primal diet! Then calcium and now I'm working on magnesuim and D and wondering about potassium.
I'm liking my food and have a reliable source for almost everything I want so I entered it in fitday and had a look at what I was lacking. Kathy ... I splashed some juice in my water cup yesterday too. I don't think my blood sugar troubles are behind me just yet. Especially while we're battling this heat! As you said ... at least we're fighting with real food and not processed sugar! Bob ... I'm not sure if sedentary little women need quite that much protein. But at this time of the morning ... I don't recall why I think that. Must have read something somewhere. As for omega ratios ... how do folks figure? I really have no idea how much is in the food I eat. Grassfed beef? store bought eggs? A handful of nuts? It's a crap shoot, so I just take some. If my ratios are better ... well then that's better ... right? Wow, how'd I get to be so laid back about a detail? This from the gal who used to wipe frying pans and weight the papertowel to see how much fat I'd successfully removed! |
I take some supplements, but I can't really "feel" any difference from any of them EXCEPT Vitamin D. I have been supplementing with Vitamin D for probably 6 months and it has made a large difference in my "happiness" quotient. Really.
Of course, it could be a placebo effect, but I doubt it because I often experiment with supplements and Vitamin D is the only one that has had that effect. There is a ton of information on why Vitamin D is good and I can provide references if you're interested. There is lately some concern that Vitamin D and calcium can raise calcium too much and possibly lead to calcium deposits in the coronary arteries. This is addressed here: link to article. That said, other supplements I take: Multi-vitamin Omega 3 Fish Oil CoQ10 (the bio-available active form - Kaneka Ubiquinol) Juvenon (combination of a couple of anti-oxidants) Q-Veratrol (even more anti-oxidants) Things I am thinking about but haven't decided yet: Niacin (for lowering cholesterol) Magnesium Calcium Vitamin K Krill oil (vs. regular fish oil) High-Vitamin Fermented Cod Liver Oil (vs. regular fish oil) |
Good Morning!
Still on board here. Not totally caught up on the 10 Primal Guidelines, not having finished the book yet. I added some fresh michigan blueberries [1/2 cup]to my frittata breakfast and it's the first time in memory that blueberries tasted sweet to me! Made a boo-boo yesterday--I was desperate for fluids in a hot car and guzzled 20 oz. of SoBe Life Water. It felt like I'd been transformed and renewed. I figured I was just that thirsty but when I read the bottle at home to see what the magic ingredient was it had 12 grams of carbs in it--the label touts it as zero calories. Since when is 12gms of carbs 0 calories???? Sheesh! This last week I've been making the change from probably hundreds of grams of carbs a day to maybe 50. There are some issues, intense thirst and bouts of weakness as I jolt and bump along toward "Primality". But the bright side is I haven't had that ghastly depressing bloat I always had before. I have to say that Mark-the Primal Blueprint author--makes it sound so promising if I can get with the plan that my hopes are actually raised. I have felt like walking roadkill for at least five years and I have been doing so much to battle the menopausal decline and not seen much of it work for me. I look in the mirror [the days I have the energy to face it!] and wonder how someone who weighs so little looks so awful! Our family has lived on The Stress Planet for the last 5 years, and I know that's a big part, but I often think that if it feels this bad at 52, I don't want to find out what 75 will be! At any rate, I actually feel a sparkle of hope. Maybe this will work? By the way does this thread have a weigh in day? Happy Friday! Spanky |

Hang in there spanky, it'll get better... |

I get the bloated feeling when I eat a lot of carbs at a time. I am not completely carb free but it is is around 50 or less. I felt guilty after eating the turkey wrap yesterday that I made sure to make a good decision for dinner last nite. I had a salad with shrimp. This morning I had to take DS to get his pass port ordered before it went up in price next week. We also stopped at the chiropractor, when we walked out we were both hungry so we went to Village in for breakfast. I had eggs, sausage, fruit & the strawberry crepes sounded really good so I had one of those as well. I probably should have done without the crepes but..... I will be sure to eat something better tonite. This weekend will not be that great, we are going to a baseball game in Milwaukee. DH work will be having a tail gate party before the game, that will save us some money. I am hoping that they have some good chooses for me to pick from. |
Bob, definitely post your recipe  ...

My supplements: Milk Thistle (daily fasters need for liver health) Zinc (small dose once a week to avoid depletion on a fast) Magnesium (small dose every other night) D3 (5000 IUs every other day depending on sunshine) Omega 3 (small dose with non seafood meals) CoQ10 (once a week) Melatonin (before bed when I remember) Acetyl L Carnitine (with meals) All of these have been sold to me in one article or another. I cannot say I noticed anything about supplementing...until I added the carnitine. I definitely got a nice surge in energy after adding that one, but it was added along with melatonin so I cannot be positive which energized me. I hate taking supplements, but I figure I should be careful with nutrient supply considering the way I fast. I'm probably going to add vitamin C since I don't eat much of it, and maybe a couple others. Sigh. I am not a fan of doing this, but it feels smart. Quote:
I hope this works for you Spanky. So far it has been a life changer for me. The food is just right up my ally. I am so relieved to eat this way and not fear foods I love or eat foods I hate. I thought beating grains would take forever. I no longer crave them and no one really notices me not eating them. I bloated too in the beginning and went through a week of flu symptoms. I thought it was the cabbage, but I remember feeling like a balloon. Hope tailgating was fun Tyma. I miss living closer to civilization. I won't forget the recipe. My mom fed her's to my dog and the dog loved it, so I guess there's two of us around here who like fishy. :) |
Spanky -- I, one of the anal ones, weighs in every day, same time same place...
It's been a good day Primal food wise, I didn't exercise but I moved books and shelves in the library for a few hours today, so I'm calling that my exercise... I was hungry at work all day so I must have been burning some fat  ... |
Look out! I'm awake and feel like chatting but my everyone else is still asleep ;)
Did I tell ya about our restaurant breakfast? DH goes to the same place several times a week. We went to school with Janet who had the foresight to build a coffee/donut shoppe a couple of blocks from here. It's on a truck route that has probably almost 100 kms between restaurants. We think she's brilliant! I went with him the other day and said "I'll have what he's having". Janet herself delivered our bacon, sausage and eggs (no hash browns, no toast) "You eat like this too?" She wanted details! LOL! Let me see ... what else was I going to comment on ... I, too, weigh every day. I used to track salt/fluid retention wrt blood pressure issues. I think it's habit. I hardly fluctuate more than the weight of a pyjama tanktop now. Spanky ... your feelings seem an awful lot like mine did in my mid 40's. I felt antique. I remember crying one day when I realised that I'd have to work for another 20-some years feeling that decrepit! And I only worked part-time then. I'm really believing Sissons stuff about normalizing hormones. Either out of intelligence or desperation :?: And about bloat? Assuming you're talking about puffy water retention. Potato chips last night. More than my fair share of 1 1/2 bags between two of us. Maybe .4 of a pound. As long as it's not grain carbs ... I'm good. And still on the topic of potatoes ... I hobbled to the bathroom this morning on creaking ankles, knees and hips. I was half way there before my back would straighten. Dastardly nightshades! On the topic of anal-retentiveness ... I put all that food into fitday the other day to check micro's and never did look at macro's. I don't even know how many calories it was. Believe it or not! I should be more conscientious about adding supplements. I've added a couple together and am not sure which is having what effect. But something is certainly helping with mood. I've cut my antidepressant dose back again. I think I'm doing OK. And calcium? I changed from cal-mag and D to some of each, thinking that the one tablet was proving too much calcium if I took enough for the mag and D. I was trying to explain this to a friend who said that's exactly what her doctor told her. The potassium I ordered wasn't even here yet when someone spoke to me about antioxidants. Oi! Something else to consider. If Tymaboy is looking for a simple solution to the complex problem of eating summer party food? If it has grain in it ... don't eat it. That's what I'd do. I figure that nothing (for one day) is as bad as it is if you mix it with grains ... and maybe sugar. I might have to play ball hockey today. I don't think my men have enough players. I don't mind being a sub but I'm not hanky on the idea of having to play my fair share of a whole tournament! I'm not very sporty. Holy novel Mr Dickens! Best move along and do something else ... like maybe moderate something while I'm here :lol3: One more thing for Ilene ... I bought a box of red wine yesterday and it made me homesick for you  |
Susan,
Thank you for saying that about hormones and your forties!!!! I'm forty four and I've been blaming my multitude of problems on hormones (and I suspect I'm writing). The good thing about going through all that is that I've found this way of eating and I'm exercising regularly both of which help me sleep better and that helps ALOT! Anyway, you posting that was more amo for me to tell my gyne next time I see her. I haven't found one that takes me seriously yet. Still looking for a good one. By the way, Susan, did all this crappiness go away or did you just get used to it? Just wondering. Right now my hormones are better behaved. (hehe). Off to a family reunion.......no bad carbs, no bad carbs, no bad carbs. Have a good weekend all of you!! |
Oh man yes! I feel much better. I can easily get through a days work. I can out lift almost anybody :) even the young ones. I still have hot flashes but no mood swings. And I think I can work another ten years or so.
Hey, I played hockey and our team are the champions! I'll post some pics on facebook. |
I'm not very picture savvy but here we go ...
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a34...key2010075.jpg We won the "A" Division!!! Those old people on the right? That's us :) |
Hey there.
Could I be past this 'carb flu' already?? I'm feeling great! What amazes me so far is how long I can go on these types of meals. I'm not constantly sniffing around for another bagel to snatch just to get me to lunch! This morning I had some braised pork and 1/2 cup of blueberries and proceeded to run my 4 year old into the ground! Yes. I am going to be 53 this month and I have a 4 yr. old son--this is the main reason something has to change! I got up and tried to do my usual round of weight lifting in a more primal way--faster with each round of weights heavier. Breakfast. Then off for my son's first visit to a Farmers Market. I was able to find two sources of organic meats [much to my surprise]...Then to the Cathedral for a visit. On to the Ice Cream Garage to watch the kid down a cup of Peanut Butter Chunk ice cream. I wasn't even tempted--I had a bottle of water. Home--he got lunch and a nap. I had some tuna salad. Then we went to a pizza party/Birthday cake event for Great Gramma. I had water. I am simply astonished at the lack of constant hunger! Right now is more braised pork and a pot of summer squash from the Farmers Market. I think what made me wander into considering this way of eating was watching my husband become a diabetic. Two years ago he was actually diagnosed as a late, Type 1 diabetic. One day his pancreas simply began to die. He had to scramble to keep up with what was actually a new pancreas every day. He got so serious about dealing with it that he began to eat nearly primal overnight because it was the safest thing to do. And lost every ounce of his extra weight. I never believed him saying it was not that hard to resist sweets. Hmph. I guess I get it now. I do weigh in daily and just for fun took a set of measurements this morning. I'll post my new weight on Monday. Oh please--- let this last! Spanky :crossed: |
Sorry, I sorta went off....I wanted to say:
Susan--way to go on the hockey gig! Was this ice hockey or street hockey? Or is that a dumb question considering you're in Ontario? Bob--thank you so much for the encouragement, you're a great "Primal Ambassador"! Ilene--Menopause at this point is waaay better than peri-menopause. A few hot flashes but far less bingeing. Supplements Recommended by my Dr: Calcium Vitamin D--Just started this one Flax Oil [another source of the Omega-3's without the "Aquarium-flavored after burp"] Multi Vitamin And I use Morton's Lite Salt which is half Potassium Chloride and half Sodium Chloride Okay. Maybe now I've got too much energy...? G'night! spanx |
Susan -- just wanna say, you are adorable!! you look so tiny, and I love your hair (pulled back or cut short?). Very youthful and cute pic!
|
Susan ... you are gorgeous and tiny.
Kathy ... I think the best thing we can do is just keep going. Even though I am a slow weight loser, I look back and see how far I have come and can't help but continue. That's why I have that little saying near my ticker "keeping the win at my back". The way I look at it, I've already won a lot. If I just keep going forward it can only get better. I read on these boards somewhere about a woman who looked at her journey as a train ride. The train was going to the destination ... she really didn't need to do anything but stay on that train. I'm planning to stay on this train and get there! And I will. Of course, I have to "talk" to myself sometimes about this when I get down, my own personal pep talk. And you folks help me too. Wildviolets ... I'm almost 60 (arghghhg, how did this happen?) Totally past menopause and feel super. I often have 40-years-olds flirting with me (at least I *think* I do, LOL, and that's what counts, right???) Ilene ... I weigh every day also. Keeps me honest ... and is part of the *habit* stuff discussed below. BibBob ... recipes always welcome. Spanky ... it will last! The lack of driving hunger is amazing and the best part of this way-of-life. I remember years ago when I was on Weight Watchers (different from today’s WW) I lost 40 pounds and I was *starving* all the time. I did it through sheer white-knuckle willpower. But how long can a person sustain a fight with their own body? In doing lowish carb, "real" food of course you can overeat but it’s not because you’re *driven* to it by your body. So, for me, I have just tried to make this way-of-life a habit. I read this quote and like to think about it because for me *rules* equate to willpower which can succumb in a weak moment; *habits* are just everyday life and I have decided Primal is what is normal. It feels normal and right, don't you think? Habits are safer than rules; you don't have to watch them, and you don't have to keep them, either. They keep you. ~ Frank Crane |

Spanky -- Menopause is definitely better than peri-menopause... I feel great now... Well, yesterday DH and I went to Montreal, food wise the day was not primal and I am feeling the effects today, I'm constantly hungry and eating badly  ... For supper tonight I'll have to have lots and lots of veggies and protein... But we did a ton of walking in Montreal. I love Montreal, the people are so unique I love to sit and people watch and we did that a couple of times throughout the day... DH went on-line the night before and found a walking tour of a section of Montreal we had never seen.... We had breakfast at a cafe, went to a museum, had a beer in another cafe, walked to Old Montreal, took us 45 mins or so so we had another beer at a cafe we were hungry again by then so we had cranberry nachos OMG the best nachos I've ever had... Then we came home walked to an outdoor concert had a beer there and walked back home... Geez I was tired of walking  ... Today I am pooped, I did run/walk for 50 minutes this morning and did some abs too, but other than that I am drained from yesterday... |
Just got back from Milwaukee. Yesterday at lunch we were at a mall that did not give me much choose as to what to eat. I got another wrap, ate a little more then half of it & not even a handful of frys. My belly felt bloated for hours afterwards. This morning we had a late breakfast which I went with an omelet & did not eat the Am. fries that came with it.
I have decided to try my hand in running with my son. Tomorow nite will be my 1st run with him. Last time I tried it did not go over very well. |
Hey There,
The Carb Flu seems to have returned for a few hours despite no carb increase. Guess it'll take a while. I'd just broiled my first batch of "Organic Beef" and suddenly don't feel good enough to eat. And TIRED. There's always tomorrow! I'm posting my weigh in results on Monday--my best to all and to all a Good Night! Spanky |
Spanky ... road hockey ... if we were playing on ice they would never have asked me to play. I think I had skates on once in about 1991 :D
It was quite hot ... 90-ish. The nurse in me was shooing people into the shade and making sure they drank lots. We changed the date to earlier in the summer because we usually fry out there in August. Didn't really work very well. Maybe we should have tried the egg on the sidewalk thing. The kids would have liked that DH played real hockey later. There's a fabulous "Y" near here that has an icepad year round. |
Just went back & read some posts that I missed during the weekend. Hockey sound fun. I never played. DS tried it once & he did pretty good, he got a goal right away.
ANy recipes posted would be great! DS was talking about cutting out junk food & watching what he eats as well. I told him he should go on my diet but he's not too keen on all the fruits & veggies that I have been eating. I hopped on the scale this morning, it was nice to me. I think all the walking we had done this weekend helped me. I was pretty nervous cuz I ate pizza last nite (not alot) DS told me I should eat some carbs since we will be running tonite. He told me that I should eat some carbs the nite before we run & not eat carbs the rest of the time. I told him I will eat some carbs at dinner time but not any other time, I will see how that makes me feel. I dont know how it will work. If it doesnt work out then I will go back to 50 or less carbs a day. |
Hey Tyma: If you go the carb route before running, try to eat sweet potatoes or a starchy veggie rather than grains. I don't eat more carbs on my wkout days but thats me, my body seems to learned to burn my fat for fuel pretty good by now.
So I dropped 4 lbs this week! yay! I ended up with tonsillitis on fri, sat, sun and starting to recover today. I'm finally able to speak again normally and swallow without the agony. I haven't been exactly primal because all I could get down was orange juice and some sugar free jello, but I've made sure I didn't eat any grains or sugar other than what was in the juice and I even limited it. I couldn't believe I was sitting there in misery thinking about how many carbs was in each glass of orange juice I had. I'm being beckoned... |
Hey kocean, me too! I actually lost 4 pounds last week, my first week of Primal eating. I know it's probably a lot of fluid, but I'll take it. I don't expect such drama this week but......yippee!:dancer:
Just delighted. So far so good! Spanky |
Quote:
:wave:goodbye 4lbs! Its weight, no matter water or what, I'll always take it! CONGRATS! |
That's a big old trophy Susan! Congrats!
Good job on the weight loss Kara and Spanky. I've been dealing with some indirect stress, mental health of my brother, physical health of my mother, extreme summer boredom of my daughter. Bah. I am in a groove IF-ing every other day yet feeling plateaued, still happy to wait to weigh. I'm also finding the appetite control of calorie restriction combined with the satiety of primal eating has pretty much killed any desire for food. I'm fasting 36 hours without a single craving, just some thirst. I have to convince myself to eat. I feel great though. My mom really is an incredible Italian cook, very old school, very authentic, surprisingly primal. She made her meat sauce yesterday with rigatoni, but instead I steamed some zucchini and made zucchetti. It is really good. All I ate yesterday was a couple bowls of that and a couple slices of smoked pork leftover from the weekend, and a decent amount of yogurt and strawberries. So my total calories for the past three days (2 of them IFs), is about 1200. Um, crazy as it sounds, I am just not hungry. This is a touch involved but here's the Mega Omega 3 Caesar's Salad: You need a small cookie sheet and two large bowls. Roughly chop one bunch of spinach, half a head of romaine and two omega3 hard boiled eggs. Grate 4 oz. of any omega 3 cheddar (grass fed is fine if you want to spend the $, but there's plenty of 03 cheese on the market now). Toss all together, cover with moist paper towel and refrigerate. Mix 4 oz. of chopped walnuts with one 7.5 oz can of salmon and 1/2 cup parmesan cheese. Spread thinly on a cookie sheet and gently heat at 225 degrees until the rest of the salad is ready. A pie pan will work fine. This tops the salad when complete. Put the below into a processor and mix until everything is chopped, but just before becoming a smooth paste. 1 clove garlic 2 sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil 8 smoked anchovy fillets 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard 5 sprigs chopped parsely Freshly ground pepper, to taste Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon splash of balsamic vinegar splash of red wine vinegar In a large salad bowl whisk the following until you have a creamy texture *2 coddled omega 3 eggs 1/3 cup virgin olive oil 3 tbs flax oil This is like making mayo, so whip the eggs first, and very slowly add the oil. A broken mayo texture is fine though. Coddled eggs are placed in warm water, brought to a boil and removed in one minute. They will not be cooked, but they will emulsify with the oil much easer. Now add the paste to the emulsification and whip until the dressing clings to the sides of the bowl. Dump in the lettuce mixture and toss until nicely coated. Top with toasted walnuts/salmon/parm mixture. Eat. |
Bob that sounds really good! The zucchetti sounded good too. I need to remember to substitute a veggie like that instead of pasta.
Just got back from my run. Ran almost a mile. Doesnt sound like much but I actually made it farther then the last time I ran. |
A chiffonade of cabbage is actually my favorite pasta replacement. Lightly salted and sauteed in butter, to me anyway, it's an improvement on that tasteless slimy wheat based stuff.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ad-CmPNc6H...chiffonade.bmp That salad is very fishy. Just a warning. |
Tymaboy--go you!. I really miss running [had a failed foot reconstruction and have never even attempted it since...].
Bob-- How to you slice the cabbage so finely--in a chopper machine thing or just patiently with a knife? I'd like to try that. I've used spaghetti squash in place of pasta too. I spent part of the evening on the MDA site researching the "Lift something" aspect of this program. Found a great thread about a guy who used SimpleFit for his workout and had some amazing before and after pix. The workout uses body weight and you don' need machines or weights. I may use it as part of my weights routine, it is so simple. If anyone is curious, here's the link: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum...Primal-Workout The pix are pretty inspiring for such an easy sounding routine! spanks |
I'm impressed by a mile of running!
And by the recipes .... And by the weight loss! |

:bravo: EVERYONE!!! Just gonna print off that recipe first though  |
Good afternoon. I'm all ready for work and just sipping coffee waiting for it to be time to leave.
Hey folks? Do you think this primal thread is in the right place? In carb counters? Got any better ideas? General diet plans maybe? |
