Just wanted to let you all know that I've been lurking here over the past couple days or so and am learning from you all. Thanks so muc. I just started keeping a FitDay log (well, I did have one about 3 years ago...) yesterday. Shocking actually when you see it on paper - and of course I didn't have my best day. Today is better. If I have any questions about calories/exercise I hope you don't mind me crashing in here?:^: My babies are sick and I cannot make it to the gym - probably for a week or so since there's a "no green snot" policy in the kids room. I detest working out at home, so this is a good challenge for me. I did get out some exercise Dvd and plan to do 1 while they are napping. Thanks again for this helpful thread!

:welcome: to new faces!

Ask away, momto2! You'll find a lot of help here. :)

grapecoffee, if you don't mind me asking...um, "grapecoffee"? Is there such a thing? I can't imagine what that might taste like...well, I guess grape coffee but...where do you find it? Oh, I'll just hush now. :o

momto2, I've got a sick little one at home today also. The activity level has been ZERO here today. I'm not a gym person but getting up and finding a child sick has just thrown the day totally outta whack. :)

Carri - thanks for the welcome. Hope your little one gets better soon. We all had the stomach bug last month. I just did Walk Away The Pounds - the 3 mile one - but the last mile I was holding Melina! Extra calories burned, you think?

I think it's funny on FitDay that they have Breastmilk's nutritional value listed!! I wonder if poeple track their babies diets??

Nori71 01-17-2006 04:16 PM

Oops, I read that your child had thrown up--not that your day was thrown out of whack!

or worse..

Hello, and welcome.. by the way

I ate like a hog yesterday. I was doing quite well ...until my grandparents showed up to take me out to eat.. and then I had a few (?) beers with my dear boyfriend. Almost 2000 cal yesterday.. yikes!!

I did, however, weigh myself today for the Valentine's Day challenge and have lost another pound. Which makes two.. which sounds like nothing.

Two is good - just envisage two nasty great lumps of lard, a pound each, sitting on your bed that aren't hanging off you any more!!

Two is great!

I've noticed in fitday it seems like the calorie calculations they come up with is really high! I've always been told that it is good to eat a 1500-1700 calorie diet, but according to my fitday i burn over 2300 a day! That seems a bit high to me. I could be wrong though or course. I've been playing around a bit on nutridiary...it's pretty much like fitday but a bit more colourfull :) i like it!

So today i've decided that I NEED to figure out a way to stop eating chocolate! :dizzy: Ive got the worst sweet tooth i swear. That's my biggest problem right now with my diet. I think i am going to try and go a month without eating chocolate. None at all. I find when i have just a taste, next thing i know it im chowin' down a chocolate bar. I'm sure you guys can all feel my frustration on this one. I think like i said though, starting tomorrow, no more chocolate. Wish me luck :grouphug:

Flossy Girl - two pounds...yes it does sound like nothing...but two pounds IS ALOT. If a pound is 3500 cals, then you just dropped 7000 calories girl! That is awesome! Good job, keep up the great work!

Welcome all new comers :) Hope you enjoy the thread

grapecoffee 01-17-2006 10:17 PM

grapecoffee came about in 1996. I was getting my first email account on hotmail and all the names I wanted were taken. (LOL Thank God I don't need one now) I was eating grapes and staring at a Maxwell House coffee can and saying I need a name I need a name... grape...coffee... that should work! And if I ever get rejected for a user name I always use grapecoffee, works every time. :)

Personally I would never try grapecoffee, I imagine a sortof grapenut thing though :p

Thanks and I hope you didn't take offense to my asking. Handles don't usually pop out at me but yours did. I tried to avoid asking but I just had to know.

DH is from the northwest and has tried many different flavors but I had never heard him talk about grape. :D

Maxwell House Trivia - The coffee was named after the grand Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, TN where, in the late 1800s, was just known as the house coffee. Teddy Roosevelt was staying at this hotel and indulging in the house coffee when he proclaimed it to be "good to the last drop". Now, it's known as "Maxwell House: good to the last drop." The grand Maxwell House Hotel has since burned down but the hotel was rebuilt and still stands just a few miles away. :D

Oh, I almost forgot :dizzy: my deficit yesterday was just 80.

LynneA 01-18-2006 10:42 AM

Good Morning :)

My deficit yesterday was 339 even though I didn't make it to the gym.

Hoping for another good eating day today.

Nori71 01-18-2006 11:25 AM

OK, I'm sure it's some simple math you all do to find your calorie deficit? Can someone help me figure it out. Or is it somewhere on FitDay? In the past I've done the "take your desired weight, multiply by 12 and the resulting number is your calories" ... how different is that? I apologize if this has already been asked...but I didn't see it browsing around. (I'm thick headed today after only 4 broken up hours of sleep last night with my sick kiddos...which means I started eating hours earlier today also!!)
