Can I get into your group? I've tried every diet plan out there, but deep down inside I know the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat less than I burn. I've signed up on fitday and am going to give it a try. Need as much support as I can get. Hoping I can join you guys.

Beth welcome you will find alot of help and support here

Susan - I agree with you on the daily weighing..I do the same exact thing....weigh first thing every morning and look at what I ate and what exercises I did..

Hey guys, I'm new and would love to join you. I started counting calories Jan 3rd and im already down 8 pounds! I'm totally pumped.

General question.... do you guys weigh yourselves everyday? I know that you are not supposed to, but my weight flucuates so much, im nervous if i only weigh myself once a week or whatever that it will happen to be a 'fat day' as i like to call them, and that i will lose motivation!

Anyway i'll kind of introduce myself. People just call me jazz really. I'm 23 and ever since i quit dancing, i have bloated up a little. I'm not trying to lose alot like some people on this site. Im a chocoholic and cookie monster and thats my biggest struggle!

Well i guess i will talk to you all soon!
Jazz

I'd like to join. I've always counted calories in my head, but fitday will help me really track it. I'm starting tomorrow b/c I can't remember what I ate today. But I'm sure once I start I'll have plenty of questions.

I read the whole thread and I'm intrigued about this baby food thing lol

srmb60 01-13-2006 10:16 PM

Hi newbies! I'm doing a quick drive by because I'm on my way to bed. But I wanted to welcome you both. Keep reading there is soooo much to learn here at 3fc. And ask questions! We'll answer.

dgpebbles 01-14-2006 12:44 AM

Ok so I bought some of the baby food and tried it on my sandwich that I took to work...I really liked it...It made it moist with a small kinda kick to it....I was just eating them dry cause I didn't want the extra fat...I used the mix veg flavor....I'm thinking about mixing it in tuna...Thanks Susan for the idea to use baby food as a sauce/gravy

srmb60 01-14-2006 08:28 AM

Donna? .... for moistness on a sandwich! What a good idea! Clever way to sneak in an extra veggie, huh? I think I learned that from BFLcat.

I only had a 250 calories deficit yesterday. The only 'cardio' I did was housework. And in the evening I was starving!

Jazz? ... I weigh myself everyday. But I'm a detail person. I get up, void, strip and step on the scale. I've learned a lot about how my body works with regard to hormones, water, salt ...

jazztap10 01-14-2006 11:45 AM

Baby food in sandwichs?? Never heard of this before. Is this in replace of mayo? If it is i think i might try it. That is a really good idea. Baby food looks/smells so unapetizing though! YUCK heh :)

Thanks for the info Susan. I think ill weigh myself everyday then.

So how many calories do u guys generally shoot for in a day? Or rather, what number do you try not to hit.

srmb60 01-14-2006 12:58 PM

Calories per day? You got me wondering so I went to fiday and got an average. For the past two weeks I'm averaging 1450 per day. Not bad!

My average deficit is around 400. I'm actually pretty happy with all that.

 Hi everybody! I want to join y'all.

I started my diet on 1/4/06. I started a food diary on FitDay to keep track of everything Im eating. It sure has helped.

Out of curiosity, I checked to see how many calories I was eating before the diet. It was around 3,000 a day. A lot of that was soft drinks. Those are gone now and Im averaging 1500 a day with healthier foods. :carrot:

Im down 4 lbs!!!!! :goodscale

Awesome Anita and welcome. Feel free to share your successes (and anything else) with us here. It's really a pretty nice little group.

Hi!
Well, I have decided to join this thread. I have been reading it for days, and thought I should take the plunge and commitment and just do it. I have been using fitday for a while, but one and off.. my goal is to use it every darned day.
I started seriously trying to diet on Jan. 6. So I am relatively new here. Then managed to get sick and unmotivated for a few days.. so I in all actuality I am brand new.

I am trying to figure out what my lifestyle should be on fitday so I can accurately calculate my calorie deficit. I work at an assisted living facility and am on the move all day (according to my pedometer I walk an average of 8 miles a day at work).

1dayatatime 01-14-2006 06:14 PM

Why not just set it at sedentary and input your activities everyday, including how long you walk at work? I checked on my fitday and no matter where you have your lifestyle set, entering walking 2.5 mph for 6 hours burns 762 calories. The activities number also lowers your lifestlye number as you can only count holding yourself upright once.

Personally, I would rather underestimate how many calories I'm burning and be pleased with unexpected weightloss rather than expect I should have lost 4 pounds and I've only lost 1 or 2.

Welcome, btw!!! Glad to have you here! I've been considering posting my deficit here also - I just need to hurdle making it public. :)

srmb60 01-14-2006 07:21 PM

I totally endorse everything Carrie said!

And I welcome you both!

Oh and Aimee? I use something under 'occupation' that actually has 'nursing' in it. It's probably pretty close to what you do too. Care-giving, lifting, walking ... ya know?
