Milly welcome aboard! This is a good site and counting calories seems to be the only way to keep it off. I use some thoughts and ideas from other diets but count the calories. Its easier than people think. Good luck to you and your journey!
Yesterday I never went to work out due to being on the opposite side of town than my gym. But no excuses today I am going to get there. I have preplanned my menu for the day sometimes I have found that to be helpful. This weekend we will go out for our first camping of the year. We bought a popup last year its much easier for the hubby whom enjoys camping so much. I have set it up for the whole season hopefully. Then just have to pack up food and clothes. I hope to do some walking, fishing and relaxing. It will be a hard weekend to count calories but I have done some preplanning of snacks, fruit, pita bread etc. Hope your all having a nice day. Pray for sunshine this weekend!

Hi ladies

Welcome Milly~ Aphil is our Mod and full of great advice and knowledge. I would say at your weight to do 1400 -1500 cals a day. I lost my weight eating healthier foods in smaller portions more times a day and never counted but as I approach my goal weight I find it helps me stay OP and in check. Exercise of course goes hand and hand with better food choices. Good Luck!

Hi Holly have you seen the "delivery guy" since your last encounter? I know that makes you feel good....I work in a engineering office and it is 98% men. I am always getting complements when I have had a loss or wear a new shirt....It sure helps me keep at it, not wanting to gain anything back!

I don't know why or if it is water but I have gained 1lb! I was so sad to see that 149 on the scale! I am in early PMS so maybe is is water? I have also been slacking a little on my work outs. With all the yard work and long work hours...I have been getting in this bad routine of skipping a day here and there and cutting it 5-10 minutes short. That is not that bad but that has gone from one week to 3 and then I get lazier! My energy is low right now? I didn't get to work out Friday because we had a graduation after work then did 30 minutes on my elliptical Saturday and kept wanting to cut it down to 20 or 25 minutes! I didn't get to work out Sunday but was out in the yard for 2 hours scrubbing the pool with my DD. I was so "give out" after all that scrubbing! So I didn't do my Pilates. Sunday night I got 4 hours of sleep then Monday up at 4:45 AM to work....on my way home a wreck on the only bridge into my town in traffic for 1 hour and 45 min!! I got home late cooked and gave my DD a shower and it was 9:30 PM so I went to bed with working out. I did do a 20 minute fast walk at lunch yesterday and I walk 3 1/2 city blocks into work and back to my car every day. I am eating to plan but have been grabbing a chip or fry while cooking for my family..... or halfing an oatmeal little debbie with my DD...LOL that was only once over the weekend. I know we all go through cycles. I need to get my energy level back up and kick it back in gear. With 23lbs left I can not stop here! Help......I feel a little disappointed in my self but I am hanging in there. It is soooo hard to shuffle everything!

Hope you are all having a good week and are OP! I have to get up there tonight and do no less than 30 on that elliptical!!!

Amie

Morning everyone!

Hi Milly! Welcome!!! What is your age range, and your activity level all day and at work, and your exercise? This will help me to suggest a calorie range for you.

Lisi-hope you get the internet back up and running soon!

I have been pretty busy. I am sewing the new summer costume tops for the troupe, and I helped DH with the yardwork last night as well. Tonight I have my private lesson. We have a performance out of town on Saturday with a workshop. So Saturday I will be up early, early in the morning driving to the workshop, dancing and learning all day, and then getting ready for the performance that night and driving home afterwards. I will be leaving at about 6am and returning home around midnight I would imagine.

So, as always I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

Hi ladies,

Millie~ WELCOME to the group, the more the merrier Counting calories and excersising is definately the way to go and you will get ALOT of support here, it is full of amazing women!

Holly~ How cool on the admirer always a good way to boost the self esteem, good for you!!

Amie~ You hang in there, you have come such a long way and I know you will make it, working outside in the yard is good excersise to, so if you dont get up there to do your excersising for the night dont fret about it, its not like you didnt do anything all day!! I know how you feel on the "munchin" I am so bad when it comes to that, when I go for something I have to keep reminding myself of what I use to look like and do I want to look like that again, it dont work sometimes but for the most part it does! I have a pic of myself when I was at my heaviest on my dresser and I look at that everyday, it really helps to keep me OP. What is going on with you probably is the early PMS, I cant see you gaining a whole lb back if you are still being "almost" as active, (hehe) I could see it if you havent excersised all week, you will drop it back off, have faith And as far as the commute, get a motorcycle, then you could go around people easier and you can get a nice tan, just change before you leave the office

Everything is going good here, trying to stay OP, I didnt excersise last night but I will do my elliptical tonight while Idol is on. I have tried to do good on my food, I have had a couple of "naughties" over the weekend but I have delt with it (I think, hehe)

Well take care everyone and stay OP, and PLEASE could you all do one little thing for me, PLEASE PRAY FOR SUN for us up here in Maine, this is going to be the 6th weekend in a row with rain and we are having rain straight through until at least next wednesday Im not kidding when I say "it is driving everyone mad up here (I wish there was a "Im ripping my hair out of my head" smily but on a lighter note, the ark is coming along very nicely

Later
Lori

Amie hang in there just take a look at where you were in the past and how great you've done. Sometimes we do get in these cycles as you said. I kind of got in one myself recently. To get out of it I had to give myself a push to write down my calories and exercise. Sometimes I just est. and it can get me in trouble. I always gained around my time of month it also gave me the munchies. I have learned to set my treadmill at how long I wanted to work out. That way to start with I had a commited time on there. I have also tried different programs on the treadmill for some variety in my workout. Good luck and I know your going to get right back on track!
Millie welcome aboard! This is a good site hope you enjoy posting here.

Milly ~ I hope I said welcome and if not WELCOME Let us hear from you.

While in Wichita, I had a checkup w/cardiologist and I'm down 5+ lbs. He said my face and neck looked thinner.

Have I mentioned that 2004 a hole was discovered in my heart. I had it repaired with "device closure" in NY. This procedure is done a lot by pediatricians and I went to one in my native area Long Island at St. Francis heart hospital. They do it with a catheter through the groin (I finally learned exactly what that was) so I had no open heart surgery. I was running around the next day after ambulatory heart surgery!!!!!!

I do feel more energy now and gotta go walk my time.

I guess every 10 lbs will give me more energy. Whenever I pack a suitcase I notice how heavy 50 lbs is. Previously, when the baggage limit was 70#, I recall filling a suitcase and worrying that it was too heavy. It was a really heavy load for me to lift. Well, I weighed it and it was only 50#. And my heart and bod is carrying that suitcase all the time.

This pc is slow and I gotta get out
Amie ~ you're on top of things and in touch. NOrmies say a 5 lb fluctuation is normal. With us , we gotta watch carefully. 1 step back 2 forward. That was one terrible day you had, sleepwise.

Aphil ` take care on your trip

. Keep reading and writing. Check in daily if you can.

Carol, I forgot to second everything you said. Writing the food down and noting the calories - not in my head - keeps me from "eating in the dark". And with the exercise and good choices, I can eat a lot!

Default Benefits Of Getting Off The Pounds

Hi all,
I meant to mention that when I cut my toenails, it was definately easier to reach. Also my wedding band is getting looser (which means it will fit right). When it gets too loose I will get out the engagement ring that doesn't fit now, and use it as a ring guard. I lost one of the 3 diamonds and never replaced it, because I didn't want to have that ring made larger. It was purchased on the romantic trip to India, when DH proposed to me in a Palace there.

Love

Hello All!

I also count calories, aim for as many fruits and veggies as possible and build my diet around fiber-rich, nutrient-dense foods. I drink around a gallon of water a day, eat whole foods and no refined sugars or artificial sweeteners, colors or preservatives. I exercise about 15 hours a week, split up between cardiovascular exercise, yoga and weight training with swimming thrown in here and there for fun and variety (plus it's time I get to play with my daughter and feel weightless/pain-free!).

I have cramps today (it's my TOM) so am going to go to the gym with a friend and do all cardio and no weights. Later, when I take my daughter to her fitness class, I will go swimming first and *might* take an aqua aerobics class. Then tonight, I have yoga from 7:15-9:30, so it's really quite an active day for me! Packing the day with exercise is one good way to avoid giving in to the cravings I get during my cycle!

Have a blessed day, all!

Not a nasty or negative one, I swear! I am a "Vixen" like Jessica Rabbit is a "Vixen"...a "Vamp", a voluptuous, sexy, earthy belly-dancing Moon Goddess!

I realize that *technically* "vixen" has a bit of a different meaning, but in *my* context, it means "Sultry Goddess", which wouldn't fit and doesn't begin with a "V" anyway

Trust me, I am a peacemaker, not "quarrelsome" at all!
