Thanks very much for the welcome! Aphil, I think you're right, I do need to up the calories but wander around the kitchen looking for things to eat, and nothing seems to add up to very much! Today I have the whole day planned and I'm only up to 938. That stinks! I'll have a spoonful of peanut butter or something and try to find some more things.
I've been a little sick and am now on steroids, which scares me because every other time I've taken them I've gained a little. Well, this morning I was down another 2 (probably all the water?) and so I'm puzzled. Anyway, I'll see what happens. Yesterday the doctor told me I should just tone up what I've got. I'm 5'7" and even at 150, wear a very comfy size 8 so maybe I'll stop trying to lose for a while and work on the toning.

HI Holly........you'll never guess what happened this morning. After telling you to slow down I got a ticket! God, I am so mad at my self. $150.00! Can you believe it...LOL
HI Lori.....I would rather gain a few pounds and work at it later to loose it again than to go to the doctor one day and find out that you have a spot on your lung or that cough is the big "E"! I hope you can do it.....I really do. If your mom can do it you know you can. I have been working on my DH for years to quit before it is too late.

I am OP been doing lots of hard labor in the yard! Planted my veggies this weekend and that has been my weekend exercise and still doing elliptical and Pilates during the week days. My legs and arms are so sore after digging in the yard pulling weeds!
After 4 weeks at 152.0 I dropped a 1/2 pound. It isn't much but just to see a move makes me happy! So I am glad to say I am now at 151.6...Come on 140's!! This last 20 lbs is the hardest!

Lori - Great for you on the smoking. I quit for New Years (actually Christmas Day) and just made it to four months. Just keep trying, just like dieting, some days will be better than others.
Kathy - I was doing too low of calories too, upped them to 1300 - 1500 and the weight really started moving faster. Your body needs to know that you aren't starving it.
I 've been having a really good time lately. I have been OP consistantly and have been losing weight!!! I dropped another 5 pounds this week, of course I upped my running by 15 minutes a day so it may be water weight lost that will come back, but I will take whatever I get!
It's getting darn hot here so I am getting up at 4:00am to run, which makes me want to eat more. Anyone else want to eat when they are tired? What do you do?
anthemfamily~ "4 AM run"! You go girl! You are doing great. I wish I could see a 5 lb loss in a week even in two weeks! I have been working out and staying OP but have slowed down to 1/2 lb to 2lbs a month. It really is harder to loose the last of it. I am having a hard time upping my work outs with such limited time! I really admire runners.
Just stopped by to say hi. Finally got in a good 40 min walk yesterday after 10 min Mon and missing Tuesday. It really makes a dif.
Then I don't want to eat as much after working so hard to burn those calories.
Hey everyone! It's been a while since I have posted. I've been reading though. Everyone seems to be doing so well! I came back from my vacation and had some difficulty getting back on track but I am definitely there now. I did gain a few pounds back while on vacation but I'll work it off one way or another
I had some great experiences this last week. It's funny how we feel like we are doing this for ourselves, but really when we improve ourselves we can influence others in a positive way. My parents came to visit me before our trip and we hadn't seen each other since XMas. My mom couldn't get over the change in me and could really tell that I had lost (which was nice to hear, since I've lost so slowly the people I work with don't really notice unless I wear a new outfit or something). Anyways I talked to her this weekend and she joined a gym with a personal trainer and everything! She said that after seeing me, she became inspired and she decided she could do it too and wanted to improve her health as well! I am so happy considering she has never taken any exercise seriously...and I'm happy that I had something to do with her wanting to better herself. She even wants me to work out with her the next time we go to visit!
Another little lift I received was last night. My husband came home laughing because he was talking to a co-worker who told him "I hope you dont mind me saying this...but your wife is hot!" I can't remember the last time someone (besides my husband) made a comment like that! Made me feel 21 again....for a few minutes anyway!
I have done good staing OP for the week, YAY, I was nervous because of the quitting smoking but I have done good, and it has taken ALOT of will power to stay OP to I can feel myself feeling better though. Just need to start drinking more water though. Well I have been drinking alot of Propel fitness water, the berry flavored, yummay, so I figure that is better than diet soda or juice or something.
Elyse~ I am so much like you in the aspect of not eating after I excersise, all I think is I just threw what I did out the window cause I am putting the calories right back on! Good for you on 40 minute walking!!
Kathy~ Congrats on the 2 lb loss. Hope you feel better soon! God dont I wish I was 5 ' 7 I think your at a great weight for your height, a size 8 is good!

Jacklyn, Thats great that your mom joined a gym! I wish my mom could so she could loose some of her weight but she was in a bad car accident 4 yrs ago and now her legs are real bad! I try to get her out as much as possible, so she can get in some walking. Tell your mom I said Good Luck

Lori, was that you about the smoking? I'm so happy when I hear that. It has such an effect upon health. It took me two tries to stop, depending upon whether I was dating a smoker or not. Now I see so much of it in Wichita, I can't believe it (Savannah is temporary for us). Conversely, when on Long Island recently, I asked for the non-smoking section and the waitresses laughed.........it's all non-smoking. Progress over there.
Good day so far. We went out for Indian food and I literally prayed not to eat too much and not to have dessert. Did well - had a lot of veggies, which are saucy, but still, its veggies. And the dessert they had out on the buffet was one I don't like!!!!! (not too many of those)
Walked for almost an hour before too, a pretty slow pace because it was noontime and getting pretty warm. Did over 2 miles, I know.
We're waiting to hear from my step-daughter if she's had the 3 week old weighed again. Not gaining weight much and seems to be a light eater like her mom. That girl is the only one I know who can have freezer burn accumulate on the ice cream in the fridg. Gained 15 lbs over her entire pregnancy.

Good mornign girls well needless to say I agree with doing the food and exercise charts. I started to think I could do without them but now I know after the scale ck. its not a good thing. This weekend I have a lot of social events. Today a bridal shower and sunday a communion celebration. But I will try and do my intakes it will help keep me honest with my calorie intakes. I am going to try and make the healthier choices. I am going to the gym after the shower to make up for some of it! I do think using the scale one time a week and on saturdays helps me beaware of my mistakes or poor choices early on. Well hope your all slowing down a bit with the speeding tickets they sure are easy to get but hurt when we get them. I know I have had a few myself over the years. Elyse hope your enjoying that new little one!
I did go walk around the lake a couple of times this week but only did the gym once so I had better get into the gym today. I try and exercise at least 4 times a week I up'd it from 3. Little steps to reach my goal.

yes, the reason I've been out of the picture a bit is because of problems on the home front. We just seem to ....disappoint each other, all the time, almost on a daily basis now
