  • Aphil~ all I can say is WOW on the costumes! You do some awesome work!

Holly~Holy Crap I would have choked the guy! I'm glad you are getting some time to yourself, you sure need it AND deserve it.

I use Performance Diet Pro by HeatlhKeeper to track my calorie intake, it also tracks my carbs/fat/protien. I had to buy it, I am glad I did, I really like it alot. Well I hope yall have a wonderful day and I'll check in later.
  • Thanks Chrissy. There will be lots more to see when my website and gallery in it are up and running.

Yesterday was a busy, busy day! Along with my regular costume work, the kids, grocery store, errands, etc. I managed to walk 3 miles for my cardio-and stayed 100% OP.

Today is strength training-and lots more costume work calling my name! Hope everyone is having a great day! Sorry my posts have been so short lately-things will slow down for me here in a month or so and I'll be able to chat more.

heehee!! thank you! I love the unconditional support we give each other

Aphil, you never need apologize for not posting enough, with your schedule we all know you are either working out, eating right, making costumes, taking care of your kids, taking care of your house, etc.

yes, yesterday I lazed around and did NOTHING, and it was great

Today I might go to my fave thrift shop, though I did go there about 2 weeks ago...I like to usually let about a month go in-between in order for more new stuff to show up.

I did Gilad's Step and Tone yesterday, and for the bicep curls, switched from my regular 5 lb.'ers to some 8...hard work! then switched back to the lighter ones. Trying to challenge myself! I'ts SO easy for me to become complacent in the routines. Like, "well, I did it" instead of "breathing hard, argh, can I do one more? popping sweat" Wouldn't it be nice if we all had personal trainer guardian angels hovering about us always - "one more rep!! come on, spaghetti arms!! do it!!!"

The sun is shining brilliantly, as it did yesterday, but it was 10 degrees this morning, and we still have 6 foot canyon-driveway-walls, sigh! I am being PATIENT, aren't I, about not whining about missing my motorcycle!!!

Have a great day, ladies!!! think of how we want to look in our t-shirts, tanks, shorts, swimsuits this summer and forever!
  • Hey everyone,
Geez Holly, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I agree with Chrissy, but good for you and your restraint!
I did pretty well yesterday, I walked about 3 miles, weight trained and did cardio. Tonight,I will not be exercising per say, but I will be going Salsa dancing with one of my friends. Yesterday I stayed 7 grams under my fat gram limit (YEY) but the day before, I went wayyyyyyyyyy over!
The term is finally over and i am ready to go on spring break, even though I have no wehre to go except home. HAHA, my mama should move the the Bahamas so I can go home to see her there.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well and staying on program. Have a great weekend!
  • Hi ladies,
Well my weekend was great. Very full....Mall walking, fishing and spending time with my family. Lori and my aunt were down and it was lots of fun. I didn't do any working out but we were at the mall walking Friday from 2:30PM till 9:00 PM! We ate out a lot too but it was such a good time. I will miss her being here. Now back to the real world....I seemed to being staying right at 154.0 so that is good. I did get my self to work out last night but I only did my 20 minute pilates dvd? I will do the elliptical tonight and am OP as of this morning. I need to get this last 25-30 lbs off for summer! I think I am going to the tanning bed this weekend. I haven't been for 10 years and will only go for a month or two to get a base tan. Just a treat for me since I have lost so much weight....It will be another 10 years before I go again..LOL Well hope you all are OP and working out. Lets get it in gear for July bathing suites! Have a great day....

    Amie
  • Hi all,

Looks like everyone is doing good, happy to read that! I also, like Amie, had a great weekend! It was sooooo nice being somewhere where there was no snow!!! Amie's little girl is the absolute cutest kid ever!!! I miss them all so much already, but plans are in the works to see each other again this summer
Holly~ Happy to hear that you vented some and got some time off. Everyone needs some R&R now and then and sounds like you was WAY overdue!! Glad to hear that you are still doing good on your SB plan, is hubby doing good still and still walking the dog?
Aphil, you are so busy all the time, I wish it was that busy here at work
You do so good at not weighing yourself, I dont see how you do it, it is a pet peeve for me, I weigh myself like 4 times a week
I am back OP to, I have eaten good all day today and I plan to make some whole grain spegetti for supper tonight, (hope the kids will eat it )I'll make them some garlic bread to go with theres, maybe that will calm them down I will do my elliptical and arm weights tonight!!
Hope your all having a great day, keep up the good work!

    Lori
  • Hey everyone,

Just taking a little break-my back is killing me. I have been hand beading and pearling a costume for about 3 hours now. Yep-it's that time of year! Only about 1 1/2 months until my "busy" season is over.
I had to sit with Jason over the weekend and mix my music for the Star Wars Celebration performance next month-because I had to send in my work in progress materials today to the event coordinator. Hope she likes what I have done so far.

I have been doing well-staying on plan and exercising. I am getting ready to do my workout for the day right now.
    Hope everyone is doing well!
    Aphil
  • Morning All I hope everyone is doing well...I'm doing OK here, getting ready to be with my family for Easter (gonna be hard, we are italian and my mother (all 100 lbs of her) can cook soooooooo good! So I told her I'll be there bearing all my measuring cups, spoons and food scale LOLOL! Anyhow I posted this up top also I wanted to get yalls opinion also.. Well I made a decision yesterday I was eating between 1200 & 1500 calories a day (zigzagging) I think I am going to switch that to 1400 & 1800 right now because I am a big girl still, and if I stay low like I was, when I reach my goal or as I get towards it I am thinking it will be harder to loose if I am still eating the same amount, so if I eat a little more now (which is still way less then I was when I was working on getting this big) then I hit say 200 lbs I lower it by 100-200 calories a day by the time I hit my goal I can be eating 1500-1600 calories a day and be OK...does that make sense?
also I ordered my Richard Simmons stuff almost 3 weeks ago, I called them yesterday and they said it will be another week to 2 weeks before I get it...man I coulda got it off ebay brand new and it would have been here already (and cheaper too!) Kinda bums me out cuz I want it already! LOL I'm so dang impatient! Well I will check in later, gonna sit with my little guy for a few before he goes to school.
    Aphil~Take care of your back!
Holly~I hope you enjoyed your days off!
  • Hi all! New member here, I found the website when trying to figure out just how long a plateau can last (1 mo. no change). I lost 10 pounds over Christimas for some unknown reason, worked hard and lost 8 pounds in two months, and can't get any lower. I have started running, my goal is to run the Phx Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon (13 miles) next January. I am running 9 minutes, walk 1 minute x3. I try to ride my bike around my community three times each week. My calories vary a little, but are within 100 cals of 1200. I do have my free night on Sat, when I allow myself 2 glasses of wine. Any ideas??? I am getting so discouraged, but don't want to give up. Want to look good for my Nov trip to Mexico.

  • Hi all,

I Had a good day yesterday, did 31 minutes on my elliptical. After taking 3 days off my arms are like jelly today! Am OP today and will do my 1 hour Pilates tonight. I made a good dinner last night and am having that for lunch too. BBQ pork chops on the grill. Cooked red skin potatoes with a sprinkle of dill, diced red onion and a tbsp of fat free sour cream and grill veggies (green and yellow peppers, onion, brocolli and squash with some garlic, olive oil and a pinch of pepper). yummy! I am feeling better after getting a workout in.

Anthemfamily~ It sounds like you are doing great. I have had two or three plateau's during my two year road to loosing my weight. I think they can last for 1-4 months at times? The trick for me was to change my exercise routine. You can add to the time or reps and even add a bran new type of exercise. What worked for me was completly changing my exercise from only walking on my treadmill 3-4 times a week for 45-60 minutes to now 30 min on my elliptical every other day and pilates every other day taking Friday off. After I did that my I lost another 10 lbs or so but now it has slowed down again and I have not had a loss in 2-3 weeks?? It is change. Not less cals that works. I think Aphil will agree and told me the same thing, 1200 cals is not enough. You are running and need to eat a little more than that. I went from 1200 to 1400 a day and lost over 10 lbs in a month or two along with changing up my work out routine. Your body will store its fat if it feels like it is not getting enough? Up your cals a little (choosing good foods), add to or change your routine some and I bet you will start to loose again. I think your body get used to what you are doing?

I need to change up my routine too. I have been on the is one since the end of December. That is only 3 months but I am loosing nothing at the moment and when I do it is is like a lb a week? Any idea girls? I hate hate hate to run on the treadmill. I may add some jogging at the school track in a few weeks when the weather is better? I can not add to the time. I barley get in my hour now with the job hours, my DH and DD to take care of...... I have noticed good things with my Pilates DVD but I am doing the hour dvd so already? Aphil are all pilates the same moves? Do you think I should get a new DVD from another source? I love my Winsor but could try a new one?? I also have a treadmill but find it so boring now. I love using the elliptical and get a better challenge and seem to burn more in less time. I will try adding a run once or twice a week and a bike ride this spring. I have 29 lbs to go and want it off for my summer vacation to Miane in July? I would at least like to loose another 10-15 lbs by July?

HI Holly, how ya doing with your eating plan?

Hi Lori, U.P., ChrissyL, chubbyVixen, lilybutt, jacklyn all the other newbies......

    Have a good day

  • Hello Everybody
    Hi all,
I'm new to this website and after noticing this forum yesterday it took awhile to find you again. And get my signature started - hope it comes out

I've usually kept track of calories when on a plan. Even with years on track in OA.
My most recent success was with SBD, but I still prefer to monitor the calories.
Walked 2 miles today and got a little rained on. It was great for me though - I had a hole in my heart repaired (with a device , not open heart) a year ago and I'm noting that I have more energy. It really is a thrill. Now for eating right which is a high of its own.

  • Hi Aphil,
What is OP and is there a way to subscribe to this thread?
  • Hey everyone!
Well, I finally worked out...I haven't done it since Friday. I did the basic Tae-Bo tape. I am going to pick up some new tapes from the library so I can have a little rotation. I ordered a Richard Simmons tape, I've never worked out with Richard Simmons, so we will see how it goes.
I have NOT been eating well, totally not OP...this always happens when I come home, so I am going to have to counter act it some way...because I don't want to gain back what I lost...maybe I can still lose, but I don't know.

Anthemfamily- You need to eat girl! From what I have heard, 1,200 calories is not enough, but I am no expert.

Aphil-Take care of your back! It sucks to have any kind of pain anywhere, but your back seems to be the worse, because you use it for EVERYTHING!

    Howdy to everyone else!
  • Yeah...especially sewing and belly dancing-I DO use it for EVERYTHING.

It's totally okay-I just kinda get it too tense from being in the same position for a long time-if I am sewing or beading for long periods of time. I'm fine.

I vended last night at a beginning dance class, made a few sales...and today I have the class that I teach on Wednesday nights. Busy, busy here. I am also trying to finish up my instructor's solo costume this week. *hence all the beading* and get to other projects.
Jason and I mixed my music for my April solo performance at the convention center for Star Wars-it is so freaking cool. Since I am supposed to be one of Jabba's slave dancers-we mixed in Jabba's laughter and voice here and there throughout the music-so in a sense it will appear to the audience that he is commenting on my dancing. It rocks. I am so excited to be a contestant in this showcase. It looks as if Warwick Davis (Harry Potter, Willow, Star Wars, Leprechaun) will be the emcee of the show-at least from my current sources.

Today is strength training for me...I may throw in a quick walk afterwards as well. I have been OP for such a while...I am actually getting to the point where I am wanting maybe to weigh in here in a week or two and see if I broke through my plateau. Man, I sure hope so. We shall see. I am not brave enough to yet-I think I'll wait another week or so.

    Have a good day!
    Aphil
  • Hello everyone! and welcome to all the newcomers!! Lisi, OP means "on program" and is different to all of us, just means that we are sticking to whatever regimen we're on, eating right, exercising, drinking water, etc.

aphil, your solo sounds so KICK *SS!! and with that customized mixed music score - so kewl!!

Amie and Lori, so glad you had a great time together!! and I can totally imagine, Lori, what it must have felt like to have some heavenly time spent in an area that still isn't covered with snow and ice. mmmm!

Amie, I would suggest some other form of aerobic exercise, would you do a video tape? I have Gay Gasper's "Aerobics for Dummies" and even though it has such basic aerobic moves (it's purpose was to be totally easy to follow, nothing dancy or complicated) I am sweating and breathing hard near the end, hoping it to be over soon!

Ladies, I had a diet downfall and went crazy on white flour and sugar for two days. I would have to submit myself as a test person for South Beach, in that the two week Phase One just make me want that stuff even more But I'm okay now

I RODE MY MOTORCYCLE SATURDAY AND YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!
    just wanted to share that
Yesterday, after work, I rode it back to my work to show it off to my co-workers who haven't seen it. One of them says, "look at you, all leathered up" that just sounded so funny.

Thanks again for all the sympathy about my work. Now that the Manager is back, things are MUCH better for me. I even found the will and energy to make Panoramic Sugar Eggs - they're large (well about 6" long) hollow eggs molded from colored sugar, and I put little nests/figureines inside, decorate the outside with fancy piped royal icing, ribbon bows, and silk flowers. I think they're really beautiful. I took some digital pics, I'll see if I can have my husband post them on a different server and then give you a link to see them.

It took me three evenings of about 3 hours to make my first batch of 12. I'm selling them to the store for $9 each, and we are retailing them for $12.95. Sounds like alot, but they last for years. And make a really nice Easter dinner centerpiece, or a really special treat for kid's baskets. Not meant to be eaten, though.

Gotta exercise; lately my workdays from Sunday to Tuesday don't allow for it - yikes! I don't liek missing 3 days in a row, but can't be helped.

have a great day ladies!!!! if it gets to 40 degrees with some sun, I'm taking that bike out again
