Good evening everyone!!
I'm just getting time in to get on the computer. I've had a great couple days. I wanted to jump on and tell you guys that I've had a proud of me moment. I went to the movies and for drinks with my friends last night. Everyone had popcorn, drinks and other junk but I didn't get anything. My cousin gave me an icee and I only drank a little of it because it was too sweet. I couldn't stand the taste of it and I used to drink large ones without a thought. By the end of the movie I was a little hungry but the place we went to after the movie couldn't provide me with nutritional info on their foods so I didn't get anything. I ate before I left home and when I got to my friend's house before we went to the movie and I had a couple glasses of wine but I did get a bowl of Raisin Bran when I got home. But I didn't go over my calorie limit. Wasn't even close to it. I was saving calories for the evening and didn't use them...YAY ME! A large victory for me.

Love - That's a good start!! Keep up the progress.
Corinne - Have fun on your trip. I bet if you tell your co worker about your challenges she will help or at least stop peddling food!! She may even bring some things you are able to enjoy and stay on plan.
See - Congratulations on getting your workout in. Didn't it feel good to control your intake when you could have gone all out?
JD - You are rocking it this challenge!! It's really encouraging to see the scale going down, huh?
Fruitlady - That's a good loss you have going...Congratulations!!!
DJett - It happens sometimes especially around TOM. Keep plugging along and the loss will increase.
Envelope - I had lots of fun last night and I can always find a reason to party all year. My friend's birthday is in a week and we always start early and carry it through the month.
Fab - Welcome. You have to be a member 20 days and have at least 20 posts.
P H A T - When you are eating lots of salt drink a whole lot of water. I do that and it decreases the water retention. I was also told that if you are having a high sodium meal include lots of potassium and it will eat away at the sodium. Haven't tried it but you could try it.

If you haven't seen the movie "Bridesmaids" go see it because it is absolutely hilarious!!

Good for you! those small accomplishments mean so much.. & we all know it's the small changes that add up in the end! :)

Hi everyone  I would love to join. I am a calorie counter and try to stay between 1200-1550 calories per day. My official weigh in day is Monday so I will know my weight tomorrow morning.

My goal for this challenge is to lose 7-8 lbs by July 4th. My goal is also to stick with exercising at least 5 days per week. I have a treadmill that I bought a few months ago that I have not had a chance to use much as I am currently working towards my Master of Arts in Teaching and I work full-time as a special education teacher assistant. I am now off of work until August 8, giving me plenty of time to focus on my weight loss goals. I am only taking two classes this summer. I also have another little mini-goal: To lose at least 5 lbs in the next two weeks before I leave for the beach! I'm hoping to fit into some of my old clothes so that I don't have to buy too much new clothes before vacation.

Good luck on your mini & long term goals :) We both are looking to lose the same amount at the end of the challenge

Hi, I'd love to join the challenge.

I'd like to lose 5 pounds by July 4th. That would put me right about 165 (edited from original).

I'd also like to not go over my calorie goals, which I've been doing a fair amount.

Weigh to Go lol.. Good luck on your challenge!

Or it's just her Polish-ness need to feed everyone in sight- at least that's what she says! It's gotten to the point where I can ignore it pretty well!

Love2b- Congrats! That's a good loss!

Welcome Live and Ann!

So, I weight in today out of curiosity- and wasn't happy with the results. I'm down to 121.8 (woo-hoo, loss, right?) BUT I do NOT want to lose more than 2 pounds in a week- and that's a pound in two days, and pardon me, but I haven't had my morning BM yet :dizzy:, so it's likely lower. I'm hoping it was just a water thing. Either way, I'm not worrying about it this week, as I'm sure that number will go back up (hopefully I'll maintain though!).

You're doing fine & Im sure your weight will fluctuate in the next day or so :)

Corrine ~ Wow, you are thisclose to your goal weight! Good for you! :carrot:

jonco ~ Great job on the 4 pound loss -- that's awesome! Onederland is awesome and you'll be there before you know it! :)

It's good to know I'm not alone in getting tired of calorie counting some days. I woke up this morning and made a conscious decision to get refocused and not spend so much time worrying about being exactly at 165 by July 31st...I think I was putting way too much pressure on myself. I'm going to watch my calories, exercise more (I've slacked cardio-wise for weeks now), and do the best that I can.

Hope everyone has a great Monday! http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-fc/rockon.gif

You're not alone. I dont know what it is, but I havent been wanting to count, I have been slacking off keeping track of my calories.. we need to get some motivation somehow right? :)

got up at 5:00am this morning for my first workout and it was easy getting up. But I didnt' have alot of time at the gym like I wanted, so I was only able to do 35 minutes of cardio, just walking on the treadmil on the fatburn routine. So I'm thinking about altering days, tomorrow doing weights and the next day cardio, but still doing my pilates every night. we will see.

today is day one of my 2 weeks of Phase 1, so far so good for breakfast. I made a smoothie, with the Designer Whey Biggest Loser protein powder, tbsp of natural peanut butter and 1 cup almond milk. Had my coffee and just used the splenda vanilla flavor pack, no creamer.

corinne: to answer your question, I haven't had any negative side effects on Alli. I do keep my fat grams to 12 or less per meal, and I have gone over just to see, but nothing bad. The only time I have major BM is if I eat something very spicy, which would happen if I wasn't on Alli. I haven't tried having a Big Mac, fries and a coke on Alli yet lol, but I don't plan to have a crazy meal like that.

jonco: congrats on the 4 lbs! :carrot: onederland here you come!

ann71 & Live Laugh Love: Welcome!

jigglefree: Boooya! very proud of you. I did the same this this weekend with the bf at the movies. only had a little bit of my icee. Did you hear about AMC's new health package. It has popchips, granola bar, fruit crisps, and water for like $7. Keep up the great work :)

I have a softball game tonight, and I can't wait to see the results on the scale tomorrow. The only negative thing is I"m right before TOM and I don't want that to discourage me when I look at the scale. Oh well.

To everyone else good luck today and have a great day! Keep up the good work ladies :)

I hope the scale was friendly to you woman. :)

I will be back on soon. Good luck to all.

I weigh myself once a week too. its less obsessive than every day :) good luck on your mini challenge!

Good morning, ladies. Per usual I've been MIA over the weekend, but I'm back in action today. What wasn't MIA was my calorie counting. The calories for Saturday and Sunday were a little higher than my previous days, but still under 1,500 so I consider it a success. :)

PHAT - Good luck with the water intake. Keep at it. The scale will go in the right direction, you just gotta put in a little effort. :) You can do it!

fruitylady - How do you keep losing more than one pound at a time?! Especially considering you're ridiculously close to your goal weight. I'm so jealous!

fabforties - Welcome! The tracker will come after a certain amount of posts - not sure how many. Just stick with us and you'll get it. :)

envelope - In light of the fact that the treadmill desk will never be a reality, I'm just going to keep working on leaving my desk at least once an hour just to keep moving. It will probably be the hardest thing I try to achieve out of all of my weight loss goals. Desk jobs are the worst for calorie burning.

djett - Whenever I'm close to TOM I want to eat everything in sight. I feel for ya, girl. The good news is you continued to keep moving even after the snacking. All is not lost. Just keep avoiding the brownies until they're gone. Good luck. If I had brownies in my house I would eat them ALL. Brownies are my favorite food of all time.

Emme - Yes, I've had days where I just don't feel like calorie counting. Usually I'll count them up the following day, and by then it's too late and the damage is done. Maybe you are better than I am when going a day without the counting, though. The good news is you have a good idea of what is within plan and what isn't, so if you try, not calorie counting for a day or two shouldn't kill your diet.

jdonato - I get the "you don't need to lose weight" talk a lot, too. But, when I go home and stand in front of the mirror and I see fat literally *hanging* over my waist I know something needs to be done. People forget frame sizes, height, etc. when they take things into account. I've always gotten the "but your tall." Two inches of height doesn't mean you get to weigh 30 lbs. more. Sheesh. Anyway, I, myself, get up at 5am and I love it. I've been doing it for 38 days now. (Started getting up at 5am for P90X.) Once your body gets in the habit of getting up that early it's not so bad. It's the same as waking up at 7am was for me. Of course there are days I want to stay in bed, but there were days like that when I was waking up two hours later. It's just the nature of the game. And, it feels really godo to have my workout done before even starting my day. You'll find yourself going to bed earlier, but let's be honest, not that much happens after 10pm anyway except for late night tv which you can tivo or watch On Demand. Good luck! And, good luck tonight at softball!

SeeImTryin - Great job staying on plan!!!! Impressive!

Corrinne - Enjoy your vacation. You deserve it. I, too, have some fat on my upper arms that I would like to get rid of. I know I can't spot reduce, so what do I do?? I'm down to a size six in my waist which I really like, but I still look somewhat heavy when I wear sleeveless shirts and dresses. I'm lifting weights, doing push ups and pull ups... I'm at a loss. :( Do you think it will eventually come with more weight loss? As far as your weight loss, who knows with a woman's body, right? I lost something like 2 pounds in as many days a couple of weeks ago and then went up four pounds the following day. By the time the full week passed it ended up being a one pound loss. I wouldn't worry too much.

love - Great job with the weight loss! Keep it up.

jiggle - Awesome job with the movies! I go to the movies nearly once a week and it's typically one of the hardest days for me. My theatre has gourmet foods, so I stick to the portobello panini, but even that isn't so great for me. (Especially considering the fried chips that come with it that I only throw away half the time.) I am supremely jealous of you. It feels impossible to sit at a movie and not munch at something. Was it hard? Or once the movie started were you so into it that you didn't notice?

LivelaughLove - Welcome! You and I are in the same calorie range. How is it working for you? Good luck with your goal!

Ann - Welcome!

Jonco - Great job. Onederland is so close!!!!

Tired - Good luck with your weight loss goal. See you on here soon!!!

As for me, I had a HUGE NSV weekend! My boyfriend and I spent 5 hours going through my ENTIRE wardrobe. I tried EVERYTHING on, assessed and either donated or kept. If it was even slightly loose it went into the donate pile. I have put a stranglehold on my ability to gain weight at this point. This is fine because I still want to lose 10 lbs. I am certain that once I hit maintenance I should still never fluctuate up to the point where I'd need those slightly loose clothes.

So, I was basically wearing about four different outfits to work each week. (That means, yes, I was wearing one outfit twice in the same week, lol.) And, mind you, they weren't even good looking outfits. Well, as we went through the closet I found some long lost favorites, AND I discovered that about 1/2 my clothes (seriously, half my wardrobe) fit me. I thought I was still too heavy for my old clothes, but NOPE. They fit!!!!!! It's like having $5,000 to go on a shopping spree, only I was shopping for free out of my very own closet. I only had maybe 3 or 4 items that were just a bit snug, but even THEY were passable - especially considering the crap I HAD been wearing to work. I have about a dozen skirts that all fit but I didn't have any blouses to go with them. So, yesterday my boyfriend and I went shopping and I picked up a few blouses. I have now increased my wardrobe from last week to this week by 1,000%, haha. It's a great feeling.

I bought another pair of black pants from Express, too. They are the same style I *always* buy (editor). Except this time instead of buying a 10, I bought a size SIX! I'll be honest, they are slightly snug, and that's with not having washed them yet. But, I know I am going in the right direction and I'm not even halfway through P90X, so I think it will be fine.

Also, we bought a new scale on Saturday. My old one measured by the 1/2 pound. The new one goes by .2. The .2 is so much better because you can track your progress easier. Whereas before I may have lost .4 and it would show no change for me. So, that's really nice! According to the scale this morning I'm down to 144.6! I doubt it will stay that low by the time Friday rolls around, but it still feels good.

I have been on track with my diet for six straight days. Tonight is going to be tough because my boyfriend won't be home and I struggle with not grazing/binging when I'm at home alone in the evenings. Hopefully knowing I have my 4th of July goal will keep me on track. Crossing my fingers.

Sorry for the novel!

thank you for the encouragement & sweet words.. & WOW at a size 6... Ummmm I Am Striving to be able to wear a size 6! LOL its laughable, I dont know if Ill EVER be down that small. at this point, Id be happy with a size 16.. LOL Good job

MMmmmm cheesecake ... See what you started?? LOL Your time of the month may be the very reason you gorged.. LoL ;)

I messed up last night and baked a cake for the family. Ate too much of it, gained 1.3lbs already. more weight gain to come, I'm sure. Cake is gone thank goodness, there's no more crap food in the house so I'll do fine. It makes me so mad that i just lost all that weight and I have to lose it all over again now! Had 2595 calories & walked for 33min. Tomorrow back to the grind.

Good luck everyone!

LoL yeah Im the same way, if there's junk in the house, guess what? Ill eat it.. lol Youll do fine Im sure :)

My husband brought home a surprise ice cream treat for me tonight from my favorite little local ice cream shop...and I was actually able to turn it away. Our nephew is coming over tomorrow, so it is in the freezer for safe-keeping for him. :) Whew!

turn away ice cream?? wow, I hope I can follow your lead when the opportunity approaches.. Good for you :) lol

Hola pretties ..!! I'm SCREWING UP! loL .. okay look, I ate 3 pieces of pizza tonight & drunk Pepsi.. what the heck is going on with me? I was just here in the thread whining & complaining about my sodium & Look what I have done  .. anyway .. I just hope all this h2o I'm drinking will level it out.. I noticed that ever since I have stopped working, I have been screwing up.. I really need to pray because Im losing focus... Yall keep me in mind..

jigglefree 06-07-2011 08:49 AM

Good Morning!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:
Yesterday was another good calorie counting day...:high:YEA BABY!! On the other side of that I haven't had a workout at all. Well maybe a bit of walking but nothing organized. I was thinking today would be my day to do some working out.

P H A T - You have to get out of the house. If I'm home sitting around all day I will eat stuff I know I shouldn't be eating but it's mostly because I'm there, it's there so why not. If you don't get out of the house then busy yourself with cleaning or do some type of workout. But you gotta do something to stay busy.
Emme - :hug:YAY!!! I love when I'm able to turn down something I love to reach my goal. It gives me a huge charge.
Fruitlady - It happens. Just jump back on the pony and ride it out.
Ekicna - Water does wonders for our bodies. Hopefully it flushes all that stuff out but look at the bright side you know what to do!!
Amberelise - Well the movie thing was huge for me because I didn't feel bad or like I was depriving myself. It felt like I was doing what I needed to do for me. Congrats on the new wardrobe!!! I know you feel great because you can see that you are really making progress!!
JD - You are doing a great job. That smoothie sounds really tasty!!! How is the Phase 1 going so far?
Jonco - :high: That's a great loss in one week. Keep up the good work.

jdonato 06-07-2011 09:29 AM

Today is Day 2 of Phase 1 and I gained a pound since yesterday! really!? I was under calories, stuck to my diet completely and exercised in the morning and softball. I didn't drink at all after the game, I had a chef salad, with ranch on the side and just dipped my fork in it. I also removed most of the cheese from the salad cuz I didn't know how fatty it was. I stuck to my fat grams for the day. I was a little over sodium but nothing crazy especially with all the sweating I did. so what gives? Im a few days from TOM so i was hoping that was it and maybe working out my muscles swelled a little, but I think that's just making excuses. Oh and I drank like 16 glasses of water yesterday. ahhhhhhhhhh!

I'm still going to stick to it. I didn't get up early to work out this morning, had a late night from the game, so I will do my pilates tonight and maybe workout with my sister too. It's like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and i'm cranky. Sorry guys :(....

Jiggle: congrats on the CC :) Keep it up!

PHAT: :hug:I will continue to pray for you. Also remember this is a life change, so yes you had 3 peices of pizza and some pepsi. Think about how you would have been before....would you have had more than 3 peices? More pepsi? Alcohol? some wings or breadsticks? You have come a long way and have made major progress! One day at a time and all good things come to good people, and it will come to you soon :)

Emme: wow nice job! If mine did that, i'd feel guilty for his effort and still eat it, but it was very nice of him to do that, and you can still have your nephew enjoy it too :) keep it up!

fruitlady: what do you mean by no starches....as in potatoes, bread, pasta, rice? Thanks I hope you are right, I have done it before and felt amazing but today i'm not feeling so amazing.

Sorry to everyone else, I'll get back to you later. Again have to sneek this into work. I hope you ladies have a wonderful day :)

jigglefree 06-07-2011 11:46 AM

JD - Those aren't excuses. It's reality. I have been on point with my calories all week except the day I was over by 30. Some of my clothes feel tight and why, I think it's because of my cycle. At first I was thinking it was because of not working out but when I do any of my normal workouts ( Kettle Bells, Elliptical or walk/jog on the treadmill, I'm starving and have to increase my food intake. So that is part of the reason I haven't done any workout. I was thinking about a little toning workout today before bed to see how that works for me. It' just the reality of our bodies. You will probably see the results of you work by tomorrow morning. I'm just taking it all in stride.

ann71 06-07-2011 02:05 PM

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a little slow at learning who everyone is, but I'll try to get there so I can actually be polite and comment on other people's posts. :)

SeeImTryin 06-07-2011 02:41 PM

Everyone is trying so hard! Keep it up girls. I'm down 2 lbs from the 31st. Still on program and walking everyday. Keep up the good work everyone!!

Fit4Lyfe 06-07-2011 02:43 PM

Sorry ladies, not much time, for the first time in WEEKS I am feeling motivatied to get out of the house and do some sort of exercise, so I have to hold on to this feeling. Anyway, I am going back to daily weighing, it doesn't hurt me, only motivated me to do better and I need motivation right now. I weighed in at 235.2...almost a lb down since the start of the challenge and that fired me up to make it happen. I will get to the 220's by July, I will not have a repeat of May...I will do personals soon but here's a "general" personal from your cheerleader:

YOU GUYS ROCK, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO, WITHOUT YOU I WOULD BE CREEPING UP TO 300 LBS BY NOW AND I'M GLAD YOU ARE ALL IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao!!!!

jigglefree 06-07-2011 03:51 PM

Simple refreshing salad

Not sure how many of you are in need of a something a little different but I made up something because I wanted something other than the regular salad especially with it being so hot. It's very good and you can eat it without salad dressing...saving calories wherever I can.

85 grams Romaine Lettuce - 15 calories, 20 grams Fresh Spinach - 3.5 calories, 2 oz chopped Chicken Breast (skinless and boneless) - 60 calories, 70 grams cut Strawberries - 25 calories and 1/2 Grapefruit cut sections in small pieces - 45 calories (white or pink). For a total of 148.5 calories. It's very refreshing and filling. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can change the amount of ingredients to accommodate the number of calories you want and where you want to get the calories from. It was delish!!!

djett626 06-07-2011 07:48 PM

Not my day at the gym today. I was looking forward to Aqua Zumba only to discover SOMEHOW I managed to grab everything BUT my swimsuit. *sigh* My kids have classes at the gym so we arrive 30 minutes before my class starts. I did 15 minutes on the treadmill and was ready for the pool. It wasn't a total loss. I ran for 30 seconds at a speed that I never would have attempted before. And, I forced myself to work on my chest and arms a little. I haven't really been working with weights lately, so switching it up may have been a good thing.

The kids have summer camps that are going to interfere with me getting to my normal Wednesday morning class (Step). Guess what they have an hour after my normal time... Aqua Zumba. I think I just made a date for the pool in the morning.:D

fruitlady 06-07-2011 08:57 PM

jiggle- That salad sounds great, but i don't like grapefruit. I wonder what else I could use that would taste good.

jdonato- Starches turn to sugar during digestion, i stay away from starchy veggies & anything white(including white flour) Maybe your not feeling so great because of the scale going up, I get so angry and discouraged when it happens for no reason. Hang in there and keep going!

Scale went up more like i knew it would, total gain is 4.4lbs. My body is so used to healthy food, as soon as i eat crap, I gain big time. It's a little scary that I don't really care, usually I'd be beating myself up and whipping myself back to eating clean again. Ate well today, only because I didn't have any junk in the house to eat, I was craving it and with the attitude i have right now, I would have eaten it.

Only walked 20min. I didn't have time to go longer. Had 1195 calories, under limit finally. Maybe once I see the scale going down, I'll be motivated. I hope!

k15g15 06-07-2011 09:00 PM

Jiggle-That sounds super yummy!

Phat- Hugs! A new day for you tomorrow!

Fit-Congrats! You can do it!

:( The scale has not moved in like 10 days...I think I have to suck it up and cut those calories. I eat 1400 to 1500 everyday, do you guys think 100 or 200 calories less will do it? It's like I have hit a brick wall. I give blood tomorrow so I might wait until Thursday to reduce my calories.

Thin thoughts ladies!

love2b150 06-07-2011 09:00 PM

:welcome: Live Love Laugh and ann71, best of luck with your goals :)

ann71 open two windows it makes it so much easier to comment if you want :)

thanks Corinne :) wow I'll be glad when I get to a point where I don't want to loose a certain amount, You go Girl :high:

jonco great loss, congrats on being close to ONEDERLAND :)

Emme I've been slacking on my cardio also and I know it helps a ton. I can't wait to see 165 again that is my all time low (haven't seen since Sept last year) We'll get there :) Emme great NSV with the ice cream :high:

JD wish I had your energy whew :) Are you starting SB? I tried it and got to day 11 and quit, feening for my carbs :( best of luck to you, though I know you'll do well :) I couldn't do the peanut butter in the smoothie too overwhelming for me. Sorry about the weigh in this morning

TiredOfGettingBigger good job on the 2lbs gone :)

Thanks Amberelise I love you and JD's outlook. I wish I could get up earlier, maybe I could if I went to bed earlier :) I know what you mean about being home alone, me too, I just have to keep busy. :) Enjoy your new wardrobe what a great NSV :)

Ekicna I love The Cheesecake Factory so glad the closes is 55 minutes from here with no traffic on the highway which is rare :)

fruitlady I love your stories. :) I remember you and Lori with the peanut butter ... but you always get back on track :)

Thanks P H A T I stopped working the beginning of April and I'm still trying to get back on track. It's harder this time than I thought. We have 5 children so it's always something to do and as long as I can keep busy I'm fine, but if I sit idle too long even here on the thread, the constant talk of food makes me want to eat. Sodium is a big issue with me also, we'll get through this

jiggle you have always been my inspiration, always keeping it real and positive, THANKS  Keep doing what you do :high:

Oh CRAP....I think I am having my first OP day in almost a month, and as a reward I am going to go see Pirates of the Caribbean...NO popcorn, only water to drink and only some 100-calorie chocolate bars to keep me company in the theater...soooo excited.

Hey ladies, I'm rushing at this present time! Just wanted to say it is HOT outside! I spent a considerable amount of time out walking around, visiting different companies & career fairs, so I got plenty of exercise. I feel good, even though towards the end of the day, I was feeling dizzy & nauseous. I think it was from the heat. I got thirsty in the afternoon, but the 20oz bottles of water were freaking $2.75 at the career fair. I refused to spend almost $3 for lukewarm bottle of water! Anyway, I guess I'm doing alright. This challenge is off to a slow start for me, as I haven't even weighed in yet. I'm sure it will pick up though.. :)

nighty night, beauties.

Good morning!!!
Yesterday was a good day and I even got in a good walk. I went over my calories by 140 and was a little disappointed but overall it was good. One of my friends came to town and requested that I cook some stuffed shells for dinner. My husband was all for it only thing she got there late and I had to cook later than I normally would. However I was famished before so I had a couple snacks trying to make it to dinner. I should have just had a large glass of water and turkey slices. I don't think well when I'm hungry. I will have to have an emergency snack for these times. Though I love seeing her and my daughter loves to have her around I should have just cooked before she got there and it would have made all the difference...there would have been no snacking. OH WELL I have to chalk it up to friendship. I will have to do a more intense workout today to burn of those calories.

P H A T - Even though it a slow start at least you have started. Just try to take what you will need for the time you are out. The good thing is you got your workout in :exercise:!!!
Fit - How was the movie and your eating at the movie?
Love - There is always a reason to be negative so I try to be positive most of the time. I do have my days though. Congrats on the 3 pounds.
K15g15 - It is you should try it. I know how you feel about that scale. I was doing 1400-1500 calories and was just stuck. I moved it down 100 calories and it is taking me a minute to get used to it. Since we started this challenge I lowered them and I'm having a hard time adjusting but I am going to do this. You can too!!
Fruitlady - Try watermelon. I would suggest something juicy to eliminate the extra calories from the dressing even if it's only 25. The scale will go down.
Djett - Did you make the Aqua Zumba...so you are doing Zumba in the water??? Sounds fun but I don't like water sports...yet!!!
