  • Quote: I had a HORRIBLE day at work. I don't know what is going on with the planets but I am ready to go the **** to bed. My feet are KILLING me.
However I: stuck to my plan and didn't eat any food besides the stuff I brought with me. Also I went to see my wifey after work (she manages a bar) to pick up my new cell phone and didn't have any beer or hot wings although I would have loved to have both.
    So, victories all around.

Congrats on all your losses, girls!

I have a couple hundred cals left so I think I'll have some ice cream. A little calorie controlled comfort food is fine, right?
Sorry you had such a bad day. I say calorie controlled comfort food is always great! I love to save room for my favorite ice cream at the end of the day.
  • Quote: Sorry you had such a bad day. I say calorie controlled comfort food is always great! I love to save room for my favorite ice cream at the end of the day.
    Thanks.

I had a serving of peanut butter M&Ms instead. YUM. I installed the android app for myfitnesspal and OMG I love it. Tracking could not be easier. I'm dying to try out the barcode function!

I installed the sparkpeople app first and promptly deleted it. Mfp is much easier to navigate, the database is better, I definitely prefer it. Smartphones = a calorie counter's best friend.
  • EXACTLY!! I love MFP.
  • I am never buying chicken drumsticks again. They are one of my weaknesses. It is ridiculous, I will gorge myself on drumsticks. Last night I was good and only had 1, today I had 2 and I left no room for an evening snack. I need help. There are more and I definitely have the urge to eat them.

I'm also feeling down because I have lost weight but I have so much fat, which means I need to tone. Simple solution would be to tone, but I am so lazy. I have no problem counting calories but lately, I just don't want to work out. My husband comes home next month and I really want to be more defined. Not only for him, but for me as well.

I didn't go to the gym today because it is windy, rainy, and chilly outside and I just don't want to go out in that. I'm going to force myself to do Cardio Kickbox by Jillian Michaels tonight. Maybe I will sneak in a small snack with my exercise calories.

*sigh* I just need a kick to get moving and some support.
  • I'll join in! I love these things. I'm going to say by May 30th, I'd like to be doing regular exercise (we'll say 3-4 times a week above and beyond my normal activity) and I'd like to lose 5 pounds.

I was horrible the past couple of days! I went to a concert on Thursday (which was amazing) and did a very little bit of drinking (margarita, beer, wine- ha, had to hit all three!) over four hours but just that little bit of drinking made me crave greasy foods. So, after the concert we went around to find an open pizza place. I had a slice of pizza, two chicken wings, and a small (zeppoli- is that what they are?). Not bad, but I'm sure with the alcohol calories...yikes.

The next day I had french toast at an IHOP, and bacon of course. Had about half of the ft, so that was around 450 calories. I had a turkey wrap for dinner last night (eh...there was bacon in it too). I did go for a decent walk last night.

And to top it off, I had a slice of cheesecake for breakfast this morning- yikes!

I don't feel guilty, strangely, about overdoing it the past two days, simply because I needed to let loose, and compared to me letting loose in the past, this was NOTHING. It was a lot more in tune with a "normal" person letting loose. Except for the breakfast cheesecake thing this morning...that I'm feeling the guilt on.

Today, I'm going to "detox" the rest of the day- really just a lot of water and light foods. I don't have the time to exercise today, but maybe I will when I get home tonight.

Alright, apologies for the book! Had to get these things off my chest. Hope everyone is doing well!
  • I have my WW meeting this morning. I will go and WI for my official weight. According to my home scale I've lost a little over 1 lb this week. So we'll see what WW says. I don't think I'm staying for the meeting, though.

I will have a snack and then I am going for a 90 minute zumbathon/cancer fundraiser this morning. I anticipate earning enough calories to eat some pancakes for a 'brunch' afterwards.

    CorinneIrene: Welcome!

Ekicna: Do you have any friends there to workout with? I find having a fitness buddy helps keep me motivated. Maybe you just need to find something you really like (zumba, boxing, weightlifting) that will become a new hobby for you. Hope you find what you need soon!
  • Fit4Lyfe: thanks To answer you question, no you don't have to take Alli forever. They say most of the weight and effectiveness is within the first 6 months. I wondered the same thing so I did some research. After you lose the weight, yes your body will be used to having Alli taking 25% of the fat out so if you stop taking it are you going to gain that 25% back? It depends on if you keep up with your healthy lifestyle. By that time your metabolism is up, and you won't need as many calories and grams of fat as you were taking in before so it should equal out and it's like doing a low carb diet...if you go right back into eating bad carbs again..alot..then you gain back the weight, but if you slowly introduce it back in and keep to the healthy choices then you can keep the weight off. I'm taking this thing day by day so we will see

Fruitlady: thanks and i'm glad to see you are doing well And it's good to give yourself a cheat day for Mother's Day.

CorinneIrene: Glad your back, missed ya

Spooky: how do you like WW? I've always considered doing it but didn't know enough.

Ekicna: I'm sending you hugs we are all here for you for support, and whenever you are ready to start toning I know you'll keep major bootie!

today I'm 143.8 again, which i'm happy about, because since i have 25lbs, well 23lbs to lose now, if i loose too much weight a week it's not really fatloss, and I know I'm heading in the right direction. will post more later, but need more coffee first. Have a great day!
  • Hello! I weighed in today and I have lost 2 lbs this week for a total of 60 pounds since I started my journey!

Ekicna-I am feeling you about the exercise...I just can't get motivated and I really am seeing that my body needs some toning up!
Jdonato-I'm gald Alli is working for you. My sister is going to start it soon.
Corinne Irene-It's it great that you can just pick yourself up after making some bad choices and just get back on plan? Good for you!
  • Quote: Spooky: how do you like WW? I've always considered doing it but didn't know enough.
I think WW is a good program if you really don't know how to eat right. When I signed up for WW the FIRST time I was at my highest weight and had never thought about food or nutrition and really needed that hand-holding to tell me I needed so many servings of fruit/veg, water, protein, etc. I'm telling you I was clueless.
I haven't had much luck with the new Points Plus plan. It works and with it I've lost almost 20 lbs since January but it has been very slow I think because it expects you to drop down to a bare bones calorie level that doesn't support much activity. Once I started tracking my exercise and counting calories in addition to points my losses started to improve and now I'm at the point where I think I can drop WW and just calorie count. It takes the guesswork out of points and extra points and activity points and whether or not to use them. I have a calorie target, I eat back my exercise cals to maintain my net deficit, end of story. Much simpler.
Plus there are the meetings which is good if you are the type of person who needs that social interaction and support. I don't have anything bad to say about WW I just don't think it is what I need right now.

Sorry if that was a super long answer!
I lost 1.8 this week! I have to scroll back to the beginning to see what my challenge total is so far.
  • Ok, this is sort of confusing for me because I have my WW scale number and my home scale number. My goal at the start of the challenge was: SW according to my home scale: 224.6. So I hope to be at 219.6 by memorial day.
This morning I was 219 on my home scale, 217 at WW. So I've met my goal already (crazy, right?) and will revise it and say I hope to see 214 on my home scale by memorial day.
  • Ekicna- Keep your chin up! We all have those moments, but you'll get that toning in!

Spooky- Congrats on reaching your goal already. 5lbs gone!

I'm going to FORCE myself to take a walk today. Did the same yesterday. Just feeling a little blah. Probably because I know I'm not going to hit my walking goal despite having the time this week. Ah, well. Something is better than nothing. Just keep repeating.

Had a "light" breakfast of toast with butter and a generous glass of orange/mango/banana juice. Had a calorie-counter moment when I realized, "THIS is 400 calories?!" Maybe not the best spent 400 calories, but it's just what I felt like when I woke up this morning. Not sure what I'll do for lunch, but dinner is going to be tasty chicken w/broccoli, tomatoes, and rice. Looking forward to an on-plan day.
  • Thanks everyone. Last night, I did some push ups and crunches, and arm (bicep/tricep) workouts and then I did 8 mins of cardio kickboxing. I know 8 mins is better than nothing, but at the end of the day after 3 children, I am dog tired and then I still have homework to do.

I don't have a workout buddy because I usually do things at home because of the kids. Then when I decided I wanted to go to a gym, I got sick and now the weather outside is atrocious and I don't want to leave the house.

Since it's my TOM, I am happy to be holding steady at 115.0, up 0.2lbs from 114.8. As long as I don't get any higher than that, I think I will be okay once my TOM leaves. Hopefully, I will see a nice loss.

It's a new day and I'm going to get some cardio in before breakfast. Have a great day everyone!

I have to force myself to move today too...IDK how, but I am stuck, I feel like I may need a rest, but do I really need 2 days to rest? probably not, so maybe a walk is in order...no idea.

Oh thanks for clearing it up...I have thought about Alli but I'm afraid to gain any weight back after i stop taking it, ya know? lol, you're rocking this challenge, you should be at your goal weight in no time.

Hey no apologies needed, we all need to let the steam off! As long as you're ready to jump back on the horse, then go you, you're half-way there.

Quote: I had a HORRIBLE day at work. I don't know what is going on with the planets but I am ready to go the **** to bed. My feet are KILLING me.

Right. You are rocking it, and if my SO managed a bar, I don't think I could calorie count anything, lol.

Quote: Thanks, Im finally just about over this cold and I think I'm going to try to hit the gym tonight. It will be my first time in almost 10 years. Aside from a couple of yoga classes I've gone to.

When I want a candy bar or chocolate specifically, I eat a Special K Protein Snack Bar. The chocolate peanut butter bars taste just like a candy bar for 110 calories.
Oh I hate the gym (lol), I like working out outside that way if I get too hot and fatigued, I can pick up a breeze or something, lol. I need to start toning myself because building muscle while losing fat is supposed to be primo for a great body. That's my summer goal, to start lifting, for sure. And I hate Special K, lol...but the "candy bar fiasco" (as I'm now coining it) is literally a once-in-a-blue moon thing, so I don't feel too bad about it, I do have alternatives for my chocolate addictions, just not that day.

Quote: Fit: do you normally avoid chocolate completely? I know the "moderation" approach doesn't work for everyone, but for me, I usually have some kind of treat (i.e., skinny cow bar, fun size candy bar...something 100 cals or less) pretty much every day. I figure it's better than depriving myself and bingeing, which is what I KNOW I would do eventually. (Not that what you did was a "binge", but you know what I mean!)
Umm, no (lol) I have my treats but that day I just did it and it's okay, it was kind of a binge and I'm over it. On another "calorie-ok" indulgence tip, they just started selling the Skinny Cow candies at my stores and MHM!!! They are good, I live chocolate-covered peanut clusters...with the caramel? Well they have something similar with crisps in a pretty decent-sized bag for 120 calories and only 9 grams of sugar, so I was pretty happy about that, I also eat Chocolate & Oats Fiber One Bars, 140 calories and fiber?!?!?! SCORE! It tastes just like a candy bar.

Okay, I cheated today...lol, no ton calories on my weigh-in. It's Saturday and I don't have anything to do today, so I wake up at 7AM and I weigh in at 237.8, it sucked but I was like, going back to sleep or whatever...then I woke back up at 10AM and weighed in again at 236.6, I'm recording the later one because I just want to see it one day, lol, I know it will go back up tomorrow but whatever, I just needed to see that low of a number today. I'm also thinking of changing my weigh-in days but Monday is the most logical for me that I can find, I work out pretty much Monday through Friday so throughout the week I have lactic acid and muscle retention that will make me weight higher than it should be, but then on the weekends I like to have some cheat time, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, lol. Anyway, I was happy to see that number today, so I'm going to enjoy the day!!! You all enjoy it too!
  • Walked for 36min this morning then had lots of running around to do, it's my fruit shopping day. Had 1194 calories and still no cravings for junk, I think I'm detoxed. At this point I don't know that I will have a cheat day for Mother's Day, if I'm hungry for it, I will. It's supposed to be nice out, we are thinking about toasting marshmallows on the firepit & hubby likes to grill. I don't like food cooked on the grill, so I'll pass. Now the marshmallows are a different story!
  • I did an hour of Cardioke today, plus abs, biceps/triceps, and push ups. I feel so accomplished. Although, I did polish off the rest of the ice cream I had and I added chocolate chips to it. I get crazy during my TOM and I feel so 'complainy' and I binge. *pout* This is really messing up my weight loss plan. Good side to it all, it motivated me to exercise.
