Usually the first game or two is really hard as we're all out of shape and I'd love to beat that. Of course, I would also love to have my knee healed by then too so I can actually run... What was the "trigger" or incident that made you decide it was time to lose weight and become more fit? There was no particular incident. It was gradual, the noticing of my weight and the eating healthier stuff. I was suddenly noticing that hey, these pants don't fit like they used to so I would make small choices to eat better and then one day I decided to take it more seriously. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? I struggle when I see a week or two of no results. It begins to tick me off and I find temptations such as an extra helping of XYZ a lot more alluring What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? I need to become more strict with my food diary, I would like to go to the gym more often and stop complaining about the dang Canadian winters here that stop me from going outside and doing things like i would in the summer. (Evil motivation ) Who do you want to look better than? My cousin, I guess. My sister too even. I've always been the other sister, the other cousin. I'm sick of it. What can you not wait to wear when you are at goal weight or size? I have this skirt that I bought years ago, when my weight was a lot lower. It was tight then but I bought with friends so I just went with it and said that the size four skirt fit me well. I want to fit in that skirt, with extra room available. |

It was a scary experience because I had a couple complications and his heart rate dropped. My husband and I want more kids, but I need to be healthy to do it. I already knew it but sometimes having other's tell the truth makes you really want to work at it to prove to them that you don't always have to be fat and that you're just going through a "rough" time. I want to eat til I'm stuffed when I am liking the taste of the food. What was the "trigger" or incident that made you decide it was time to lose weight and become more fit? I'd been under a lot of stress this year, and then got really sick in October. I'd always been the fairly healthy fat person, while I would get winded climbing steps or something I never really had major health problems. Well, it all seemed to catch up with me at once, and boy was that a wake up call. I don't want to be that sick ever again. Nor do I want to be diabetic, which is straight where I was headed. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? I want to exercise more, but don't always have the motivation for it. Also, a big part of my social life was going out with friends to a bar or co-workers to happy hour. I have had to cut that back drastically and that has been tough. But I would rather feel good than the way I felt a few months ago, even if that means being the one to order water or decline an invitation. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? Getting enough sleep so that I have enough energy, not waiting to get so hungry I overeat, being consistent. (Evil motivation ) Who do you want to look better than? : There are a couple of friends who I have distanced myself from when I realized that they were not supportive, or preferred to keep me the way I am because they don't think when I am big I am competition. I hate that kind of thing, but the thought of them seeing me when I am done makes me secretly happy. What can you not wait to wear when you are at goal weight or size? I want to be able to pull off wearing almost anything. I have always felt so limited all my life in what I could wear, due to a lot of things either not looking good, or me not having enough confidence to buy and wear it. Age/Age Range: 19 years young! Family Life: I live at home with my mom while I go to college. I have two sisters (3 and hald and 23... I love them with everything I have!) Occupation: Student/Barista Hobbies and Interests: Well until about three weeks ago, it was working, sleeping, watching TV and the internet. But NOW I am into exercising, being outside, GOING outside, attempting YOGA :rofl: (I'm not very coordinated hehe), working, studying and regaining my health (and size 12's lol) Favorite Music: I love Elton Johhn the most, but I'll listen to anything. What are your fitness/health goals? Ah. I want to be skinny. But, more importantly, I want to be healthy. I want to be able to walk up a few flights of stairs without sounding like i'm trying to huff and puff until I blow a house down. I want to be fit so that when I want to have children I don't have any weight-related complications. I cannot wait for the day that I can accept invitations to go hiking with my bofriend's family. Well, when I hit 200 pounds I literally went into a depression. At 19, that was the last thing I expected. For me, the Freshman 15 turned into the Freshman 25. After that I sort of "gave up". I stopped trying to control my weight because I thought it didn't matter. Then, I saw a few pictures of myself and honestly couldn't believe it. When I look in the mirror, I really don't see myself as being as fat as I looked in those pictures. It was a real wake-up call, considering just three years ago I was the smallest I had ever been. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? I don't like healthy foods. I hate vegetables, most fruits and I don't like things without salt. I am having to traing myself to "like" things that I honestly can't stand. Working out really isn't too bad, but I hate that feeling of exhaustion and knowing I have to keep going... I think I struggle with what everyone struggles with, but it isn't enough to keep me down. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? I need to start counting my calories more effeciently and watching my fat intake and sodium intake as well. I need to get a set exercise schedule because as of now I only do it whenever I can fit it in, instead of making it a priority. I also need to realize I'm not going to lose weight overnight... I set unrealistic goals sometimes. (Evil motivation ) Who do you want to look better than? : Oh my goodness. A few women on my boyfriend's side of the family that I just know look at me and judge. And a few women in my OWN family who i've never felt as pretty as. Oh yeah, and all my skinnier friends... okay. Most people probably think i'm out of my mind but I think about this ALL the time. I honestly have had to stop myself from buying things that are way too small because I want to wear them when i'm skinny. But my "ideal" outfit? A pair of fitted, faded jeans with a little flare at the leg, a tight white t-shirt and a cute brown belt with cute flip flops with the perfect accessories to match. It's a classic outfit that you can't pull off with a belly that jiggles lol My goal "reward" is a complete makeover (Hair style, color, facial, mani & pedi, massage, new make-up) and I cannot wait for the day that I get all of that done, but on my "goal" outfit and just go to lunch with my sister or boyfriend and feel cute and normal. Hobbies and Interests: I'm a political/news/celebrity gossip junkie. I love reading and learning new things (except things that involve math, lol), and I'm constantly on the internet. Weird. I love walking/jogging too. What are your fitness/health goals? I want to get down to a comfortable weight for me, which is about 170-180. I looked and felt great at that weight, and that was back when I was 14 and 5 inches shorter. :P And I have had knee problems my entire life, since I fell and twisted both my knee and ankle when I was little. Weighing less would help ease this. What was the "trigger" or incident that made you decide it was time to lose weight and become more fit? It's been sporadic. I lost 30 lbs in Spring of 2007 and another 30 in Spring of 2008. I didn't lose any last year as I was too stressed out by the goings-on of Wal-Mart What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? Binging. I can sit down with a huge bag of any sort of sweets and eat them all in one go, sometimes the caloric counts are 1000+ in less than an hour. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? Work on spreading out my eating times. I tend to eat a lot at once. I need to work on having a little at once, then a little a couple hours later, etc. (Evil motivation ) Who do you want to look better than? Everyone is always amazed at my legs because even at 235 pounds, I have such skinny legs. I realize this, but I just can't stand to wear shorts because I'm not comfortable. |

I REFUSE to be 300+ unless I am carrying A LOT of water weight, or end up prego (not trying) before I lose 20 more pounds. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? Severe back pain, but that is not a problem now that my doc finally understood my problem, and upped my pain meds. Also, PCOS, though as I have had it since childhood, and consequently gained LOTS of muscle as a teen, I have an easier time losing weight (medicated) than most women with this condition. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? I need to pay more attention to what I eat. It is really my only problem, as my exercise habits are pretty good when I have said pain pills. I have been in nutrition classes since I was a child (always over-weight) so I know WHAT to do and eat, it is just a matter of getting it done. Hi everyone... I haven't been around for awhile... *bad me!*
Anyways, I was on Atkins for a little under 2 weeks, and I simply cannot eat all that meat, fried and stuff. A little is okay, but not all the time. And I did eat alot of broccoli and cauliflower. But, wayyyyyyyy too much cheese! So, I am thinking that I can lose weight by counting calories. I have been at the same weight, give or take 3 pounds, for over 3 years. I first stopped smoking which probably put on 15 pounds. then, I was taking a prescription drug, that I found out 2 years later, was the reason I was gaining weight, 20# worth each year!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, mad wasn't the word for that one! After that, it was 'oh, I'm getting old, who cares attitude'. Then I started thinking health-wise and knew the stomach fat was NOT good at all. so, here I am! Hope to learn alot (all over again), plus some new ideas and get to losing. |

Stepping on the doctor's scale and seeing such a drastic jump definitely made me realize it was time to change the diet I'd had for years, and that being on medication definitely slowed my metabolism a great deal. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? Staying motivated. When I fall into a depression, I do tend to munch- most of the time, it's just a little, but even a little of something high in calories can really throw me off course. I suppose my thinnest friend, who can just eat and eat and eat and never gets any heavier than 115! I don't know how she does it. (And she has such great abs!!) It was just years of build-up, really. I guess I finally just told myself, "You can't be roly-poly forever. This has GOT to stop" and really meant it. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? : Exercise. I hate it. And eating enough food--surprisingly enough. Calorie counting has helped this to some extent--I can have what I want (within reason) as long as I have the calories for it and the app I have on my iPhone helps to remind me to eat enough calories for the day. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? : Eat more fruit. Drink LOTS more water (I drink mostly water and tea, but not nearly enough water). Start exercising. My closet is fulled with size 4 Jeans all the way up to Size 16.. I am either one or the other! I know exactly how to do it, and when I commit..I do it well. But "something" always seems to come up and the weight comes back on. My most recent weight gain was due to pregnancy. What do you struggle with the most on this journey to health? Getting past the 10lb mark and continue to lose. The last 3 years I lose 10lbs then gain it back. I have yet to successfully get on track for the long haul. What are three things in the area of diet/exercise you need to improve? Watching sodium and processed foods. I would like to learn how to lift weights properly again.
