Got my sprints in this morning, great workout. I just love getting it in, in 20 min.

Yesterday went OK, yea just OK lol Ended with a high calorie day 1846 calories. Im pretty sure it was the Mc Double and small fries that set off the hunger the rest of the day. You think lol
Opps Ate garbage. Yes I'm human and there are days that I will eat the crap that's not good for me. And I was on the soap box in earlier post no crap all natural. I still believe it and Now I am eating at least 90% of the time natural non processed foods. Also I am feeling the effects, bloated and tighter feeling clothes and kinda blaaaish. Whats that old saying you play you pay.

Looking forward to going to the store hopefully soon. It is really a bum to not have the money to buy food, except a few thinks here and there. But after watching the news since Japan was hit by the earthquake and Tsunami I am so grateful for my oatmeal.

I'm Not stress out over yesterday and I think that is the big key through this whole thing. Not starting over because I had a day that was not perfect. Just keep going. In this past 7 weeks If I started over every time I had a crappy day I would never get off of day 1. Then I would have thrown the whole thing out the window. I've been there I use to blow a day and spend days saying OK starting over, then quit, and gain.

kk off to get some cleaning done. Have a great day.

Gm all. yesterdays calories were much better. 1460 calories.

This morning tried on some paints that were beyond snug. They now have a little gimme room. Not totally at that comfy stage but close. I'm a way's out from getting back into my 6's but still planing on being in them by the end of the year.

The sun is out today, Yea!

Did the middle of the night raid thing. It is amazing how a person can wake up hit the kitchen and crab crap, stuff it in and go back to bed. I did that twice for a total of 765 calories. Heck that would be a huge healthy meal, but was very little food. Some chips, walnuts, and 1 cookie. Very little food for all those calories.

Now there is no way I am going to have only 700 calories today. I can attempt to keep it lower. I am not going to stress all day that I blew it. I have learned that it really isn't worth the worry, ghee that's going to set me back a year, don't think so lol. may be a few hours.

The goal here is, yes to lose 50 lbs this year. But I am going through a process to learn to eat healthy. I am not going to change bad habits over night. Each day I try to improve my eating habits, that will become natural habits down the road. I am eating so different now then I did when I started this. And I am willing to except this is not an over night fix.

So ONWARD

Weighed in this morning, 173.2 lbs. Up .4 Looking at my weights for the past 8 weeks I go up then down up and down. So will just go with the flow here. Pretty bloated this morning due to a lot of processed foods this past week. So more then likely water weight.

This up coming week is going to be a challenge, going out with my kids then going out of town, well see how I do. So 5 out of 7 days will not be eating at home. Don't mind there's nothing worth eating here lol. Well also be moving my weigh-in day to Sundays, so instead of weighing next Thursday will push it back till Sunday.

Well be glad to get this month over, And will get back to normal grocery shopping ect... It was a really cold winter here and the utility bills have been outrages.

On a lighter note, the sun is out and going to be warmer today YEA

Got back yesterday from my mom's. Gotta love mom's. Came back with a small freezer packed with real food lol. Meat, veggies, berries and yes some junk but will send it my sons way.

No since waiting till Monday to get back on track.
Decided to jump on the scale this morning and face the music 175 on the nose.
From my lowest weight 172.8 I am only up 2.2 lbs. Which is not bad for being off plan for almost 2 weeks.
Yep gotta love going home and the food. lol Really didn't go overboard but it was not totally real food, But that's OK I'm home and ready to eat my oat meal. I missed my oatmeal. And I have a really good start on getting good foods built back up. Still need to pick up a few thinks at the store.

Today is my new weigh-in day and will also follow Sft and start my 35 Wp's I will stay away from the omgea 6 foods and continue to try and eat clean. looking forward to eating clean again. I really felt like crap, tired and bloated and achy.

So off to get wash done and piddle around the house. There's no place like home. Have a good one everyone. Going to go fix my oats with blueberries yea

Wow its been a month since I posted. Well dieting went by the curb while I was working on the house. And just frankly got in the eating everything and that is so hard to get out of. been doing a lot of ready tho and yesterday got back on the wagon. Weighing in a few to see the damage.

I started the 5 bite diet which is a very low calorie diet. It comes from Lap band and bypass surgery but with out the surgery. Below is what people live on after they have the surgery.

Quote:
LAP BAND Diet Guidelines
Eating Right with Your Gastric Band is Key to Success

It's important to review and follow this bariatric surgery diet, as it is critical to your recovery and weight loss success.

* Right After Surgery
* Weeks 1 - 2
* Weeks 3 - 4
* Week 5
* Week 6 & Beyond
* Foods To Avoid
* Best Results

The First Few Days After LAP BAND Surgery

In the early weeks it's important not to stretch the small stomach pouch above the band. Vomiting can do this, so it is important not to vomit, as this can also increase the chance of stomach tissue slipping up through the band.

Right after surgery, you can take a sip of water or suck on an ice cube. You should not drink more than this. The day after the surgery, you can take a little more fluid but only a small amount at a time. Besides water, you should also choose clear liquids that have an adequate number of calories. To prevent nausea and vomiting, don’t drink too much.

Back to top
Liquid Diet: 1-2 Weeks Post-Op

During this time, only thin liquids can be tolerated. It’s important to keep hydrated with lots of water. Other liquids recommended during this phase include:

* Clear broth or soup (with no vegetables or meat and not creamy)
* Skim milk
* Fruit juice
* No-sugar added popsicles

Back to top
Pureed Foods: 3-4 Weeks Post-Op

During this phase, you may start having slightly textured foods. Aim for the consistency of baby foods. Eat protein-rich foods first and then move on to fruits and vegetables.

Food for the LAP BAND diet in this stage may include:

* Pureed skinless fish or chicken
* Mashed potatoes
* Peas
* Low-fat yogurt or pudding

Back to top
Soft Foods: 5 weeks post-op

Your meals can now include tender cooked foods like fish and ground turkey. Make it a habit to chew foods well. If you don’t, you may experience vomiting, stomach irritation and swelling. You could also have a stoma obstruction.

If solid foods cause nausea and vomiting, go back to the liquid diet. Then, slowly add soft foods and eventually transition to solid foods.

Back to top
Solid Foods: Your New Nutrition Plan

When you are able to eat solid foods without problems, you will need to pay close attention to your diet after lap band surgery. The gastric band system was designed to restrict solids, not liquids.

Liquids will pass through the upper stomach pouch quickly and will not make you feel full. Drinking liquids during or immediately after meals tends to flush food through the pouch and you will not get the prolonged feeling of satiety needed to help you eat less.

A lot of patients have difficulty with solid foods in the morning. If this is the case for you, open the gastric band by starting with a couple glasses of liquid before your first meal.

Too much food or big chunks of food can block the stomach pouch outlet. Avoid this by chewing your food thoroughly and eating small bits at a time. Remember, your new stoma opening is the size of a dime.

Eat only three meals a day and make sure these meals contain adequate nutrients. Your stomach can only hold about ¼ cup of food, or 2 ounces, at a time. Stop eating when hunger is gone or when you feel comfortable.

Back to top
Foods To Avoid

After you have transitioned to solid foods, you should try to avoid certain foods. Such foods include, but are not limited to:

* Dried fruits
* Asparagus
* Pineapple
* Rhubarb
* Corn (especially popcorn)
* Grapes
* Nuts and seeds (walnuts, whole peanuts, almonds)
* Carbonated beverages
* High calorie foods/drinks

Best Results: 10 Important Rules

Once you are eating solid foods, follow these 10 rules for eating, drinking and exercise to achieve the best results:

* Eat only three small meals a day
* Eat slowly and chew thoroughly
* Stop eating as soon as you feel full
* Do not drink while you are eating
* Do not eat between meals
* Eat only good quality foods -- no junk!
* Avoid fibrous foods
* Drink enough fluids during the day
* Drink only low-calorie liquids
* Exercise at least 30 minutes a day

So after reading a low calorie diet in the shot term is not going to kill you.
If you read the above post
I put in bold, that they(the people who have the surgery)their stomachs can only hold a 1/4 cup of food (solid) or 2 oz liquid. I think that is less then the 5 bite diet.

I am going to do this for 2 weeks. If anyone is interested in the 5 bite diet google it and you should get a bunch of stuff. watch the you tube one it explains it. I will put the link in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW7Er0kti_U
I also went to amazon and read the reviews on the book "Why weight around" and all but one rated the book high.

176.8 is my weight this morning
yep up but at least I didn't put it all back on.

So here is what I will be doing the next 2 weeks.
eating 2 meals a day
That will be 5 bites at each meal of what ever I want.
My calories will range between 500-600 calories. (remember this is short term so no bashing me) Also remember the people who do have the surgery live this way for months to years.
I will weigh only once a week. Scale hoping can be depressing.
This will also reel in the amount of food I eat so it will help learn portion control
My goal is 10 pounds for this first 2 weeks.
I already have a plan to slowly increase calories when I come off the diet. So I don't rebound big time.
I will be taking vitamins to ensure I get my daily's.
This will be hard or not will see, since I don't have my stomach stapled or banded off lol.
I will more then likely do a lot of posting if I feel myself slipping.
Right know I am really hopeful to start getting this weight off and the quicker I get it off and get in to maintaining the better I will feel.
Gorging on food is not healthy and that is what I do. At my age that way of life can lead to a lot of illness that I don't want.
I will hopefully be going back to work soon (everyone say a prayer for me on that one) That will keep me busy and take major stress out of my life.
I will also be seeing my doctor, so will have that in my back pocket.

I did look into all the meal replacement diets, Cambridge, lighter life, and others that have you on the extreme low calorie, But I am not paying for prepackaged foods.
Now with all or most diets getting through the first 3 days is the worst.
But I am going to give this a true effort for the 2 weeks. My choice of foods may be unhealthy in some peoples eyes, But it is my choice and personally I don't care.
I know there is normally some people that like to bash other peoples threads with there great knowledge and believe me I know what I am doing and don't need to hear it from Negative people.
This has been a great board with a lot of encouraging people and would love for it to stay that way.
AND REMEMBER I WILL BE DOING THIS WITH MY FAMILY DOCTOR
So if for any reason He says stop then so be it.

Well since I wrote a book today will take a break and mow the grass. Before rain comes again. So tired of rain

Good luck?

I think the reason extremely obese people are put on that sort of unhealthy diet (low calorie, low nutrient) is because the health risks of being that obese outweigh the health risks of severely restricting calories.

Personally, I've always heard and read that you should aim for no less than 1200 cals a day to ensure proper nutrition.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Remember that you are valuable and important no matter what your weight is and losing weight slowly is more likely to be permanent and not risk your health.

Thank you, Remember this is not long term. My body is so out of wack that this is only a step toward my goal. I was at 130 for 4 years then menopause hit me hard.(i take no drugs) And I have reactive hyperglycemia issues. I am being watched by my doctor closely. The foods I eat will be in the low glycimic range. This by no means is a quick fix. Its a kick start. Also he will be helping me with returning foods slowly and getting to a more normal diet. Then lose the rest at a slower pace.

OK, instead of a lap band on the stomach, I need one on my mouth.
I ended up eating more pizza then had a few nuts and then some pretzels. Oh and don't forget a snickers bar. roughly 1500 calories.

I really feel for people that have to do this. I'm going to continue to count calories today and cut down. Also I had company that brought the pizza and I just got into the whole have fun and go ahead and splurge. But I was somewhat mind full and stayed at a normal calorie range instead of a binge.

Today I am going to see if I can keep it down some. And reach for a piece of fruit. Normally we don't have pizza in the house maybe once a month and was not expecting it.

Hey Surfn!!! Glad to have you back! While you were gone I turned 44yrs old...so I understand somewhat about your challenges.

As someone who has tried just about every diet out there throughout the years...I can attest...it all comes down to calorie counting and moderation anyways. There is no "quick fix". Try to keep your protein up...that's ultra important. Prolly why I can get away with eating so many calories without gaining. But other than that...find your calorie "sweet spot" for losing and try to stick with that. Fit some moderate-high intensity exercise in your daily schedule and VIOLA! You'll break through and reach your goals. There really is no magic bullet. Consistency is more key is what I'm finding out.

Again...glad to have you back in the game...I'm rootin' for ya!
