CC 4th of July Challenge!
Time for a new Calorie Counters' Holiday Challenge! :beach:
Here's how it works: Set yourself one or more goals that you would like to reach in the next (almost) 6 weeks. Any goal that motivates you to stick with your eating and exercise plan is fine. It can be pounds lost, a new clothing size, fitness or performance goals, etc. This is going to be YOUR goal, so you get to decide what it is. Post an intro here, saying what your goal is, plus any other info you want to share, then return to get and give support, report on your progress, or just to chat. Good luck on the challenge! |
Everybody must be busy at work today. :)
I'll start. I finally figured out what to do for goals this time: 1) Kick up into a handstand (on the wall) without assistance. 2) Fit into the 32" waist jeans I've been coveting since the beginning. I also would love to be able to ride my bike to the gym in July, at least on days I don't need to run errands afterward, but since I haven't ridden regularly at all, and the bike kicks my behind, I'm not sure that's realistic. After some test riding this week, I may know enough to add a reasonable goal for miles on the bike. |
My very first challenge!
Goal 1: Lose 8 pounds Goal 2: Exercise 6 days a week |
I'm definitely in for this challenge and I'm hoping that it will be nicer to me this time around ;) LOL
I'm going to keep the same goal from the last time...so my goal is to be below 190. |
4th of July goal : to lose 8 lbs putting me at 159.5
Good luck everyone! |
Okay, ladies!!! I'm in ... I will lose EIGHT pounds by July 4th, even though that period will include about 11 vacation days! I've been making excuses for awhile now ... time to get back on the train and RIDE! :p Good luck, everyone. You'll be the first to know when I see the scale go below 222!!! :) Thanks for starting the thread, jam!
|
to be at the 100lb mark...just cant seem to get there.
|
Hi,
My goals for July 4th are: 1) be 134 lbs 2) run 3 miles in under 30 minutes Good luck everyone! |
I'm in for this challenge also. I think I will shoot for 10 lbs. SW 176. That is a bit on the high side but that will challenge me to work a little harder. Also to run 8 miles and increase my running time to a 10 min mile. Whew I think that will be hard.
|
GOODLUCK WITH YOUR GOALS EVERYONE!

To lose a total of 8 Lbs from todays weight (Scale said 201.6 this morning but yesterday I got to see 200.6 hehehe ~THATS WAS EXCITING) So that would 193.6 For 4th of July challenge. To fit into some size 12 goal jeans I have would be a dream come true. SO LETS GET IT STARTED YEAH~LOL ~Yep I am singing while typing. I'll Type soon. |
To lose 10lbs.
To ride the bike trail at least once a week. Keep my water intake up, at least 80oz a day, I am starting to struggle with this. |

I'd like to join in...
-- Lose 5+ lbs (ie, be below 164 --> the scale read 169.2 this morning) |
LADIES!!
I am so in! Here are my goals: 1. Lose 10 more pounds! 2. Do the 5:45am spin class Mon - Fri 3. Do 30 Day Shred Every night I am so stoked about this! |
Count me in. This is just the sort of thing that I need to motivate myself. My challange is going to be to complete Week 3 of the couch to 5k program. I started earlier this week and I am having a hard time even doing week one. I have only been able to do 4 of the intervules. So completeing week 3 by the 4th should be a real challange for me.
Good Luck everyone:dust: |
Good Morning Friends!
I'm undecided on my goals for this challenge. Despite my hard work lately I appear to be temporarily stuck. I really want to kick things into high gear this next month. I will be in FL the last week of June for a college/sorority reunion and I want to look and feel my best! :D I guess my goal is to completely stay in the "game" mentally and physically! :dizzy: So, what's everyone doing today to work towards your goals? Me....I carefully planned out my food for work with my little cooler of breakfast and snacks to get me through the day. I buy my lunch in the cafeteria, but it's always healthy...I get a stirfry with chicken and lots of veggies! Tonight's dinner is not officially planned, but I believe it will be some leftover chicken and grilled veggies. Tonight I will be at the gym for cardio - 45 min on the treadmill followed by some abs and stretching. I also want to make some time to read Tom Venuto's Body Fat Solution - I've been browsing through it and love what he has to say, just have to find the time to sit down with it! Ok...ramble over. Gotta put on my work hat for now. Later chicks! :) |
Hi all! I would love to join.
My goals: - Lose 10 lbs - Drink 64oz of water everyday - Excerise at least 5 times per week Yay! I am so glad that I found this community. I am excited! :D |
Im in for this challenge.
So I will go to my college gym class every scheduled day and work out the whole time not gab. I will workout at home when I dont have class. I will turn the TV and Computer OFF for 6 hours during the time my husband is at work and move instead of sit. |
Quote:
1 pound down, 7 more to go!!!!! I took everyone's advice and am not re-eating my exercise calories. I'm doing my best to stick to 1350. Here's hoping! |
Welcome to everyone!!:) Lots of people joining this challenge BRAVO! :carrot:

I AM SO HOPING YOU REACH THAT GOAL~I gotta brag to the hubby about ya~AGAIN ~THATS so cool. babenwaiting Good job On the losing a pound already ~YOUR DOING FABULOUS!:D |
Woohoo, we are getting some new challengers on this one, so :welcome: if this is your first CC Holiday Challenge, and welcome back  to all returning challenge junkies (lol)!
Lori, thanks on the handstand. I was totally shocked that I could hold the handstand at all, even with help getting up there. Now that I know I won't fall on my head, I feel like it's just a matter of practice (and nerves :brr:) till I can kick up into a handstand all by myself. That's the theory, anyway, lol. BTW, I like that song you were singing...that's a good song to jamskate to. Well, I'm still sick with some bronchitis or similar PITA thing that has me coughing all night and can't breathe half the time. Annoying! I've tried working out, but anything that requires heavy breathing just turns into a coughing fit. So, I've just been trying to make up for missed workouts by doing a couple hours of yard work every day. It's not quite the same, but it's something, and I have been sticking to my eating plan. I really miss going to the CF gym, but can't use up the rest of this month's training cuz of being sick and contagious. Hmmph! Hopefully, the crud will be gone in a few more days, and life can get back to normal. I might try another workout this evening when it cools off a little, and see if I can do SOMEthing resembling a workout without choking to death. Once you get addicted to working out, it's like torture not being able to do it! |
Count me in too. This will be my first challenge. My goals:
1. Lose 5 pounds 2. Work out 5 days a week I am stuck at 138, so this will be good for me. :cb: |
down, .5 with 7.5 left to go!
|
Can I join now?
I'd like to lose 8 lbs. Exercise, say, 6 days per week (I got the Nintendo Wii EA Sports Active and I started the 30 day challenge. Started it yesterday. I'd like to complete that!) Hope it's not to late to start! MrsLovett! |
I am in! I am so glad I went on this site today. I have been out of the loop for some time and need to get back into the swing of things
lose 8 pds drink my water watch my carbs exercise at least 5 days a week Try to plan meals ahead of time..now that I am home and able to do this!!! |
Amy and Festivus, congrats on the weight loss so far! You'll be done in a week at this rate. :lol3:
New challengers, welcome and good luck! I'm glad to see so many setting some non-scale goals as well, this time. Usually, I'm the only one who doesn't have a scale goal (just because, to be realistic, my 4th of July goal would be like, "lose 2 pounds", lol), so it's nice to have company, this round! Speaking of my new goal, the boy and I did a short workout together today, then spent some time working at different ways to get into a handstand. I tried just being brave and kicking up, but the ground seems a LONG way away and I always chicken out at the last second and bend my arms or something stupid. It was fun to try, anyway. Then we fiddled around with lifting heavy objects like logs and bricks, and played with pull-ups on the apple tree. Big surprise of the day, and those who have been around a while will appreciate this, I got my first chin-up (underhand grip) unassisted today!! :carrot: Then I did it some more, since I didn't really believe it the first time, so I had to do it a few more times, to make sure I wasn't cheating somehow, but it was real! Not the same as a kipping pull-up, which I am still working on, or the mutha of all: the deadhang pull-up, but still a big milestone on the way there! Food was POP (perfectly on plan) today, and TOM is thankfully winding down, so hopefully I will start seeing some new lower numbers on the scale soon. I'd be so happy to be firmly into the 160s in the next few weeks! |
Jams - :carrot: great job on the chin up. Those are tough. It is probably best to give your body a rest if you are coughing that bad. Although I know how rough it is not to be able to exercise. LOL Still cannot believe I am addicted to exercise.
Lori - you will be in onederland in no time. I know when you get close to a goal it seems to take forever to get there. I have been feeling that way for quite a while waiting for me to hit overweight. Barb - sounds like you have a good plan with eating and exercise. I don't remember if you change things up much but if you are stuck you may need to change it up. Hi  to everyone else. It is nice to see so many new people in on this challenge. So I really changed things up this week. I started running intervals which is sprint/jog pyramids. It more turned into sprint/walk intervals. They definitely need work. However I heard that this will really blast the calories and increase the running speed. I want to do both but really increase the running speed. My average (when I do more than one mile is 11 min/mile). Usually the first mile is at 10 min per mile. So far I have tried the sprint/jog intervals twice. The first was on Mon and I did 3 pyramids. The 2nd was Wed and I did 4 pyramids. I ran for one mile before boot camp last night and it came it at 8.5 min. WooHoo. I never expected it to be that good. Now I will have to see if it is improving when I run longer distances. I am doing a 5k in July for the 1st time but I usually run 10k lately. I am also down 2 lbs so far this week from Monday. WooHoo. I am really loving those intervals even though they are killer. Also last night was the last day of boot camp classes. I am going to miss those classes. I love circuit training and they push me (especially in the ab exercises). I am pretty strong so I do well in the upper and lower body strength and also in the cardio. But I love circuit training. |
Hi all- Did good at the college gym class last night. He doesnt make us stay the full 2 hours, because a lot of the time its unrealistic for some of the people. However I made it an hour and a half and tried out some different equipment, I am a treadmill girl but I tried an air bike and stair stepper and this great ab thing that basically helps you to do proper crunches by supporting your body right. I think from now on in the class I can probably at least split my time between the treadmill and the air bike.
I dont have class again until tuesday so my goals for working out at home will be swimming and playing wii with my husband as well as sometime on the treadmill. My DH took our netflix viewer box out of the living room, since we dont have cable now the only tv I have is the digital converter box so that should help with turning off the tv. He brought the good radio out for me so I can listen to music during the day. Good luck everyone! |
Just Checking in
Yesterday I was able to do all 8 of week 1 c25k jogging segments so I am on my way. I am going to repete week 1 but I am sure that I will be able to reach my goal of completeing week 3 by the 4th Congrats to all those who are already making progress. |
How is everyone doing?
I did really good yesterday! I drank my water which is really hard for me and got on the treadmill. |
Hi all ... thanks for the welcome, and the encouragment! :) Just wanted to say that I've dropped the second of my eight pounds ... six to go by the 4th of July. I know that's mostly water but I'll take it! I'm starting water aerobics and long walks within the next couple of days so that should help.
Cheryl, feel better and be careful with that hand-stand (I admire YOU, but I fear the fire department would have to pick MOI up! :D ) Best of luck over the weekend, everyone! :sunny: |
day one so far so good. I went to the gym and did 2 classes back to back...Kick boxing for an hr and than cardio jam for another hr. I was spent but did do it. I am going to try to fit those in a bit more. I had lunch with the dh and had a chicken sandwhich minus the bread and fries. I order steamed brocc instead. I got my water in due to those 2 classes and drank some at lunch.
Sounds like everyone else in doing well. |
Hi everyone!
I feel really bad that I joined this challenge late and I see several people who are already losing pounds! I only joined yesterday and stayed the same weight today. Kept in my calorie range today and went on a 40 minute walk with my baby nephew today. Didn't get to exercise with my Nintendo Wii today, but my nieces ran me ragged again. At least they were in good moods today :) We'll see what the scale says tomorrow! MrsLovett |
