Hi everyone! Sounds like a good Thursday was had all around. It sounds like everyone is giving that little extra bit- knowing that our goal is to become healthier!

I did a better of job of eating slowly, at least at lunch. Dinner I wolfed down :| Must try again!

I'm going to send out a message to any team mates who haven't checked in yet, so they know where we are.

Shay- interesting you brought up the scale. I normally weigh daily but when I was on holidays before this challenge began I only weighed myself once over the 2 week period. I'd like to not be so focused on the number as I become VERY disappointed when the scale moves in the wrong direction- even though I know so many things factor into the scale swings.

May you all have a restful evening!

I guess running just isn't going to happen right now. It is too hot to run outside already, and it just isn't in the budget to sign up for the gym. So I'll have to put that off for a while. I wasn't too excited about running at this weight anyway, as I'm pretty paranoid about injury. Had a good elliptical workout, but an hour sure seems like a long time while you're up there! Even watching TV I got bored after about 40 minutes. Maybe I'll try one of the programs next time.

MonteCristo I know what you mean about the running... I'd been running a few times a week, but it's just SO darn hot here right now. Noooot gonna happen. Maybe try some exercise tapes at home? I like zumba and p90. Beats going outside in the sun, anyway.

LISA - OMG, what a transformation! You are such an inspiration. 35(ish) left, that has to feel great.

Monte Cristo - thanks for the information. My heart rate monitor only does heart rate, I will have to look into a new one. That would be cheaper than a Body Bugg or FitBit or those other type of gadgets.

Shay - I am scale obsessed too. I was only weighing in once a MONTH earlier this year, which worked great until I hit a plateau and then was SOOOOO disappointed when I got on the scale a whole month later and it hadn't budged a single pound. I have been tweaking my diet lately so have been weighing in daily to see what carb level works for me, but once I figure that out I am going to just weigh myself weekly (in time to post for the weight loss challenge cutoff). Those ups and downs really impact my day. Grouch yesterday, down 2 this AM, so am definitely in a good mood today.

Shay & Selway- re: scales. I've read a lot of positive about scales that only tell you if you are lighter or heavier but don't give you a number. I still think it would bum me out if the scale said heavier- even if there wasn't an actual number involved.

Sun is out today! Finally.

Lisa- glad you checked in! Look at you go- AMAZING!!

Hi Red Team
I hope everyone is having a great first week. I'm not sure how much I'll lose this week, I went to the dr yesterday and I'm on predisone for a week. I'm afraid I'm going to bloat baddly out of this, but it's only a week then off of it. She said I had lots of inflamation in my sinus and throat and she needed to get it down. Welcome to allergy season. I still have garden and a couple of grape vines to plant to get planted. Next week I'm subbing twice and then going to visit DS next weekend, so I'll have a few days to be doing yard work during the week, hopefully I'll get the seeds in the garden, I want to wait till the 15th to put plants in because the legend of the 3 frozen kings. It's suprising how often there is a freeze during the 12th, 13th and 14th of May in Iowa.

Happy Belated Birthday Shanhat.

ladysheets Take care of your back and keep walking.

Lisa (wuv) Glad to see you back, you are such and inspiration

To everyone else Have a great weekend

You are welcome. I have the Timex T5H881, cost about $60. You can get it from amazon. It is totally worth every penny, and it isn't even confusing to use!

Happy Saturday all!
We have snow here in Calgary- seriously?! I'm used to it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

How do you handle food on the weekend? During the week, it's easy- I make my lunch take it to work & am mostly able to avoid any distractions. On the weekend it's a different story all together. I turn in to a snack/nibble monster. Busy with chores & running around, I don't sit down for proper meals( except dinner).
What does your weekend food routine look like?

Hope you are looking forward too great Saturday! Happy Cinquo de Mayo! Ole!!

Remember your first week weigh in needs to be posted here by 6:00 pm central time on Sunday May 6th!

CanadaMel, I have the same problem. Weeks are easy, because it's just me and the baby at home and I have all the meals planned out. But on weekends my husband is there all the time, and we go out and do stuff and eat much more spontaneously. I've accepted relaxing a bit on the weekends but trying to stay moderate. I.e., I don't force myself to stay strictly low-carb like I do during the week, but I don't gorge myself on chips either. A small burger (no fries) is acceptable to me, but a super-sized value meal with soda isn't. Seems to be working so far!

Good luck, everybody, on the weigh-in!

Morning everyone!

I went a little off plan yesterday - went out for dinner for a friend's birthday and had 2 drinks. But I kept my food on track. I do fine when I go out to dinner "just because", but when we're out celebrating it's a little tougher to drink iced tea when everyone else is having a cocktail.

This morning I'm off to do my local MS walk. We'll be walking fairly slow, so I'm not going to count it as exercise. I'll have to fit that in later today.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

I eat a bit more intuitively on the weekends. During the week I have to plan a bit more with work and all. On the weekends if I'm not hungry until 10am then I don't eat until 10am. If I want to eat waffles for dinner and turkey chili for breakfast that's what I do. I find I actually eat less on the weekends because I am paying more attention to my signals rather than eating on a schedule.

Hey red team, I'm so glad to be here and hope we can all get to summer a bit slimmer. Mel, snow?? What the what??? I could use some serious sunshine here in WI as well.

We were at an all day rowing regatta for DD that was a few hours away yesterday. I took my "safe" foods with me to snack on and didn't get home until 9 pm. DH asked me to go out for Cinco De Mayo and get some tacos and drinks. I normally would have jumped at the chance. But, I knew that would be a bad choice for the scale today (especially so late), so I just went to bed (plus I was really tired from getting up at 4am). It paid off with a nice loss today. Yay... tough but good choices.
