  • Hello Red Team & welcome to week 1 of the Spring into Summer Challenge.
This is where we can chat & encourage each other during the week.

    A little bit about me:
My name is Mel, an American living in Canada. I have 3 kids ages:11, 10 & 7.
I started my lifestyle change in Jan 2009. I lost 60 pounds at one point, reaching a weight of 147 in April 2011. Since then +/- 10 lbs has crept back on.
This is my 3rd challenge as Red Team Leader & I've lost count of how many challenges I've participated in.

Share as much or as little about yourself as you would like.

Remember this is a positive, supportive, environment.

You must participate in the weekly chat thread to be named the weekly biggest loser.

Our weekly weigh in thread is located here. You may weigh in on whatever day of the week works best for you. Just be sure to post your weight before 6pm central time on Sundays (starting May 6th).
Your starting weight is the weight you posted in the sign up thread- please do not edit your starting weight.

We have 2 other Red Team threads that you may participate in:
    Red Team Exercise thread

    Red Team Nutrition thread

Looking forward to getting to know you all! Let's get this Challenge Started!
  • I'm Shana, turning 31 on Tuesday. (May Day baby.) Was dx'ed with Stage 1 hypertension on 6/6/11 at 190 lbs. Have lost 31 lbs. Married, with two cats and no kids.

I'm a writer (boring stuff, sadly no fiction!) and have a huge deadline on Friday. Then I'm allowed to breathe -- next project is due 9/1. So I'm basically a zombie right now ... a zombie in desperate need of a new bathing suit.
  • Hello to all new and returning members,

My name is Jennifer. I am from Toronto but live in Kingston, Ontario (halfway between Toronto and Ottawa).

I took part in the last challenge but didn't finish, sadly

I started at 180 and managed to get down to the mid 170s at one point. However I have been under a lot of stress lately ( I work for Corrections and found out that the facility I work out is going to be closing , so there is a lot of uncertainty). Stress = eating for me

For this challenge I am hoping to lose between 10-15 pounds.

I look forward to talking with everyone over the next few weeks
  • Hi, I'm Kris.

This is my first challenge. I've been on Medifast for a year now, and I feel like I need a little competition to kick me back into serious losing mode (aka quit cheating). All my real life friends just keep telling me how great I've done, but I don't want to get complacent and fall off plan before I get to goal. And while I like the Medifast food, I don't want to be eating it 5 times a day for another year.

I'm 39 and single, with 2 furry Corgi children. My last straw was last winter when I went bridesmaid dress shopping. My jeans were size 20 and 22, but I was going to have to order the biggest size dress (28), and then it was going to need alterations to drape properly over my big upper belly. After I dried my tears, I started looking for a way to lose weight that would finally work for me. I settled on Medifast, and I am happy with my decision. I lost 50 pounds before the wedding, and had to have 4 inches taken OUT of that bridesmaid dress.

Let's do this - go red team!
  • Hi Red Team!
I'm Bette and I live in east central Iowa on a farm. I love this time of year with the baby calves running in the pasture and getting my garden started. I also substitute teach at the same school I graduated from. I was doing really well the last challenge but when the challenge was over I let myself go and ate too much chocolate.
I've been married 31 years and have 2 children, a son who is 22 and in the army, and a daughter who is 10.
My goal is to get below 200 and make a habit out of exercising and being active. I want to be able to run with my daughter this summer.
Everyone have a great first week
    Bette K
  • Hello there my fellow red team losers!

This is my first biggest loser challenge and I'm psyched! I'd love to drop about 20 pounds over the next few weeks, some of the weight that I had packed on while going through my divorce and all that lovely stuff. But hey that's old news - and this is a fresh start!

Not only that, I have three little cutie pies (2, 3 & 8) that I want to set a good example for. I'm looking forward to being active and having a blast with them this summer, gone are the summer's of trying to cover up and stay away from the beach.

These next few weeks are going to help me do just that! I need to become physically/mentally/emotionally strong and fit - and kick butt!! (the blue teams butt! hehe)

Looking forward to our journey together - yay red team!!
  • Hello everyone,
I've been on & off this site for a few years now. I've participated in many of these challenges. Started WW online 3 weeks ago and it is going really well. Not sure how much I want to lose during the challenge. I will be happy weighing less than when I started. Currently working on fitting into tons of jeans & capris that I purchased but never got to wear.
  • Hello teammates!!!

My name is Mary. I will be married 25 years this year to a great guy! We have 3 kids-ds (28), dd (22), dd (20) and 1 granddaughter (4, almost 5) and a daughter-in-law! Only my youngest lives home. So very quiet here most of the time

Been on diets most of my life. Morbid obesity runs in my family so have been watching my weight since I was a kid. Have done every diet imaginable. Was at 199 at my highest sans being preggo. Found hcg last year and was able to lose 25 lbs in 2 rounds. Put back on about 8 lbs. But just cannot do that again. Starting the 17 day diet today with some modifications. Would like to lose another 15 lbs. to reach goal.

Looking forward to getting to know you all
  • Hello Red Team ! Yeah !

My name is Tammy I live in Kentucky on a farm. I love to garden . We also have cattle and a construction company. However, I am free to go the gym pretty much whenever I want ! I have one daughter who lives on Long Island ,NY she will be going to grad school there soon. I am sooo proud of her ! I have had weight issues all my life . I am happy when I am under 200 lbs. Doctor said all my numbers were good except my weight . This has only been since my weight loss . I have lost my Mother, Dad, and only brother to heart attacks or strokes. When I eat I always try to think what would help keep my arteries clean .

I have gained some weight back . I blame it on surgery I just had 6 weeks ago. I had gotten a tear in my achliles tendon. Now I have some screws in my heal. I am doing PT . I think everything is coming along fine at the point. Starting to do water aerobics now. Exercising with limitations right now but NOT gonna let anything stop me from reaching my goal !!!!!!

  • Good morning red team. Here's to a great first week of our challenge.

It's good to see people checking in. We have 25 people on the team, so I may send out a reminder to let people know where we are.

I'm vowing to journal my food to make myself more accountable to what goes in my mouth. I am a terrible goal setter, but would like to lose 10 pounds during this challenge. Hopefully by writing it down, not just thinking it I can make it happen.

    Have a great day!
  • Good mornings reds!

I'm Antonia. I'm 26 and I live in Arkansas with my cats Alexei & Lyla and my dog Sydney. I lost 70lbs previously, but had some pretty bad family stuff happen and I lost all control and ended up right where I started.

For this challenge my goal is to lose 26lbs, finish the C25K, 100 pushups (lvl 1), and 200 situps (lvl 2) programs. I'd like to do 1 pullup by the end too, but that may not be possible.
  • My name is Kim. I'm 32 years old and live in SC. I'm a mom of 3 amazing kids ( 10, 4, and 3). I haven't always been this size, but after my 4 year old the weight has just crept up. I have been on this journey to get my life back since December 27, 2011. I've had some rough weeks at times, but since I joined this challenge I have vowed to stay on track and this weekend was the first in a long time that I have stayed on track.

For this challenge my goal is to break my weekend binge habit and lose as much as possibe so I can get on my way to having a healthy and long life.
I plan to get in at lease 40 minutes of exersice daily.
  • Good morning red tem!

I am really looking forward to this challenge as I am fed up and seriously need to get this weight off. I can't keep keep losing and gaining. So, my plan is to log my foods, count calories, and exercise at least 5 days a week.
I am 41, (42 in another month),and I am a mom of three - ds (13), dd (11), and ds (9). I am currently attending college and will be graduating at the end of July. I have been busy and stressed, but it's been worth it.

    Let's have a great week
  • Good morning red team! My name is Kate and I happy to be part of this team and this challenge. I am turning 40 at the end of May and am looking to get my weight under control this year. I have two little ones, 2 and 4, which keep me busy. My weight loss goal for this challenge is 30 lbs. I know that sounds ambitious, but I am really working hard to make this happen. I have lost 74 lbs. since January and plan to be a lot closer to my goal by the end of this challenge! I look forward to getting to know you all better over the next few months. Have a great day!
  • Good monday mornin everyone,
sounds like we have some real motivated gals on here.I am one too. I am going to see my family in missouri june1,so that is my motivation right now to lose and look the best i can by then and keep the ball rollin.

My name is Brenda i am 48 live in alaska with my husband and kitty we have no children and a pretty quiet life. I love to garden and cook.
I am in a new place in my life. I have always worked hard. I was a CNA/medical assistant for 20 years. Im now disabled due to a congenital back problem and have a lot of time on my hands since i can no longer work a full time job. Its a big adjustment.

I had lost 36 pounds on medifast and started eating again after a spinal fusion surgery i had in october. gained most of it back..
ive lost 15 of it since january and wanna keep going. I can afford the medifast but it gave me a good start and i learned how to eat 5 times a day to keep my hunger under control. small 100 to 110 calorie meals every 3 hours.. works for me...then a lean and green meal at night.

Best of luck to everyone, im pumped and ready to LOSE !!!
