Just popped in to say hello and wish everybody a marvelous POP day. BTW...all this talk about hula hoops makes me want to go out and buy one. It would be great to do, even if just at commercials at night. How many calories can your burn hula hooping?? I finally feel like I have control of myself, I know I can do this, I will lose weight and feel better for myself! Have a great day ladies! |
The Daily Plate says Hula Dancing burns 400 calories an hour. I can barely keep it going more than a minute or two, but Mel gets it going a good 15 minutes right?

Good morning everybody,
I was so excited to get another full REDWINS yesterday. The try something new stumps me sometimes, its hard to try something new every day, but I was lucky that our cardio kickboxing instructor threw in a new exercise I had never done before. OUCH...my butt and hips are killing me today! Wow, you ladies sure do post late. I was online all day at school until about 3:30 and only a few posts from ksk, then I get ontoday and there is a whole page full of posts. Wish I could get on later in the evening, but usually i'm beat! LOL I bought a hula hoop a few days ago but i've only used it a few times. I do have many DVD's that I like....my prevention walking DVD, and Dance DVD....and the turbo jam ones are great. I have a few old ones like the buns of steel which i Love, but i get enough of those bun and ab workouts with cardio kickboxing. Hope everyone has a great day today! Everyone seems to be doing great. So by my estimate, at 400 calories/hour that would equal .11 calories a second. So 15 seconds would burn 1.65 calories. ;)

Andi...I hope you got a great nights sleep and let that body recoup! Excellent job on that C25K!! You are doing so great! Jen...I never thought hula'ing would be a great workout but it is!! I can totally feel it in my abs, now if I could ever keep that thing swinging for longer!! LOL! Its all the fun of it! Make sure you get one that is big enough for your height. A hula hoop when stood in front of you should come anywhere between your belly button and breast area (and it doesnt count if the breasts are at the belly button! LOL) |
Okay I'm so sorry ladies for being an awful team mate the last couple of days! I don't know what my deal is, but I'm in a funk. Well I know part of my deal is that TOM is due any day now. I feel like a total failure because my eating has been crap. Oh and then last night at my meeting I totally break down and start crying in front of these women...talk about feeling like a moron! I've only known them a little over a month and here I am bawling my eyes out. Now part of that had to due with TOM, and the other half I think was just feeling like an idiot sitting there knowing I've been eating so much crap, so when it was my turn to talk I lost it! I binged on crackers and pretzles on the way to the meeting and then once I got home and Kev went to the gym I had a love fest with the candy. I couldn't believe myself even as I was doing it. Then Kev came home from the gym and I ate dinner with him like I was starved. I don't know what to do. Every night I tell myself tomorrow is going to be better, but so far it hasn't been. I know for sure I'll be taking a freebie this week. With TOM and my eating I know WI won't be good, and I don't plan on getting on the scale. That will just further depress me. I have been keeping up with my exercise though, so that is one positive! I just feel

Okay I don't know why that just posted mid sentence, weird! Anyway I was saying I feel like crap, and need to shake myself out of it. I'm going to wipe my slate clean and try again today. Today is day 1 for me.

Rennie...Diva has one of those fancy pancy hula hoops! I'm getting myself one of those when I reach 10% at WW, I ended up having to make my own because the one I bought was to small for my body. I got some irrigation tubing and made one big enough.
Sara...yay! another hula hoop convert LOL! I dont know how many calories you burn but 10 minutes with it is 1 activity point. You CAN do this Sara!! I know you can!! You will reach those goals and taste the success!!! Have a wonderful day!! Diva...HA!!! 15 minutes...are you crazy! No, I can keep it going without falling for anywhere between 15 seconds and 20 seconds. But what I do is once it drops I pick it up and get it going again. I do that over and over and over again. Seems like whenever I look up at the clock to see how long its been the thing falls! Used to be I couldnt keep it going for 5 seconds so I'm growing! Melissa73...way to go on your REDWINS!! Something new can be an exercise you've not been doing, or trying a new recipe, or taking a new route while on a walk. Could be almost anything just to keep you from being in a rut! Hey 15 seconds is good!!! LOL! Thats what I can do, but I do it over and over and over again. |
Tina....thats what your support group is for! Losing weight is more mental than physical so of course there are gonna be times when ya just lose it like that. Dont be so hard on yourself. I think staying away from the scale is a really good thing this week. Focus on what you can control and stop beating yourself up about what you cannot. You've been doing so great till now, I know you'll get that feeling of control back. This too shall pass, just a bump in the road and its time to take a detour off of it. You can do it Tina! I know you can! When you feel like reaching for something you arent supposed to be eating..find something else to do, journaling is a great idea! We are right there with you, giving you all our support for healthy choices for your healthy body! You can do it!

Melissa73- I've tried dance videos before, and I always think "that looks so easy" until I try it and just about kill myself! I'm not the most balanced person:)
Jen- At one of my cousins parties years ago I took place in a hula hoop contest...let's just say I didn't do so hot:) It really is harder then it looks, and just like I have awful balance I have even worse rythem:) Rennie- If anyone calls you lazy after walking 8 miles, they are CRAZY...including yourself!LOL! Andi- I get what ya mean that when you hit a certain number you feel smaller. I think it's so funny though because if I'm like 3-4 lbs heavier then that number I feel like a frump:) Weird how our minds work~ Counting- Great job on finishing the workout...sometimes like you said that helps kick it into the next gear. Diva- I love the little hula hoop girl! Your doing great girl:) Melissa- I requested to be on your team next round, fingers crossed I get it:) Your the best leader ever girl!! Barbara- That is wonderful that your going back to school! |
Okay Note to Red team: Hamburger Helper, no matter if it is the reduced fat version is not a healthy choice for dinner! LOL! Ugh..all that sodium and I'm up 3 lbs today. Now we all know I didnt gain 3 lbs its just water retention from the salt lick I called dinner and plus the lifting weights so I'm not upset about it, just a reminder that there are better choices out there to be made!
I'm gonna go hula for awhile! Burn some calories 1.65 at a time! :p LOL! |
Aww you guys with the team requests are giving me a big head!! Have I told you all lately how incredibly lucky I feel to have you as a support group? Its not a wonder I've got success going on, look who I have backing me! Thank you Red team!!
