Talking So Jealous!

Ah Ferrett - you lucky gal! I am afraid that a romantic eve for me and mine is falling asleep at the same time. LOL Such is life on the farm. Our last "date" was our Anniversary June 6. It was pretty good. Hunting season (bowhunting) is coming up fast so there will drives in the woods - occasionally with a bottle of wine - so that is sort of a date.

Anyway - hey hey to everyone - hope you are all doing great this week!

ahhh yes it's my friday...it was crazy at work last night...all the residents were being their usual girly teenage angst selves, but more so...one in particular had to be held because she was getting violent...

Sounds like you had a fun night Ferret

I just got my hair cut on Saturday - it now grazes my shoulders and has shorter layers around my face with the longer ends flipped outwards. I learned years ago to work with the natural wave in my hair as fighting against it is a total waste of time I'm just glad that it is still long enough to put up if I need to - it's just way too humid here to not be able to have that option.

Well I will bid you all au revoir as I am going on holiday for a week and will not be able to post.

Have a great week and I'll post again next Tuesday!

Hi everyone - I hope this post finds you all well.

I'm sorry for the delay - I've been playing catch up (again) thanks to our wonderful DSL service that goes offline with every drop of rain we get! Nevertheless, a big HI to everyone!

Well, not to get back on the old thread, but I felt I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that I tried Starry Night dye by Loreal Feria and it did all but destroy my bathroom! That stuff is like water when it's mixed and it got everywhere! I even have to re-paint the wall (the WHITE wall!) in my bathroom where it got all over. The color is great but not for the pain it caused! I had to bleach everything from the vanity to the sink to the bathtub! But on the bright side, that finished me off with hair colors. I'm going to HAVE to go to the salon and that's it. If it's $70 it's $70 but it's a LOT better than re-painting the bathroom!

Hannah - the bouffant sounds great! It reminds me of that chick from Pretty in Pink who put on the old 50's dress and the beehive wig to reminisce about her early years. Way cool!

Ajandpj99 - I thought of you this very morning when I nipped into Walgreens for some hairspray and saw.. yep... Aqua Net! I'm certain that it's really made by Super Glue Corp. That stuff could hold the California coastline together during 'the big one' I'm certain!

Ferret - I'm glad to hear your date went well! I think I remember dating... I'd love a nice romantic eve with someone but right now I have too much concentrating to do on my diet. I just can't be bothered with men right now. Terrible, I know...

Mauvaisroux - I hope you have a fantastic holiday! I could really use a holiday myself but such is life when working temp jobs. I do get off early today though. I'm driving to Orlando to see System of A Down and I'm so excited! I've wanted to see them for years and finally! My mom thinks I'm crazy to drive 2.5 hours to see a concert, but she's a mom afterall! Your haircut sounds really cute too! I wanted to put mine in rollers last night so it would be curly for the concert but I fell asleep and I was too lazy. How pathetic! So, I'm going to have to rely on mousse, the good ole hot rollers, some anti-humidity spray and some really strong hairspray! (Aussie, NOT Aqua Net!)

Other than my concert, that's about all there is to tell. I weigh in again tomorrow morning so I'm hoping to see a decrease. A bag of Tostitos and I had a fight during the week so it probably won't be significant. I don't know what the **** is wrong with me but if I don't stop this self-sabotage I'm going to get super glue lip gloss I swear! I haven't done any real damage, but the scale just isn't moving. I guess it will be great when I'm on maintenance but that's a LONG way down the road yet. Ah well, I'll beat myself up tomorrow. I'm too excited today!

Well take care everyone and have a fab day! I'll try to post again later or in the morning.

All the best.

Alisha

Wow...sorry to hear about the bathroom disaster Alisha! That sucks! I actually have a few red streaks on my trimwork where I did not notice the dye until it was too late but luckily they are not too noticeable. I'm sure your hair looks great though!

Alisha -
2 1/2 hours isn't a bad drive! I have done over 3 hours for the Tragically Hip. It was even in another country. I live in the US near the Canadian border. I am hoping one of these days to fly from NY to California for them too. I just have to wait for the right dates. I am still tempted to drive 4 hours to see Glen Phillips next time he is in Cleveland too.

Have fun at the concert!

Alisha - When I dyed my hair black, I finally gave up doing it at home for the same reason. I have found that black dyes tend to be a bit thinner because it much more noticable if it doesn't reach the root or doesn't take as well. I found that my regular hairdresser would throw the dye in if I bought the hair dye, came after hours and didn't have her style it. And she did it for about half the cost. This was well worth it to me - and she kept her client of 3 years. Of course, black is a huge pain in the arse so after a couple years I bleached it out, went crayola orange for awhile and now I'm back to my more natural red color.

I hear you on finances Ferret, I've been looking for cheap ways to entertain my bf & friends lately. It's a challenge. Everything is so expensive. We found out that our local symphony does free concerts on the beach on wednesday nights! Woohoo. Also, anyone here belong to Blockbuster but NOT in their membership program yet? I joined for 10, for the year, last month. I've already made my money back. They gave me a video or 2 (i forget which) free the day I joined, then I gave them my email addy & they sent me a coupon for a free rental the next day, everytime I rent the fifth dvd they give me another coupon for a freebie & every mon, tues & wed. if I rent a new release they let me rent a favorite (any dvd thats on the inside of the store instead of the outer walls) for free...so I got four dvd's the other day for 8$. Anyways, I dunno if its cheaper than programs like netflix but if your like me & like to actually browse in the store the membership rewards thingy is well worth the cash.
Now I'm off to try & find another shade of red dye to try out. We are going to a semi formal dinner thing this weekend & I need to get the gray out again.

A mullet??? EEEEK! lol.
speaking of hair yet again. I just went to some hairstyling website that asks you a gazillion questions & then makes suggestions on products. Hah. When they were done making a "program" for me I added up the totals on all the stuff they said I should use. I'd need 2 full time jobs for just hair gunk. The total came to 160$ ha. I'm heading to wally world in a bit, if they don't have anything decent maybe I will take Alisha's suggestion & head over to Sally's beauty supply. I have not really checked out the prices on their knockoffs in awhile. Wish I was brave enough to try out another version of their dye's. Manic panic there sells a color that looks just like eggplant....probably look like fire engine red on me with my luck though.

HAHAHA mullet head! I'm just kidding, Lizzi! I know how freaky those hair dreams can be. When my hair was so long I used to have re-occurring nightmares that someone had cut all my hair off! I'd wake up in a cold sweat! Sometimes I think half the reason I cut my hair was to just do it and get over the angst! Whatever the reason, it worked, thank the gods!

Nothing new to report here actually, except that I'm finally back on track with my damn program! Bah, I was beginning to think that food had taken me over again, but it didn't. I 'took the power back' or so to speak and started my supplements correctly again. I think I was so bloody hungry because I'm due my 12-weekly depo shot. I never gave it much thought before, but I guess that I've never stayed on a diet long enough while I was on it to figure it out! Heh... I also have some exciting variation now as I have opted go to with other supplements besides shakes. They were getting very sickly. I have some oatmeal, pudding, snack bars and tropical punch so we'll see how I get on. I don't know what kind of a loss I'll have by next Wednesday but we'll hope for at least 2lbs. If I'm good, maybe I'll have more but I don't count on it. Either way, at least I haven't gained so that's something.

Anyway, you all take care. I've got that doctor's appointment so I need to run. 'Speak' soon!

Alisha
