Cool Alternachicks at the movies

Okay, so I finally watched Blade III and thought it was okay. My friends kept telling me how bad it was but, hey, it is a popcorn movie and I wasn't looking for epic drama And anyways, Wesley Snipes in leather is worth the price of admission to me

I am currently waiting with baited breat for the new Batman movie with Christian Bale. I've liked him as an actor for sometime now and would like to see what kind of job he does. I keep thinking that this one has GOT to be better than the last few Batman movies.

Anyone seen anything good, bad or indifferent lately?

NOt been to the cinema for a long time. The last thing I saw was the weeping camel (got very weepy myself!). However I rent DVD's reguarly.

Recently I watched an old favourite Jason and the Argonauts. Love it!

Last night I watched I Robot which was all right but very 'Hollywood'

I also saw Troy and that night in a pub quiz there was a question which I cannot remember but should have been obvious to those who had just watched the blasted DVD. Of course I forgot!! I recently saw Amelie too and thought it was charming.

Also another old fave the odd couple with Walter Mattheu and Jack Lemmon. That was great to see it again.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to watch I, Robot as I read the book years ago and I'm afraid that the "Hollywood" version would be disappointing.

We watched The Devil's Backbone last night - a ghost story that was quite well done, creepy enough but not gory.

FYI for those of you who don't like to read your movies - It is a Spanish film with English subtitles.

I have seen quite a bit lately. (signed up for the movie in the mail deal)

Spanglish - Cute, mostly light movie. Enjoyable.

Phantom of The Opera - I have seen the stage production, but I LOVE the movie also. I highly recommend it.

Kinsey - eh. I was expecting more. If it wasn't for the great cast, it would have sucked.

Long Song for Bobby Long - I liked this one. Slow, but decent movie.

Assault on Precinct 13 - a bit too violent for my taste. But it does have Ethan Hawke.

Manchurian Candidate - I am sure it is a good movie, but I couldn't manage to pay attention enough to keep up with the story.

Ocean's Twelve - FUN! Silly, enjoyable popcron movie.

Forgotten - had potential, but failed.

The Clearing - I liked this one. Slow, but a good watch

Hotel Rowanda - An excellent movie, but I had a very hard time watching it. I probably couldn't watch it agian, but I am very happy I did see it.

I still have to watch Troy, Ladder 49 & Miller's Crossing.

We've been having pretty bad luck with our movie choices lately.
Last night we tried to watch Sharkl Tale but we just thought it was awful. I suffered through Sideway. Seriously, I do not get why that one won awards at all. It was so dry, and I can't think of a single time when I laughed at all... it was a comedy right? Maybe not. *L* Also watched White Noise this weekend, on a recommendation. I found it fairly predictable and honestly don't care too much for Keaton anyway.
Started the third - or was it fourth? - season of Six feet under. My favorite show ever. I am really enjoying it.

I saw Mad Hot Ballroom - a documentary about the ballroom dancing program in elementary schools in NYC. Freaking wonderful - you'll laugh, you'll cheer, you'll laugh some more.

I've been striking out on movies lately. The last one I seen and enjoyed (Fever Pitch) was about a month ago. Like lizziness, I also suffered through Sideways. I was totally expecting something more.

Looking forward to Cinderella Man and Mr & Mrs Smith later this week, though.

Andy and I went to see the Lords of Dogtown on Friday night...the reviews are pretty bad for it saying there's no use for it...to be honest it wasn't my favorite movie, but if you are interested in skateboarding at all then it might be a good one to see...I enjoyed it and there was a bit part for Tony Hawke in there too LOL

I liked Sideways. I thought it was cute.

I did see Mr. & Mrs. Smith this weekend. I was fun. Much better then I had expected. Plus It has Brad Pitt.

I'm probably going to see Batman Begins this weekend - hope this series can redeem itself with this one

It really bugs me that the media is focusing solely on Katie Holmes being in this movie when the real star is Christian Bale and he hardly seems to be getting any press he is a terrific actor and it is annoying that he is being largely ignored. Probably because of the Holmes/Cruise Romance

Speaking of Tom Cruise, I really want to see War of the Worlds too. I just love sci-fi movies, hope they do a good job of this one too although I can tell it is going to be one of "loosely" based remake/updates

It was so funny to read your post Mauv because he was just on Fresh Air (NPR) today. Nice interview although just a bit weird. I'm looking forward to the movie.

I just rented Ocean's Twelve. Very cute movie. Not too deep but not boring - has a lot of sequel problems but nothing that prevents it from being a good vegging out movie.

--hey, I just thought, "How come vegging out usually involves food but not vegetables!"

I am also a Christian Bale fan and I CAN NOT WAIT to see it. I'm not much of a batman fan, but this one looks a little more interesting being more about batman then about silly villians. I would watch Bale in anything though.
Equlibrium was amazing, and of course American Psycho was so great. It still freaks me out and my hubby and I were the only ones laughing in the theater... i guess we've just got a sense for the dark humor.

Bale talked about a movie he did right before Batman called the Machinist. It's a bout a guy who hasn't slept in a year. He lost 63 pounds for the movie (yikes!). It sounded very dark and interesting.
