I don't know if anyone is reading this thread or not. It's been quite awhile since I've stopped by. At one time, in the not too distant past, there were quite a few folks posting. I am going to try and dust off the old fitbit and get back to it. I think I got the Lyme Disease from a tick I picked up from our farm in Kentucky. I had a positive test a couple of years ago after a trip to the ER for cardiac issues, but I was never notified or treated at the time. I assume what happened was that the test result came back after I was discharged from the hospital and somehow was overlooked. I wasn't even aware I'd been tested for it. My doctor stumbled upon it while looking back through old labs to see what my cholesterol was the last time I had it checked. Anyway, I've been having some health problems and doubt they are connected, but we are going to try treating it just in case. I also have to have a CT scan. But hey, it still boils down to, "Get busy living or get busy dying". Try to wake up every morning with a smile and say out loud, "I don't know what will happen tomorrow, but I'm alive TODAY!".
I'm glad your hand is rehabbed. I remember when you were just starting to post again and you were basically having to hunt and peck. Thanks for taking the time to say hello! As far as starting a new thread, I don't think anyone is looking at this one anyway!

Hi April. I hope the antibiotics help you, and you are eating yogurt or taking probiotics while on the antibiotics. They can cause problems of their own. It sounds like you have non-specific symptoms that could have many causes. I hope the doctor is able to figure it out and you can start to feel better.
Dee, I hope you hand is improving, at least to a point that you are able to use it. Since I retired, my hands are a lot better, though not perfect. Repetitive motion sure takes it's toll!
This thread is ok until we reach 500 posts. I think others will come back when they see there's some activity. I am just as guilty for being MIA.
Geojackie, I'm glad to hear the magnesium is helping you. I have some Epsom Salts but never take the time to soak. I might google and see what foods have magnesium, and also see what the symptoms are to see if I'm even low. I take so many meds I don't like to take supplements.
Sandy, that's a great idea to add up your miles to reach a certain distance! There used to be a thread here where posters would calculate the distance from their home to another point, such as from Pittsburgh to New York City, then say they were "walking to New York City." Then each day they would post how far they had gone so far. I never participated, but it was interesting.
EDIT: I just found an active variation of the walking the distance thread!!
Hello Carol Sue: I'm just so tired all of the time. I work second shift and have been sleeping until noon or even 1pm a lot, then have to leave for work by 2pm. I used to get up at 830am or 9am and get a lot of stuff done before work. I enjoyed getting up and having productive time before work. I'd spend time riding my bike or walking the dogs as well as doing things in the house or working in the garden and having spiritual time as well. Now it all just seems tedious and I feel exhausted. I've been having unexplained pain as well, which is why I'm having the CT scan. It seems as if the past two months or so have been the worst.
It's raining and it's been so cool here lately. I had to wear a sweatshirt over my 4th of July t-shirt yesterday. It's hard to believe it's July. I think it's been cool like this for about a week now. The warm weather is supposed to come back with a vengeance tomorrow, I think.
I hope everyone is well and approaching their goals. I'm going to try and make myself get up and get moving again and see if I physically can. I'm curious as to why this malaise hit me so suddenly, especially if I've had the Lyme for over two years now.
April How discouraging to feel so listless and low energy. Sure hope you find what is causing the problem and can feel a whole lot better soon.
I have no excuse except age and heavy weight. I did walk 1/2 mile early this morning, but came back so wet with sweat a shower was necessary before I left for the day.
Weeds are really growing with all the rain, we, too, are having. I noticed a grape vine completely covering a shrub in the back corner. Can't cut it below and will tear up the bush trying to get it out. Grrrrr
Carol Sue I'm afraid I'd need to simply walk to a town from here, either 4 miles one way or 8 the other way. We live in rural area (thank goodness). Walking to New York? Wow, I can't even walk to PA.

Sandy, you don't actually walk to the destination. You just do your walking that you would normally do, even if it's just a half mile or a mile. Then you add up the distance that you walk each day until it adds up to the distance to your destination. For example, if I walk 2 miles a day, it would take me 144 days to walk to Philadelphia from my house. According to my Fitbit, I walk about 2 miles a day just living my life. If I do any exercise walking it adds on to that number. If I would find a destination that is 730 miles from my home, at 2 miles per day, I would get there in 1 year. It's just a challenge you do with yourself.
April, I'm sorry that you are feeling so terrible. It's hard to continue to go to work like that. I hope they find what's causing it and it can be easily fixed.
Sandy: It is pretty awful to feel like this. I had my CT scan today, so now it's "wait and see." I had oral and IV contrast, and I have terrible veins. It isn't unusual for me to be stuck nine or more times for blood draws or IV starts. The young man who was doing my CT scan looked all over for a place to stick me, and his co-worker did make one attempt in the back of my hand, then he went over to the ultrasound department and borrowed a portable ultrasound machine and located a vein via ultrasound and started the IV without any digging around. That was fantastic. I know what you mean about weeds - my garden is sprouting weeds faster than I can pick them. The black raspberries are ripening and I've picked only a handful this summer. Usually I have frozen a couple of gallons by now. I cleaned out the chicken coop yesterday and then it poured rain. Of course. Now it's solid mud again. Sigh. I'm supposed to stay out of the sun with this antibiotic for Lyme Disease which makes it all the more challenging. Don't give up! Keep walking! It makes the shower feel that much better!
Carol Sue: I've been meaning to get my fitbit off the charger. I can't remember how far I've walked since I've had it. It gives you badges when you reach certain distance milestones. Like walking the distance across the "great barrier reef" or walking the distance required to walk across India, etc. I'll have to look and post it later. I haven't worn it much at all lately. My last "weekly fitbit report" showed a grand total of 10 steps. Probably from the nightstand to the charger. LOL.
I need to work on my health. I've been letting it slide instead of doing my best to fight back.
My top fitbit badges: Classics: 25,000 steps in a day, Sahara: 2,983 miles (distance across Sahara desert), Lighthouse: 50 floors in a day, Skydiver: 1,000 lifetime floors.
I haven't worn mine much in the past two to three months. Hopefully I haven't fried the battery leaving it on charge for so long. My promise to you guys is to put it back on starting tomorrow. Even if I don't do any extra walking, I can at least be getting credit for the steps/miles I do at work. I usually get over 10,000 a day without doing any additional walking.
Hi you'all
My Dh decided to have a garage sale this weekend so I've been busy with that all week. We're going to sell our house & 20 acres to live 70 miles closer to our 2 sons & 4 g-babes that are now all in school so we need to downsize our belongings to make moving easier. Getting ready for the garage sale is so much work & I mark items at 20% of what we paid, that I'd rather just donate them but because we enjoy going to garage sales finding treasures we have a sale about every 3 yrs.
April, I feel sad about what you've been going through with your health & I added you to my prayers
Girls, I got my first Fitbit last October & I'm addicted to wearing it even on days when my allergies make me very sick & I only get 5,000 steps. My daily goal is just 7,300 so I don't beat myself up for not getting the suggested 10,000 steps daily. I started a thread over the winter for people who use any fitness step tracker here's the 3FC link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...ml#post5268688. We've had from 2-6 people who posted for months coming & going. It's nice to be on a few threads to chat & support each other. It encourages me when I see other people walking also, because I don't go to a gym or belong to any team sports. So why don't you stop by & chat because we'd love to hear from you London is the farthest I've walked so far, I'm about 90 miles from my next badge walking 500 miles. My others are: Helicopter 500 Lifetime floors, Redwood forest 25 floors in 1 day, Urban boot 15,000 Steps in 1 day, 3 times. My current average is 7,000 daily steps which is fine considering I've been unemployed for several years now & I have a painful injured right knee since 1995, but not it's not crippling me so our health insurance won't pay for knee surgery.
Our lawn looks terrible because because we haven't had enough rain this summer My Dh waters our garden every evening, I bought a veggie spiralizer to try making zucchini spaghetti, etc. Does anybody have a spiralizer?
Time for bed now. Everyone have a wonderful weekend
CT results showed left ovarian cyst. Don't know if that has anything to do with my pain which is consistently left UPPER quadrant and around flank into back, but I'm grateful. I was worried about my left kidney or pancreas. If the antibiotics don't help, Dr. said may follow up with GYN consult. Thank you for your support and prayers and kind thoughts.
So, I have my fitbit off the charger an in its clip on case and I will wear it tonight at work. Tomorrow, I hope to have time for a walk before work. I have to get back to thinking like a healthy person. Anyone who wants to exchange "friend list" information for fitbit, we could do through private messaging so our email addresses aren't exposed? I'm asking because I don't know enough about 3FC to know if that is a possibility or not. Would be fun to be on each others friends list and see our daily steps and ranking and all.
I had my fitbit all charged up and ready to go and then was running late yesterday and ran out the door without it! I remembered it halfway to work! Sheesh. I need to just start putting it on when I get out of bed, even if it just means clipping it to my pjs. At least then it will be right there when I put my work britches on and I'll be less likely to forget it.
I will check out that fitbit thread. I hope to regain my previous zeal for stepping. LOL.
Actually wore the fitbit yesterday. 11,454 steps. 5.08 miles. 36 active minutes. That was mostly accumulated during work. I think I will slowly start adding walks back before work. Not the 4 miles I used to do right away, but working back toward that. I will have to get up earlier, when it is cooler, so that is a good thing, too. I have gained back 7 of the pounds I worked so hard to lose, so I will have to adjust my ticker to reflect that. I don't have time to do that before work today, so I'll make a point to do it tomorrow.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful, restful weekend. It's out the door here for me in a few minutes.

Dee, I have my Fitbit on constantly, too. My new one is a Charge HR, and when I put that on the charger, I wear my One in my pocket. I am afraid to clip it on because so many have said they lost theirs that way. I don't get a lot of steps in and don't have a lot of badges, but I do what I do. I have osteoarthritis in one knee, and I have a bit of trouble doing steps. I also can't run, but I wear an elastic brace when I exercise, that helps. I have heard a lot of horror stories about knee surgery so I don't want to have it until I have to. Or not. I heard that once you pass through the Golden Gate there are no stairs, so I won't have to worry about it then.
April, I hope they are able to easily resolve your problem with the cyst. I guess it could have been a lot worse. Good luck to you with that.
