Hi, still staying between 1000-1200 mostly 1100... No weight lost, I am waiting on Mayo specialist to call back with appointment....staying the same, weight wise because getting past 3000 steps a day tires me out so much...
The recession in the USA has hit everybody really hard…

Wives are having sex with their husbands because they can’t afford batteries.
CEO’s are now playing miniature golf.

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

Lynn, I did lol at your post! Like you said, not funny but yet funny. Perhaps that is a sign things are getting better when we can laugh about it. There is always hope.
Hi Rosey!
Hi Deelee - Glad you stopped in! Hoping for the best for you.
Geez, it seems that the days have flown by! I don't have anything exciting (or even remotely interesting) to impart, sorry!
DeeLou - seems like you should be losing. You're active and keeping the calories down... I'll be interested in hearing what the doc says. Hang in there!
Everyone - be well! Later, lovelies.... Gorgeous here!

Dee...ditto what Donna said, hang in there. What's your doc's appointment for?
Lynn...the suicide hot line is very funny.
Instead of going to the Y today, I'll rake leaves on our postage size yard. I'm just feeling lazy.
Dr. Quack had me on water pills and something called Cataplex GFT. I'm going to give him a piece of my mind on my next appointment Friday. I've had GAS and terrible headaches since I left his office.
Mary...I use my computer time as a nice little vacation away from the stresses of life. Retirement wouldn't be nearly as fun if I didn't have my cp.
I've been thinking of buying another laptop, I had a new one still in the box. But I hated no mouse so didn't use it. My GG's computer crashed and I gave him my laptop. Now I'm thinking it would save lots of printer ink if I had one in the kitchen,. I use allrecipes.com daily and I could use the recipe right on the screen instead of printing it out. Sounds like a good excuse to me. Can I get allrecipe.com on my kindle?
Rosey...I can relate on the great feeling after the bills are paid.
Hi Karen, nice pictures of Michael. So nice of them to keep you posted with photos. K3, what are you cooking today? Sometimes Dash eats better than we do, especially when I heat up left-overs from the night before.
A beautiful day in north Florida...still waiting on my call back for appointment at Mayo. I am seeing an endocrinologist for thyroid issues. I have now reached 20 days on here and have over 20 posts so hope to soon see the choice for tracker...though it only goes up and down 1-2 pounds now for one month of watching my eating....
I cannot get into Mayo for 3 months!! the next step is find anotherMD....I got very lightheaded today and ate some applesauce , did not help but a oatmeal cookie and 20 minutes later I was fine...so may have some low blood sugar issues, I had cut out almost all added sugar from my diet, unless it was hidden..guess I will keep some on hand if this happens again!
Hello golden girls. I'm back. What a vacation! It was absolutely beautiful. While we were there they opened the smokey mountain national park. We were very excited about that. I have a little story to share. It's silly but we were excited just the same. In 2008 my dh and I and both our sons took a family vacation to the smokey mountains. While we were touring a barn in the park our sons put a 2008 penny and quarter on the loft of the barn. We checked to see if they were there and they were. So we put a 2013 penny and dime in the same place with the other money. One day our sons want to go back and check to see if both 2008 and 2013 coins are still there and add another of the year they go. On the other side of the park we did the same thing and that dime was also still there. We were very surprised after 5 years that they were there. We rode 4 wheelers in the mountains to the top of the mountain. So much fun. We did the Dixie stampede in pigeon forge. We toured a moonshine distillery and sampled 12 different moonshines. I was a little tipsy when I left there. I never drink whiskey. Don't really like it but the blackberry apple pie and strawberry shortcake were my favorites. We only bought the blackberry because it was 24.95 a quart. Kinda expensive. We saw a lot of deer and 3 bears. Lots of turkey's. I think I took 1200 pictures on my camera. My vacation was everything I wanted it to be. Dh and I didn't want to leave. The colors were just breathtaking.
Diet is horrible. We ate so much. I've gained so much weight I haven't gotten on the scale yet. I thought Monday I would have started back but I'm still eating. I want to get back on so back but I've lost all my will power. Karen fl you may need your rolling pin.
I haven't had time to read back post. We got back at 6 Sunday night. Unpacked and were sleeping for 8 and work at 630 on Monday. I haven't had time to catch my breath. Duty calls so I'll be back later.
Hugs
Cajun
Hello everyone! Our son called this morning, good to talk to him but we were running late for the gym but we got there. First had to stop at the clinic and get my flu shot and boy it hurt this time! Not sure why. So now I have both shoulder/arms hurting. Praying it will stop hurting so I can lay on that side tonight as I can't lay on the other. I thought I was doing the right thing not getting it in my already painful arm but now not sure. Also stopped for lunch. We are both very tired today for some reason.
I thought I did well on my eating plan yesterday but my bs was high all day yesterday and still high this morning. Did ok with breakfast but lunch out was a little high in carbs. I feel like I don't dare make a mistake at all..very frustrating! Adding another med would relieve some pressure but it may add other problems. Still researching all I can and praying about it.
Lynn - Glad to hear you liked Captain Phillips...it's on my list to see.
Rosey - Hope you get the insurance thing figured out. I was talking with my son about it and he said so far it's been hard to figure out. It depends to some extent on your income but if you make enough to file an income tax form, I think you will likely have to buy insurance or pay a penalty from what I understand. Some people may think the penalty is worth paying but they should be warned that the amount of the penalty will go up from what Ive read. Hopefully they will get the kinks worked out soon and make it easier for people to understand. All at a cost to taxpayers I'm sure. I think they are talking about hiring new people to do the website now. I'm glad we are out of it for now at least (who knows about future) as we have Medicare and military coverage.
There, I finally got caught up on all the posts from while I was gone. I got back Sunday, but was pretty tired. Rested up on Monday. Had a medical procedure on Tuesday. Another dr’s appointment today. Tomorrow, will have to try to get back to stuff as usual.
It was a pretty rugged time up in Ohio. DB at first ~ was in a snit with my sister and I over stuff with Mom. Maybe his reactions were part of his grieving over Dad‘s passing, I don’t know. But some of his behavior was so hurtful to my sister and I. He trashed us and made horrible accusations about us to the public on Facebook. Finally, he and my sister had a good conversation and then we were able to work together for the good of mom.
Mom has Alzheimer’s. She was up every hour or so during the night. So, my sister and I didn’t sleep well either. Sometimes we would hear her and get up with her, other times she was very quiet and we didn’t know she was up. That is when interesting things would happen. One time I went to the bathroom after mom was done ~ couldn’t find the hand towel to dry my hands ~ next time she went ~ there it was ~ tucked into the waist band of her pants ~ hanging out the front like a flag foot ball player. She took my glasses one time, another time I went to run an errand and could not find my shoes. Mom had been trying to straighten up I guess and my glasses and shoes looked like hers, so she put them away. Poor mom. Thankfully I found them. Trying to care for her was exhausting ~ like watching a little child ~ you had to keep your eye on her every minute.
I had told my sister that I thought mom should be in a nursing home ~ as we could not go on for months and months like this with no rest. (I have friends who have done that ~ my hat is off to them ~ I don’t know how they did it.) At first my sister resisted this, but after a few nights like that ~ she realized that we needed help. So, we had people come evaluate mom for placement. She should be admitted by the end of this week if everything goes as it should. It is a nice place. My dad’s mom finished out her time there. And mom herself had spent a couple weeks there for some physical rehab a few years back after she had broken both her ankles. She liked it real well. So we feel good about her going there. It is a nice place with a good reputation.
I feel bad because my sister is still up there with Mom and I had to come home because of some medical procedures that had been scheduled and were real hard to get in the first place. But hopefully by the end of this week, mom will be admitted and my sister will be able to get some rest finally.
And, I feel guilty for being glad to be back home. I love my family, but don’t travel well anymore and don’t rest well when not at home. Also, it was cold and dreary and rainy up there. Depressing.
Forgive me for not doing personals tonight. I am about out of steam. Tomorrow, I need to catch up on some other stuff.
I am trying to take better care of myself and take the time to do the right things to get well. The most urgent one is the diabetes ~ and trying to get my blood sugar under control. Need to eat better more consistently. And exercise more consistently and stop making excuses. Today was day one ~ walked 40 minutes.
A couple of friends who are diabetic are giving me guidance. Some of it is confusing, as it is different from what I have learned in the past about nutrition. But they are very helpful to me and very patient with my many questions.
Hey all....Glad things are going pretty good for everyone. We finally were able to open up the house this morning. Real air even tastes good. Played bridge and had a great game....yup, came in 1st! I even stole a bid....some times being a shark is such fun.
Rosey....I'm surprised you are just getting a wood burning stove. We had one for the past 30yrs up North. Burnt about 3 cords of wood a season. Dh loved cutting and splitting logs....The neatest was when he split black birch. It smell just like rootbeer soda. They used to tap them and make birch beer soda years ago. I love my gas fire now. No ash, no dust, no dried up nose.
Bobbi....I will cook tomorrow. Made Dh the meatloaf yesterday so cookless today! Saw a recipe for apple butter pie....gonna try and make diet friendly. Will report results!
Cajun....wow on the change still here! Glad you have such a nice trip.
Deelou...Are you down here now? Must be if you are going to Jacksonville!
Lynn...You are the travelous chick. Look at the beautiful jewelry for me, please
Donna...Glad you are planning on doing the hip. I haven't reach the point where I willing will do these darn knees.
Karen...Did you figure out what the flowers were?
Mary...You and my DD just can't get the BS under control. She gets so frustrated. They even started her on insulin and it stays high. I think they have her on regular insulin not NPH....but not near to check it out. Think epipens are reg insulin.
Okay I got everyone I could remember...if I missed you just attribute it to my age....entering second stage of crone. Before I lose this k3
Karen3... We moved here to Jax 6 years ado from Ohio, my older daughter had moved two years before to Ponte Vedra. Two boys still in Ohio. I wish we could do the snowbird thing as the summers here are !!!!! I am still trying to get into an endo crinologist, I would have to wait 3 months to get into mayo.....
